Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 40, Qin Shanhai’s Decision

Qin Qiu deeply agreed with her Father. She recalled Lu Fan’s various performances in Despair Village, and still felt shocked, even now.

After a long silence, Qin Shanhai took a sip of tea before speaking again, “You haven’t mentioned this to anyone else, have you?”

Qin Qiu replied, “No. I’ve told Uncle Ge and the others that knowledge of Lu Fan having a Dragon is to not be spread under any circumstances. We can’t even tell it to those in our Qin Family.”

Qin Shanhai nodded with satisfaction, saying, “You’ve done well. Matters concerning Dragons are all secrets. If news of this young man having a Dragon were to leak out, I’m afraid many people would swarm to him, wanting to inquire about clues regarding Giant Dragons. After all, Giant Dragons are practically like deities to us Humans. Who wouldn’t want to obtain a deity, or even enslave one?”

Qin Qiu frowned, tentatively asking, “Dad, you’re not thinking of trying to get information about Dragons from him, are you?”

Qin Shanhai looked at his Daughter and immediately laughed, asking in return, “Do you think I’m that kind of person?”

Qin Qiu thought for a moment, then shook her head.

As his Daughter, Qin Qiu naturally understood Qin Shanhai to some extent. Her Father was able to hold the position of City Lord of Jianghai City and be deeply loved because he was always upright. He always held on to his own principles and morals whenever he took action.

The secret about Dragons that Lu Fan carried was indeed an endless treasure trove. If they could obtain it, the entire Qin Family would benefit from it. They might even stand at the top of Dragon Country.

However, Qin Shanhai would never fall as low as to do something like that.

Seeming to see through Qin Qiu’s thoughts, Qin Shanhai put down his teacup and calmly said, “Regarding the secrets of Giant Dragons, I am indeed tempted, but I am well aware that this doesn’t belong to our Qin Family. If we try to touch it, we might only bring trouble upon ourselves.”

“This is someone else’s secret. If we try to probe into it, it would undoubtedly be violating their line. The choice our Qin Family faces now is between a Dragon Tamer with unlimited potential and a vague, uncertain secret about Dragons. The options are not exactly on par, right? So, the decision is easy/” After a pause, Qin Shanhai continued, “Lu Fan has boundless potential. Our Qin Family certainly can’t pretend to know nothing. But such an outstanding person isn’t someone our Qin Family can subjugate, we won’t. On the contrary, if he thinks highly of our Qin Family, it would be enough to advance our Qin Family’s status in the Dragon Country. So, before he grows up, I’ve decided the Qin Family will provide him with as much help as possible. It will serve as an investment for our future.”

Hearing Qin Shanhai’s words, Qin Qiu felt relieved. She had also been afraid that her Father might have improper intentions towards the secrets Lu Fan carried.

In that case, the Qin Family and Lu Fan might end up on opposing sides. Qin Qiu was grateful for Lu Fan’s life-saving grace. She also had quite a good impression of him, so she certainly would not want them to fall out.

Therefore, when she heard Qin Shanhai say he wanted to invest in Lu Fan and establish a good relationship with him, Qin Qiu strongly agreed to this plan.

“Dad, I think what you said makes a lot of sense,” Qin Qiu smiled. “Earlier in the Mountain Stone Plains, I promised him a reward and a gift of gratitude for saving my life. I think this is a perfect opportunity for our Qin Family to show our intentions to him. We can have someone deliver this gift to Lu Fan’s home first thing tomorrow morning.”

“That’s fine,” Qin Shanhai nodded, then asked, “How much did you promise him earlier?”

“Well… at that time I didn’t know he was so strong. I thought he was an ordinary Monster Material Hunter, so I only promised him 100,000 Dragon Coins…” Qin Qiu’s face reddened. Thinking about it now, 100,000 was somewhat insulting to someone as strong as Lu Fan.

Qin Shanhai looked at his Daughter’s ashamed face and smiled helplessly. After thinking for a moment, he added, “How about this, tomorrow, you take a Purple Orchid Card and visit Lu Fan’s home to express your gratitude.”

A Purple Orchid Card represented ten million. For an ordinary Family, this amount of money was a fortune they could never earn in their lifetime.

[As a gift for Lu Fan, this certainly isn’t that bad.] Qin Qiu nodded and agreed, then asked, “So, Dad, are you not coming with me tomorrow?”

Qin Shanhai waved his hand and said, “If possible, I want to go with you to see this young Dragon Tamer. But, I just received news that a Little Princess from the Extremistis Country has come to our Dragon Country, apparently to study abroad. She’s tentatively planning to stay in our Jianghai City. As the City Lord of Jianghai City, I need to go and welcome her. This kind of international exchange can’t be neglected, so I can’t get away from my duties.”

Hearing this, Qin Qiu found it somewhat unbelievable. “A Little Princess from the Extremistis Country is coming to study in our Dragon Country? Why would she come to our Jianghai City of all places? Jianghai City doesn’t have any good Universities, does it?”
