World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch

When Charles and the other guards saw Mike suddenly wake up, they were startled for a moment.

However, they quickly recovered and tried to stop him from crawling away.

But before they could even move—

Bang!

A Wind Bullet pierced through his already injured leg, causing him to scream in pain and roll across the ground.

The two Level 25 guards immediately rushed forward and grabbed Mike, dragging him back toward the others.

”So, he really was pretending to be unconscious so that he could escape when we let our guard down,” Charles muttered once Mike was brought back.

”You fucking bastard...” Mike glared at Evan with hate-filled eyes.

He had originally planned to pretend to be unconscious until the guards lowered their guard, then find an opportunity to escape.

But this hateful kid ruined everything.

Evan completely ignored Mike’s hateful gaze and looked toward Charles.

”Now that he is awake, I can ask him my question, right?”

Hearing Evan, Charles remembered that he had mentioned wanting to ask Mike something earlier, so he nodded and gave a signal to the guards holding him.

The two Level 25 guards released Mike and stepped back.

However, John, the other Rank One Evolver didn’t seem convinced.

”Captain, now that he is awake, we shouldn’t waste any more time here. We should take him back to the guard office and question him about whether he has any other companions so that we can catch them as quickly as possible.”

Charles glanced at John and frowned slightly. He had felt that something was off about John’s behavior since the beginning.

”Don’t worry. I only need to ask him one question, so it won’t take long.”

Evan ignored John’s words and walked toward Mike.

John wanted to stop him, but Charles raised his hand, signaling him to stay silent.

Evan stopped directly in front of Mike and looked at him coldly.

”Do you really think I will answer your questions?” Mike sneered weakly. ”I am going to die anyway, so why should I tell you anything?”

Evan didn’t answer Mike’s question and simply stared at him quietly.

Then, suddenly, the aura around Evan changed.

Mike’s body stiffened as a terrifying sense of fear surged through his mind.

Looking at Evan standing before him, he felt as though he were standing before a terrifying monster—a monster whose eyes he couldn’t even meet.

”So,” Evan asked quietly, his voice carrying an inexplicable pressure, ”Will you answer my questions now?”

Under the effect of his Intimidation skill, Mike felt as though every cell in his body was screaming in terror, making him tremble uncontrollably.

Although Intimidation was still a Rank One, Level One skill and normally wouldn’t have much effect on a Rank One Evolver, Mike was currently in an extremely weakened state.

His body had suffered severe injuries, and his mind was already fragile.

More importantly, he knew that his fate was essentially sealed.

Selling children into slavery was a crime punishable by death.

Mike knew that once the guards obtained enough information from him, he would be executed.

His fear of death and weakened mental state made it much easier for Evan’s Intimidation skill to affect him.

However, Mike wasn’t the only one affected.

Charles and the others also changed expressions when they sensed the sudden change in Evan’s aura.

The two Level 25 guards even subconsciously took a step backward, looking at him in fear.

”What the hell is this guy?” One of them asked while gulping, his body trembling slightly.

”A spiritual skill...” William muttered under his breath, his voice filled with shock.

Spiritual skills were incredibly rare, even rarer than healing-type skills. And for someone who was only Level 20 to possess such a skill was even more absurd.

Evan noticed that his Intimidation skill was affecting everyone around him, but the effect wasn’t serious enough to concern him. So his entire attention remained focused on Mike.

”Who is your companion among these four guards?” Evan asked in a low voice.

Mike’s pupils trembled upon hearing Evan’s question, but despite the fear filling his heart, he still clenched his teeth and resisted the effect of Intimidation.

Evan frowned when he saw this and increased the power of his Intimidation skill to its limit.

The pressure around him suddenly became even heavier, even affecting the surrounding air.

But despite the increased pressure, Mike still didn’t answer.

Although fear was clearly visible in his eyes and his body was shaking, he refused to speak.

Evan felt a little frustrated when he saw this as he knew that if the level of his skill were just a little higher, it would have been easy to make Mike talk.

”Don’t test my patience.”

Evan grabbed Mike by the hair and spoke in a cold voice. ”Just answer my question.”

The moment those words left his mouth, Evan’s ocean-blue eyes suddenly flashed with green light.

When Mike looked into those eyes, his body shuddered.

For a brief moment, the ocean blue completely disappeared from Evan’s eyes, replaced by a strange emerald-green color.

But it didn’t last long, and his eyes soon returned to normal.

However, not even a second later, they changed again.

Green.

Blue.

Green.

Blue.

Green.

His eyes continued changing between their original ocean-blue color and an eerie green.

Evan himself didn’t notice the strange change in his eyes as he was too focused on Mike.

But Mike saw it clearly.

When he looked into those green eyes, an indescribable fear overwhelmed him, making it difficult for him to breathe.

It felt as though something terrifying was staring at him from the depths of those eyes.

”Who is your companion among these four guards?”

Evan’s cold voice once again reached his ears.

And this time, Mike didn’t hesitate for even a second before shouting.

”John! He is the one who helps us kidnap the children and take them out of the city! He also covers our tracks after we take them!”

The instant these words left Mike’s mouth, silence descended over the area.

A look of shock appeared in the eyes of Charles and the other two Level 25 guards, and they immediately looked at John.

”John, you...” Charles looked at John in anger, gritting his teeth.

John’s face turned pale when he saw this, and he immediately shouted.

”This scum is lying! He’s trying to turn us against each other so that he can escape!”

After getting his answer, Evan stopped using his Intimidation skill, and the terrifying pressure around him instantly disappeared.

Even after Evan stopped using his skill, Mike still couldn’t escape the shadow of those eerie green eyes and his body went limp as he lost consciousness.

Evan ignored Mike and turned toward John, who was staring at him with a mixture of anger and fear.

Seeing the anger on John’s face, Evan couldn’t help but chuckle.

”Are you still going to pretend that you’re not his accomplice?”

John gritted his teeth.

”Don’t bullshit me! That bastard is lying. What evidence do you have that I worked with them?”

”Once you return to the city and the guards conduct a proper investigation, it will be very easy to find evidence against you,” Evan said in a flat voice. ”If you want to save yourself, this is your best chance to escape. Once you return to the guard office, there will be no escaping for you.”

John’s eyes flickered slightly at Evan’s words as he knew Evan was right.

Once he returned to the guard office, a full investigation would begin. Considering all the crimes he had committed over the years, he was sure he wouldn’t be able to escape punishment.

”Do you think I am afraid of an investigation?” John sneered. ”I haven’t done anything wrong, so why would I run away?”

Although he said that, John silently glanced around.

Then, the next second, he suddenly dashed toward William and Anna, who were standing at the side.

Evan’s expression remained unchanged when he saw this as he had already expected John to make such a move.

The instant John moved, a green aura suddenly erupted around Evan’s body, and he vanished from his spot.

At almost the same time, Charles also reacted and rushed toward John.
