Chapter 1599: Chapter 552: Hidden Divine Artifact (2)

”Aunt Delana is in charge of arranging for everyone else to return. She said she’ll personally come to thank you later,” Anna whispered softly.

”I see. Please let Ms. Delana know that she’s too kind. This is simply what I ought to do.”

”Hmm, Rein, I heard from Ms. Olena that you’ve contracted a giant dragon?” Anna couldn’t help but ask curiously.

On the airship they arrived on, Olena had told her about this. However, despite looking around, Anna still hadn’t caught sight of the giant dragon.

”Yes, there it is.” Rein smiled slightly and gestured upward.

Following Rein’s gaze, Anna saw a mass of dark clouds quickly approaching from the distant sky.

With the approach of the ’Mad Wings’ Metheus, Anna, Lady Daryn, and Elder Nasha all widened their beautiful eyes in surprise, Anna with her mouth slightly agape, astonished.

”Wow~ it’s so big!” Anna stared wide-eyed at the colossal form of the descending Metheus, barely able to believe it. ”Re... Rein, how is your giant dragon so massive?”

”Rein, Your Crown, if I’m not mistaken, your dragon companion seems to be a Black Dragon of the Extremely Old Dragon level?” Elder Nasha, recovering from her surprise, answered Anna’s query for Rein.

”Elder Nasha, your insight is sharp as always; indeed it is so.” Rein laughed, nodding.

”Anna, so this time you won’t need to transform into a golden eagle for travel. Come, my lady.” Rein smiled, offering her a gentleman’s bow, and took Anna’s fair hand.

”Ah, but... but I heard that, except for the Dragon Knight themselves, some dragons refuse to carry even the knight’s relatives,” Anna hesitated, covering her mouth with her other hand, surprised and unsure.

”Well, that’s other dragons, but Metheus won’t.” Rein patted the back of Anna’s hand.

Of course, his relationship with Metheus was bound by a system contract, so naturally, there wasn’t such an issue.

Sure enough, just as Rein finished speaking, the black mountain-like giant dragon slowly lowered its massive body, seemingly to make it easier for Anna to climb onto its back, which made Anna even more delighted.

And seeing that a Black Dragon of the Extremely Old Dragon level was so obedient to Rein, Elder Nasha couldn’t help but sigh with admiration.

She’s dealt with the Dragan Imperial Dragon Knights more than once, and even for contracted dragon companions of many years, they still might not be as obedient as the black dragon before them.

Moreover, the power of the black dragon before them was extraordinarily formidable.

Soon, the black dragon Metheus carried Rein and Anna, soaring into the sky.

Elder Nasha and Anna’s mother, Daryn Yueling, exchanged a glance and then laughed.

”Rein, Your Crown has great strength, yet he is still just a big boy, with a kind heart.”

”See how happy they are together.”

”Now you can rest assured, Daryn,” Elder Nasha said to Daryn Yueling beside her. As her former teacher, she naturally understood her disciple well.

”Yes, I’m relieved. Rein, Your Crown is great and treats Anna well,” Daryn nodded.

This time, she accompanied him not only to express her gratitude to Rein but also to see how Rein and Anna interacted.

Although Rein saved her, if he couldn’t bring happiness to Anna, she wouldn’t agree to them being together, as she herself had painful experiences and memories.

But now, witnessing their time together firsthand, Daryn knew this was a genuine affection and joy, something which is hard to fake.

Even if they were pretending, it would almost be impossible to deceive her and her teacher, Elder Nasha.

Afterward, they boarded the Sword Holder Airship with Olena, heading towards Ferdinand Forest as well.

With dragon companion Metheus, Rein took just over three hours to travel from the Shirendil Plateau to Ferdinand Forest.

Even though Rein’s arrival was somewhat abrupt, he was still warmly welcomed by the Elf Clan’s high ranks, led by the Great Elder Auburn.

After politely declining the lengthy and enthusiastic welcoming ceremony, and stating his purpose, Rein was soon invited to the Elf Clan’s library.

Even in the Elf Clan’s library, there were not many ancient texts documenting the Fiend Demons, as the events occurred long ago. Aside from the texts that only briefly mentioned it, there were only four or five books with more detailed accounts.

Rein spent only a few hours to skim through and gained a deeper understanding of the Fiend Demons.

Essentially, he confirmed two points.

Firstly, during the Middle Ages, various races led by the Celestial entities engaged in a bloody and prolonged war against the Evil Gods, Giant Beasts, and Fiend Demons.

Though they ultimately triumphed, it cost many lives. The surviving branch of the Elf Clan began migrating to Ferdinand Forest around that time.

Meanwhile, nearly all the Human Celestial entities perished, one of the survivors being the Seasonal Wind and Ocean Goddess, who wielded that unknown divine artifact.

Secondly, the relationship between the Fiend Demons and the Evil Gods was indeed as depicted in the murals; they were not allies but had conflicts among themselves.

And it was precisely this second point that Rein focused on during this visit.

”This way, my chance of elevating myself within the Floating City Ruins has become a bit more certain,” Rein thought as he read this, his heart stirring slightly.
