Chapter 1562: Chapter 538: Crisis and Search

Rein quickly glanced at the document: ”.... application for promotion to a large Wizard School, willing to take on corresponding responsibilities and obligations...”

These documents, bearing the headers of the Dragan Empire and the Wizard School Union, are standardized forms. Rein naturally had no objections and immediately signed his name.

”Your Majesty Rein, please come this way. Once your school becomes a large Wizard School, you can reapply for a site. Generally speaking, the Empire allocates a region in the frontier areas as the residence for a large Wizard School.”

”Oh?” Rein raised an eyebrow, showing interest.

Although he had already considered the Shirendil Plateau as an option, it didn’t stop him from understanding the specific situation.

Soon, the group arrived at a room on the second floor of the Union’s headquarters.

As soon as he entered, Rein saw a large map on the wall—an overall territorial map of the Dragan Empire. It appeared as an irregular ellipse, with various symbols marked in regions near the frontier.

Rein knew these symbols each represented a large Wizard School.

However, even when connecting the areas marked by these symbols, excluding the coastline, they couldn’t form a continuous line along the frontier of the Empire. A significant portion was blank.

Evidently, this indicated that despite relying on the strength of large Wizard Schools, the Dragan Empire could not completely project its power over the frontier. This aligned with Rein’s understanding, as many frontier areas of the Empire were resource-poor, dangerous, and sparsely populated, naturally not warranting significant investment of the Empire’s strength.

Additionally, Rein noticed some places not located on the frontier but within the heart of the Empire also had symbols of large Wizard Schools.

”Your Majesty Perkins, how many large Wizard Schools does the Empire currently have?” Rein asked casually.

”Including yours, the Empire currently has fourteen large Wizard Schools. For instance, the Serafen School where I belong is stationed in the Pampas Grassland in the northwest of the Empire, while the Heladon School is stationed in the Erlis Lowland to the south... The Isodre School is stationed in the Shirendil Plateau...”

Perkins introduced them in detail.

”I see.” Rein nodded, thoughtfully.

”However, your count isn’t correct. There should still be thirteen, as the Isodre School’s demotion application should already be underway.”

”Hmm?”

Everyone present widened their eyes, looking at Rein with puzzled surprise, including Perkins, despite being an Imperial Guardian.

Demotion application?

Why would the Isodre School apply for demotion?

The most critical part was that if this were true, shouldn’t it be top secret for the Isodre School? How did Your Majesty Rein know?

”Could it be that you...” Instantly, Perkins recalled a certain rumor and couldn’t help but utter.

However, Rein had no intention of explaining. With a slight smile, he changed the subject, asking, ”Then these two large Wizard Schools in the heart of the Empire are?”

”Oh, this... That is the Chronos School’s residence—Hammerfall Mountains, known as a Deadland, shrouded in black fog spirals. To prevent sudden changes, the Empire specially set up such a place, monitored by a large Wizard School.”

Hammerfall Mountains?

Regarding the black fog spirals, Rein naturally remembered them. He once passed by Hammerfall Fortress when traveling to the Frostwind Prairie.

To Rein, the peril of guarding such a Deadland was no less than guarding the Shirendil Plateau. At least, the latter had a clearer understanding of the enemy’s numbers and power levels, while in such a Deadland, it was more uncertain.

”Your Majesty Perkins, I represent the Bixiu Mechanization School in choosing the Shirendil Plateau as our residence.”

As soon as Rein finished speaking, the room was silent enough to hear a pin drop!

The people present looked at Rein with a peculiar expression, as if to say: This is too ruthless, not only demoting the Isodre School but also seizing their residence?

Seeing their expressions, Rein couldn’t help but smile slightly, clearly understanding their misunderstanding.

”By the way, Your Majesty Perkins, there’s one more thing. I established an association named the Mechanical Association. According to the regulations, it needs to be reported to the Empire and the Wizard School Union.”

”Currently, the association’s members include only the Bixiu Mechanization School and the Isodre School. I hope the Union can help promote this, letting schools big and small interested in constructing mechanical creatures know about it.”

”Mechanical Association?”

”This... Alright! No problem.” Faced with Rein, Perkins found it difficult to refuse, so after a brief contemplation, he nodded in agreement.

”Thank you! I would appreciate it, Your Majesty Perkins. If there are any other procedures, you can contact me or Ms. Olena anytime.” Rein pointed to Olena at his side and said.

”You’re too kind, Your Majesty Rein.”

...

As they walked out of the Union hall with Rein, Audrey and Alicia were still in a daze. Was the school promotion and residence selection done this swiftly?

Normally, isn’t it required to test combat power first, and then execute a school promotion task? As for residence selection, it typically requires multiple discussions in the Union, taking at least ten days to half a month for confirmation, but now...

....

After leaving the Wizard School Union, Rein’s carriage headed towards the Sword Holder Headquarters.

Since Rein hadn’t appeared at the Sword Holder Headquarters for quite some time before, he intended to meet with Marshal Alfred this time.
