Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2994: Chapter 2995: Standard Quiet Room

Rest or meet Buru’s master?

Kaier instinctively looked towards Angel, knowing full well that while Buru was supposedly asking the opinion of ”the two of them,” the real focus was on Angel.

Without any hesitation, Angel said, ”Let’s meet your master first.”

After all, it is likely that I was specifically ”invited” by the other party. Otherwise, how could one randomly enter such a hidden Starry District without an ”invitation”?

Buru wasn’t surprised by Angel’s choice and nodded, saying, ”Alright, please wait a moment while I contact the master.”

Immediately, Buru flew over to the bar area on one side of the inn’s lobby, tinkering around and retrieving a petal that emitted a soft pink glow from beneath the bar.

Buru placed the petal on its forehead, and energy waves began to undulate around its body.

Judging from the current situation, this petal is probably a kind of communication device?

Although the pink glow seemed a bit unconventional, it was much better than a Crystal Ball, at least it was easier to carry.

After Angel quietly critiqued the petal, he turned his gaze to the inn’s lobby. The lobby’s setup was quite ordinary: ceiling of dark wood, gray rough stone floor, white walls smoothed with milk paste, neatly arranged square tables, long tables against the walls, chairs of varying heights and sizes, and a Star Crystal placed on each table.

If not for the Star Crystals, this place might be indistinguishable from a regular small pub.

The Star Crystals, although dreamy and mysterious in appearance, were actually just ”ordering devices.” Slightly more upscale than a regular small pub, but not much more upscale.

Aside from Angel and Kaier, there was another person in the lobby, but just one.

A fair-skinned young man, reading a book with gold-framed glasses, his black hair gelled and combed upwards, revealing a slightly narrow forehead.

He was dressed in a typical black medium-length suit, black suit pants, and shiny black leather shoes.

Overall, he seemed refined and elegant, like one of those spirited young professors from the Academy Faction.

As Angel looked at him, he seemed to notice Angel’s gaze and turned his head towards Angel.

Angel nodded to him, as a gesture of courtesy. The suited young man returned a gentle smile and then turned back to continue reading his book.

”That person seems like a wizard from the Academy Faction?” Kaier spoke.

This time, he was cautious, not speaking aloud, but using the Power of Space to envelop a message directed at Angel.

Angel helped fine-tune the use of Power of Space and responded along that channel, ”The Academy Faction is not something discernible simply by appearance.”

While the suited young man indeed resembled someone from the Academy Faction, Angel sensed an odd feeling from his emotions: a deliberately restrained, trembling at the utmost limit, and trembling excitation.

These emotions are peculiar and not typical of the usual emotions seen in the Academy Faction... Similar emotions, Angel had felt from those frenzied lives in Xinnai Land.

So, could this person be a madman? Disguised as an Academy Faction madman? In other words, a refined brute or a suited thug?

Angel shook his head to disperse the thoughts, choosing not to ponder further, as this was someone else’s business... Additionally, Angel sensed that this suited young man had no interest in him.

Just like the previous Witch Sharon, who initially wanted to find amusement in Angel, but later thought Angel was ”uninteresting.” The suited young man felt the same way about Angel, uninteresting and dull.

While Angel and Kaier secretly discussed the suited young man, the suited young man suddenly closed his book, stood up, stretched, and leisurely walked out of the inn, destination unknown.

As the suited young man left, Angel noticed Buru glance at the suited young man, eyes filled with some somber contemplation.

From Buru’s gaze, Angel distinctly felt that Buru seemed a bit apprehensive of the suited young man, even possessing some desire to prevent his departure. However, for unknown reasons, Buru ultimately refrained from acting, simply watching quietly as the suited young man disappeared from sight.

Not long after the suited young man’s departure, a white-haired, green-eyed boy suddenly dashed out from behind the bar door.

Buru also noticed the boy, eyes widening as if wanting to say something.

But before Buru could speak, the white-haired, green-eyed boy chimed in: ”I have inspiration, I need to go buy materials, yes, materials!”

Buru: ”But...”

The white-haired, green-eyed boy waved his hand: ”Talk later if there’s anything, I’ll be back soon.”

With that, the boy dashed away at lightning speed.

Watching the suited young man and the white-haired, green-eyed boy leave one after another, Angel remained silent, but Kaier was dumbfounded: ”Another, another wizard?!”

”The earlier Witch Sharon is an official wizard, the young man from the Academy Faction is an official wizard, and this boy is also an official wizard... Why are there so many official wizards gathered here?”

”What’s even more puzzling is why I’ve never heard of these wizards before?”

While official wizards in the Southern Domain aren’t few, neither are they extraordinarily numerous. Typically, any apprentice who ventures out will proactively seek information on official wizards... mainly to avoid inadvertently offending the Honorable Wizard.

Though Kaier has spent years entrenched in his laboratory, he’s quite knowledgeable about the renowned official wizards of the Southern Domain.

Recognizing one might be a lack of awareness, recognizing two could be gaps in knowledge, but not recognizing three or even finding all unfamiliar certainly puzzled Kaier.

Could it be these wizards are just non-mainstream, previously unknown?

Kaier’s mind was filled with questions, ultimately looking to Angel for answers.

But he obviously sought answers from the wrong person.

Angel typically didn’t concern himself with external matters, and this knowledge fell within his blind spots.

At this moment, Buru flew over and calmly said, ”What you’ve seen may not be the reality, even if it is reality, it may not be what you perceive. Besides, if every wizard in the Southern Domain were recorded, it wouldn’t be a good thing.”

Buru’s words were subtle, but their meaning essentially encompassed three points: 1. The appearance you see may not be the actual appearance. 2. Even if the appearance is of a wizard you’ve heard, does it confirm their identity by appearance alone? 3. If the Southern Domain had records of all wizards, it wouldn’t be a good thing. Those Otherworld bigshots coveting the Southern Domain might target specifically based on such records, leading to typical information leaks.

So, don’t think you’ve genuinely mastered most wizard intelligence, it’s all illusory.

The Southern Domain harbors more hidden wizards than visible ones. Furthermore, information about exposed wizards might not necessarily be true.

Kaier understood Buru’s message, which overturned his prior notions, causing him to fall into deep thought.

Buru didn’t concern himself with how Kaier processed this but instead cast his gaze on Angel: ”Apologies for keeping you waiting.”

Angel said lightly, ”No worries.”

Buru: ”I’ve just received news that my master is currently away from Starlight, so he might temporarily be unable to meet you two.”

Angel pondered for a moment, then softly asked, ”Your master, is it that white-haired, green-eyed boy from before?”

Buru: ”Whether yes or no, you’ll need to judge that for yourselves upon meeting the master. I am merely the elemental companion of the master and cannot divulge information about him.”

Buru did not explicitly indicate whether Angel’s words were correct, but judging from its response and its previous emotions upon seeing the white-haired, green-eyed teenager, Angel could essentially confirm his guess was right.

From the white-haired, green-eyed teenager’s statements earlier, it seems the other party is conducting research? He happened to have an inspiration but lacked materials. So he left the travel hotel directly to buy them.

The reason is quite normal, as Angel also believes that inspiration is more important than anything else.

But this also made Angel feel puzzled.

He was observing the teenager leave with his own eyes. Throughout the whole process, the teenager saw Angel, but his emotions did not fluctuate because of Angel at all.

This is very strange.

In Angel’s perspective, the white-haired, green-eyed teenager is the mastermind ”inviting” him to the Starlight.

But he has already arrived at the Starry District, even in front of the other party, yet the other party showed no indication whatsoever... Judging from the white-haired teenager’s emotions, Angel suspects that the other party doesn’t even know him.

So, what exactly is fishy here? Could it be that it wasn’t the white-haired, green-eyed teenager who invited him?

Angel attempted to ask Buru, but whenever it involved the topic of Buru’s owner, it played deaf and dumb, only saying to wait for the owner to return and everything would be clear.

Angel also knew that there was probably no way to inquire further, and he could only set it aside for now.

”In that case, let’s open two rooms first; I need a quiet space to settle down.” Angel was too lazy to ask Buru again and planned to go to the Wilderness of Dreams to ask Granny or Dororo later.

Currently, apart from the upper echelons of the Barbarian Cave, maybe Ironclad Granny arranged someone to invite him to the Starry District?

If all else fails, then foresight from Dororo should provide the answer.

Buru nodded happily: ”Alright, I’ll process the admission for both of you now. However, currently, I can only provide a standard quiet room; for a deep quiet room, you’ll need to become a member of the Starlight industry.”

According to Buru, once Angel meets its owner and confirms leaving a pheromone, he can become a member of the Starlight industry, allowing him to enjoy membership privileges within Starlight industry, including the privilege of a deep quiet room at the Starlight travel hotel.

Kaier asked curiously: ”Is there a big difference between a standard quiet room and a deep quiet room?”

Buru did not hide the situation and explained the different types of quiet rooms.

A standard quiet room includes an independent space that can prevent shielding and spying with special materials, effectively concealing energy overflow.

A deep quiet room is similar to a standard one but has an additional special effect: anti-prophecy.

It’s worth mentioning that, regardless of whether it’s a standard quiet room or a deep quiet room, the residents have ”control-level” privileges.

The so-called control-level privilege means absolute control over the quiet room. No need to worry about any tricks being played in the quiet room.

This is a great assurance for the residents.

This surprises even Kaier significantly. It’s effectively a temporary ”transfer of ownership” over the quiet room! At least, the tree house at the Bilun Tree Court cannot achieve this.

Considering this, 10 Magic Crystals seem acceptable?

Huh, wait, 10 Magic Crystals?!

Kaier suddenly raised his head to look at Buru: ”Did you just say a standard quiet room is 10 Magic Crystals per day?”

Buru nodded: ”That’s right.”

Kaier: ”What about a deep quiet room?”

Buru: ”If you qualify for it, it’s also 10 Magic Crystals per day.”

Kaier was puzzled: ”Both are 10 Magic Crystals a day? Why?”

Buru: ”Providing quality service to members is the purpose of Starlight.”

Kaier frowned: ”But what if the deep quiet rooms are fully occupied, how can you provide quality service to members then?”

Buru calmly said: ”A standard quiet room can be upgraded to a deep quiet room at any time.”

Such an operation?! Kaier was initially stunned but, after thinking it over, it seems feasible. After all, both standard quiet rooms and deep quiet rooms have the same configurations; the only difference is ”anti-prophecy”. And the ”anti-prophecy” devices can be completely manufactured as quiet room modules for upgrade at any time.

Kaier: ”Then if the standard quiet rooms...” are full, what then?

Karl wanted to argue further, especially while trying to negotiate for a discount, but before he could say anything, Angel proactively handed Magic Crystals to Buru: ”Open two standard quiet rooms first.”

Kaier: ”Master...”

Angel: ”You know, I need to settle down now. I am already satisfied with the standard quiet rooms, whether the deep quiet room is necessary or not is irrelevant.”

Angel was speaking from the heart; standard quiet rooms are already sufficient for him. Although deep quiet rooms have ”anti-prophecy” effects, his Blood Night Shelter inherently possesses anti-prophecy abilities.

Therefore, the deep quiet room is not that crucial for him.

...

After completing the procedures, Angel and Kaier moved into the standard quiet rooms.

To be precise, only Angel truly moved into the quiet room.

Kaier, on the other hand, after obtaining Buru’s consent, left Starlight and waited at Bilun Tree Court for Dox and the others to arrive. Kaier would then lead them to Starlight District 13.

After Kaier left, Angel activated control-level privileges and performed a meticulous inspection of the current quiet room.

After checking inside and out and confirming everything was fine, Angel began to examine the environment of the quiet room.

Comparing with the Bilun Tree Court’s tree house, the environment of this quiet room is certainly inferior.

Because the quiet room is located underground in the travel hotel, there is no beautiful scenery around. Even above ground, there are no good views, as the entire Starlight District 13 is within other-dimensional space, and having few trees to adorn the environment is already fortunate.

Though the environment isn’t great, nor does the quiet room have much decoration, Angel is quite satisfied.

The quiet room space is large, with an adjacent laboratory, cultivation room, and spell technique testing room. Everything needed is there, and things that shouldn’t be there are also present. However, those unnecessary things, like the ”spell technique testing room”, require additional payment if used.

Nonetheless, Angel is not here to test spell techniques, so he doesn’t care about these additional rooms.

After ensuring he is within a safe area, Angel retrieved the Indestructible Heart Mirror from his bracelet.
