Chapter 2968: Chapter 2969: Mutual Trust

Daylight Mirror Domain, Mirror Corridor.

Angel didn’t have to wait long this time; in less than five minutes, Laplace’s figure appeared in the corridor.

”The Heart Space can’t ward off the waves?” Angel looked at Laplace.

From Laplace’s expression, he couldn’t discern anything, but her quick return indicated that the test ended swiftly.

Judging by the previous scenario, this quick conclusion likely means the test results were not ideal.

Angel was already prepared for the Heart Space’s failure to ward off the waves, and the loss of the sturdiness trait.

However, to his surprise, Laplace shook her head: ”No, the results are far better than I imagined.”

The repeated emphasis of ”far better” demonstrated Laplace’s satisfaction with the test results.

”So, the Heart Space can really ward off the waves?” Angel’s eyes lit up instantly.

Laplace nodded: ”Yes, but only when the structure is at its most sturdy can it withstand the waves’ assault. A slight expansion would lead to structural instability and imminent collapse.”

”But this result is already very good.”

It means the original kilometer length and width inside the Heart Space can anchor in the Sea of Void Mirror.

Though it sounds like a simple statement, the significance behind it is profoundly deep.

Even Laplace couldn’t help but sigh: ”Since my birth, I have never seen any reflective space capable of existing in the Sea of Void Mirror... but the Heart Space did it.”

This implies that in the perilous Sea of Void Mirror, a safe zone has emerged!

For Laplace, who can survive long-term in the Sea of Void Mirror, this peculiarity of the Heart Space may seem useless, but for the other 99% of mirror creatures, it’s a milestone breakthrough.

If other mirror creatures learn that the Heart Space can remain in the Sea of Void Mirror, even if its interior size can only maintain a kilometer length and width, it can still become a Holy Land in the Daylight Mirror Domain!

This is the dreadful aspect of the Heart Space.

Although Laplace appeared calm on the surface, waves surged within her heart. Her being can persist in the Sea of Void Mirror, but only her essence, and she can’t grant others the ability to enter the Sea of Void Mirror.

Yet the Heart Space can do this. Even the weakest mirror creatures, under the Heart Space’s protection, need not worry about danger, even amidst the surging waves of the Sea of Void Mirror!

Laplace paused, speaking in a gentle tone: ”Moreover, the function of the Heart Space should not end here.”

Angel caught a word: ”Should?”

Laplace: ”I can’t confirm whether this function can be realized because the testing time was very short and the Sea of Void Mirror I visited just now wasn’t suitable for this test.”

It means Laplace has a hypothesis that hasn’t been verified, but she is confident it is accurate.

Just like when Laplace suggested Angel skip the mirror extinction site and directly test in the Immortal Mirror Sea, she was confident of success but still needed evidence to support her conjecture.

Laplace looked at Angel: ”If you are willing, we can continue to complete this test. However, we have to switch to a different location.”

Angel was uncertain about what the test entailed, but due to his trust in Laplace, he didn’t hesitate and nodded directly: ”Okay.”

In the ensuing time, Angel and Laplace continued their journey through the corridor.

This time, even though Laplace didn’t mention the destination, Angel could see they were moving further away from the center of the Mirror Domain.

Judging from the sparse occurrence of mirror light in life and death, they seemed to be heading toward the edge of the Mirror Domain.

Soon, the surrounding area was devoid of mirror light and pitch-black, as if truly walking within the void.

Yet, even when the mirror light was completely absent, Laplace continued forward, seemingly intending to reach the depth of darkness.

Laplace could see that Angel had doubts about the surroundings, and certainly more about their destination, but Angel did not inquire, choosing instead to follow her quietly, which made her feel inexplicably comfortable inside.

Is this what humans call trust?

After ten more minutes, as the surrounding darkness grew deeper, Laplace finally spoke: ”Our destination is the Sea of Void Mirror beneath the Abyssal Hollow.”

”What’s the Abyssal Hollow?” Angel wouldn’t have asked if Laplace hadn’t spoken, but since she did, Angel seized the opportunity to ask.

”The Abyssal Hollow lies beyond the psychological border, surrounded by an area of absolute darkness where any source of light is swallowed by the Abyssal Hollow. Legends say it leads to the Gloomy Mirror Domain.”

Angel: ”Meaning the Demonic Ghosts within the Mirror?”

Laplace nodded: ”But that’s only said to be the case. I believe the Abyssal Hollow does not lead to the Ghost Phantom.”

Angel: ”Why?”

Laplace casually replied: ”Because I’ve been behind the Abyssal Hollow.”

Angel: ”...” You’ve been there, and you still give me ’allegedly’?

Perhaps Laplace guessed Angel’s thoughts and said lightly: ”My having been there does not mean I know what lies behind the Abyssal Hollow. I can only confirm that it’s not the Ghost Phantom because I’ve also been to the Ghost Phantom.”

”I don’t know precisely where the Abyssal Hollow leads, perhaps to a more distant boundary.”

When Laplace mentioned ”boundary,” Angel recalled the term Laplace previously mentioned: psychological border.

”What does psychological border mean?” Angel asked, expressing his inner doubts.

Laplace: ”It’s the literal meaning. For mirror creatures, places without aggregation energy fall into the realm of boundaries. But this is merely a psychological border for mirror creatures; the real boundary of the Mirror Domain is unknown.”

Meaning, the place Angel thought had reached the edge of the Mirror Domain actually hadn’t.

Even though the phrase can be used to describe areas where mirror light does not flicker in life and death as borderland, it’s merely a psychological border, not the true border.

The magnitude of the Mirror Domain is incalculable, making the term ”boundary” more a figment of life’s imagination.

”Typically, mirror creatures avoid venturing beyond the psychological border because there is only darkness with no aggregation energy, like a vast wasteland offering no returns.”

”Especially the Abyssal Hollow region, where even light sources are consumed. Even if there aren’t significant dangers, mirror creatures regard this area as a forbidden zone.”

”And this is precisely why I chose the Abyssal Hollow, because it won’t be bothered by annoying creatures.”

Angel: ”Annoying creatures, meaning...”

Laplace said softly, ”Ancient Tooth Fairy.”

In Angel’s puzzled gaze, Laplace continued, ”The test I want to conduct needs to be in a place where the Ancient Tooth Fairy won’t appear, and near the Abyssal Hollow lies the Sea of Void Mirror, where the Ancient Tooth Fairy won’t go.”

The test involves the Ancient Tooth Fairy? Angel was about to inquire about the details when Laplace whispered, ”We’re here; up ahead is the Abyssal Hollow.”

Angel looked down, and everything around was pitch black, nothing could be seen, nor did he know where exactly the Abyssal Hollow was that Laplace mentioned.

However, Angel noticed one thing: the front of the corridor was plunged in darkness.

The Mirror Corridor had a faint glow, but not far ahead, all light had vanished, even the faint gleam within the corridor swallowed by the dark.

”Is that the Abyssal Hollow?” Angel pointed to the dark area at the end of the corridor.

Laplace shook her head, ”Not yet; the Abyssal Hollow is further ahead. Even if we pass through the corridor, it still requires several more minutes of walking. However, there’s no need to go deep; just staying on the outskirts is fine, as even in the outskirts, the Ancient Tooth Fairy won’t come.”

With that, Laplace gently opened the corridor, preparing to head down to the Sea of Void Mirror for testing.

However, just before Laplace was about to leave, she suddenly thought of something and turned to Angel, ”Would you like to join? You just need to stay in the Heart Space; the Sea of Void Mirror won’t affect you.”

Angel frowned, ”Me... Should I come too?”

Laplace indeed wanted to retract her words as soon as she spoke because the invitation was a little too abrupt. If Angel agreed, it would mean entrusting his life to Laplace, and had they truly built such a sturdy wall of trust between them?

Laplace believed future interactions would definitely establish this trust wall.

But for now, they had only reached initial mutual trust, and in this situation, making demands might instead create a gap between them.

Yet having spoken, Laplace found it difficult to take it back, so she carefully chose her words and said, ”I just feel that witnessing the test yourself might be more convincing than hearing me describe it to you. Nonetheless, whether to go or not remains your decision.”

Laplace’s considerations about trust were naturally also what Angel considered.

In previous experiments, Angel didn’t go mainly out of laziness. But now, with the potentially dangerous Sea of Void Mirror involved, going would mean placing himself beneath a precarious wall.

Therefore, facing Laplace’s inquiry, he indeed gave it much thought.

After pondering for a moment, Angel asked, ”Are you sure there truly won’t be any issues if I stay in the Heart Space?”

Laplace replied with certainty, ”I guarantee by the name of Laplace; there won’t be any issues.”

Having spoken, a gentle force of the contract dispersed from Laplace.

This was Laplace guaranteeing by her true name, forming the contract, and it was a unilateral contract from Laplace; it took effect without Angel’s consent.

The binding force of such a contract wasn’t strong; it was more meant to express Laplace’s attitude and ease the abruptness of her question earlier.

Angel fell silent for a moment, then finally nodded, ”Alright, let’s go together.”

Angel agreed to go not just because of Laplace’s attitude, but due to other reasons as well.

The highest authority of the Heart Space was in his hands, meaning within the Heart Space, he wouldn’t suffer any damage.

As for whether Laplace would deceive him and if the waves of the Sea of Void Mirror could actually affect the Heart Space, claiming there’d be no problem?

On this point, Angel was certain: no.

In a state of Hyper Perception, Angel could clearly sense Laplace’s emotions, discerning truth from falsehood with just a glance.

Of course, Laplace might notice Angel’s ability to sense emotions, but even if she did, all she could do would be to remain indifferent; disguising emotions simply wouldn’t work.

Thus, whether Laplace’s intentions were true or false, Angel could decipher.

And at this moment, Laplace’s attitude was by no means false.

Considering these factors, Angel chose to trust Laplace.

He believed that such trust now would lead to gradual strengthening of trust in the future, ultimately benefiting their relationship.

Certainly, in the event of an unexpected outcome, Angel had some contingencies.

While he lacked the power to flip the table, the Nightmare Realm had it.

...

Upon agreeing to proceed together, Angel first entered the Heart Space.

Within the Heart Space, Angel slowly approached the ”Heart Wall,” reaching out to gently touch it.

Immediately, a mysterious aura fluctuated.

The crimson ”Heart Wall” melted visibly.

However, this melting was merely an illusion; more precisely, it was the transparency of the Heart Wall. The wall remained intact, its sturdiness unchanged, but now allowed a view of the outside environment.

Angel could clearly see Laplace carrying the heart as she rapidly descended.

It took only two minutes for Angel to see the faintly glowing... Sea of Void Mirror.

Angel wasn’t sure how to describe the Sea of Void Mirror; it was indeed not a ”sea,” having no liquid, yet it bore characteristics of the ”sea,” stretching endlessly with rolling waves.

To liken it, Angel felt the Sea of Void Mirror resembled a realm of mirror light screens reflecting countless images.

Each mirror light screen displayed different reflections, some shining brightly, others dark and profound, some void, others tangible, revealing skies and land, mountains and water, even building interiors.

The majority of images within the mirror light screens were static, yet the mirrors themselves moved, this movement not the mirror’s intent but due to wave-like tides swiftly fracturing each mirror.

This fracture wasn’t like the kind from the Immortal Mirror Sea, but rather resembled ”refreshing.”

One moment, the circular mirror reflection showed towering clouds, but under the forced refresh of wave-like tides, the clouds rapidly dissipated, replaced by another irregular mirror revealing new vistas.

In these mirrors reflecting varied images, Angel also saw life, yet they swiftly dissipated, leaving most mirrors portraying empty scenes.

In just a few seconds, Angel seemingly glimpsed the diverse sights of the Pan-Dimensional Plane.

”This... is the Sea of Void Mirror?”
