Chapter 2979: Chapter 2980: Psychic Realm

What does Angel intend to do?

Hmm... He doesn’t have any specific plans, but that doesn’t mean he will do nothing.

Angel’s thought is that the affairs of the Vansel family should be handled by the Vansel family themselves. He can be the messenger in between, but it’s best not to intervene too much.

Previously, Angel was considering waiting until Yagluo entered the Crystal Origin of Dreams to tell him about the intelligence concerning the Vansel family. But now, Yagluo hasn’t entered the Crystal Origin of Dreams yet, and Angel has arrived at the City of Hot Gold.

That makes things much simpler; Angel doesn’t even need to be the messenger and can let Reeves handle it directly.

After all, this is a family affair of the Vansel family.

However, there is one issue to consider: whether Reeves is willing to meet Yagluo.

If this question were thrown to any other member of the Vansel family, it wouldn’t be a problem. But Reeves is different.

Reeves appears peaceful, but he actually has a very stubborn personality. He has his pride, and his self-esteem disguised by inferiority.

Even after his own death, he would rather entrust his soul to Angel than return to the Vansel family, or meet Heijue. He doesn’t want to meet those who care about him with this appearance and this state; he fears seeing disappointment in others’ eyes, failing to live up to their expectations... It may sound cowardly, but isn’t it also a reflection of inferiority?

However, Reeves also loves his family.

Angel believes that if the Vansel family were in trouble, Reeves would spare no effort, even consuming all his resources, or sacrificing his soul, to save the family.

But wanting him to openly and straightforwardly meet his kin is quite difficult.

This peculiar, obstinate, yet self-enhancing and self-respecting mindset makes Angel unable to determine if Reeves were given the opportunity, whether he would go to meet Yagluo.

Angel couldn’t figure it out, so he released Reeves.

The appearance of Reeves startled the Ancient Tooth Fairies, as they’ve seen souls, but a soul adorned with mushrooms was a first.

However, although the expressions of the Ancient Tooth Fairies showed surprise, under the suggestion of Sharptooth. Scale, neither the Tooth Fairy maids nor the Tooth Fairy attendants made any noise, silently standing aside as if nothing had happened.

On the contrary, Wolftooth Di-Bone showed great interest in Reeves, enthusiastically communicating with him and even wanting to cut off the mushrooms on Reeves to see if there’s a way to sell them at the Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy.

Faced with the situation, Reeves was somewhat surprised. However, seeing Angel and Laplace nearby, he gradually calmed down.

”Is there something you need from me, sir?” Reeves asked respectfully, bowing to Angel.

Angel: ”Indeed, there’s a matter related to you.”

Reeves was silent for a moment, seeming to grasp Angel’s implied meaning, and asked, lowering his head: ”Is it news related to ’him’?”

Angel didn’t keep him in suspense and nodded directly, saying: ”Yes. Due to some... reasons, I came to the City of Hot Gold.”

The City of Hot Gold! Reeves’ pupils shrank suddenly; he remembers clearly that not long ago, Angel clearly told him that Yagluo was in the City of Hot Gold!

”If you were given the chance to meet ’him’, would you be willing?”

Reeves didn’t answer immediately but took a moment to consider and asked: ”Did you come to the City of Hot Gold specifically for me, sir?”

Angel could sense the emotional fluctuations in Reeves after asking that question.

If Angel said ”yes”, Reeves would probably agree to meet Yagluo, most likely because Angel had ”specially” come to the City of Hot Gold, rather than from Reeves’ own heart.

Perhaps such an answer would make Reeves respect Angel even more, but... Angel doesn’t need to gain recognition through lying.

So, without hesitation, Angel said: ”No.”

As expected, when Angel said ”no”, Reeves’ emotions became somewhat dim, but soon Reeves adjusted his mood.

After thinking for a moment, Reeves spoke: ”I want to meet ’him’.”

Reeves’ answer surprised Angel a bit; initially, when mentioning the chance for Reeves to meet Yagluo, there was a hint of resistance in Reeves’ emotions. Angel thought he would refuse, but unexpectedly, he had now changed his mind.

Why the change of mind, Angel doesn’t know. Human minds are fickle, emotions fluctuate all the time, thinking you’ve grasped the emotions means understanding someone’s thoughts is too simple.

However, Angel didn’t delve into it further; after all, it’s Reeves’ personal matter. If he’s willing to meet, Angel will help; if not, that’s fine too.

With Reeves confirming his desire to meet the amnesiac Yagluo, Angel began to make arrangements.

Originally, Angel planned to personally take Reeves to find Yagluo, but when Sharptooth. Scale learned that Angel was looking for Dudubi, he offered to help.

He could send someone to invite Dudubi and arrange for Dudubi to meet Reeves in the adjacent VIP room.

Angel thought about it and agreed, as it was more convenient for him.

Soon, Sharptooth. Scale invited Dudubi over. Together with Dudubi came the familiar pink large sphere—Duduli.

Initially, Dudubi was a bit confused about why the Ancient Tooth Fairies invited him, but when he saw Angel in the VIP room, he developed a few guesses.

In Dudubi’s view, Angel likely hadn’t left the City of Hot Gold. Inviting him now is probably due to some incident that requires his beloved Duduli to resolve; or perhaps he’s needed as a local guide?

In any case, Dudubi never considered that Angel had found his past and even brought his kin.

As Dudubi smiled and greeted Angel, he promptly began inquiring about Angel’s situation.

”Did you cause some trouble?” Dudubi secretly transmitted a message: ”If there’s a conflict with the Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy, as long as there’s no one dead, I can help think of a way.”

Angel shook his head with a rueful smile, wondering what Yagluo might be thinking.

”It’s not me looking for you.”

Dudubi was taken aback: ”Not you?”

Angel nodded and gestured to the adjacent room: ”The person looking for you has already gone next door, you’ll know when you go over.”

Though Dudubi was puzzled, he didn’t think too much and walked towards the already opened door of the adjacent room.

At this moment, Duduli flew over: ”Can I, can I follow along?”

Angel: ”As long as Dudubi agrees...”

As soon as Angel finished speaking, Duduli flew to Dudubi’s side and whispered with him for a while, then they both walked into the next room.

Watching Dudubi hold Duduli like that, Angel fell into a moment of silence.

If you don’t mention it, it looks like a human holding their pet.

Angel shook his head, deciding not to think about this cross-species love... Reeves was already waiting in the next room, and it seemed he wouldn’t be needed for what followed.

Whether Reeves ultimately persuaded Dudubi to return to his ”Yagluo” identity or not didn’t matter to Angel.

After all, he had already fulfilled his promise to Reeves. As for the rest, he couldn’t be bothered.

...

What Reeves and Dudubi discussed in the next room, Angel didn’t know, nor did he eavesdrop.

While the Vansel family was dealing with internal issues, Wolftooth Kin finally leisurely arrived at the City of Hot Gold.

It is worth mentioning that Wolftooth Kin’s arrival attracted the attention of many mirror creatures because he was brought by a giant dragon almost fifty meters tall. However, the dragon only appeared for a moment, bringing Wolftooth Kin into the City of Hot Gold, then left the dome.

Although the appearance didn’t last long, through the mirror light projection equipment in the VIP room, Angel was able to clearly see its true form.

It resembled an Abyssal Dragon in appearance, but its aura was much weaker than an Abyssal Dragon, and its body more akin to a mini Abyssal Dragon.

In terms of physical features, its biggest distinction from an Abyssal Dragon was its scales. They appeared silver but had an overlay of pitch-black iridescence, revealing upon closer inspection that these scales were actually pieces of mirror.

”Is this the Mirror Dragon Clan? They do look rather magnificent,” Angel whispered.

”Consider it a young Mirror Dragon, probably just in adolescence, only Mirror Dragons at this stage enjoy wandering around,” Glaipnir said. ”Generally, Mirror Dragons in their youth aren’t much into moving around.”

Though Mirror Dragons tend to be lazy, they are considered top-tier in the Mirror Domain regarding power.

Moreover, there is reason for their laziness. When Mirror Dragons rest, their mirror-like scales fully stretch out, with each scale able to absorb and transmute aggregation energy, significantly enhancing the accumulation efficiency.

Thus, the more sedentary a Mirror Dragon is, the stronger it becomes.

Of course, active Mirror Dragons also have methods to grow stronger, potentially even faster; but when comparing the ease of gaining stable power without effort to achieving slightly more power with great effort, most Mirror Dragons choose to remain at home.

Not just the Mirror Dragons; when Angel heard their training merely required lying flat, he was filled with envy.

”However, despite most Mirror Dragons being lazy, they are deeply protective of their kin, especially the young ones. Their cohesion is not inferior to the Pi Luoxiu Clan,” Glaipnir said, ”Though it seemed Wolftooth Kin was brought by a juvenile, I am certain there is still an adult Mirror Dragon silently protecting it.”

Glaipnir spoke with certainty, but Sharke Tooth. Scale had some doubts, ”The Hundred-Dragon Divine Kingdom is so close to the City of Hot Gold, there’s no need to send an adult Mirror Dragon for protection, right?”

Glaipnir replied, ”It wasn’t necessary before, but since that event, the Mirror Dragon Clan has become much more cautious.”

”That event?” Sharke Tooth. Scale was unclear about the event Glaipnir referred to.

Glaipnir did not elaborate further. The event was a secret of the Hundred-Dragon Divine Kingdom, not for outside transmission; she knew because she was involved in it.

Understanding the possible sensitivity, Sharke Tooth. Scale refrained from further inquiry. However, on the other side, Angel seemed to grasp something: ”That incident two thousand years ago?”

Glaipnir paused, ”How do you know?”

After speaking, Glaipnir seemed to understand, glanced at Laplace, and softly said, ”Yes, indeed, that incident caused some internal changes within the Mirror Dragons.”

Two thousand years ago, a juvenile Mirror Dragon was attacked and disappeared, and divination by Glaipnir confirmed the juvenile Mirror Dragon’s demise. This was the direct cause of changes within the Mirror Dragon community.

Precisely because of this incident, the Mirror Dragons’ protection towards their young heightened another degree.

On the surface, it might appear that a solitary juvenile Mirror Dragon was frolicking outside, even unknown to itself that it was being silently watched over by an adult Mirror Dragon.

”The Hundred-Dragon Divine Kingdom has refrained from allowing outsiders not to protect the young,” Glaipnir said flatly.

While this protection may sound overly indulgent and excessive, for the Mirror Dragons, who find breeding challenging, reducing accidental death rates of Mirror Dragon juveniles by such means certainly offers more benefits than drawbacks.

As they were discussing the Mirror Dragon juveniles, Wolftooth Kin entered the Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy branch from the mirror light.

Led by a group of servants, he arrived at the VIP room.

Wolftooth Kin’s appearance was exactly like in the previous image, dressed rather plainly, with a cheerful and kind peach-shaped face.

After brief contact, Angel could roughly conclude from the emotions exhibited that Wolftooth Kin was inherently gentle and non-contentious.

So far, the few Ancient Tooth Fairies Angel had encountered made a decent impression on him; although they all had flaws, most of their hearts seemed relatively pure.

Angel much preferred interacting with straightforward individuals over dealing with complex human hearts.

At least, there wasn’t a need for overthinking.

Wolftooth Kin seemed fine and lacked the forgetfulness of Wolftooth Di-Bone; its only shortcoming might be... sluggishness.

Its speech was slow, much like an elderly grandmother telling fairy tales to children.

Wolftooth Kin wasn’t intentionally crafting this slow, rhythmic speaking style; it was purely habitual.

Though somewhat laborious to listen to, compared to dealing with an old forgetful person, Angel found this minor flaw of Wolftooth Kin tolerable.

After exchanging a few pleasantries and brief self-introduction with Wolftooth Kin, Angel moved to the main topic.

He took out the gem teapot, placed it on the table, and briefly described his experience of acquiring it.

After listening to Angel’s recount, Wolftooth Kin pondered briefly, ”You want to know the origin of this teapot?”

Angel nodded, ”Yes. If possible, I’d also like to understand the world it comes from.”

Wolftooth Kin thought for a moment and said, ”I see. I have indeed seen items similar to the teapot, and they should all come from the same world.”

”That world, I don’t know what you humans call it, but they refer to their world as...”

”Psychic Realm.”
