Chapter 2974: Chapter 2975: Honorary Elder

The outskirts of Abyssal Hollow.

In a pitch-black corner of the Void, a fist-sized fluorite floats, emitting a cold light source.

However, the range of the light source only covers about two or three meters, beyond which all light is swallowed by an unknown darkness.

”The light wasn’t suppressed by darkness, it just disappeared, as if space itself is distorted,” Angel looked into the deep darkness. ”Yet, I don’t sense any spatial energy fluctuations... it’s really strange.”

Laplace: ”That’s the nature of Abyssal Hollow; it absorbs all light. As for the spatial fluctuations you mentioned, they do exist, but inside Abyssal Hollow, not outside.”

Angel: ”What exactly is it like inside Abyssal Hollow?”

Angel remembered Laplace mentioning she had entered Abyssal Hollow before, but she hadn’t detailed what it was like inside.

Laplace shook her head: ”I find it difficult to describe. It’s dark inside too, but the darkness there feels different from the darkness outside; it feels like it’s a farther space, not the current one.”

”In any case, it’s not a Ghost Phantom. At least, I didn’t encounter any danger inside.”

Angel murmured softly: ”A danger-free Abyssal Hollow?”

Is it truly devoid of danger?

Perhaps it’s just that Laplace felt there was no danger...

Angel found it hard to believe that a ”phenomenon” with such a broad influence posed no danger and simply absorbed light sources. Furthermore, Abyssal Hollow exists beyond the psychological boundary of mirror creatures, so even if there weren’t absorbable light sources, it would still be pitch black here.

Laplace: ”Are you interested in Abyssal Hollow?”

Angel shook his head; it wasn’t that he was particularly interested, just a touch curious about the unknown.

”I’m just thinking about the possibility that you didn’t perceive danger in Abyssal Hollow because you didn’t ’see’ it.”

Laplace repeated the words Angel had said: ”Didn’t ’see’ danger?”

Angel nodded: ”After all, you can’t see anything in the darkness. You feel there’s no danger, just because the darkness blinds your eyes.”

Laplace pondered for a moment: ”Your perspective is quite unique. In Abyssal Hollow, it’s indeed impossible to create light sources in any way, as if a force is preventing ’light’ from being born here.”

She paused: ”According to your hypothesis, perhaps the darkness doesn’t just blind my eyes, but also protects me from being ’seen’ by danger.”

”But the true nature of it, who can say for certain? Perhaps in the future, someone will want to unravel this mystery, but it won’t be me... Just like you, I’m not particularly interested in Abyssal Hollow. As long as it quietly remains here without disturbance, it can simply be regarded as a rare phenomenon.”

Angel nodded and did not continue discussing Abyssal Hollow.

If Abyssal Hollow were in the Wizards’ Realm, surely some wizard would research it, but in the Mirror Domain, probably no one will soon attempt to solve the mystery. After all, located beyond psychological boundaries, few mirror creatures are willing to come here.

”Speaking of which, Glaipnir and the Ancient Tooth Fairy should be arriving soon, right?” Angel looked at Laplace.

They had already left Heart Space a few minutes ago, and given Glaipnir’s speed, they should be arriving soon.

Laplace nodded: ”Very close, almost here... Oh, let’s keep the term ’Ancient Tooth Fairy’ private, best to use a different name face-to-face.”

Angel gestured understandingly: ”Mirror Sea Scholar.”

Laplace didn’t say much more; she trusted Angel’s discretion.

Half a minute later, Angel faintly felt a subtle spatial fluctuation. As the spatial fluctuation gradually increased, a shimmering light flickered.

A mirror-like door opened in the Void.

This was the Mirror Corridor, and within the corridor, Angel saw Glaipnir hunched over with a cane, accompanied by an Ancient Tooth Fairy about the size of a newborn baby.

”Sorry, I’m a bit late.” Glaipnir spoke slowly, finally looking at Angel and apologizing again: ”I sincerely apologize.”

Angel glanced at Glaipnir, fully understanding why she apologized twice. Nevertheless, Angel didn’t reply but nodded slightly and turned to the Ancient Tooth Fairy beside.

This was an old-aged, wrinkled Ancient... Mirror Sea Scholar.

Unlike those seen in the Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy before, it had no wings and wore a thick scholar’s robe, adorned in a ”dazzling display” scholar’s attire, with a similarly ornate wand in its hand.

A sharp tusk adorned its head, embellished with various luxurious decorations, looking less like a tooth cap and more like a spire magic hat.

At least from appearance, this Mirror Sea Scholar seemed quite dignified.

On the other side, the Mirror Sea Scholar seemed to recognize Laplace, bowing respectfully without daring to look further, and then focused its gaze on Angel.

”A human, indeed?” An ancient voice emerged from the Mirror Sea Scholar’s mouth: ”The last time I saw humans in the Mirror Domain was... was when... how long ago?”

The originally wise eyes of the Mirror Sea Scholar quickly turned into two question marks.

After a whole ten seconds, it hesitantly said: ”It should have been three days ago.”

Angel: ”...”

No human had been seen for decades or even centuries, yet it saw humans three days ago and already forgot?

Angel couldn’t help but glance at Laplace, asking with his eyes: Is this guy reliable?

Laplace, in front of the Mirror Sea Scholar, transmitted: ”It’s reliable in its own way. It probably has lived too long, and its memory is somewhat confused.”

Angel transmitted: ”Lived too long?”

Laplace nodded: ”It’s called Wolftooth Di-Bone, once the Great Elder of Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy, retired a thousand years ago, now an honorary elder. As for its exact age, I don’t know, but it’s one of the founding scholars of Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy and a survivor of the Hollow Tooth Fairy spread incident.”

The Hollow Tooth Fairy spread incident initially arose from a major error in researching the Sea of Void Mirror by the Tooth Fairies, causing some to fall into the Sea of Void Mirror and became Hollow Tooth Fairies.

The reason for its ”spread” was that many Tooth Fairies recklessly attempted to save those who plummeted into the Sea of Void Mirror and also fell into it.

In essence, it was akin to saving a grandparent like the gourd children, each sacrificing themselves.

This incident is also one of the sources of Tooth Fairies’ division.

Back then, most Tooth Fairies considered the ruins too dangerous, and researching the Sea of Void Mirror not worth the risks, thus led by some elders, they established what later became Tooth Fairy Paradise.

However, a small number of scholars stayed in Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy, continuing their research on the Sea of Void Mirror. At that time, there was still harmony between the ruins and the Paradise, but the ruins continuously consumed resources from the Paradise with little returns, causing Tooth Fairies in the Paradise to feel taken advantage of, with much dissatisfaction.

This laid the groundwork for the later true split of the Tooth Fairies.

And the Queen’s coronation event ignited this fuse.

After the Tooth Fairy Queen ascended the throne, she severed the resources from the Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy, thoroughly dividing the Tooth Fairy from the Mirror Sea Scholars.

The Tooth Fairies of Tooth Fairy Paradise thought that the Mirror Sea Scholars without resources would yield, but they did not. The Mirror Sea Scholars reversed their fortunes with their object search method after a long period of isolation.

Nowadays, they refer to themselves only as Mirror Sea Scholars, completely parting ways with the Tooth Fairies. Even though they are still technically of the Tooth Fairy race.

And this Wolftooth Di-Bone, having endured the Hollow Tooth Fairy spread incident, means it has survived since the split of the Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy as an Ancient Tooth Fairy.

This implies the other has lived for at least three thousand years.

No wonder Lady Laplace said it has lived for a long time.

For the Tooth Fairies, who are not a long-lived species, Wolftooth Di-Bone is probably the oldest generation of Tooth Fairies.

Such an ancient Mirror Sea Scholar, logically, should not leave the Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy... The object search method also doesn’t require such a venerable elder.

The reason why Wolftooth Di-Bone is here must be something else.

Angel communicated: ”Did Glaipnir invite it?”

Laplace pondered for a moment before saying: ”Yes, she also didn’t tell me beforehand that Wolftooth Di-Bone was coming.”

Upon hearing this, Angel understood. Glaipnir was evidently aware that her previous attempt to test Angel with Laplace was not a friendly gesture. To mend any potential rift, she brought Wolftooth Di-Bone.

Because she knows well that Angel is inclined to establish a good connection with the Ancient Tooth Fairies, and Wolftooth Di-Bone is the honorary elder with the most influence in the Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy. Its words can definitely sway the Ruins.

Glaipnir plays her cards well, employing a two-pronged strategy.

However, can Glaipnir’s actions actually mend the rift?

Angel never felt there’s any rift with Laplace; as for Glaipnir... that’s a different matter.

...

”Seen humans three days ago?” Angel touched his chin: ”Seems there are quite a few humans in the Daylight Mirror Domain.”

Wolftooth Di-Bone chuckled: ”Not really. A junior of mine has estimated the current known number of humans; I recall, it’s approximately...”

Wise eyes once again drifted into a question mark.

After a few seconds, Wolftooth Di-Bone coughed twice: ”Approximately a group.”

Angel: ”...”

So, is this a joke, or serious?

Angel looked carefully at Wolftooth Di-Bone, and finally confirmed, it was serious.

Seriously... forgetting.

Perhaps seeing Angel’s expression of speechlessness, Wolftooth Di-Bone seemed to guess something, and laughed heartily: ”I had good memory before, but later accidentally fell into the Sea of Void Mirror, and my memory got worse.”

Glaipnir said lightly: ”The Sea of Void Mirror only removes memories; even if it turns into a Hollow Tooth Fairy, at most past memories are gone, it doesn’t make memory worse.”

Wolftooth Di-Bone: ”Is that so? Why don’t I remember?”

Wolftooth Di-Bone scratched the tusks on his head, looking very innocent.

”We should get back to the topic.” Angel pinched his brow, expression somewhat speechless.

Wolftooth Di-Bone: ”Right right, let’s discuss serious matters first. After all, we can’t delay the object search; I remember Glaipnir told me the search is for another red Daruma doll, right? I brought a blue one of the same kind, just in time for the object search method...”

Glaipnir coughed once, interrupting Wolftooth Di-Bone: ”Not a Daruma doll, I said it’s the lid embedded with blue sapphire and ruby.”

Wolftooth Di-Bone looked at Glaipnir in shock: ”Did I, did I remember wrong?”

Angel looked at Laplace, this time he directly communicated again: ”Is he really reliable?”

Seeing his forgetful appearance, Angel really doubts whether Wolftooth Di-Bone can perform the search. Even if he can, would he forget what he’s supposed to do halfway through?

Laplace who previously answered with ”Probably reliable”, this time hesitated instead: ”How about, let’s try first.”

Angel sighed, took out the gemstone lid, and handed it to Wolftooth Di-Bone.

Wolftooth Di-Bone received the lid and examined it for a moment, then stretched lazily. When Angel thought Wolftooth Di-Bone was about to act, Wolftooth Di-Bone turned to Angel: ”By the way, I nearly forgot to introduce myself. I’m called Longtooth Chin.”

Angel, puzzled, also made a self-introduction, but inside he was full of suspicion... Isn’t he called Wolftooth Di-Bone?

Glaipnir then softly said: ”Longtooth Chin is your daughter, you are called Wolftooth Di-Bone.”

Wolftooth Di-Bone paused, as if recalling something: ”Right right, I’m called Wolftooth Di-Bone, my daughter is called Longtooth Chin. Speaking of my daughter, she’s a good child, I remember...”

Before Wolftooth Di-Bone could sink into memories, Angel interrupted first: ”Let’s search first. Other matters can wait and be discussed later.”

Wolftooth Di-Bone: ”Alright. By the way, what are we searching for?”

Angel: ”...”

...

Glaipnir led Wolftooth Di-Bone to search, while Angel and Laplace stayed put.

The air was silent for a moment, then Laplace softly said: ”If nothing is found...”

Angel waved his hand: ”Doesn’t matter, I can already foresee this outcome.”

Laplace apologized: ”I didn’t expect Glaipnir to bring Wolftooth Di-Bone.”

Angel already accepted this point, and didn’t mind much, even having the mood to tease: ”So, does Lady Laplace still feel that Glaipnir and you are the same person?”

This time Laplace didn’t categorically reply as before, but hesitated for a moment, then said: ”She is me, but she is also not me.”

Angel showed a ”You finally admit” expression.

Laplace: ”Temporal Body represents oneself at different times.”

Angel knew this, it’s the Mirror creature’s understanding of Temporal Body.

Laplace: ”However, I’ve made some changes. She is not only my Temporal Body, but also... another possibility of mine.”
