Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2982: Chapter 2983: Fearful of Gain and Loss

The door of the adjacent VIP room opened, signaling the end of the conversation between Reeves and Yagluo.

Just as Angel pondered what the outcome of their discussion might be, a pink sphere squeezed through the door gap and swiftly darted towards Angel.

The next moment, Angel felt his arm being embraced by the pink sphere.

”I never expected you to care so much. Thank you so much, I can’t believe you found Dudubi’s past so quickly...”

”I’m so moved!”

Excited words spilled from the mouth of the pink sphere.

Without a doubt, the pink sphere was Duduli.

Angel was about to respond with ”You’re welcome, no problem,” but upon looking down, he noticed that although Duduli was expressing words of excited gratitude, her gaze was fiercely fixed on Angel.

Immediately afterward, Angel heard Duduli whisper, ”Quickly, take that mushroom evil spirit away and don’t come back for a while! Also, next time, don’t bring the mushroom evil spirit to the Mirror Domain!”

Mushroom evil spirit? Is she referring to Reeves?

Just as Duduli finished speaking, footsteps were heard behind the door, and Yagluo, under the alias Dudubi, followed Reeves out.

The moment before, Duduli had fiercely whispered her warning, but the next second, her tone transformed into soft, excited gratitude.

”It’s all thanks to you that we found Dudubi’s past; I’m so moved I don’t know what to say, I...”

Duduli’s tone nearly brought tears, at least in the eyes of others, Duduli seemed deeply touched.

Dudubi also gazed at Duduli, calling her name softly.

Duduli turned her head, and Dudubi gazed at each other across several meters.

The scene seemed full of emotion... Reeves beside them was even moved, pretending to wipe non-existent tears from his eyes.

But Angel felt it was quite disjointed; he hadn’t forgotten Duduli’s earlier fierce threat.

This little pink sphere actually had two faces!

As Angel silently made fun of it, Yagluo approached and respectfully thanked Angel.

The content was nothing more than thanking Angel for helping to find Reeves... and other uneventful topics.

When Yagluo wanted to express his thoughts and outlook on the future, Duduli quickly interrupted him.

”You’re probably still very excited now; it’s difficult to make accurate decisions when excited. Besides, Reeves needs to return to talk to your sister about what’s happening here. Let’s discuss this later.”

Reeves didn’t understand Duduli’s intentions; at this moment, he even helped Duduli by saying, ”What Duduli said is right, I also need to go back and explain things to Grandma Yitai. Moreover, those enemies are watching the family, and without memory, returning now might lead to an attack.”

Duduli: ”Exactly, you see, even the mushroom boy said so, why won’t you stop?”

Yagluo was a bit confused at this point, but since both Duduli and Reeves were urging him, he agreed.

Then, at Duduli’s urging, he once again thanked Angel and hurriedly left.

However, shortly after Duduli and Yagluo left, Duduli returned to the branch of the Ancient Ruins of Tooth Fairy under the pretense of buying something.

Duduli quickly arrived at the VIP room where Angel was and whispered a few words into Angel’s ear before swiftly departing.

Leaving Reeves in a stunned state.

”It... it came back again?” Reeves asked in confusion.

Angel didn’t answer, instead, he looked at Reeves: ”You persuaded Yagluo?”

Reeves scratched the mushroom on his head: ”Lord Yagluo can’t remember many things, but he can still feel the bloodline connection. Rather than me persuading Lord Yagluo, it’s more like the bonds of blood made Lord Yagluo consider reaccepting the Vansel family.”

”However, I can feel that Lord Yagluo currently has no desire for the Vansel family; what he wants most is to see Grandma Yitai.”

”After all, Grandma Yitai is Lord Yagluo’s sister.”

Reeves roughly explained their conversation inside, summarizing that Reeves used familial bonds to move Yagluo’s heart. Yagluo even expressed a desire to return to the Southern Domain. However, he was persuaded otherwise but still hopes to meet his sister, Grandma Yitai.

According to Yagluo’s own account, he indeed doesn’t remember Grandma Yitai, but he still possesses some items left by her. For instance, he has a necklace that is not a transcendent item, but Yagluo instinctively treasures it, and this necklace is actually a gift from Grandma Yitai when he was a child.

Besides that, there are some encouraging words from Grandma Yitai in his handbook.

Previously, Yagluo didn’t know they were from Grandma Yitai, but now, through Reeves’ explanation, he finally realizes the existence of his sister.

From these little details, Yagluo can already feel Grandma Yitai’s love for him.

So, even if Yagluo forgot Grandma Yitai’s existence, what he wants to do most now is to see his beloved sister.

Reeves spoke about these things with emotion. However, Angel didn’t feel emotional after listening but understood why Duduli would show two faces.

Probably still worried about Yagluo being ”taken away.”

”By the way, did Lady Duduli return searching for you earlier for any specific reason?” Reeves asked after finishing, recalling Duduli’s hurried visit earlier.

He felt Duduli’s expression was serious, different from before. — Well, though he’s not entirely sure if it was serious, considering the pink sphere’s facial features make judging emotions challenging. Speaking of which, Lord Yagluo’s aesthetics are indeed unique.

Angel: ”She didn’t say much, just requested that if Grandma Yitai intends to meet Dudubi, I can act as a mediator to bring Grandma Yitai to the Mirror Domain.”

Upon hearing this, Reeves seemed touched: ”Lady Duduli is indeed kind, no wonder Lord Yagluo loves her.”

Angel smiled but said nothing.

Following that, Reeves returned to the Rest Flower and fell into a slumber.

Then Angel looked at Laplace: ”Shall we leave?”

Laplace nodded, and together with Glaipnir, they left the City of Hot Gold alongside Angel.

Back in the Mirror Corridor, Laplace glanced at Angel: ”Where to next?”

The reason for asking Angel this was because he had mentioned earlier about having some inspiration to practice. What this inspiration was and what he planned to practice, Laplace did not know.

Angel thought for a moment, then softly said: ”The Abyssal Hollow.”

...

Throughout the journey, Laplace and Glaipnir didn’t ask Angel about what he intended to do in the Abyssal Hollow, speaking only about trivial matters.

”Did Duduli suddenly return earlier just to request that you bring Grandma Yitai into the Mirror Domain?” Laplace inquired.

Others may not have witnessed Duduli’s change of face, but Laplace, having been beside Angel, witnessed Duduli’s ”two faces” clearly and heard her cryptic words.

Thus, she had doubts about what Angel had said to Reeves.

Angel: ”Although Duduli didn’t explicitly say to let Grandma Yitai enter the Mirror Domain, she did say that if Grandma Yitai wants to come to the Mirror Domain to see Yagluo, she hopes I can help. Of course, it’s not helping for nothing, Duduli also promised to compensate me.”

Laplace frowned: ”Did she really say that? Then about the previous warning...”

Angel chuckled: ”What is said and what is done, should be looked at separately.”

Duduli indeed was initially acting for Dudubi, playing the role of a virtuous wife on one hand, while harshly speaking in secret codes to Angel on the other.

But later, Duduli turned around to find Angel, and what she said was indeed hoping Angel could help Grandma Yitai to see Yagluo.

It sounds a bit contradictory, but it’s actually not hard to understand.

In the end, Duduli loves Yagluo; Yagluo’s wishes are also her wishes.

So, when Yagluo showed a desire to seek the past, Duduli was willing to help search. Yagluo wanted to see his sister, and naturally, Duduli would not refuse.

As for the harsh words at the beginning, they indeed represented a part of Duduli’s thoughts.

But thoughts are inherently changing all the time, not to mention that Duduli’s harsh words at the start were just to tell Angel not to bring Reeves in.

It’s not hatred towards Reeves but rather that his sudden intrusion disrupted their peaceful lives, and seeing that Reeves was about to change their lives, naturally made Duduli feel a bit uneasy.

This unease caused Duduli to instinctively throw a fit, or rather, have a little tantrum.

But Duduli didn’t really want to stop Yagluo from seeking the past, and afraid of Angel misunderstanding, she turned around to find Angel to patch up the earlier harsh words.

However, Duduli actually didn’t need to turn around and patch things up, as Angel wouldn’t misunderstand anyway.

Because from the start, Angel had confirmed Duduli’s feelings through emotional sensing.

The excitement Duduli showed when she was the first to dash out of the VIP room, and her gratitude towards Angel afterwards... was not fake; she was indeed very excited.

No matter what, Dudubi is also her beloved. Dudubi recovering past memories made Duduli happy.

A part of the harsh words was influenced by internal unease, and another part was from speaking without thinking due to excitement.

Since Angel already knew Duduli’s real emotions, how could he misunderstand?

”Contradictory thoughts... it’s really strange.” Laplace was somewhat puzzled.

Angel smiled, not further explaining, just saying: ”This is probably, love.”

”I’ve seen a lot of love stories in the Sea of Void Mirror; indeed, love can make many issues complicated, sometimes leading people to do things they wouldn’t usually do, always worrying about gains and losses.” Laplace nodded thoughtfully: Duduli’s behavior seems somewhat similar to this.

So Laplace actually understands love quite well? Hmm... or maybe she’s an avid drama watcher? Angel silently wondered in his heart if her usual hobby is watching dramas in the Sea of Void Mirror? Moreover, is she watching pan-dimensional romance dramas?

Have to say, it’s quite, um, enviable.

However, there’s no need to envy Laplace in the future because with Heart Space, he can also watch dramas now.

Moreover, if his ideas and inspirations succeed, he might not only ”watch drama” but also gain some unexpected bonuses while doing so.

”By the way, the person in the teapot is likely from the Psychic Realm. Do you have any plans for him now?” Laplace asked.

Angel: ”About him... let’s leave it for now and talk about it later.”

Angel’s idea hasn’t changed. Whether to keep him or whether it’s worth training him still depends on what Dororo’s prophecy says. Until then, let’s just put him in the bracelet, as there’s more than one life in his bracelet, another wouldn’t be too many.

”Speaking of which, what does Lady Laplace think of the Psychic Realm?” Angel asked curiously.

Previously, Laplace mentioned she had seen many scenes of the Psychic Realm but didn’t know its name. Now Longya. Qin has filled in this information, but Longya. Qin only knows the superficial information of the Psychic Realm. As for Laplace, who has spent so many years watching dramas in the Sea of Void Mirror, could she have seen other related information?

Laplace pondered for a moment and said: ”I don’t have any special views. Also, I never specifically sought out memories related to the Psychic Realm. My impressions of this world are mostly of those fascinating things... what do you want to know?”

”Do you know about the sub-continent at the periphery of the Psychic Realm that Longya. Qin mentioned?”

Laplace shook her head: ”Perhaps I’ve seen images of the sub-continent, but I can’t be sure.”

After all, reflections from the Sea of Void Mirror don’t come with a label indicating which world they’re from. Specific world identifications require other positioning methods.

Laplace does have some special positioning methods, such as leaving those images in the Forest of Memories and then analyzing and positioning them, or astrological positioning. But the Forest of Memories’ capacity is limited, so Laplace tends to only keep very special reflections there.

Those reflections seen as insignificant, she simply forgets after seeing.

The Psychic Realm... currently doesn’t have any reflections worth engraving into the Forest of Memories for Laplace.

”Then, in your view, how does the Psychic Realm compare with the Wizards’ Realm?” Angel paused: ”Not the entire Wizards’ Realm, just the Southern Domain.”

Laplace thought for a while: ”This question is too broad, and I can’t answer it. If we were to compare world-wise, it’s hard, they are too vastly different.”

The Psychic Realm has its interesting points, but the Wizards’ Realm is even more special. Even the currently declining Southern Domain is not comparable to the Psychic Realm.

Angel then asked some questions about the Psychic Realm’s strength, such as the overall strength compared to the Southern Domain? Also, the Mind Master’s combat methods? The comparison of Mind Masters and Bloodline aspects, etc.

However, Laplace’s answers were mostly ”incomparable” or ”ineffective answer.”

The only surprising answer for Angel was when he asked about the pinnacle combat power of the Mind Masters; Laplace provided a piece of information.

—The Psychic Realm possesses a Four-Star Mind Master!

According to Laplace, she had seen an image where a certain country in the Psychic Realm was suddenly ravaged by a giant beast attacking the capital.

Even with all Three-Star Mind Masters dispatched, the disaster was not quelled. At that time, a Four-Star Mind Master appeared.

Under the attack of this Four-Star Mind Master, the giant beast disaster was finally quelled.

It sounds like a very ordinary hero story, but the exposed information shocked Angel greatly.

It should be known, from current Southern Domain records, the strongest in Hante World are the Five Three-Star Mind Masters.

Yet now, a Four-Star Mind Master has appeared?!

Was this not recorded, or is this Four-Star Mind Master something from thousands of years ago, irrelevant to the present?

And according to Laplace, after repelling the giant beast, this Four-Star Mind Master disappeared.

A literal disappearance.

As seen in the image by Laplace, after defeating the giant beast, the Four-Star Mind Master shattered space right in front of a group of Three-Star Mind Masters and vanished.

It seems like they went to another world.

Could this mean that the high-end combat power of Hante World isn’t in this realm but in another world?

Angel didn’t know if this conjecture was correct... maybe it would be worth asking the Lord Tree Spirit or Lord Reine after returning?
