Chapter 2219: Chapter 2220: Air Rings

Although Angel isn’t like Toby, who can use Gryphon transformation to make the enemy’s emotions turn into rage, he can use the Nightmare Illusion to guide the emotional shifts of enemies caught in illusion techniques.

For this reason, Angel started by using Nightmare Illusion, not only manifesting an illusionary avatar but also utilizing emotional control to enrage Chimera, thus probing Chimera’s abilities.

While engulfed in flames of anger, Chimera found it hard to distinguish between real and fake illusions, revealing its trump cards one by one.

Now, Angel already understands Chimera’s abilities, resolving it seems too easy.

Within less than two minutes, Angel constrained Chimera to a very small area where its three wind pillars couldn’t exert any effect.

However, by this point, Chimera also noticed some of Angel’s tricks. Knowing that Angel was deliberately provoking it, Chimera also began to forcibly suppress its emotions to calm itself.

After much effort, Chimera regained some calmness, its thoughts returning to normal; right then, Angel’s eyes suddenly emitted a ghostly light.

Chimera, caught unawares, lifted its head and happened to see those eyes gleaming with eerie brilliance.

Chimera’s entire body instantly went rigid, a trace of panic evident in its expression.

Nightmare Illusion Art of Fear!

The previously suppressed emotions, attracted by the Nightmare Illusion, coupled with Angel’s Art of Fear, inundated Chimera once more with a wave of emotions. This time, unlike the rage that brought it berserk strength before, it faced fear—the worry of friends’ fate, the fear of battle failure, the dread of death and disappearance...

Under the shadow of the Art of Fear, Chimera fell into short-term cognitive disruption.

At this moment, Angel casually approached Chimera, his fingertip pointing at the lion’s brow, Heart Illusion power surged into its body.

After finishing all this, Angel glanced at the goat’s head on Chimera’s back and the snake head of its tail.

Unlike the Tri-headed Lionhound, Chimera’s goat head and snake head seemed not to have independent spirit intelligence, but to be safe, he decided to deal with the goat head and snake head as well.

Threefold Heart Illusion augmentation, Chimera was thoroughly trapped in an inescapable hallucination.

Then, under the guidance of the external Mist Illusion, Chimera dazedly left the original spot, its figure vanished into the boundless white mist.

After Chimera departed, Angel suddenly paused, turning to look toward the southeast.

Just five seconds ago, Angel received a mental message sent by Earl Mi.

According to the message, Earl Mi and Hurricane are still in combat, both sides are incredibly strong and unable to subdue each other at once, resulting in a stalemate. Amidst their standoff, Hurricane noticed the strangeness of this battlefield and apparently intends to break into the Mist Battlefield.

In other words, Earl Mi now not only has to stop Hurricane from looking for Toby but also keep Hurricane from entering the Mist Battlefield.

Though Earl Mi can temporarily block Hurricane, as long as the Mist Battlefield remains silent, Hurricane’s mentality becomes increasingly abnormal; once it decides to fully burst into the Mist Battlefield, Earl Mi might also be unable to hold it back.

Therefore, Earl Mi sent the mental message reminding Angel to pay attention here.

After reading Earl Mi’s message, apart from his gaze becoming slightly solemn, there were no other emotional changes in Angel. Because he anticipated this situation from the beginning, after all, Hurricane brought nearly a hundred subordinates this time, yet all these subordinates entered the Mist Battlefield without creating a ripple, which is suspicious in itself.

Additionally, the three Wind Generals are also in the Mist Battlefield, but still, there are no intense energy fluctuations, which would certainly make Hurricane suspicious, worrying if something went wrong inside the Mist Battlefield.

Hence, Angel had foreseen this scenario. Just didn’t expect it to come so quickly.

Now, if Hurricane breaks into the Mist Battlefield, with its strength, it should be able to dismantle the Mist Illusion in a very short time.

However, since Angel anticipated the current situation, he’s definitely not unprepared.

From the start, he decided to use Heart Illusion in coordination with the external illusion to trap the three Wind Generals within the battlefield. Not only to restrain the three Wind Generals, but also to control them with Heart Illusion, making them special Illusion Nodes, integrated into part of the entire external illusion.

Transform the illusion’s Illusion Nodes into special triangular structures; once the triangle forms, the energy level of the illusion will instantly increase.

By then, even if Hurricane enters the Mist Illusion, it won’t be easy to destroy it.

Now, within this triangular structure, Chimera and Lobal are already in place, transformed into special Illusion Nodes, leaving only the last Wind General Kraken.

Therefore, what Angel must do now is compete with Hurricane for time, definitely before Hurricane notices something amiss and madly charges into the Mist Battlefield, to also resolve Kraken!

As long as Kraken is controlled, once the triangle structure forms, the scale of victory will swing back to their side!

With that in mind, Angel looked at the battlefield outside to ensure Toby and Earl Mi were still safe, then turned and immersed himself into the mist.

...

At this moment, the mist on the battlefield has become increasingly dense. Though Kraken isn’t as clever as other Wind Generals, with each flight, it releases a massive air ring, enough to disperse the clouds and mist. However, now, even though the surrounding fog is slightly diluted by the air rings, it replenishes itself within seconds. This strange scenario has clearly diverged from the wispy clouds, more closely resembling a deliberately manipulated mist.

Kraken couldn’t help but look at the ’Angel’ running ahead—is it his doing?

Kraken recalled what Chimera had said earlier: they only saw the moving silhouette of the humanoid creature but didn’t perceive any wind flow generated by its run, which was very odd.

During the chase, Kraken also deliberately paid attention to the commotion created by the humanoid creature.

Nothing.

Not even a wind flow caused by its run, not to mention the surrounding mist hadn’t surged, as if the figure ahead didn’t even exist.

This also made Kraken wonder if Chimera’s statement might be true? The figure in front might actually be an illusion.

Though Kraken had countless doubts, it didn’t possess strong decision-making power like Chimera and Lobal. Even if it found something amiss, it remained hesitant and didn’t immediately discard the figure.

Therefore, when Angel arrived near Kraken, the scene he saw was still: the giant squid incessantly emitting air rings, chasing his illusion.

Angel quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Seems his previous judgment was correct, Kraken, compared to other Wind Generals, was indeed more stubborn and dull. Resolving it last was indeed the right choice.

However, Kraken’s dullness wasn’t entirely a good thing for Angel.

Because this means resolving Kraken through emotional influence won’t work. As for tricks like the Art of Fear, they also hardly succeed. When Angel initially learned the Art of Fear, Sanders warned him that if an opponent was too stupid or dull, not only would the Art of Fear fail, it could even make the opponent rampage.

If Kraken really goes berserk, it might be considered a kind of emotional influence? But in reality, it is of no use, because even when Kraken breathes, it releases vast rings of gas, and these rings are an all-encompassing group attack. This means that relying on emotional influence to find a gap to approach Kraken is impossible, and going berserk would only make Kraken’s gas rings even more terrifying.

For this reason, Angel couldn’t find the best way to deal with Kraken for a while.

Thinking that Hurricane might invade the Mist Battlefield at any moment, he didn’t have much time to think of a strategy and decided to face Kraken head-on to find a flaw during the battle.

Although Angel had decided to intervene directly, he still needed to find the right timing, aiming to maximize the current advantage.

Soon, Angel found the opportunity.

At this moment, the Illusion had reached the edge of the battlefield, with no wind creatures around. Fighting Kraken, a wind creature with such extraordinary talent here, was the best option. Thus, Angel began to slow down the Illusion’s speed.

Seeing the Illusion’s speed weaken, Kraken assumed it was exhausted and took a deep breath, spitting out a vast gas ring. Kraken’s speed instantly increased several times.

At this moment, just after releasing the gas ring, Kraken showed a brief pause.

Angel’s eyes lit up, seizing this opportunity, he rushed forward without hesitation...

After a roar of thunder, Angel’s figure retreated several hundred meters.

Indeed, he saw a gap in Kraken’s gas rings, but the gap was very short. Even though he went full throttle to get close, before he could approach Kraken, a new wave of gas rings appeared, forcing him to retreat.

This attack of Angel also caught Kraken’s attention.

It suddenly turned its head and saw Angel standing tall on the clouds at a distance. It was dumbfounded for a moment, looked back at the previous direction, and the Illusion was still there.

Two Angels appeared?

Although Kraken was confused, it made a ”huh——” sound, and realized the opportunity was rare, so it began to manipulate hundreds of tentacles below its gas bladder, attacking Angel.

After several entangled rounds, Angel retreated a few dozen meters again.

Not that he was injured, but because he discovered that Kraken’s tentacles could also release gas rings, with each tentacle capable of releasing over ten gas rings, and with hundreds of tentacles attacking together, the number of gas rings was terrifying.

The most important thing is that although these gas rings affect each other, they have no effect on Kraken’s body.

Even if the gas rings collide, causing a huge explosion in front of Kraken, it remains unscathed. In contrast, Angel, upon seeing so many gas rings appear, almost covering every angle, had no choice but to retreat.

Angel exhaled a long breath as he looked at Kraken engulfed by countless gas rings in the distance.

The giant squid might not be bright, but its talent is terrifying.

If Angel were to summarize and evaluate the three major wind commanders, Lobal is like a walking cannon for point damage most terrifying; Chimera is an attribute cannon, which may not be continuously released but is effective in specific scenarios; whereas Kraken is a sweeping cannon, launching group attacks at all times, though its point strength is average, it’s the best tool for sweeping.

Faced with this kind of enemy, perhaps bloodline wizards might find it relatively simpler, because although the gas rings are powerful, a bloodline wizard with bloodline abilities might not be injured.

”If Toby were here, dealing with Kraken would certainly be much easier than for me,” Angel sighed to himself.

Toby could transform into a Gryphon, which has a tough hide, allowing it to ignore the gas rings. However, facing the gas rings, Angel would get injured even if not severely hurt.

As Angel dodged the attacks, he pondered how to handle Kraken.

However, at this moment, he received a second mind message from Earl Mi.

Hurricane sent several strands of wind to the Mist Battlefield trying to contact the wind creatures there, seemingly to inquire about the situation. Yet, there was no response at all.

Hurricane started becoming anxious, and during the battle with Earl Mi, its attention on him decreased significantly, focusing more frequently on the Mist Battlefield.

Earl Mi estimated that Hurricane might have already decided to storm the Mist Battlefield.

Angel knew that Earl Mi’s mind messages wouldn’t be in vain; he must have realized that it might be impossible to stop Hurricane, hence issuing this final warning to Angel.

This meant he didn’t have much time left.

Angel took a deep breath: ”It seems I have no other choice.”

After making the decision, Angel raised his head, looked at the enormous Kraken, and dashed directly towards it.

Seeing this, Kraken immediately released a massive gas ring. Angel, facing the encirclement of gas rings, did not retreat as before but continued to dodge while rushing towards Kraken.

Currently, there was still some distance to Kraken, allowing him to dodge the gas rings. However, as he got closer, dodging became increasingly difficult, and upon reaching within a hundred meters, the gas rings released by the tentacles combined with those released from the gas bladder formed an invincible net to trap Angel completely.

Yet, despite this, he did not back away.

Initially, Angel contemplated using a more specific method to find Kraken’s weakness or gap, controlling it while dodging the gas rings. Such a method surely existed, and Angel was confident he could figure it out.

However, time was too tight, and if Hurricane really crashed into the Mist Battlefield, the consequences would be unimaginable.

So, Angel decided to confront Kraken head-on, come what may.

Even if he got wounded from the inability to dodge the gas rings, as long as it wasn’t a severe injury, there would always be a way to recover.

The actual situation was much like Angel thought. While a bit farther from Kraken, he had the means to dodge the gas rings, yet as he got closer, they became increasingly difficult to avoid.

Despite exerting full effort to dodge in a small range, he was eventually struck by a ring of wind, tearing his right shoulder’s clothing, leaving his shoulder red.

Seeing Angel injured, Kraken naturally grew more excited, releasing even more gas rings.

Initially, Angel was indeed struck by a few gas rings.

However, as time passed, Kraken noticed that Angel’s chances of getting hit by the gas rings decreased, and although Angel was moving closer rather than away.

The closer he got, the easier it should have been to hit him with the rings.

While Kraken was puzzled, it didn’t notice that meanwhile, around Angel, the energy field was changing...
