Chapter 2218: Chapter 2219: Chimera

The other two Wind Generals were still relentlessly chasing after Angel’s illusion, but as time passed, they began to harbor some doubts about the Angel in front of them.

”Why does this feel a bit strange?” said Chimera’s lion head. Chimera was also a three-headed creature, consisting of a lion head in the main position, a goat head on its back, and a snake head on its tail.

”Hmm—?” A dull and elongated sound came from the huge air sac on top of Kraken’s head.

Chimera knew that its companion Kraken, due to the air sac, had difficulty speaking, so it didn’t mind and said directly, ”We only see that humanoid creature’s moving figure, but we don’t sense any wind flow generated by its running. This feels very wrong.”

Kraken’s reaction time was long, and after a while, it finally responded, ”Oh—”

Chimera didn’t expect Kraken to give a good answer. It was more interested in what the tail head of the Tri-headed Lionhound had to say, ”Lobal, what do you think?”

Chimera’s gaze turned toward a place a hundred meters away from Kraken, where clouds and mist shrouded, vaguely showing the silhouette of a Tri-headed Lionhound.

However, after several seconds, the Tri-headed Lionhound still didn’t respond.

”Lobal?” Chimera called out again, suspicion flashing in its eyes.

At this moment, the Tri-headed Lionhound within the mist suddenly sprang into action. Its three tails seemed to turn into turbines, sending wind pillars toward some distant direction.

Chimera was stunned for a moment, ”Wind Tail Cannon? Why did Lobal suddenly use the Wind Tail Cannon? Could someone be attacking Lobal over there?”

While Chimera was pondering the situation, it saw the distant ”Lobal” roar in anger and dart into the deeper mist, its figure swiftly disappearing. It seemed, someone had provoked it to chase an enemy.

Chimera hesitated for a moment, looked at Angel still hanging in the distance, and then at the direction where Lobal disappeared.

”I’m a bit worried about Lobal, why don’t we go over there and check?” Chimera suggested.

Kraken made a long ”Eh—” sound, then pointed with one of its thick tentacles under the air sac, towards Angel in the distance.

The meaning was clear, if they checked on Lobal, what would become of Angel running ahead?

Chimera was somewhat suspicious that the running Angel might be fake; otherwise, why didn’t it feel the wind flow? However, this was just suspicion and not certainty. A bizarre creature devoid of wind elements running faster than a wind-element creature was unusual in itself, so a bit more strangeness seemed plausible.

If Angel were real and Lobal encountered a formidable enemy, going to support Lobal would result in being attacked from both sides.

Chimera was hesitant at this point.

But recalling Lobal’s earlier angry roar and the fact that it initiated the Wind Tail Cannon mode worried Chimera.

”How about this, Kraken, you continue chasing that humanoid creature, while I go check on Lobal.” Chimera was concerned that their battle would definitely be detected by Wind Island’s defenders. If that group from Wind Island tried any tricks during their fight, it would be troublesome.

Chimera expressed its concerns, and Kraken nodded in agreement.

”I’ll go take a look, and if things over there are resolved quickly, I’ll circle around and flank this bastard from behind.” After speaking, Chimera cast one last glance at the running Angel in the distance and then flew towards the direction where Lobal vanished.

...

The real Angel was standing amidst layers of Mist.

Whether it was the Angel ”hanging” on the two other Wind Generals, or the Tri-headed Lionhound that activated the wind generator to move to another side, they were all illusions he created.

However, Angel used Lobal’s illusion to simulate a battle state not to separate them, but because Chimera was suspicious of the illusion Angel.

To prevent Chimera from probing the illusion Angel any further, Angel decided to create a new disturbance to divert their attention.

This led to the scene where Lobal’s illusion activated the wind pillar mode and disappeared alone.

Angel hadn’t anticipated that Chimera, driven by its suspicions of the illusion Angel and the worry about unseen circumstances, would concoct in its mind the possibility of Wind Island’s ambushers, leading it to fret over both Lobal’s difficulties and the illusion Angel here, prompting it to propose splitting up with Kraken.

This proposal surprised even Angel.

His intention was indeed to divide the three Wind Generals and defeat them one by one.

But he hadn’t yet employed his method, and Chimera had already taken the initiative to separate, saving Angel a step.

Since the other two Wind Generals, apart from the Tri-headed Lionhound, were also separated, Angel now had to consider whom to deal with first.

The Wind General pursuing the Tri-headed Lionhound’s illusion was also a three-headed creature. However, its goat and snake heads lacked thinking abilities, and only the lion head exhibited normal intelligence. From the prior pursuit, this three-headed creature didn’t showcase much ability, and Angel guessed its Talent still lay in its three different heads.

The one chasing the illusion Angel was a giant, the largest of the three Wind Generals, only slightly smaller compared to Hurricane. It looked like a gigantic deep-sea squid, with an immense air sac on its head and hundreds of sinuous, twisting tentacles.

This giant squid seemed a bit sluggish, but its exhibited strength was incredibly daunting. Its movement involved releasing vast quantities of air rings from the head’s air sac. These air rings stretched for kilometers when released, creating a vacuum upon the area they touched.

In other words, the giant squid unleashed an area of thorough destruction just through unconscious motion and broad area pulse attack capabilities.

One can imagine, if it intentionally released the air rings, the destruction would likely be even greater.

Angel thought for a moment and decided to deal with the three-headed creature first. This giant squid would be dealt with last, not only because of its power but mainly because Angel suspected it had a Talent for massive clearing areas. If dealt with prematurely, its destruction could unravel the Illusion Nodes, potentially releasing the wind creatures trapped in the Illusionary Realm.

Therefore, Angel decided to let the illusion lead it further away while he resolved the three-headed creature on this side first.

After making his decision, Angel didn’t hesitate and vanished from the Mist with a light flash of his figure.

On the other side, Chimera was still pursuing the direction where Lobal had gone.

After about two or three minutes of pursuit, as Chimera gazed at the unyielding white mist ahead, a vague unease grew in its heart.

The main head of Lobal, though somewhat foolish, had intelligent auxiliary and tail heads, especially the tail head, which was said to have The Sage’s demeanor even by His Highness Hurricane. In such circumstances, would Lobal be provoked so easily as to release the Wind Tail Cannon?

Moreover, at that time, Kraken was not far away; Lobal could have informed them and then chosen the best method without having to unleash a big move right in the beginning.

Unless Lobal had been attacked so powerfully, it was forced to unleash a big move.

Yet along the way, Chimera sensed no chaotic presence; even the breath of Lobal’s activated Wind Tail Cannon was almost nonexistent.

Although the surrounding wind elements were chaotic, this was just due to the wild wind in the Cloud Sea, entirely different from the wind chaos provoked by battle.

Because of this, the more Chimera thought about it, the more something felt off. Was the Lobal it saw really Lobal?

Komayla’s gaze hesitated for a long time, as if a conflict was raging within its mind. Finally, it sighed deeply, deciding not to pursue Lobal for now and to return to Kraken instead.

As for Lobal, if ”it” truly is Lobal, with Tails acting as the strategist, even when facing the Wind Island’s defenders, there should be a way to escape... Of course, the premise is that the Head is willing to listen to the Tail’s advice.

After making the decision, Komayla immediately turned around, aiming to catch up with Kraken.

However, as it retreated not long after, a vague figure appeared in the Mist ahead.

Komayla stopped, the gaze from the lion’s head serious: ”Why are you here? Where is Kraken?”

At this moment, the one appearing before the lion’s head was Angel.

Angel: ”Kraken, is it that octopus? I thought you’d ask what happened to the Tri-headed Lionhound first, after all, weren’t you pursuing it initially?”

Komayla immediately caught the implication in Angel’s words: ”Was Lobal’s abnormal behavior earlier your doing?”

Angel smiled without answering, but his demeanor made it obvious to Komayla what the answer was.

Komayla’s gaze immediately darkened. Among the four great wind generals under Lord Hurricane, Komayla and Lobal, both being three-headed creatures, shared the closest bond.

Now, Angel’s actions suggested he seemed to have done something to Lobal.

This made Komayla extremely angry.

Emir, one of the four great wind generals, had already self-destructed into oblivion. Would Lobal follow suit? Thinking of this, Komayla’s eyes began to change, the color of the pupils in the lion’s head gradually turning from dark blue to bright red, a sign that its fury was about to erupt.

Komayla forcefully suppressed its rising anger, wanting to continue inquiring Angel about Lobal’s current state.

However, Angel no longer spoke at this time, occasionally raising an eyebrow, adding tension to Komayla’s already taut nerves.

In the end, Komayla didn’t want to ask anymore and roared, ”You deserve to die!”

Komayla then transformed into a sharp arrow, carrying immense anger, charging towards Angel, who still had a smile at the corner of his mouth.

Facing Komayla’s fiery assault, Angel did not collide with it directly but instead distanced himself while occasionally throwing some harassing Tricks, constantly stoking Komayla’s rage.

Under such provocation, Komayla’s fury only intensified, but when it reached its peak, it stopped the chase. This didn’t mean Komayla had calmed down but that it realized Angel was far faster than it in terms of speed. Continuing the chase, even if it exhausted the opponent’s energy, who knows how long it would take.

So, Komayla decided to use that move.

Komayla took a deep breath, and from the pitch-black throat of the massive lion’s head, a red glow suddenly emerged.

In Angel’s astonished gaze, a scorching wind column, surpassing everything in speed, shot straight towards him.

Even though Angel tried to evade with all his speed, he was slightly too slow to notice, and his left hand was directly obliterated by the high-temperature wind column.

The disappearance of his left hand caused a look of pain on Angel’s face, his gaze towards Komayla changing from calmness to anger and ferocity.

Upon seeing this, Komayla felt a rush of satisfaction. However, amidst this pleasure, it failed to notice that no blood flowed from Angel’s severed left arm. But even if Komayla did notice, it might not care, as after all, in the Tidal World, elemental creatures wouldn’t bleed even if they lost limbs.

Because of this successful strike, the scales of anger began to change direction. Previously, Komayla was chasing down Angel, but now Angel, in anger, sought opportunities to find Komayla’s weaknesses to settle the score once and for all.

However, amidst the rampant high-temperature wind columns, Angel found it difficult to approach, and even getting a little closer brought significant harm.

Finally, Angel found an opportunity, dodged the high-temperature wind column from the lion’s head, and approached Komayla’s side, launching a Wind Blade straight at Komayla’s waist and abdomen.

At that moment, the lion’s head of Komayla didn’t react angrily but instead smiled, a sense of satisfaction at its plan’s success flashing in its eyes.

In Angel’s horrified eyes, the sheep’s head at the waist, which had remained silent, suddenly opened its mouth, spewing a massive tornado akin to the double-power wind column of the Tri-headed Lionhound!

Angel used every bit of his strength to barely dodge this wind column, ending up behind Komayla.

The python, which Komayla treated as a tail, suddenly raised its snake’s head and transformed into a whip, striking towards Angel.

With a successful strike, several of Angel’s Phantom Limbs were shattered.

As Angel hurriedly retreated, the snake’s head opened its fang-filled mouth, spewing a green, foul-smelling wind column straight at Angel’s face.

Angel’s head exploded instantly, and even his body ceased moving, plummeting stiffly below into the Cloud Sea.

Watching this scene, Komayla couldn’t help but let out an excited roar!

No matter how fast he could run, in the end, he was still brought down by her ”strategy”!

Now that Angel is dead, the task given by Lord Hurricane is complete. The next move is to find Kraken and locate Lobal.

Since it encountered Angel first, Kraken is most certainly unharmed. Therefore, retracing the previous route to find Lobal should be the top priority.

Thinking of this, Komayla turned around, intending to seek out Lobal’s whereabouts.

However, at this moment, a voice came from behind.

”The lion’s head is hot wind, the sheep’s head is a hurricane, and the snake’s head is a poisonous wind. So, this is your ability? I must say, it’s quite diverse.” A crisp voice reached Komayla’s ears.

Komayla turned its head, shocked to find that the previously exploded-headed Angel was now standing not far away, without a single sign of damage, looking like he had just taken a leisurely stroll.

”How... how are you unscathed?”

Angel didn’t answer, instead continuing, ”The winds from your three heads are all wind columns. The energy structure is quite similar to the turbine wind column of the Tri-headed Lionhound... Hmm, or Lobal, as you call it. Did you develop your abilities by borrowing from it?”

Komayla was bewildered at this point, nodding subconsciously.

”Is that so? What a pity. Both yours and Lobal’s abilities are remarkable, but the development is really terrible.” Angel sighed. ”If Fafnir were here and saw such a crude ability, I imagine he’d beat you back into basic wind elements in anger.”

Komayla didn’t know who this Fafnir mentioned by Angel was, but now it only wanted to understand, who was it that had its head blown off earlier?

Komayla asked, and Angel calmly replied, ”Do you really think, in battle, that your opponent will tell you what his abilities are? If you really want to know, like I did before, you should find out for yourself.”

With these words, a dim light flashed in Angel’s eyes. From behind him emerged dozens of identical ’Angels’, each charging towards Komayla.
