Three Towers Game

Chapter 1550: Chapter 498: Infiltration

The Lower City District of Mechanical City is a place that can almost be called a lawless zone.

Of course, the lawless zone is only applicable to the lower class.

In both the Lower District and Upper District, it’s actually a world of dog-eat-dog, but the methods in the Upper District appear to be far more civilized.

Turning people of the Upper District into people of the Lower District, that’s the civilized dog-eat-dog.

While the people of the Lower District aspire to become people of the Upper District, they must become extremely ruthless, using every possible means.

Occasionally, a member of the Mechanical Race might rise from the Lower District to the Upper District, slowly becoming accomplished, even momentarily stealing the spotlight.

But the ultimate end is always to be devoured and slain.

Such is Mechanical City.

As strong as the Shadow Warrior, starting out so Long Aotian-like, yet helpless before the Four Emperors.

When the cloakless Xishu appeared in everyone’s sight, and when Xishu kneeled and bowed to a certain mech, everyone exclaimed...

Some envied that the Shadow Warrior must have sold himself to some noble.

Others, such as Old Yan, worried whether Xishu had suffered some sort of setback.

Daedalus knows best; he can see in one glance that his perfect creation, Xishu, is no longer Xishu. He’s among the few who know the true face of Zeroer Asdoku.

In the arena, the Shadow Warrior is still referred to by people as the Shadow Emperor, as if nothing has changed.

Yet everything has changed.

Daedalus sighed:

”It seems your ambition can only be reduced to zero.”

Mechanical City welcomed a hero, but the hero was quickly defeated.

...

...

The cold liquid made Wen Xishu feel somewhat chilly.

The world surrounding him felt somewhat unfamiliar.

The ground beneath his feet wobbled, like a precarious footing atop bricks floating in mid-air.

At that moment, Wen Xishu’s mind was unusually muddled.

”Where am I...?”

[Currently in mini-game ”Invasion.”]

Wen Xishu suddenly received an answer.

[Basic abilities: jump, double jump, sprint jump, sprint double jump.]

[Game rules: collect memories of various colors, but be careful not to be confused by the memories themselves, discern the main memory, and do not be defeated by various monsters shaped by the core defense wall.]

The brick ground beneath his feet started moving.

Wen Xishu saw, just ahead, a heap of strange memory fragments appearing, some red, some white, others golden.

These memory fragments formed a floating, upright circle in the air.

Yet at this moment, even with his highest jumping power, sprint double jump, he couldn’t touch those memories.

But the brick ground beneath Wen Xishu’s feet continually ascends and descends.

What Wen Xishu must do is leap at the highest point to make contact with those memories.

”Gold is at the highest point; I suppose the golden memory is useful to me... Hmm, my own memories haven’t been lost...”

After experiencing the initial chaos, Wen Xishu gradually recalled.

”I was invaded by Zeroer, my core data erased...”

”But strangely, I remember everything now.”

Countdown 47h59m22s.

Wen Xishu saw the countdown and the entire game scene.

He suddenly understood.

”It’s the power of Scorpio Form.”

Scorpio excels at turning serious duels into a game.

The harsher the situation, the greater the difficulty of the game. But regardless, compared to facing hopeless odds in a direct duel, a game always has the possibility of completion.

Just like a Go master, when faced with a mob, can turn the battlefield into a handicap game.

Although a handicap game is inherently unfair, at least for the master, it offers better odds than rolling up sleeves to fight.

”I’ve seen hundreds of futures, but all were invaded by Zeroer... Only when I decided to counter-invade using Scorpio Form, could I see a future not overly bleak.”

”I originally couldn’t invade Zeroer; among the Four Emperors, he’s the strongest in invasion. But the game-ification ability of Scorpio Form still turns this impossible scene into a challenging game.”

The game scene is very simple, and its gameplay is not complex, a classic jumping scenario.

The key is to constantly utilize various jumps to reach your destination and avoid all sorts of traps.

Of course, Wen Xishu admits...

If the difficulty was like Cat Mario, he probably couldn’t clear it.

Wen Xishu confirmed his appearance.

He hasn’t acquired any transformation ability. At the moment, he retains his original form. The game does not mention any abilities beyond jumping.

”It seems I can only jump and continually absorb memories.”

If he dies in the game, then the data invasion by Zeroer would be truly complete, and Wen Xishu would be thoroughly reduced to zero.

And Wen Xishu has only one life.

Although the surrounding environment and art style seem cozy, with floating terrain and colorful memory fragments...

This is probably the most perilous setting Wen Xishu has ever encountered.

”No matter what, let’s give it a shot.”

The floating bricks beneath him quickly ascended to the highest point, and at that instant, Wen Xishu didn’t hesitate, immediately sprinting and double jumping.

He didn’t go for the lowest piece, the red memory, but chose to touch the highest golden memory.

After obtaining the golden memory fragment, a prompt nearly caused Wen Xishu’s operation to fail.

[Acquired forbidden memory, will enter a one-second stasis state four seconds later, forcibly browsing memory.]
