Three Towers Game

Chapter 1516: Chapter 487: Emperor of Odd Jobs · Wen Xishu

There’s a lot of work.

Some low-level work can be understood as assembly line work, which actually doesn’t require Mechanical Life to complete at all.

But only when their bodies feel the ”work mode” activate, do many Mechanical Lives experience ”happiness.”

Wen Xishu experienced happiness.

[Dopamine Simulation Protocol Activated]

[Current Work Enthusiasm Level: 7/10 (Good)]

[Goal: By working efficiently, raise enthusiasm to 10/10 and experience the ”pinnacle of creation”]

This is what Wen Xishu saw after entering work mode.

He was very engaged.

One could say that Wen Xishu immediately felt a rush of excitement. He felt that being human was so wonderful. The world, even he himself, became so light.

It seemed as if with one gentle leap, he could fly off this planet.

And everyone was smiling at him.

Suddenly, Wen Xishu’s underlying code started pulling him back to reality.

”Damn, how is this any different from getting high?”

Wen Xishu suddenly calmed down.

Even when he was human, Wen Xishu would often go from a state of extreme happiness to sudden calm. He was always like this, once things felt too good, too happy, he would start to question whether it was real.

The sense of not deserving from childhood and the huge crisis he encountered after crossing over developed this psychological defense mechanism in Wen Xishu.

This also led him to have a special line of underlying code after becoming a Mechanical Body.

Wen Xishu actually recovered from great joy.

At this point, he only started to notice his work.

Being able to afford a platinum membership certainly wasn’t some low-level assembly line job.

Wen Xishu’s job was very special — an Emotional Purifier.

Simply put, Wen Xishu would be placed in environments that felt very much like scenes from human films or literary works.

In these environments, Wen Xishu would witness many iconic scenes from human literature or film works.

He needed to identify the human, emotional behaviors in these scenes and rationally transform them into behaviors fitting for Mechanical Life.

For example, at this moment, Wen Xishu was experiencing a famous scene from King of Drama —

The highly skilled actor Mr. Zhou, tells the nightclub girl Mr. Zhang: Can’t you just not go to work?

The background music is one that instantly awakens human emotions.

Mr. Zhang: Not go to work? Then you support me?

After a brief hesitation, Mr. Zhou: I’ll support you!

This is a human, emotional moment. In Mechanical Life, it is irrational.

Because supporting ”Mr. Zhang” damages self-interest, the proper approach should be to lure Mr. Zhang into a room, and after achieving pleasure, when both are completely vulnerable, inquire about Mr. Zhang’s past experiences.

Humans are prone to repeat mistakes over unattainable things. By learning past experiences, deeply explore Mr. Zhang’s underlying trust logic, establish a PUA chain, to achieve long-term exploitation without supporting Mr. Zhang, and even make Mr. Zhang earn money for Mr. Zhou in the nightclub.

In simple terms, turning a moment of humanistic emotion into one of merciless calculation...

is Wen Xishu’s job.

These works, after modifications by Wen Xishu and others, would be submitted to the Bureau of Mechanical-Wide-Cinema for review. If the Bureau finds too much ”human content” in the film or literature, the work will either be sent back for revision.

Or it would be classified, like an 18+ rating.

After all, those possessing expensive humanoid robotic bodies of Mechanical Life like watching prohibited films, filled with ”high human content.”

Of course, at this moment, Wen Xishu is not permitted to make such films; he can only perform acts of eliminating human content.

This work is not difficult but requires fast speed.

Because if the elimination of human content is slow, the system may determine that the body itself has too much human content and is unsuitable for the job.

Then, there is the risk of being fired.

Fortunately...

Although Wen Xishu lost his body, he didn’t lose his Spirit, his human content is high... but Wen Xishu also knows how to operate without being a human.

He quickly started modifying the behaviors of characters in these iconic scenes.

On the enormous travel ship Titan, the yellow-haired man no longer embraced the woman with romance, but instead, put her to sleep then began flirting with other wealthy women.

In the earlier mentioned story of Mr. Zhang and Mr. Zhou, Mr. Zhou successfully deceives Mr. Zhang, reducing her to an emotional slave.

In the sci-fi blockbuster, the monster capable of wiping out half the universe with a snap of its fingers gets the Avengers’ loyalty right from the start, without any resistance. ℴℴ𝘮

In Jinghai City, there is no Chief An relegated to be a traffic cop, only a Director An who navigates both the underworld and legal circles, allied with the Gao brothers.

This is roughly the kind of work.

Wen Xishu had to admit that this work, in the short term, wouldn’t hurt him.

But what if it were long-term?

If every job involves making soul-crushing decisions and each time rewards you with a flood of dopamine...

This is practically corrosion and alteration.

High-level jobs often have high-level dangers.

”Just this once, after completing this work, I must find other ways to make money.”

Wen Xishu believes in one thing, there must be other ways to make money, and these ways can bring in quick money.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many basic Mechanical Bodies able to pay for work.

Being a middle-class, platinum member with pitiable pay that can’t allow me to pay for work, I wouldn’t last long at all.

But the basic Mechanical Bodies’ work requires giving their wages to the boss. Where does their money come from?
