The Golem Mage

600: Prime Battle.

600: Prime Battle.

“Thank you,” Bodhi expressed his gratitude as he gripped Alec’s hand, using it to support himself as he regained his footing, despite having fallen from such a great height, his Tier 5 Mage physique allowed him to endure much of the impact, resulting in only a few broken bones and no life threatening injuries.

He used his left hand to shield the region where his ribs showed signs of injury.

“And the winner is Alec Gordons!” The referee was compelled to declare Alec as the victor of the match.

Although the crowd had been chanting for Alec after witnessing his powerful final move against the water snake, but it didn’t necessarily guarantee his immediate victory in the match.

And this was because Alec had not directly attacked Bodhi, but had targeted the snake instead, after Bodhi realized the referee’s reluctance, he waved his hand in surrender, forcing the referee to acknowledge Alec’s triumph.

This admission of surrender, along with the roar of the audience, left the referee with no choice but to announce Alec as the winner.

“Yama, it seems only you can extricate us from this predicament, eliminate that Alec boy; there is no room for failure,” the monk commanded, addressing Yama without bothering to face him, as he was unwilling to witness the smug smile that would surely adorn Yama’s face.

“Finally, you’ve forsaken the tradition of having the captain emerge last, what changed your mind?” Yama, however, did not display a smug attitude.

He was simply relieved to have been granted the opportunity to finally engage in combat, prompting his inquiry to his instructor.

“At this point, the War God Academy team has already gained a significant advantage against us, with their captain having defeated three of our mages.”

“ Look at that boy on the stage; do you think that knight would even stand a chance against him?” the monk posed the question, to which Yama shook his head in response.

“So you see, sending knight into the battle ring with him won’t be of any use to us, There’s no need to test how sharp a lion’s teeth are; instead, you must hunt it with a superior beast,” the monk explained, emphasizing the need for Yama to emerge victorious in this match.

“By sending you in now, I am doing everything I can to ensure that the honour and reputation of the Vajra Academy are preserved.

Alec Gordons must not secure his fourth consecutive win, cause if you were to fall to him as well, rest assured that it would be the end for the Vajra Academy in this competition, you do understand that this fight may not be the last, but it will likely determine the ultimate victor,” the monk concluded, conveying the high stakes of the situation.

“ You don’t have to worry about me losing.

Alec has already depleted a significant amount of his mana in the previous match, if I’m not mistaken, he should be running low on mana, there’s no way he will be able to keep up with me for much longer, considering all that he’s been exerting thus far,” Wearing a determined expression, Yama responded, reassuring the monk,

Before stepping forward, he made his way towards the battle ring, passing by the injured Bodhi, who was returning to the Vajra Academy team stands.

“You fought well,” the monk said to Bodhi, placing a hand on his shoulder as Bodhi reached the stands.

In that moment, two healers of the Vajra Academy entered and began casting healing spells on Bodhi, recognizing the physical strain he endured despite walking off the battle ring after the fall from on top the water snakes head

Turning his attention back to Alec, the referee, devoid of any smugness, asked,

“Will you continue this fight, or will you step down and allow a new member from your team to take the stage in your behalf?”

The referee stared at Alec completely unaware of how he should feel, as he hadn’t anticipated that Alec would even reach this stage of the competition.

“I will continue this round as well,” Alec proclaimed confidently, his gaze fixed on Yama, who was now stepping into the battle ring from the opposite side, seeing that Alec had made his choice, the referee went on to continue his announcement for the next battle.

“Allow me to introduce the next fighter from the Vajra Academy, stepping onto the stage to seize control of his team’s fate, please welcome the captain of the Vajra Academy team, Arin Yama!”

The crowd erupted in excitement as Yama’s name resounded throughout the arena.

The Vajra Academy fans went all out to celebrate the long-awaited appearance of their beloved team captain.

“I’ve been eagerly awaiting the chance to fight against you, I hope you won’t disappoint me now, simply because you’ve already faced three of my teammates,” Yama proclaimed, infusing his voice with mana to ensure his words reached the entire audience.

Alec’s eyebrow arched in surprise as he grasped Yama’s intention.

The referees were the only ones able to project their voices throughout the battle arena, utilizing their sound elements or sound-related abilities to create a special effect.

But Alec viewed Yama’s mana expenditure for this purpose as a waste, considering he would never generate the same sound wave frequencies as the referees.

“Well, there’s no need for such unnecessary waste of mana.

All you have to do is defeat me,” Alec responded firmly without doing the same as Yama, as he draws out his Changdao and assuming a poised stance.

Yama, on the other hand, summoned a Naginata with a broader blade at its end.

He slammed the weapon onto the ground, dragging it behind him as he advanced slowly towards the center of the battle ring.

“Begin!” The referee declared the start of the fight, seeing no reason to further delay the match, as both participants seemed ready and eager to engage.

The moment the referee’s words echoed, Yama’s body swiftly moved and twitched, and in the next second, he appeared right before Alec, both hands raised high in the air gripping his Naginata tightly, ready to strike down upon Alec.

The spectators quickly realized that Alec wouldn’t be able to dominate this battle so easily with his speed, as Yama’s movement seemed just as instantaneous like Alec had been doing.

They started to comprehend that mages who had reached a certain margin in their speed could match such rapidity and make there burst speed look like instant teleportation in small spaces, and this was not limited to Alec alone.

Clang!

The clash between Alec and Yama commenced as Yama forcefully brought down the bladed part of his Naginata towards Alec.

In response, Alec raised his Changdao with the blade pointing downwards, positioning it vertically to defend his right shoulder while gripping the weapon tightly with both hands.

However, from that initial move, Alec found himself on the losing end as he was forced backward after both weapons clashed.

Although he managed to dig his feet into the ground to mitigate the force of the attack making him still remain on ground and not fly into the air, it was evident that Alec had been pushed back from that attack

Making the cheering from the Vajra Academy fans and those who had wagered in their favour grew louder, believing that Yama possessed an advantage in strength over Alec.

Yet, a few experts keenly observed that Yama hadn’t gained any advantage; instead, he was on the verge of losing the clash.

“Who would have thought this kid Alec possessed such abnormal strength?

If Yama hadn’t accumulated momentum before striking, he would never have been able to force Alec backwards,” a hooded man in the crowd commented to his partner beside him.

“That’s what happens when you face an earth elemental mage with tremendous strength, lifting them off the ground is no easy feat!” his partner replied as they both nodded and returned their attention to the ongoing match.

After that particular exchange, Alec had no intention of giving Yama the opportunity to strike first again.

With a swift motion of his left hand, he caused a long staircase made of earth to rise before him, leading directly towards Yama.

Without wasting a second, Alec dashed along the path he created, while Yama refused to be outdone.

He twirled in the air, rotating the Naginata with him, harnessing the pure force of mana as both he and Alec lunged at each other in the air.
