The Golem Mage

571: Climax 2.

As the light beam hurtled towards Dragov at incredible speed, the crowd eagerly awaited the outcome, their eyes fixed on the intense spectacle.

Among the spectators, a few fans of the Bloodline Academy grew increasingly concerned for Dragov’s well-being.

But despite their worry, they knew that convincing him to evade the impending attack would be futile.

Dragov was the type of person who relished in challenges, and if he hadn’t been willing to face them head-on, he would never have allowed Marcus to unleash such a powerful assault against him in the first place.

Marcus’s strategy of channelling the light beam after a brief moment of charging was a prudent move.

As no seasoned Mage in their right minds would willingly grant their opponent the opportunity and time to gather such a devastating spell that could leave them in a perilous state.

Had Marcus attempted the same tactic against Damien, he would have nimbly rushed forward while Marcus was still gathering his energy, seizing the moment to deliver a punishing strike.

This would have nullified the spell and left Marcus vulnerable to a backlash from the spell, this was the reason Marcus never wasted his time gathering energy with the spell anytime he casted it.

However, Marcus had an intuition, a gut feeling that Dragov would allow him the time needed to cast the spell, the vibes he sensed from Dragov gave him that confidence.

Having recognized that his previous attempts to harm Dragov with his full powered attacks had proven futile, Marcus decided to seize the opportunity, and it appeared that his gamble had paid off.

However, as Marcus unleashed the attack, he was unprepared for the powerful recoil that followed.

A resounding bang echoed through the stage as he was violently propelled out of the battle ring, caught off-guard by the force of his own assault.

Reacting swiftly, the red-haired referee wasted no time, dashing towards the location where Marcus was being flung, with a swift and decisive action, he positioned his hand behind his back mid-air, halting Marcus from soaring any further away.

However, upon halting Marcus, the referee realized that not only had Marcus been knocked unconscious by his own attack, but he had also crossed beyond the boundary line of the battle ring before his feet touched the ground.

This unfortunate series of events resulted in Marcus being automatically disqualified.

In such a situation, unconsciousness alone granted the win to the opponent, and the referee’s interference added another strike against Marcus.

As any instance where the referee interfered meant that the person they protected or saved would be considered eliminated.

“Dragov Dragonmir, winner of this round!” declared the red-haired referee, his mana enhancing his voice to carry it far and wide.

The announcement was aimed at reaching Dragov and making him realize that he didn’t even need to defend against the oncoming attack.

However, Dragov remained resolute, determined to confront the attack head-on, as it seems the referees words did nothing.

Even before the light beam reached him, he dug his legs deep into the ground, wielding his axe firmly with his left hand as his dominant hand.

His right hand provided support as he executed a backward swat, attempting to deflect the immense light beam ball.

Bang!!!

This explosion displayed an unparalleled magnitude compared to the previous one.

Shockwaves radiated out with each passing second as Dragov stood his ground, the light element unleashing slashing waves of energy.

Even Dragov’s academy uniform had been reduced to charred remnants after the relentless assault of the light element passed through it multiple times, demonstrating the sheer intensity of the beam’s power, which far exceeded the capabilities of a Tier 5 spell.

“Arrrgh!” Dragov shouted, his voice filled with exertion as he struggled to maintain his footing.

He clasped the battle axe tightly with both hands, yet despite his efforts, he found himself being continuously pushed back by the overwhelming force of the beam.

The crowd observed in awe as Dragov valiantly held his ground against an attack that emanated scorching waves of light, impacting even the flow of wind within the air itself.

The sheer display of strength and resilience left spectators mesmerized by Dragov’s steadfast determination.

“I am Dragov, a pure-blooded Dragonmir!” Dragov shouted, his voice exuding an unwavering assurance of his own strength.

As he did, his hands swiftly became enveloped in luminous white dragon scales, resembling a powerful dragon gauntlet, which gave a striking visual representation of his enhanced abilities.

With this newfound power, Dragov successfully deflected the incoming light beam nuke, redirecting it into the sky with a forceful swing of his hand.

The crowd watched in astonishment as the light beam soared into the air, propelled by Dragov’s deflection.

However, their amazement was short-lived, as the beam was soon intercepted by a transparent shield that had been erected to protect the spectators.

The shield stopped the attack, resulting in another thunderous explosion.

These types of explosions had become more common as the second round progressed, causing the previously startled and fidgety low-tier mages in the crowd to grow accustomed to them.

Once the dust settled from the explosion, all eyes turned towards Dragov, standing proudly in the center of the battle ring.

He raised his battle axe with his right hand, confidently resting it on his shoulder, wearing a wild smile on his face.

“Finally, the warm-up is over!” Dragov’s declaration startled the entire crowd of spectators.

The onlookers watched in awe as Dragov, despite his seemingly small frame, revealed a muscular physique they had never anticipated.

He cracked his neck with his left hand, casting his gaze towards Julian, who was also the last combatant representing the Holy Grail Academy.

The battle had now reached its climax, as the two captains would have to faced off to determine the true victor of this first match in the second round of the inter-academy competition.

With no time to waste, Julian swiftly rose to his feet, the resounding sound of his sword striking the ground marked his determined approach towards the battle ring.

Alec couldn’t help but be surprised when he saw Julian using his sword as a walking cane.

Even though Alec didn’t believe that Julian was truly blind based on his appearance, he still couldn’t fathom the reason behind Julian’s decision to blindfold himself.

“Finally, the moment you all have been waiting for!

The ultimate fight of this incredible match, which has provided us with countless thrilling moments, please welcome, to the battle ring, the captain of the Holy Grail Academy, Julian Soul!” The referee’s voice reverberated throughout the arena, infusing the crowd with a renewed sense of excitement.

Fans of the Holy Grail Academy cast aside any grievances or disappointment they may have harboured from their team’s prior setbacks.

Instead, they rallied together, cheering as loudly as they could, providing unwavering support for their beloved captain.

As this was the final battle, the one that would determine the last man standing, and the academy that would advance to the next stage of the competition.
