The Golem Mage

587: Shockwave.

“Hahaha!

Didn’t I tell you all that something interesting was about to happen?” Vladimir laughed, thoroughly amused by Alec’s decision to participate.

The spectators erupted into discussions, taken aback by Alec’s surprising choice to fight.

However, no one was as shocked as the Dean of the War God Mage Academy, he longed to rise from his chair and fly over just to force Alec out of the battle arena, but he knew he had to maintain his composure to save face.

Victor Steele, standing on the opposite side of the battle ring, now remembered Alec’s past threats.

Previously, when Alec had threatened him, Steele had felt a chill and didn’t want to provoke Alec.

He had witnessed Alec’s formidable skills in previous fights.

Although Steele knew he would struggle to go against Alec, even with the knowledge that he couldn’t win, he never took Alec’s threat seriously because he never expected to face him in the battle ring.

Typically, the captains of each team fought in the last round, serving as guardians for their respective academy teams.

In situations where all team members had lost, it was up to the captain to either save the team or suffer trying.

This was why everyone was accustomed to the captain appearing last.

But Steele never anticipated that Alec would be reckless enough to deviate from this tradition and challenge him now.

“You can’t do this now, you were meant to take the last place, I already arranged the order of participation!” Jasper shouted, rushing towards the battle ring.

But Alec simply frowned as he turned to stare at him.

“F**k the sequence you’ve set and the time I’m supposed to enter, you’re only allowed to stay as long as you don’t interfere with my issues.”

“ Don’t forget, I’m still the captain of this team, and if I say I want to fight now, you have no right to stop me,” Alec declared, before turning to Steele with a determined gaze.

Steele felt a chill run through his body as Alec’s piercing stare locked onto him.

It was as if he was being hunted by a predator.

The referee glanced at Jasper, but after seeing the defeated look on his face, he was quick to realize immediately that Jasper wouldn’t be able to sway Alec’s decision.

So he turned his attention to Selene, the team’s coordinator, hoping she would have the influence to talk Alec out of fighting, but when he looked at her, he found her smiling.

What many didn’t realize was that Selene had never taken her role as the team’s coordinator particularly seriously, and this was largely due to Alec’s presence.

From day one the team was created to move out independently, and Alec had kept the team in line, sparing her most of the stress.

She trusted him to make the best decisions for the team, even if she often felt his choices were driven more by emotion than logic.

But to this day, Alec had never lost a fight, despite consistently going up against opponents from higher realms.

This experience had honed his skills in facing stronger foes.

And now that he had finally stepped into the Tier 5 Mage Realm, Selene could hardly contain her excitement, as she desires to see just how much he had grown.

Seeing that Selene chose not to intervene, the referee gave up and decided it was time to introduce Alec.

“And now, the next fighter for the War God Academy is their very own captain, Alec Gordons, hmmm “ the referee exclaimed, unable to contain his astonishment as he was introducing Alec.

Despite the fact that such a display would typically be seen as unprofessional, in that particular moment, the referee couldn’t help himself due to the overwhelming emotions he felt.

As he attempted to introduce Alec, his gaze fixated on him, and he took a moment to observe the energy emanating from Alec only to realize that he was exuding the energy of a Low Tier 5 Mage.

This revelation caught the referee off guard, as just a few days ago, Alec had been a peak Tier 4 Mage, but now he was a low Tier 5 Mage.

But this surprising development wasn’t just confined to Alec as discussions from the crowd about the war God Mage Academy team had been circulating.

The speed of advancement displayed by all the members of the War God Academy team seemed to surpass anything previously witnessed.

“I apologize for my mistake, but allow me to reintroduce Alec Gordons as a low Tier 5 Mage, it appears he has made a breakthrough, and I made an incorrect announcement about his realm due to our lack of knowledge,” the referee acknowledged, finally managing to regain his composure.

However, the shockwave caused by this announcement resonated to both the spectators and those from the academy teams who still believed Alec to be a mere peak Tier 4 Mage.

This revelation shook many individuals to their core.

Steele, in particular, felt an overwhelming desire to give up in that moment.

Nevertheless, he understood that surrendering was unacceptable according to the principles of the Vajra Academy.

Their students were taught never to surrender but to lose with honour, even if it meant enduring injuries, for a disciple of the Vajra Academy to give up would be considered disgraceful.

They saw it as an insult to their academy’s honour, and that was the only reason why Steele couldn’t surrender despite his fear of Alec’s threat.

His loyalty to his academy outweighed his apprehensions.”

“Now, that was something even I wasn’t expecting, is this yet another card you’re hiding?

Just tell me, how are you able to make these little plants of yours sprout so fast?, cause I’m certain even the young lady from the Marionette clan was not a Tier 5 Mage in their last fight, so how much did you spend to make them advance?”

“I must admit, I have underestimated your determination to win this bet,” the Head Abbot of the Vajra Academy couldn’t help expressing his surprise, as he addressed the Dean of the War God Academy team seated beside him.

The Dean chuckled, finding the unfolding events a little suspicious.

Though Alec had provided a detailed explanation of his own advancement after what happened, but to the Dean, it was just so thorough that it left no ground for suspicion.

And the fact that such detailed information was coming from Alec so calmly at that moment was both baffling and led the Dean to believe that Alec held many secrets that he didn’t want to share, which he understood.

However, when it came to the constant breakthroughs of the rest of Alec’s team, the Dean was still in the dark and knew nothing about them.

He could only nervously chuckle in response to the praises of the Head Abbot.

As he didn’t want to reject such compliments, even when he knew he was financially struggling to achieve what was said of him.
