563: Blades Affinities.

Despite what others may have thought, in this moment, all Damien and Cassandra could focus on was defeating their opponent.

Cassandra wielded the halberd with such skill and proficiency that the crowd found themselves questioning where her true expertise lay.

As not only had she displayed mastery with her dual blades at the start of the battle, but she also effortlessly handled the Enormous Great sword, causing others to doubt their perception of its weight.

However, when the sword clashed against Carmilla, spectators realized they had underestimated the true power behind the weapon.

Just as they thought they had seen it all, Cassandra now fought bare-fisted and seamlessly transitioned to wielding a halberd, pushing through a series of spearheaded blood chains aimed at her.

“Man, I have to say, that’s a strong clanswoman you have there.

If she is being pushed out of the clan just like you were, then I’m really starting to doubt the intellect of your clan’s elders,” Alec teased Lucas, who sat beside him.

“Nah, she’s not like me and my brother, if we were to classify talents in the blade clan, she belongs among those seen beneath the blade prince of this generation,” Lucas countered.

“She’s incredibly gifted, when she awakened, she manifested affinity for three different weapons, you see, in a battle clan like ours, the more weapon affinities we awaken, the greater potential is placed upon us based on the clan’s measurements,” Lucas explained.

“Though there have been few situations where those who awaken only one weapon had managed to surpass the geniuses who awaken multiple weapons.”

“ But It has to do with the continuous evolution of their awakened weapon, something that can’t happen in an instant,” Lucas concluded, shedding light on the complexities of awakening weapon affinities.

“And there’s also the possibility of awakening another weapon affinity, just like me,” Lucas revealed, causing his teammates to turn towards him in surprise.

“Wait, you mean you were able to awaken another weapon affinity?” Alec asked, stunned.

But he wasn’t the only one taken aback; everyone, especially Selene, stared intently at Lucas.

“Yes, I did, but I think I owe it to you,” Lucas nervously admitted, scratching the back of his head.

“How is that possible?

This is all your own doing!” Alec quickly interjected.

“I don’t believe I would have awakened it if I didn’t have the pills you provided me with, though I’ve already gone through my second awakening, so I can’t quite explain how I was able to awaken another weapon affinity without entering the High Rank, but after the first time I used the pills…” Lucas trailed off.

“I felt like I was going through some sort of baptism, and slowly my flaws were being washed away, then, after what happened yesterday, it finally unveiled itself,” Lucas explained, causing the entire team to congratulate and shake him in celebration.

“I’m happy for you!

So, spill it, what weapon affinity did you awaken?” Beatrice inquired.

“A glaive!” Lucas responded quickly.

“What?!

A glaive?

You already know how to wield a glaive, you use it when you summon your spirit equipment?

So Why?” Pale questioned.

“Why would you awaken a glaive when you already know how to wield it?

You should have awakened something else,” Pale questioned, adding his thoughts to the conversation, like Lucas actually had a say on what he awaken.

.

“Being ignorant doesn’t give you an excuse to act stupid too, Pale,” Lucas retorted, not mincing his words as he called Pale out for his lack of understanding.

“Actually, just using a weapon doesn’t make me an expert at it.

Yes, I have been using a glaive every time I summon my Spirit equipment, but that doesn’t mean I have truly mastered it.”

“ If you were to term my proficiency with a glaive, I would consider myself at most an amateur,” Lucas explained.

“But with the awakened affinity for the glaive, not only will my proficiency greatly increase, but every training I do with it now will have three times the impact.”

“ It’s much more than a normal affinity that enhances training by only double fold,” Lucas continued.

“Now, just by wielding a glaive, I feel like I’ve been training with it for over ten years, this is a significant boost to my mastery of the glaive compared to before.”

“ I can now accomplish more with the glaive and a Great sword than I could have ever imagined, so, just imagine how strong Cassandra is with three different weapon affinities,” Lucas shed some light on how the Blades clan’s weapon affinity truly works.

“If she is so powerful, then why on earth did your clan send her away instead of nurturing her within the clan?” Alec asked, utterly perplexed.

“It’s a bit difficult to explain, all we know is that, besides weapon mastery, the clan had no means of cultivating her other Awakened power.”

“ So, they had her study outside the clan, however, they provided everything she needed, and she also has a Blade Clan instructor travel with her, who teaches her the clan’s secret techniques, meanwhile, the rest like me, have to learn them on our own,” Lucas clarified.

“Weapon affinity does seem really cool, but mastery shouldn’t be the only thing it provides, right?

Otherwise, it would be bland, as anyone could accumulate weapon mastery,”

“ albeit at a slower pace than your clan, but even I have achieved mastery in a few weapons,” Alec spoke up.

As some members of the team thought he was bragging about his weapon proficiency, but that wasn’t the case.

Only a few of the Gordon clansmen had witnessed Alec using multiple weapons in the past.

Although he didn’t use many weapons these days since acquiring the Levelling Bone Katana and the Bloody Changdao, but it didn’t change the fact that Alec shared the weapon mastery of all his bonded golems.

“Without a doubt, there are other amazing aspects that our weapon affinity grants us, ones that others who only have weapon mastery don’t possess.”

“ However, delving into those secrets would be revealing the Blade Clan’s sacred techniques, what I can share is that my lightning abilities manifested after my second awakening, even though I don’t have a natural affinity for lightning.

“

“But the connection to lightning is linked to my weapon affinities,” Lucas explained, causing his teammates to gasp in awe and secretly hope that they too would awaken a weapon affinity one day.

They knew from historical records that few mages from various clans, not just pure battle clans like the Blade Clan, had awakened weapon affinities in the past.

Author’s Note:

Hello, readers!

First and foremost, I would like to apologize for the fact that the fight scenes seem to be taking up several chapters lately.

Trust me when I say that I had intended to keep them short, but given the way I have described the Great 8 Academies, a mediocre fight would not do justice to their image.

Hence, the need to take my time in depicting their abilities.

But remember, it’s a competition and it will eventually come to an end.

Thank you once again to all of you who have supported me so far – Gagemini, Nathan, and Tall Castle at the Top.

It’s been an honour.

All I can do is make the fights as enjoyable as possible, and I hope you all continue to enjoy each chapter without getting bored.

Until next time,

-Mystic
