Chapter 1389: Breakthrough and New Beginnings(20)

Boom!

A loud explosion rang in the area, devastating everything in the range of a few hundred miles.

It resulted in thousands of tragedies since many guards around the palace were unable to run from the blast.

Laneyʼs eyes were calm as she looked at the spot of the blast. Her eyes jumped out in surprise when she found that Sheis was still alive.

One minute of preparation for her ultimate attack should have been more than enough to kill Sheis, but he survived with serious injuries.

At that time, the two horns on Sheisʼs forehead had almost faded, while pupils returned to his eyes.

Laney was about to deal the finishing blow when she suddenly stopped and looked to her left.

Since neither of the two tried to hide their battle, it alerted every living being in the Kingdom, as well as some outsiders.

One such outsider currently floated in the sky, looking at the scene with a calm expression.

Laney immediately recognized the man since he was on the ranked leaderboard of adventurers in Panagea. At the same time, the man also recognized Laney.

”What can I do for you?” Laneyʼs voice wasnʼt courteous at all as she coldly asked.

The manʼs cultivation was peak True God, so there was no way for Laney to win against him. But she decided to look strong there since she had come so close to winning and didnʼt want her plans to fail due to an outsider.

Herit didnʼt respond but took one last look at Laney and Sheis and then disappeared from the scene. Laney couldnʼt help but heave a sigh of relief after Herit left.

She then returned her focus to Sheis, who had an ugly expression on his face.

”Before you kill me, answer my one question.” Sheis requested since he could no longer see a way out of the situation.

”I didnʼt have any agenda against you. It was just your luck that I chose this place to establish a new Kingdom,” Laney responded since she understood what Sheis wanted an answer for.

Without wasting any more seconds, Laney reached forward and cut Sheisʼs head with her knives.

The next moment, a King who had ruled for tens of thousands of years met an end to his life. Killing Sheis wasnʼt an end to the situation since just killing the King didnʼt mean conquering the land.

Even though Laney was a True God, rebellions were bound to happen. But since only the political part was left, Laney decided to solve it in days, not like the battle with Sheis and his son.

She immediately descended into the sky and informed the entire Kingdom of their Kingʼs death. At the same time, she also gave a deadline of three days for the inhabitants of the Kingdom to accept her position.

Those who didnʼt accept her as the ruler would be executed on the fourth day from the announcement, while on the fifth day, she would proclaim herself as the first King of the Fring Kingdom.

Laney didnʼt make any other moves that day and disappeared from the city, returning to Thorr City.

As Laney slept, the entire planet was on the boil since it had been quite a long time for someone to conquer an already conquered land and replace themselves as the King. Even Laneyʼs father was shocked to learn about it once the details of the killer arrived. He had no idea that Laney would go and conquer another territory when she already had one of her own.

Laneyʼs father knew her talent and was grooming her to become the new King so that he could relieve his duties and focus on a breakthrough. But after what Laney did, the two Kingdoms were separated forever.

There was no more merging of the two Kingdoms since his sons would no longer accept Laneyʼs claim to the throne. The moment she established her own Kingdom, they became separate.

The father immediately left his Kingdom to talk to Laney, but was stuck at the travel junction in Thorr City since there was a large queue of people around to check after the thundering news of the fall of one Kingdom.

The father tried to contact Laney but was unable to since Laney was peacefully sleeping without a single worry in the world.

***

A few hours earlier, when Laney landed the finishing blow,

”It took her that long to win against a weak intermediate True God,” Lily scoffed, looking at the scene playing out on the screen.

Aakesh only smiled when he heard Lily. He also agreed with Lilyʼs opinion. Even though Laney might feel that the battle was easy, Aakesh didnʼt.

Sheis didnʼt even have average strength at the intermediate True God level, so Aakesh expected the battle to play out overwhelmingly in favor of Laney.

Despite that, the battle between the two went on for several minutes despite Laney using her full power.

Khaval, who was also watching the scene, sitting on Aakeshʼs head, commented, ”She isnʼt naturally talented. It was just that fortune favored her.”

If Aakesh compared talent to choose his candidate for the second store upgrade quest, Maria was the best option since she was very talented due to her vast and abundant adventure in Panagea.

”She compensated for her lack of talent with hard work and perseverance,” Aakesh commented, rubbing Khavalʼs head.

If not for her strong resolve, she would have never been able to pass the first test itself, even putting her life at risk.

Despite killing Sheis and capturing his territory, the system did not comment on the outcome of the second quest.

Aakesh didnʼt ask the system about it since only after Laneyʼs coronation would the quest be complete, so he had to wait for a few more days before he could learn something more about his past.

Lily and Khaval could feel Aakeshʼs excitement over the quest result, so they were also excited.

”What gift do you think I should give her on her coronation day?” Aakesh suddenly asked for the opinion of the two troublemakers.

Even though he already had an item on his mind, he still decided to take Lilyʼs and Khavalʼs opinions since things like that excited them more than anything, and there was nothing worth more than seeing them happy for Aakesh.

”Hmph, why would you give her a gift?” Lily, being Lily, didnʼt like Aakesh gifting Laney. At the same time, she couldnʼt hide the smile that had appeared on her face after Aakeshʼs question.

Khaval wasnʼt like Lily, so he seriously began thinking of gifts that Aakesh could give.

”Did you ask to make us happy, or are you going to change your mind after our answer?” Lily asked after seeing Khaval being so serious, thinking about the answer.

How could Lily not know what Aakesh meant when he asked the question? Even though she acted like a spoiled child in front of Aakesh, her wisdom was frighteningly high.

Aakesh only smiled in response to Lilyʼs question, and she got her answer. She began to pester Aakesh for the thing in his mind.

Time was like a stream that kept flowing without any obstruction. Seconds combined to form minutes, minutes combined to create hours, and hours joined to form days. Just like that, it was the fourth day since Laneyʼs announcement.

Laney had been sleeping for the past three days, having no contact with the outside world. Only on the fourth day, she met her father, and she immediately got frightened when she saw the expression of isolation in his eyes.

Laney immediately solved the issue with her father and also accepted his reprimands. If there was a person Laney respected more than the store owner, it was her father. She could live with Aakesh looking at her as a failure, but she could not live with her father being angry and disappointed with her.

Laney was no longer a child so she had understood the ramifications of her conquering another territory. Despite that, she went through with it.

It wasnʼt that she didnʼt favor the territory under her familyʼs control, but she wanted to pass Aakeshʼs test. She didnʼt explicitly tell her father that she did what she did due to the store ownerʼs test, and she mended her relationship with him before things turned worse.

Her father had to accept Laneyʼs apology, but at the same time, he was happy that his daughter didnʼt feel irritated with him trying to share his opinion. Power changed the dynamics of a relationship, and after what Laney did three days ago, she had surpassed her father.

If, despite that, Laney continued to behave in childlike ways with him, the father had no cause for complaint. At the end of the day, it was he who was the connection between Laney and her siblings. The family relationship would only be positive if she had a good relationship with him.

At the same time, the father also acted smartly and didnʼt try to tell Laney what to do. He simply congratulated her for her victory since she would be declaring herself as the King later that day.
