Chapter 1386: Breakthrough and New Beginnings(17)

Sheis noticed Laney and the gigantic mouth where he sensed his son to be last present before he got killed. His eyes rained fire after he found a portion of his sonʼs cloak stuck in one of the teeth of the mouth.

Sheis was in no mood to talk to Laney since she was only an early True God and could prove no challenge. The gigantic mouth was the real deal since he sensed it to be equal in strength to him, if not stronger.

The mouth ignored Sheis and focused on Laney. It suddenly growled and charged.

Sheis harrumphed and attacked. A red beam of energy emerged from his right index finger and pierced through the mouth.

The energy beam seemed to have done no damage to the beast as it kept charging toward Laney. Laney had a deep frown spread across her face since she had no idea why the mouth felt such enmity toward her.

It was her first time seeing it. Neither had she brought anything extremely valuable that might force the mouth to become reckless and devour her.

Right at that moment, Laney felt some mental fluctuations and found the Hanswan to be the source of them. Laney didnʼt think she could defeat the mouth one-on-one, so she didnʼt think twice and summoned the beast.

The speed at which the mouth charged suddenly grew, and there were waves of angry growls targeted at the light. When the Hanswan fully emerged, the mouth no longer charged toward Laney, but the beast became its target.

The Hanswanʼs eyes showed cruelty when they saw the mouth. Laney knew about the history of the Hanswan from Aakeshʼs mouth. But since the mouth in front of her had nothing to do with the past war of the swan group, she couldnʼt understand what was going on.

The mouth wasnʼt simply a mouth, but a creature, Muhmas. It was a creature that could not exist on its own due to its weak spirit. The Muhmas in front of Laney were under the control of a late Lesser God beast from the Guisan race, who had been a lifelong enemy of the Swan group, making the situation unfavorable for her.

It was just that the Muhmasʼs physique could only unleash power up to the intermediate True God. If it were any higher, Laney would have instantly died in front of its attacks.

Seeing the sudden emergence of the stranger beast, Sheis understood that Laney was a store customer. His attitude toward her changed. Unaware of what had transpired there, he walked to Laney and asked her for an explanation about the situation.

Laney was no longer as straightforward as she was with Greis. The Hanwan was also a party that would help her in her battle against Sheis, and since the beast was currently battling that mouth, Laney needed to wait.

Laney put the blame for Greisʼ death on the mouth and then charged toward it since the beast couldnʼt defeat the mouth on its own.

The Hanswanʼs growth during the past several months had been quicker than the rate Laney had grown at, but since the Muhmas it battled were controlled by a late Lesser God level creature, it wasnʼt able to come on top of its opponents.

As soon as Laney joined the battle, it became easier for the two. Sheis also thought of joining, but his intuition was warning him that there was something wrong with the situation.

Laney had believed that Sheis would join her in defeating the mouth but was surprised to find that instead of coming forward, Sheis had backed several miles away from the battlefield.

The battle of creatures at the True God level had woken up every being in the city. Even though they were only battling in the air, the shockwaves released from their clashes harmed the cityʼs structure.

In no time, every building on the ground in the range of a mile around the battlefield had crashed to the ground, with the casualty count exceeding the five-digit mark.

The combination of Laney and the beast finally began to gain the upper hand over the opponent and started slowly injuring the creature.

Laney wasnʼt fighting to her full power since an even more significant battle was waiting for her after the battle with the mouth. The beast also didnʼt unleash its ultimate attacks and kept bombarding it with its usual attacking skills.

When victory seemed in sight, Laney activated [Graviton Vortex].

The next moment, gravitational force surged around her, and heavy pressure appeared from her. Whatever remained until that time of the battle was crushed to a pulp due to the intense gravity affecting the area.

As gravity surged around Laney, a vortex of immense mass and force formed. The destruction on the ground reached another height at that time.

The mouth, being in close proximity to Laney, began to be pulled toward the vortex. Since it wasnʼt very weak, it fought against it and succeeded in trumping it. Unfortunately for it, Laney wasnʼt alone.

The beast acted and activated another of its skills, knocking the mouth toward the vortex. The vortex pulled the mouth because there was no longer enough time for it to resist.

It wasnʼt simply a pull, but a crushing. As the vortex pulled the mouth, its muscles were slowly being crushed. The same was true of its teeth.

When victory seemed closer than ever, a change of scene occurred.

Roar!

A roar filled with majesty rang in the area, and the vortex around Laney disappeared into a poof as if it never existed. Laneyʼs face turned pale, and she coughed up blood since the sudden crushing of the skill affected her.

But that wasnʼt what Laney focused on. Her face was filled with horror as she looked above and saw a pair of eyes filled with brutality and cruelty looking down on her.

Suddenly, strong pressure rose from the owner of the eyes, forcing Laney to look down. At the same time, a will to give up on her life also rose in her heart.

Laney gritted her teeth since giving up was never an option. She pushed against the pressure and raised her head, facing the beast.
