The First Store System

Chapter 1356: The First Quest(24)

As Laneyʼs eyes moved down the sections and read the details, she couldnʼt help but jump in shock after hearing the number of quests remaining.

It would take her ten quests to pass the trial and become the city lord. At the end of the crystal, her first quest was there.

Her first quest was extremely simple, so simple that it astonished Laney. She looked at Rimiru, only to find that he had disappeared. She looked around, but there was no sign of him anywhere.

Laney then stopped looking for him and focused on the crystal. The first quest had a simple requirement. It was to stand at the tallest point of the damaged fortress and channel the pattern imprinted there.

Laney stopped worrying about the simplicity of the quest and walked forward. The tallest point of the fortress was only a few hundred meters from him, and Laney was cautious at every junction so that no sudden accident occurred to her.

Laney reached the tallest point without any trouble and also saw the pattern. She looked confused since the pattern was also very simple.

She then stood on the required section and channeled the energy flow. The next moment, a storm of elemental particles appeared around her, and soon it turned into a vortex.

Every elemental particle in Laneyʼs unseeable range was being devoured, while the pattern on the ground had begun to glow.

In no time, the glow had reached a blinding level. Laney had no choice but to move her eyes away, but the light followed them.

The next moment, the glow expanded and soon shrouded him. It wasnʼt the end but only the beginning. The glow continued expanding and soon covered whatever Laney could see of the fortress.

At that moment, Laney had no choice but to forcefully cut off her sense of sight since her eyes had begun to bleed. The channeling had also grown out of her control, and she no longer followed her instructions.

Laney felt she had made some mistake and panicked, but she had no choice other than to wait.

Time flew by, and Laney felt the surroundings calm down after what felt like an eternity. The next moment, when she opened her eyes, they almost jumped out of their sockets in shock.

At that moment, Laney felt herself standing at a dangerous height, while the ground beneath her foot was only large enough to accommodate her. When she tried to look below, she felt nothing but an endless journey to the ground.

Suddenly the thought of jumping appeared in her head. It was almost an instinct, but Laney controlled herself.

She finally understood what the first quest wanted from her. It was to restore the castle but in a simple and efficient way.

Laney then looked at the crystal in her hand and found that the details were unchanged. She frowned since she had already done what the crystal wanted from her.

Since there were no changes, it could only mean that the first quest wasnʼt complete yet.

”Will it only become complete after jumping down?” Laney mumbled since there was no other way to go down.

Laney had items to help her fly, but she found that her space ring had been locked, and she could do nothing to unlock it.

Laney had no choice but to jump down if she didnʼt want to keep standing there. Laney then took a deep breath and jumped.

Laney kept falling. The wind was so strong that she was unable to open her eyes. It only added to the tension of the situation.

At the same time, the velocity at which she was falling also grew, reaching a dangerous level in no time. The panic in her heart kept growing, and after what felt like an eternity, she found the wind slowing down.

She tried to open her eyes and found that her falling velocity had slowed down. The surface had also started to become visible to her.

As she got closer to the surface, her falling speed decreased, and she finally landed on the ground with no injury. Laney had no time to think of the adventure she had gone through when she saw what was ahead of her.

In front of her stood an enormously astonishing fortress. It was one of the most stunning views Laney had ever witnessed.

At the same time, the crystal on her hands glowed blood red, and soon there were changes.

Number of quests completed: 1

Remaining quests: 9

Bonus: Flying Adventurer

…]

Not only had the remaining number of quests decreased by one, but Laney had also received a bonus. When she tapped on it, a new screen jumped out in front of her.

The skill was simple but worthwhile. Laneyʼs level hadnʼt reached the point where she could fly in Panagea, but she no longer had to worry about it.

The bonus allowed Laney to fly and safely descend to the ground, no matter what the height, without worrying about the strong wind. Laney immediately put it to the test since it would be her first flight without any items.

As for how to fly, the information had automatically appeared in her head. As soon as she activated the skill, she had complete mastery of it. She slowly floated up, and as the distance between her and the surface grew, her speed also increased.

In no time, she had reached a height where the surface had started to become blurry. Even at that point, the tallest point of the fortress was nowhere in sight.

The skill consumed energy, and large amounts at that. Laney wanted to test the descent as well, so she kept flying up.

The tallest point was still nowhere in sight, but Laney had exhausted her energy. The next moment, she stopped floating up but began to descend.

Laney no longer had to close her eyes, worrying about the strong wind. She opened her hands like an eagle and enjoyed the moment since it had been a long time since she had that much fun.

When she was only a mile away from the surface, her descent speed began to decrease, and she safely landed on the ground. Her eyes were filled with the joy of the moment.
