Chapter 1365 Second Quest(33)

Chapter 1365: Second Quest(33)

The bird was flying in the air as it saw Laney and her group of recruits leaving for the forest. The journey was long, and it took her two weeks to step inside the forest.

Since the forest was spread across more than a hundred thousand miles, it was enormous and would take time to search. She only had a few weeks and two months left before the deadline came to an end, so Laney decided to focus solely on the Geronics tribe.

She would focus on the other beast groups later. Following the information from the city, Laney reached the range of the tribe in another week.

Once the tribe sensed Laneyʼs arrival, a terrible battle began between the two camps. Neither the leader of the tribe nor the Level 234 being took action.

The condition Laney had to accept to recruit a Level 234 man was that he would only fight the boss as long as he was the strongest in her camp.

Laney had no intention of holding back since she wanted to end the quest as soon as possible and then comfortably sleep for a while to remove the mental exhaustion she had accumulated over the past several months.

She also participated in the massacre, and when she killed the first enemy, the aura of resentment became visible to her again. It kept growing quickly since even those enemies who were killed by the recruitʼs resentment also targeted her.

Laney found herself surrounded on all sides, her back pressed against the cold stone walls of a narrow alley in the heart of what was once a bustling city. Her eyes darted from one enemy to another as they closed in. There were more than a hundred of them, with their levels varying from Level 150 to Level 195.

Around a week had passed since the battle between Laney and the Geronics tribe began. Laney had a lower number of warriors on her side, but the quality was certainly higher than in the enemy camp.

As Laneyʼs side won one battle after another, they finally pushed the tribe to their end, with the battle location turning to what was once their city. The Level 234 recruit was also near her, but he seemed to have no interest in the battle, even though Laney was the weaker one. Instead of helping her, he sat down on a tall building to enjoy the battle.

Since Laney had accepted the condition before recruiting the man, she could do nothing but accept the manʼs behavior.

As the enemies began to surround her, Laney unleashed [Shadow Dance] skill, vanishing from her current position. Laney reappeared behind one of the enemies, her obsidian knives striking like vipers. The next moment, the man crumpled to the ground, a look of anger frozen on his face.

The remaining enemies kept surrounding her. The fury in their eyes grew further as they saw the corpse of their comrade. Laneyʼs agility allowed her to jump from one enemy to another, but after initial success, their coordinated efforts became challenging to overcome. One of the enemies hurled a searing inferno at her, and she had to immediately counter with [Whispering Gale].

With another graceful movement, Laney activated [Moonshadow Fury], her knives imbued with dark energy. She spun in a whirlwind of destruction, her blades flashing and slashing. The enemies attempted to counter, but her speed and precision were unmatched. More than twenty enemies fell beneath her deadly assault, their weapons clanging to the ground.

The battle raged on, and the number of enemies kept decreasing. The Level 234 man watched the fight with a bored expression. With time, only two enemies remained, and they were also the strongest of the group.

As the final two adversaries closed in, Laney summoned her last reserves of strength. She engaged them in a fierce dance of death. One of the enemies launched a barrage of arcane missiles, but Laneyʼs [Whispering Gale] appeared timely and held firmly against the bombardment. She countered with a vicious strike, but the Level 195 foe intervened timely, rescuing his comrade from death.

Laneyʼs energy stocks reached a dangerous level, and she had no choice but to think of escape as an option as well. But since she still had major chances of victory, she didnʼt run away.

The remaining energy could allow her to activate [Moonshadow Fury] once, but she decided against it. She activated [Shadow Dance], and it allowed her to move quickly. She retaliated with a calculated strike at one of the men. That time, the Level 195 enemy couldnʼt intervene, and soon only one foe remained for Laney to defeat.

But the odds seemed to have left her side and favored the enemy more. Suddenly, a sense of intense danger hit her.

Clang!

The next moment, a clashing sound rang in the area.

”A leader acting so cowardly. Has the tribe lost all shame?” The Level 234 man took a jibe at the tribe leader.

He was the one who acted promptly and defended Laney from a sudden strike by the tribe leader.

A helpless sigh spread across the tribe leaderʼs face since he had lost the opportunity to kill the participant and win the battle. The next moment, the sigh froze on his face as his head flew away.

The Level 195 man crashed to the ground, trembling in fright after getting stared at by a Level 234 figure.

Laney stood there with her heart beating loudly since she seemed to have seen death when the sudden sense of danger hit her.

After the tribe leaderʼs death, it was easy for Laney to proceed comfortably. She didnʼt kill every last member of the tribe, but she assigned a new leader to the tribe.

At the same time, she also signed a contract making the tribe the cityʼs tributary, and they would need to protect the trade channel between Fring and Gring City.

It wasnʼt an easy task, and took a lot of death and torture to accomplish, but once it was done. Laney used the tribeʼs help and emptied the forest of the beasts that could challenge the tribeʼs supremacy and completely secure the trade channel.

With the trade channel secured, Laney completed the second quest and also got its confirmation from the pattern at the back of her hand.
