Chapter 1362: Four Months(30)

ʼAm I going to die?ʼ The thought rang in her head, seeing the approaching punch.

A wave of pressure hit her face, and the next moment, it suddenly disappeared. Following that, the pattern on her hand glowed, and a transparent barrier emerged from it. In no time, the barrier surrounded her, protecting her from any attack.

When the punch crashed on the barrier, the Orc felt as if it had landed on an unbreakable metal, breaking all its bones. It wasnʼt the end, and a wave of energy emerged from the barrier, striking the barrier.

The next moment, blood splashed on her face as the Orc exploded. The barrier seemed invisible at that moment.

Laney also sensed an item but found herself unable to touch it. Since the Orc got killed due to the rule of the area, Laney wasnʼt eligible for the loot.

Some distance from her, the man looked at the scene with interest. When the barrier suddenly appeared, past memories flashed in his eyes.

He then took a last glance at Laney and left the scene.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The spear in Laneyʼs hand clashed with the Orcʼs shield as the two battled.

The opponent was the strongest she had ever faced since she began training, so her face was solemn while battling.

The opponent had an ugly expression since it had thought that killing Laney would be easy and that the residency permit was his to lose.

Unfortunately for the Orc, Laney turned out to be equal in strength, if not stronger, despite being two levels lower than the creature.

The battle between the two raged on for around an hour but finally ended with Laneyʼs victory when she succeeded in piercing through the Orcʼs heart.

The next moment, an item fell out of the creatureʼs corpse. Laney excitedly bent down and picked up the item, ignoring the exhaustion and injuries across her body.

The item was a recruitment token, and when Laney found that it wasnʼt the white token, she couldnʼt help but jump in excitement.

The recruitment token in her hand was yellow in color, and it could recruit talent between Levels 100 and 150.

The Yellow recruitment token was more valuable than several white tokens since even fifty Level 100 beings wouldnʼt be able to provide her with the same help as one single Level 150 figure.

It had been two weeks since Laneyʼs training began, and she had yet to find a complete skill. She had fragments of five skills, but they were useless without completion, so their presence didnʼt matter at all. The spear was the best gain after the Yello recruitment token she had had in the past two weeks.

Laney only had a year to complete the second quest, so she had given herself six months to train, and then she would find the best talents in the next six months.

After the Orcʼs death on her first day, there were no strange situations around her, as if the third hand had given up. But Laney remained cautious since things could turn terrible at any time.

If not for the outrageous energy and vitality recovery rate, Laney would have been in deep trouble after her battle with a powerful Orc settlement on her sixth day there.

After the victory, Laney was so deeply injured that it would take years for her to recover if she were to only use the natural healing route. But even that kind of injury had fully healed in a few hours, making Laney ready to battle the next day.

The latest battle didnʼt cause that much injury, so she was ready to battle in only a few months. Even though the training didnʼt help her mentally and her mental stress was growing day by day, Laney knew she couldnʼt rest at that moment. She would rest after completing the second quest in the trial.

When her physical condition had reached an optimal level, she proceeded forward in search of another prey.

Laney had stopped hunting small settlements since the Orcs were weak, and the reward wasnʼt worth the effort. At the same time, Laney also noticed that after every killing, the aura around her was turning evil. It didnʼt take long for her to understand since with every successful killing by her hands, she was accumulating their resentment.

Even though they were weak when the resentment reached a terrible height, it would negatively affect her progress, and she didnʼt want to see that scene.

After walking a few miles, Laney found her next prey. It was an Orc who was three levels higher than her. Laney wasnʼt being overconfident, but her fighting talent was plenty enough to contend with beings like that.

The Orc also sensed Laneyʼs presence and immediately attacked since she was too big of a treasure in the creatureʼs eyes.

Laney fought back, with the spear instantly appearing in her hand, emerging from the space inside the pattern.

The Orc ignored the spear and attempted to grab Laneyʼs head. She skillfully moved away from the attack, but that affected the attackʼs target. The battle raged on between the two for a while and finally came to an end with Laneyʼs final strike.

Thud!

The next moment, the Orcʼs headless corpse crashed to the ground, spurting blood. Laney couldnʼt help but become disappointed when she failed to find any loot.

Since it wasnʼt the first time she hadnʼt gotten loot after the killing, she calmed down in no time. She then sat down and fully recovered in the span of a few minutes.

Laney then walked toward another hunt. Laney kept hunting and accumulating loot as time kept flowing.

Four months had passed since Laney began her training, and there was a clear difference between Laney before the training and Laney at that time. The change was drastic, as Laney had bulked up, and there was a bloody aura around her, chilling for the weak-willed.

The aura was nothing but resentment toward the Orcs she had killed, and it was slowly materializing. It negatively affected Laney as well, and she would feel unbearable pain from time to time.

Continuous killing over the past four months had taken a huge mental toll on her, but she seemed nowhere close to stopping.
