Chapter 1470: The 12th Pillar of the Ardagan Family

”What did you say?” Noel widened his eyes in shock.

”It looks like there’s a massive demon army coming toward the Lesen family’s territory. They’re still recovering economically after the battle against us, so if the demons devastate them, they will be crippled,” Harley reported.

This wasn’t the biggest problem. The fact that the Lesen family was attacked gave a massive headache to Noel. After all, this was Elaine’s family. Elaine had become irreplaceable in his territory.

It looked like the enemy had studied his territory quite a bit. If they lost Elaine, they wouldn’t be able to come up with a strategic law for their development. Considering the speed of their development, it would practically halt all their innovations if they ever lost Elaine.

”...” Noel looked down, falling into deep thought.

”Should we send reinforcements?” Harley asked. ”I have asked my girls to evacuate, but...”

Before Noel could give an answer, someone knocked on the door. Elaine’s voice echoed from the outside. ”My lord. This is Elaine. May I speak with you?”

”!!!” Noel’s expression turned solemn. He said, ”Come in.”

Elaine’s expression looked devastated. It looked like her family also sent a letter to her.

Elaine hung her head low. There was nothing her family could do to stop the demon attack. That was why she could only use one last resort.

”My lord...” Elaine abruptly dropped to her knees and banged her head on the floor, begging, ”I promise I won’t ask for anything more. This is my only request. Please send reinforcements to my family! There’s an ancient demon coming their way.

”You’re the only one who can stop them. I promise I will work like a slave for the rest of my life, but please save my family.”

As long as Noel made a move, her family would be safe. However, this was an ancient demon they were talking about. If they weren’t careful, the reinforcement would be crushed as well.

Harley fell silent, wondering what Noel planned to do. There was quite a distance from this place to the Lesen family.

As a pillar of the family, Harley would like to gather the allies around the north for reinforcement. This would be better than sending the Ardagan family’s army personally.

After all, they couldn’t afford to lose many of their people.

Elaine must have known about it as well. That was why she begged Noel to make a move. As long as he saved her family, she was willing to do anything.

”My lord. I believe we should gather reinforcements from the surrounding territories. If the Lesen family couldn’t stop the demon attack, they could contain it to a certain extent. Looking at this situation, the royal family will have no choice but to send their own people to take care of it.

”I’m assuming that there is a much bigger attack coming to us, so we can’t spend our force recklessly,” suggested Harley.

Elaine’s heart sank. The royal family’s reinforcement would be too late even if they sent one. The Lesen family would most likely suffer so much that maintaining the family wouldn’t be possible anymore.

That was why the only ones that could save her family right now were the Ardagan family.

”My lord...” Elaine opened her mouth. Her tears were streaming down. She had to convince Noel to send a reinforcement.

But before she could say anything, Noel muttered with a serious expression. ”That’s true. The main attack will most likely bring out both humans and demons. One spirit transcendence expert and one ancient demon should be expected. Sending reinforcements will leave us quite defenseless.”

Elaine’s face turned pale. Her last hope was gone. Was it because of her current status? Was it because her family had once attacked him? Their family had done a lot of wrong things, so even if Noel didn’t send reinforcements, it would be understandable.

When despair crept into her heart, Noel added, ”But...”

”!!!” Harley and Elaine widened their eyes.

”That only applies to a stranger.”

”!!!” Harley was surprised because Noel actually wanted to fall for the enemy’s trick. Even Elaine didn’t expect Noel would be sending reinforcements.

”It will be different if the one they attack is one of my closest people, right?”

”My lord...” Harley glanced at Elaine. ”She is from the Lesen family, the family that once attacked us. Even though you have forgiven them, making them one of your closest people is too much.”

”It’s not too much.” Noel shook his head. ”After all, the demons dare to touch one of the twelve pillars.”

”What?” Harley’s body shook. ”This...”

There were twelve pillars of the Ardagan family. The twelve pillars were basically the highest-ranking people in the Ardagan family.

Pillar of Worker - Dimitri

Pillar of Inner Management - Rose

Pillar of Economy - Balott

Pillar of City Development - Douglas

Pillar of Defense - Howard

Pillar of Espionage - Harley

Pillar of Farming - Jasmine

Pillar of Creation - Roel

Pillar of Medicine - Khalid

Pillar of Education - Livia

These were the original ten pillars, but Noel raised two fingers. ”Right now, thanks to Felicia, the last two pillars, the Pillar of Research and the Pillar of Development, can be fused together.

”Felicia will now be the Pillar of Research and Development. In other words, the Pillar of Research, which was originally Anna’s position, can now be replaced.

”I will replace it as the Pillar of Justice, the pillar that will oversee the law within the family and outside the family.”

Harley gasped. Even Elaine couldn’t believe it. Noel actually scraped one of the pillars just to make a justification for him to send reinforcement. If this matter were known, people would be dissatisfied with their lord. Yet, Noel still did it.

”Of course, that will depend on whether the person in question dares to accept this position or not.” Noel glanced at Elaine.

She finally found that hope. Originally, she had expected Noel to reject her. To her surprise, not only did he not reject her, but she was also given an important position, one of the highest-ranking positions in the Ardagan family.

Elaine hurriedly banged her head on the floor while shouting, ”Please accept my utmost loyalty, my lord. Please use my life as you see fit. I will do my best for the sake of the Ardagan family.”
