Chapter 1460: Shocking the Greenwood Kingdom

2 weeks after Raincart returned, a great shock hit the Greenwood Kingdom.

The sky was clear, but it was as if a huge crystal emerged in the sky. A human rose into the sky and touched this almost transparent crystal before shattering it.

The shattered pieces fell onto the city underneath.

”Whatʼs this?”

”Whatʼs going on?”

The people were confused, as they had never seen such power before. However, they couldnʼt help but recognize the man standing in the air.

”Thatʼs…”

”Thatʼs Former Duke!”

”Duke Raincart!”

The people couldnʼt contain their cheers. Even though his popularity wasnʼt comparable to Noelʼs, he was still a respectable noble in the kingdom. He had done a lot of things to make his city the best. Obviously, the people admired him for achieving many things.

Still, after passing that seat to his son, Raincart rarely appeared in front of everyone. In the end, if he appeared, his son had less chance to show his ability as the new duke. Hence, he stepped away to give his son the chance.

This time, the duke, whom they hadnʼt seen for a long time, suddenly made his appearance. The spectacular show from him grasped the peopleʼs hearts.

However, this show was much bigger than what normal citizens could see.

A huge man rushed into the plaza with a shocked expression.

”Thatʼs… Wait. Isnʼt he Fane, the unbeatable merchant? Heʼs in this city?”

The people recognized the huge man, but he wasnʼt the only one who came upon the phenomenon.

”Thatʼs… Captain Christopher! Our garrisonʼs captain? Why is he here? Is it not planned by the army?”

They whispered while looking at the middle-aged man wearing a military uniform. He simply watched Raincart before falling to one knee.

”Christopher Berkett would like to congratulate my lord for becoming the fourth spirit transcendence in the Greenwood Kingdom!”

”!!!” The citizens couldnʼt help but widen their eyes in shock. What did he just say? Spirit transcendence?

”Eh? Did I hear it wrong?”

”Did he just say that our lord just became a spirit transcendence?”

”So, our lord has broken through?”

As if confirming their suspicion, Merchant Fane also lowered his head and shouted, ”Fane from Maximilian Merchant Group would like to congratulate your excellency for officially becoming a spirit transcendence expert.

”My Maximilian Merchant Group would like to send a modest gift: 5,000 gold coins, 1,000 kg of iron, and our finest garment. Wishing your excellency to live a long life.”

”5,000 gold coins?”

”1,000 kg of iron?”

”If heʼs talking about the finest garment, isnʼt that the butterfly garment, the most favored product of the Maximilian Merchant Group?”

”So, our lord truly becomes a spirit transcendence expert?”

”Ooohhhhh!”

”Long live Lord Raincart!”

”Long live Lord Raincart!”

The people cheered. They definitely knew the significance of a spirit transcendence. This kingdom had two such experts, each of them holding an important position.

One of them controlled the entire coast of the Greenwood Kingdom, the second one married the kingʼs sister, the eldest daughter of the old king. Each of them had their own authority, as they were above all nobles and only under one king.

And this time, the third spirit transcendence had appeared. And it was their lord. How could they not cheer?

Raincart looked at them for a moment. Although it would have been good to greet them, Raincart chose to use his power to raise his voice.

”The Ezenholm family will be holding a party for every citizen that will last for 3 days.” Raincart smiled before disappearing into thin air.

”Uoohhh!”

The people cheered even louder. With this party, Raincart had confirmed that he indeed had become a spirit transcendence.

As expected, the matter of becoming a spirit transcendence became huge news right away. This information spread like wildfire.

Obviously, the king also received this information.

He was probably the only person in this kingdom who didnʼt know whether to laugh or cry.

The king pinched his forehead while sighing. He couldnʼt help but remember what happened when Raincart returned to the kingdom.

Thanks to his support, they managed to get a lot of information, such as the third princess hiding her power the whole time and finally taking over the kingdom.

But when he returned, the king could see his helpless expression. It was clear that Raincart was angry because he was the type of grandfather that never took advantage of his grandchildren.

At the same time, he was hopeless because it was a direct order from the king.

That was why his head hung low when the king said, ”Good work, Raincart. Does Marquis Ardagan have a request?”

”No, Your Majesty. He has taken care of me in the past week as my grandson. If you pardon me, Iʼd like to return home.”

People would think Raincart was excessive if they didnʼt know him. But it was thanks to his love of his family that no one dared to touch the Ezenholm family, believing that Raincart would fight to the very end if they touched a single hair of his family.

This request had soured the relationship between the former student and teacher.

And this time, that teacher became a spirit transcendence. It was as if he sent a message that the feeling he had because of that request was used to take the last step to improve himself.

With their relationship soured like this, the king didnʼt know whether to laugh or cry. If it were in the past, he would have started preparing to visit the Ezenholm family and congratulate him. But after that request, he couldnʼt help but wonder if it would just make their relationship even worse.

Raincart definitely wouldnʼt send him away, but he would certainly remember this matter.

At the same time, it was necessary for him to get the information about the third princess. That mission had to happen.

That was why Raincart had objected previously but still took that mission. Even he knew it was necessary.

Still, it definitely complicated their relationship.

”Well, this is awkward…”
