Chapter 1452: Alive?

Noel smiled. ”If it were anyone else, I would have turned them down. But it’s your request, Grandfather. You have helped me so much because you are my grandfather, so please... allow your grandchild to do something for you as well.”

Feeling blessed, Raincart closed his eyes. ”Thank you.”

”You’re welcome.” Noel nodded. ”Since Grandfather is here, why don’t you spend some time relaxing? There are a lot of things I want to tell you, Grandfather.”

”Yeah. Let’s do that. I will take responsibility if they are doing something wrong.”

”All right. Let’s stop discussing this matter.” Noel tilted his body and waved his hand to Tristan. ”Grandfather. You have met him before.”

”Oh my. He’s your first disciple. To think that he already became a Spirit Wielder... he’s extremely talented.” Raincart nodded. ”But he doesn’t look like he’s experienced in combat.”

”Yes, Grandfather. That’s because Tristan’s path is different from mine. I might be a fighter, but Tristan will be a Rune Meister.”

”Rune Meister? Are you talking about the people who fight with runes?”

”No. Currently, I have five branches for runes. The first one will be similar to me and Anna, Rune Fighter. We can fight with runes or have our bodies boosted by runes.

”The second type is Rune Mage. They’re reflected in our Rune Squad. They fight with runes entirely because most of them don’t even awaken their spirits.

”The third type is Rune Engineer. This profession is for those who are mingling with Rune Technology from the invention to the creation.

”The fourth type is Rune Master. This is probably the highest level because the person who can do this has to master all types of runes and combine them together. Right now, I’m probably the only one classified as a Rune Master. We call this Rune Array.

”This is different from a Rune Engineer, who is drawing a certain rune. Instead, they’re applying all kinds of runes to create a mechanism. For example, I can use the Blood Rune for identification to activate another rune. There will be a defensive rune as well, and so on. Combining all of them together, you will create an array.

”Last but not least, Rune Meister. Rune Meister is a profession that creates rune cards. Show it to him, Tristan.”

”Yes, Master.” Tristan nodded and took out a Spiritual Barrier Rune Card and activated it.

”Oh?” Raincart looked amused. ”This must be the Spiritual Barrier Rune, right?”

”You recognize it, Grandfather?”

”Yes, I’ve read a lot since the rune books became public.”

”I see.” Noel nodded. ”Yes. This Rune Card can record a single rune. More importantly, you don’t need your own spiritual energy to activate it. The Rune Card itself contains spiritual energy to activate the rune.

”Hence, even if it’s an ordinary person, as long as they have something like a Meteor Rune Card, they can probably demolish a building or two.”

”Seriously? Isn’t it kind of dangerous?” Raincart raised his eyebrows.

”Yes, that’s why Rune Meister hasn’t been publicized yet. Right now, the only ones who can make them are me, Anna, Tristan, and Livia. I have asked them not to reveal it yet.”

”No wonder Her Highness Livia hasn’t mentioned anything about Rune Cards. If someone possesses this rune card, there will be chaos. You probably have to regulate it carefully.”

”Yes. My people are working on the regulation right now, but it will take time.” Noel nodded.

”So, Rune Meister is the one creating the rune cards... To think that such a big rune can be compressed to this small...”

Noel smiled. ”That’s how it is. It will be helpful in our fight in the future. This is actually related to what I’m about to say.

”I couldn’t get a direct confirmation, but I believe I have found the demon king.”

”Really? We’re talking about the same demon king, right?”

”Yes, it’s the one that terrorized the world a thousand years ago. It looks like the third prince became a demonic human by swallowing a demon king in its original form.

”As of now, he’s equal to a spirit transcendence who has found their king path. Not long after this, he might return as a demon king.”

”What? So soon?”

”Yes. Even this is outside my expectation.” Noel nodded.

”So, you have found the king path... You’re probably the only one who can fight him.”

”Anna is on her way to catch up with me. I won’t be alone, so don’t worry.”

”Is that so? Such a good daughter-in-law... Thank you.” Raincart smiled widely.

”It’s no problem, Grandfather.” Anna nodded.

”Right now. I’m building up my strength along with my army. After all, there’s a high chance they will come with multiple ancient demons along with a huge army. A million? A few million? I don’t know.

”That’s why I’m making my territory as one giant fortress to repel them. It’s just... I’m afraid that the demon king is going to attack all kingdoms simultaneously.

”As a result, other kingdoms will be too occupied to help me.”

”Don’t worry. I will send reinforcements.” Raincart held Noel’s hand, reassuring him.

”No. I don’t mind, Grandfather. The reason I told you about this is that I want you to focus on the defense instead. All the kingdoms have to protect their own.

”As long as you can stop them from targeting my back, this is more than enough.”

Raincart looked down. ”I see. In that case, I will manipulate the court and tighten the security. I can’t make it so obvious since it will alert those demons, right?”

”Definitely.”

”I guess I can do this much.” Raincart helped Noel because it concerned humanity. It was different from the Greenwood Kingdom’s request, as they were wary of another human rather than a demon. That was why he didn’t even think this was a favor. ”Still, will you have enough people to defend this place? Although you have been expanding and having more people migrate to your territory...”

Noel shook his head. ”I have more than enough. Actually, I’ll be receiving another helping hand.”

”Another help?”

”Yes. Do you know that... Mother and Father are still alive?”
