Chapter 1538: Chapter 4: Two Choices

Su Xiao entered the witch’s bedroom shortly, and he heard fighting sounds outside the room. Hearing this sound, the witch with Dragon Slash pressed against her neck ’sighed in relief’.

In less than a minute, A Mu walked into the room carrying a semi-conscious young man. That icy War Hammer in his hand was dripping with blood.

The young man’s body was convulsing unconsciously, red light flickering in A Mu’s eyes, his large hands exerting force.

Crack!

The young man convulsed once more before his body went limp. A Mu had snapped his neck. Dense slash marks could be seen on A Mu’s chest, but its defensive power was too strong, so the invader couldn’t damage its internal Core Array Map.

A Mu’s way of facing enemies was simple: ignoring enemy attacks while using the War Hammer in his hand to pummel the foe. If hit even once by it, one would be affected by its disgusting slowing ability, decreasing speed, which meant easier targeting by A Mu, thus forming a vicious cycle with the slowing effect getting stronger.

”Kas city’s Young Sword Saint... so weak.”

The witch was very disappointed. This young man wasn’t her subordinate but an attendant sent by the neighboring city-state to protect her safety. As things stood, this Young ’Sword Saint’ was already dead.

With a thud, A Mu threw the young man’s corpse on the ground and casually picked up a wooden carving to snack on, eating with an unusually sweet savor.

Seeing A Mu chewing up the human-height wooden carving, the witch crouching defensively on the bed switched to a kneeling posture, eager to survive.

”Well then, let’s begin.”

Su Xiao took out a metal collar to start adjusting.

”What is... this?”

The witch swallowed, instinctively sensing that what Su Xiao held was not good.

”An object conducive to friendly communication.”

As soon as Su Xiao finished speaking, the ”Endless Darkness” Collar opened, the blue circle of indicator lights lighting up.

”As a civilized race, can we negotiate in a more civilized manner?”

The witch swallowed again. Su Xiao’s intrusion could be described as ’disaster from the heavens’. She was in the midst of self-exploration when suddenly interrupted. From the current situation, the intruder intended to do some strange things to her.

”Alright.”

Su Xiao put away ”Endless Darkness”, and Dragon Slash returned to its sheath. The kneeling witch on the bed sighed in relief.

Bubu Wang leaped in from the window, bounding behind the witch to prevent any tricks she might pull.

”Sir, are you here to plunder valuables or with some other ulterior motives?”

The witch asked this question naturally, showing how chaotic the law of this world must be.

”I came to ask you some questions.”

”Just that simple?”

The witch was astonished at Su Xiao. She was even prepared mentally to be pinned to the bed for... dubious activities. As it turned out, things seemed simpler than she imagined.

”Where is Death Land.”

As soon as Su Xiao spoke, the witch’s complexion changed. She was afraid, a deep-seated fear.

”I, I don’t know.”

A clumsy lie. Obviously, this witch knew something about Death Land, namely the location of the Blade Demon Sealing Device.

The witch’s gaze began to flicker, her expression indicating she didn’t want to conceal, yet she feared something.

”Is that so, then never mind.”

”No, wait.”

The witch crossed her hands before her, her expression extremely conflicted. It could be said this witch was the weakest among all witches, pitifully weak.

”I...”

The witch struggled in thought, finally giving a long sigh.

”I’m Joan Aissiya, White Witch, Life Witch, Plant System. As you can see, my abilities are not suitable for battle, but I can save many people...”

Through Joan Aissiya’s preliminary introduction, Su Xiao roughly understood her situation. Aissiya was a Prophecy system White Witch. Although her abilities were unrelated to prophecy, the strongest ability among White Witches was language, thus they were collectively referred to as Prophecy system.

Aissiya’s abilities were special; she could control plant growth. This ability seemingly suited for combat had a touch of Senju Hashirama’s vibes but was not actually the case. She could only support plant growth and not quicken its growth, but her ability’s range covered a vast area. Fields outside this city were within her influence.

This capability of increasing crop yield was very strong in this technology-deficient world. She didn’t need to worry about surrounding other kingdoms attacking her territory. Every autumn, she gave free grain to over a dozen nearby cities, and in gratitude, the ’Magdeburg Gathering Place’ became a neutral territory.

In Aissiya’s words, her ability alone fed over a dozen surrounding cities. However, her combat strength was very weak in this chaotic continent. The fact that she could develop her power to this extent was already the limit.

Originally, kings and lords around wanted to send people to protect Aissiya, but she outright refused. She knew if she accepted their protection, she’d become subjugated. Therefore she always wanted to cultivate her power; the young man killed by A Mu was a hitman Aissiya hired, known in the neighboring city for his slight fame, but apparently just hype.

Su Xiao, of course, didn’t lightly trust Aissiya’s one-sided words. He used the Eye of the Apostle to probe the other’s information, and although there was a slight discrepancy, Aissiya’s abilities matched her self-narrative broadly.

Su Xiao was bewildered before; the previous witch bounty was clearly notorious, but Aissiya here had a different air altogether. This peach-like mature woman’s initial toughness was merely a disguise.

Aissiya was notably timid; she was the ’shame’ among witches. Some Black Witches almost fainted out of rage upon hearing her farming, and even wanted to kill her to prevent further disgrace to witches. However, those Black Witches left the day they arrived, never killing Aissiya.

No matter how peculiar Aissiya’s actions were, she could find a way to survive on this chaotic continent and live abundantly.

As Aissiya narrated her ’sob story’, Su Xiao interrupted her. Such a bizarre witch was rare, and Su Xiao was preparing to understand the abilities of other witches through her and find clues to Death Land.

”Two options: one, get thrown down from here.”

While Su Xiao spoke, A Mu pushed open the window. The rain had let up, and the cool night wind blew into the room.

”I choose the second.”

Aissiya’s tone was very certain.

”Tell me the location of Death Land.”

”Uh~”

Aissiya’s expression was coy, her seductive eyes fluttering.

”Sir, don’t be so rough, I’m just... wait, let go of me, help! Uh~”

Half a minute later, Aissiya was hung upside down from the ceiling by A Mu with a bedsheet, A Mu’s hands gripping the Ice warhammer, posed to swing. With a command from Su Xiao, A Mu would smash Aissiya, focusing not at all on her beauty.

”3, 2...”

As Su Xiao counted down, A Mu’s arm muscles bulged. Through initial contact, Su Xiao understood this woman’s character: typically responds to hard rather than soft tactics.

”Issa knows where Death Land is!”

With a swoosh, the Ice warhammer stopped before Aissiya.

”Issa?”

”Yes, Black Witch Issa, my friend.”

Aissiya showed no guilt while betraying a friend. From start to finish, Su Xiao hadn’t intended to use ”Endless Darkness” on her. This equipment was very special, the trait of being irrepairable meant each use required careful consideration.

Or rather, after inspecting Aissiya’s information, Su Xiao never planned on doing anything to her, provided she was willing to disclose information.
