Chapter 1536: Chapter 2: Evil Overflowing

Su Xiao quickly skimmed through the world’s summary and gained a preliminary understanding of this world. It is now the year 1433 of the Dark Crow Era. The technology of this time is relatively backward. Due to wars, this world has invented the steam engine and has a basic grasp of electricity, but generating electricity remains a significant problem. Only the nobility can use things like electric lights.

Steam engines and trains are the most advanced technology. As for weapons, they are all high-power shotguns, commonly known as spray guns, using diamonds as bullets. Fill gunpowder as much as possible to maximize power and destructive range. As for heavy weapons like tanks and cannons, they simply do not exist, or rather, no one has chosen to develop in this direction.

The reason for such peculiar weapon development is that the humans of this world views their only enemies as witches, or at least that’s what those kingdoms and tribal forces believe.

The existence of witches has long been accepted by ordinary people. They’re not like street rats that everyone wants to beat up. The witch territories are called ’Human Assembly Areas,’ while areas ruled by humans are called kingdoms, empires, tribes, and so on. Among these, the tribes are the most backward, yet they are the strongest in resisting witches.

Countless small and large kingdoms, tribes, and assembly areas exist. No one can reunify this continent because the witches that appeared after the Dark Crow are nowhere near as powerful as her. They have a common weakness: diamonds.

When diamonds are lodged in their bodies, the witches’ abilities are greatly reduced. Of course, tens of thousands of humans may not be a match for a single witch; this is a lesson learned in blood.

Witches can basically be divided into three main categories: Element Type, Curse Type, and Prophecy Type.

Elemental witches have the strongest combat strength. Most witches control a single element, but they’re fundamentally different from mages. Elemental witches aren’t physically frail, and they don’t have magic circuits, either. They drive elements in a more violent, direct way. Power-wise, a same-level elemental witch’s combat effectiveness is several times that of a mage.

If mages were to see how witches cast, nine out of ten would freeze and then run away. It’s not out of fear but because no one wants to fight to the death with a ’madman.’

Curse-type witches are bizarre. If they want to kill someone, they won’t attack them directly. Instead, they collect the person’s hair, blood, etc., using them as mediums to kill the target.

The prophecy type, on the other hand, is completely harmless. No, they are very welcomed. Even though they have the ability to kill, prophecy witches lead a Buddha-like life and are timid. Their only headache is having too many admirers, and that’s it.

It could be said that a witch’s abilities are determined by her personality: extreme personalities are definitely elemental, sinister ones are curse-type, and the kinder ones are 100% prophecy-type.

Witches are transformed from ordinary women, but how this transformation occurs is unknown. Witches choose their power heirs themselves or through taking by force. Folk information says no one wants to become a witch, as it’s a very painful process.

After reviewing the witch information, Su Xiao found this world very interesting. The main combat force is witches. Of course, some ”Alien Races” on the continent’s borders also have considerable combat strength, and witches will not easily provoke them.

Life for civilians in the various kingdoms isn’t considered happy, but they can survive. However, all civilians fear Black Witches, who are elemental and curse witches. Prophecy witches are referred to as White Witches.

There is no enmity between Black and White Witches. White Witches also aren’t qualified to oppose Black Witches, as they too fear them.

Black Witches don’t particularly like interacting with civilians, considering them mere mortals and live experimental materials, nothing more.

The goodness or badness of a witch cannot be judged by whether they are a Black Witch or a White Witch; it should be based on their actions.

Just as Su Xiao finished reviewing the witch-related information, a prompt from Reincarnation Paradise appeared.

[Hunters can choose one of the following main tasks.]

[Main Task: Witch Hunter (Difficulty Lv.35).]

[Main Task: Explorer (Difficulty Lv.31).]

[Main Task: Dark Crow (Difficulty Lv.37).]

[Main Task: Awakening of the Blade (Difficulty Lv.40, extremely dangerous).]

...

Because Su Xiao entered this world at his own expense, he has four main tasks to choose from, which is quite the VIP treatment. Bubu Wang, as a servant, also saw these prompts, which made it sigh, its gaze seemingly saying, ”Spending money really makes a difference.”

The main tasks are determined according to Su Xiao’s personal situation, something he had seen related tips about before. As for the choice, it certainly would be the Awakening of the Blade.

[Hunter has accepted Main Task: Awakening of the Blade.]

[Main Task: Awakening of the Blade.]

Difficulty Level: Lv.40 (Extremely dangerous)

Task Introduction: Locate the ’Demon Blade Energy Sealing Device’ and complete the Awakening of the Blade.

Task Information: Specific information about the Demon Blade Energy Sealing Device is known by only one witch, referred to by witches as the Death Land.

Task Duration: 30 natural days.

Task Reward: Soul-Cutting Shadow Stone·Incomplete ×1.

Task Penalty: Forcible execution.

...

Activating the main task has its pros and cons. The advantage is that Su Xiao now has a lead. Without the main task, he’d be in complete darkness, not knowing where to find the ’Knife Demon Sealing Device.’

Not only that, but his original stay limit was only 10 days, now increased to 30 days, allowing much more leeway.

Moreover, the main task has a reward, and due to this main task’s special nature, it grants a fragment of the Soul-Cutting Shadow Stone. If Su Xiao gathers five fragments of the Soul-Cutting Shadow Stone, he can synthesize a complete Soul-Cutting Shadow Stone, a power-inheritance type gemstone.

As for the downside of activating the main task, it’s the forcible execution penalty. Almost every main task Su Xiao has seen had this kind of penalty.

After paying 5000 Paradise Coins, a wealth of language-related knowledge surged into Su Xiao’s brain, and he quickly mastered the language of this world.

Upon looking at the announcement on the wall again, he realized it wasn’t about grain collection, but a bounty for a witch.

Sharin Sharp, Black Witch.

Bounty: 107 Gold Coins (hard currency, extremely inconvenient for transactions), 6250 Bay (some form of universal currency), or 8000 Lu Wheat (1 Lu approximately equals 1.8 kg), dead or alive.

Charges: Multiple murders, abuse/murder/abduction of boys (aged 8–10), ruining a marriage of the Kingdom of Chrony’s princess (seduced her husband, husband remains missing, presumed dead), human experimentation, theft, solicitation (as reported by a prostitute, Sharin Sharp only wanted to pay her with self-made money).

...

Upon seeing the solicitation charge, Su Xiao almost burst out laughing. A witch soliciting was strange enough, but to issue a promissory note afterward, what self-made currency? The witch simply had no money.

Clearly, prostitution isn’t illegal in this world, and from the bounty order, it seems to even be protected officially.

The funniest part isn’t even the crimes committed by this witch, but the drawing on top. Su Xiao didn’t see it wrong before; it’s just a wheat field. Upon close examination, one can vaguely see a silhouette in the wheat, truly a masterpiece of a soul artist.

Bubu Wang was dumbfounded, staring at the bounty notice on the wall. After Su Xiao spent Paradise Coins, it too mastered this world’s text.

”Woof.”

Bubu Wang burst out laughing, indicating: ”If this ghost of a bounty manages to catch the criminal, then I’ll pee standing on my head while spinning, a perfectly round circle.”
