Chapter 1512: Chapter 35: Interrogation

Su Xiao looked at Soi Fon with confusion, seemingly unable to understand what she was saying, yet he didn’t immediately enter the room.

”What, afraid to go in?”

Soi Fon’s eyes squinted slightly, her petite body tensing.

”Of course, what is this place? Why does it feel a bit eerie?”

Not only did Su Xiao not enter the room, he even took two steps back. Seeing this, Soi Fon’s thin lips twitched imperceptibly. She restrained herself from laughing because Su Xiao’s reaction was so normal. If he had entered the room calmly, Soi Fon could have been sure that Su Xiao had a problem.

Is it true that innocent people have nothing to fear? Sometimes, that’s not the case. If Su Xiao entered the room calmly, it would instead indicate that he was disguising something; everyone has instinctual fears, and those who suppress their instincts are often pretending.

”The importance of this place doesn’t matter, but you’re about to be judged.”

Soi Fon stared into Su Xiao’s eyes, but unfortunately, Su Xiao was destined to disappoint her.

”Judgment...”

Su Xiao pondered for a moment, quickly thinking of something.

”Is the Captain-General inside the room?”

”Of course.”

”Is Captain Ukitake also there?”

”Stop wasting time, get in quickly.”

Soi Fon began to grow impatient. After hesitating for a dozen seconds, Su Xiao lifted his foot and walked toward the room. What he could confirm was that the Jingling Court had begun to clean out the traitors.

In this regard, Su Xiao wasn’t too concerned. He wasn’t the only traitor; Aizen, Gin Ichimaru, and Kaname Tosen were all traitors—among the thirteen captains, three were traitors.

As Su Xiao entered the room, the oil lamps on the walls were lit, illuminating everything inside. It was an interrogation room with a wooden chair at the center surrounded by a circular wooden table.

Soi Fon walked up behind Su Xiao, signaling him to enter the center of the open space through a gap in the circular table and sit on the wooden chair in the center.

Su Xiao cooperated well, and once seated, he glanced around. Behind the circular wooden table sat four people: Jing Le Chunsui (Captain of the Eighth Division), Kaname Tosen (Captain of Squad 9, Aizen’s co-conspirator), Hitsugaya Tōshirō (Captain of the Tenth Division), and Momo Hinamori.

Seeing these four, Su Xiao knew the interrogation was stable today. With Kaname Tosen, the traitor, sitting on the questioning panel, if Su Xiao were to reveal anything under interrogation, it would mean his wit was weak.

More importantly, Su Xiao was not only related to the Guard Court Thirteen Teams, but the great nobles within Jingling Court also had alliances with him. As a creator of Spirit Particle Balls, it was easy for him to connect with these big families.

There were four major families within Jingling Court, that is, High-level nobility, whose bloodlines were close to the Royal Family, giving them immense power.

The four great noble families were: the Kuchiki family, the Shihouin Family, the Tsunayashiro Family, and the Shiba Family.

Su Xiao made connections with three of the four great noble families. He ostensibly created 100 Spirit Particle Balls every day, but in reality, it was 200: 100 for the Guard Court Thirteen Teams, 50 for the Kuchiki family, 30 for the Shihouin Family, and 20 for the Tsunayashiro Family. The Shiba Family had fallen so much that when they contacted Su Xiao, they showed no willingness to cooperate.

Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni, of course, knew this well, but he had no choice but to ignore it. Jingling Court wasn’t solely his; the four—no, three major nobles, had considerable power as well.

It was a division of benefits, with the Guard Court Thirteen Teams taking the largest share, already gaining a significant standing.

In fact, the captains interrogating Su Xiao today show that the Guard Court Thirteen Teams couldn’t ignore the three major nobility. Among these four captains, none were related to the three major nobles, and even the Assassination Squad’s Soi Fon didn’t directly participate, revealing the clear relationship of interests.

Soi Fon was born into the lower noble Hive Family, a subordinate family to the Shihouin Family. Which means, Soi Fon was related to the Shihouin Family, and therefore could not directly participate in Su Xiao’s interrogation.

The interrogation of Su Xiao was proposed by Momo Hinamori, which caused Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni a headache because Su Xiao was no longer the Fourth Division’s researcher to be played with at their will. The relationships behind him were known only by few.

Yet, Yamamoto Genryūsai still agreed to this suggestion, even pushing through the protests of the Kuchiki and Shihouin families, arranging for this secret interrogation.

The Spirit Particle Balls were crucial to the great nobles; they were rare resources for cultivating the next generation. If a noble descendant consumed Spirit Particle Balls from a young age, then by adulthood, even with no talent, at least a Shikai Zanpakuto would be no problem, an irresistible temptation for these great nobles.

Originally, Jing Le Chunsui wanted to bring in Kuchiki Bai Zai as well since he was a very upright person. However, the head of the Kuchiki family politely refused, showing the attitude of the Kuchiki family. As for the Tsunayashiro Family, they did nothing.

As long as Su Xiao could leave the interrogation room today, the future distribution of Spirit Particle Balls would not involve the Tsunayashiro Family. Such overbearing collaborators as them were not needed by Su Xiao.

Jing Le Chunsui, Kaname Tosen, Hitsugaya Tōshirō, and Momo Hinamori exchanged glances.

”Since everyone’s here, let’s begin...”

Ten minutes later, Su Xiao had a basic understanding of the situation. This wasn’t an interrogation, but a probe. The interrogation wasn’t the main purpose; Su Xiao’s reaction before entering the room was the key.

However, when Jing Le Chunsui inquired about Su Xiao’s actions during the incidents surrounding Aizen’s assassination, Momo Hinamori interrupted him.

Momo Hinamori’s intent was clear: since Su Xiao’s arrival, unrest had started in Jingling Court. Regardless of the explanations, Su Xiao should be closely watched for a period.

This was just a polite way of saying it. Momo Hinamori’s goal was to imprison Su Xiao, and then she would have the chance to harshly interrogate him.

Imprisoning Su Xiao without evidence was, of course, unlikely. Su Xiao’s contributions to Jingling Court couldn’t be erased by a few words from Momo Hinamori. This was just a standard procedure check, and Su Xiao wasn’t the primary suspect.

From beginning to end, Su Xiao had stayed within the First Squad premises and had been monitored by the Assassination Squad’s Nan Que. No matter how the investigation continued, there was no direct evidence linking Jingling Court’s upheaval to Su Xiao. Besides, the Ryoka invasion was a more suspect target.

Su Xiao was no longer worried about this kind of interrogation from Jingling Court. He was more concerned about whether those captain-level Soul Reapers would take action directly. If he didn’t want to sit back and wait for death, he would have no choice but to fight back. If that happened, he would end the plan ahead of schedule and give Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni and Aizen a ’surprise.’

”Four days at most, no, three days.”

An hour later, Su Xiao walked out of the interrogation room, muttering to himself. Meanwhile, the Zanpakutō of Ukitake Jūshirō, the Captain of the Thirteenth Division, was stolen. Clearly, Su Xiao had accelerated the progress of his plan.

Su Xiao’s situation had already started to become dangerous, or rather, it was the natural development of the situation. His infiltration method was different from Aizen’s. After infiltrating Jingling Court, Aizen rarely took action, whereas Su Xiao was the opposite. His time was limited, and he had to do something during the infiltration, or it would be a substantial loss.
