Chapter 1505: Chapter 28: Zuo Zongwei and Shadow

The shadow quickly disappeared into the night, and Komamura Sajin did not make a move, or rather he had no chance to act, as the shadow’s speed was simply too fast.

Looking at the darkness of Hollows Street, Komamura Sajin hesitated. He felt that something was very wrong today, requiring a long-term plan, but now there was hardly any time for him to think.

The female Soul Reaper who was taken is named Saya, although she is just a regular member of the Seventh Division, Komamura Sajin greatly appreciates her talent. It was he who personally selected her for the Seventh Division.

If it were another squad captain, faced with the current situation, they would definitely weigh it several times. However, Komamura Sajin only hesitated for a moment, left a series of carvings beneath the corpse of Danbō, and then swiftly chased in the direction where the shadow disappeared.

A few kilometers away, in the forest, Su Xiao held a military mini-computer, sitting cross-legged on a thick tree branch.

Sss~

The screen on the mini-computer paused; Su Xiao tapped the side cover, which was to no avail.

Through the surveillance screen, Su Xiao confirmed that the target was already pursuing, which was also why he chose Komamura Sajin, or rather, Komamura Sajin was the bait.

If Su Xiao can defeat Komamura Sajin tonight and kill him, his hunt in Jingling Court will officially begin.

”Seems like he does not intend to follow orders, as expected.”

Su Xiao dropped the mini-computer in his hand and leapt from the tree branch.

To lure out Komamura Sajin, Su Xiao used the ’Aizen attacked’ clue, after which the shadow will be exposed in the sights of many captains, becoming tonight’s prime suspect. When the shadow, no, it should be referred to as Zuo Zhongwei made a certain decision, his role in Su Xiaoxin’s plan dropped from high-level combat power to senior cannon fodder.

Afterwards, things became much simpler, directly using the shadow to lure the enemy; even if it fails, though there will be losses, it is not an unacceptable level.

Two figures moved one after the other through Hollows Street, chased several hundred meters, and Komamura Sajin stopped his pace.

It’s not that he dared not continue pursuing, but rationality told him he should not continue to chase.

”Captain, let me go! I...”

A loud yell came from ahead, it was the female Soul Reaper, bound with a red blood line, completely losing the ability to resist.

With a thud, the shadow threw the female Soul Reaper onto the ground, strands of red blood line extended from his Zanpakutō, the red blood line surged, and the female Soul Reaper was surprised to find that she actually regained her freedom.

With a slashing sound, a blood beam cleaved through the night sky, the female Soul Reaper’s body paused, the blade had sliced past her neck.

The female Soul Reaper lowered her head, trying to stand up, her movement stiff, like a walking corpse.

”Indeed, it is Huang Quan.”

Witnessing the scene, Komamura Sajin confirmed Zuo Zhongwei’s identity.

”Komamura, the order was to lead you into the forest, but I have no intention of doing so.”

The shadow, indeed Zuo Zhongwei, smiled faintly, his Zanpakutō slowly returning to its sheath, and a blood glow filled the female Soul Reaper’s eyes, an eerie smile appeared on her face.

”Although there’s a chance that doing this could...”

Zuo Zhongwei’s words were halted halfway, as his body suddenly stiffened.

”Komamura, quickly...leave...this place, that guy...”

Veins exploded across Zuo Zhongwei’s entire body, a formation diagram appeared in his pupils, moments later Zuo Zhongwei’s expression returned to normal, now he had become the shadow.

”Indeed, if loyalty points are below a certain level, the summons cannot retain personal consciousness.”

A slightly dissatisfied voice came from the darkness.

”Who!”

Komamura Sajin unsheathed the Zanpakutō at his waist, this was a very traditional Zanpakutō.

A figure draped in a black robe and hood emerged from the shadows, it was Su Xiao, he approached Zuo Zhongwei from behind, pressing a diamond-shaped crystal onto ’Zuo Zhongwei’s’ back.

The diamond-shaped crystal ignored the obstruction of flesh, gradually penetrating into ’Zuo Zhongwei’s’ body, Zuo Zhongwei’s eyes regained some spirit, but far from previously vibrant.

”From now on, any creature approaching, kill them all.”

”Yes.”

Zuo Zhongwei, no, the shadow knelt on one knee, though still dressed sloppily, his demeanor drastically differed from before.

The reason Su Xiao retained the shadow’s personal consciousness was because he intended to leverage the shadow’s Shikai ability. Proficient in Alchemy Biology, Su Xiao could completely control the shadow, but that would cause the latter to lose two abilities, namely the Shikai and Bankai of the Zanpakutō.

Undoubtedly, losing these two abilities, the shadow’s combat strength would sharply decrease. However, not doing so, Zuo Zhongwei’s betrayal was a matter of time.

Su Xiao had previously been observing whether it was possible to raise Zuo Zhongwei’s loyalty points, and from the current situation, it was utterly impossible, thus he decisively sealed Zuo Zhongwei’s consciousness, turning him into the shadow.

Komamura Sajin witnessed the entirety of these strange developments, leaving him with a sense of foreboding.

”Who are you?”

Komamura Sajin regretted the question just after asking, realizing its futility.

”Met me during the day, and now don’t recognize me? The sense of smell for canines should be keen.”

Su Xiao pulled down the hood, smiling amiably.

”It’s you...”

Komamura Sajin was merely surprised for a brief moment and then accepted the reality.

”Is this the purpose of your entry into Jingling Court? If I’m not mistaken, Captain Aizen also fell by your hand, researcher, Bai Ye!”

Komamura Sajin gritted his teeth at the last words, secretly shocked, for a simple reason: he too had ingested a Spirit Particle Ball, which was crafted by Su Xiao himself, a chilling realization.

Komamura Sajin grew increasingly terrified, but he didn’t immediately retreat, for retreating was no longer an option. Currently, he stood within the Hollows Street area, surrounded by desolate wilderness, with the shadow blocking his rear.

”......”

Su Xiao remained silent, his smile gradually fading.

Clack, clack......

The sound of contraptions opening and closing echoed from within Su Xiao’s attire, numerous ring shackles slid from his sleeves, falling to the ground.

Blood energy spread visibly around Su Xiao, in an instant, insect and frog noises ceased, leaving the nearby half-kilometer in deathly silence.

With a slicing sound, Dragon Slash unsheathed, pale blue arcs surged upon Dragon Slash, appearing as a thunder blade in the night.

”Brilliant deception.”

Komamura Sajin was ’completely clear’ about the situation, or rather, he had already guessed Su Xiao’s purpose of infiltrating Jingling Court, likely for revenge, with squad captains being his targets.

If it were an ordinary person, Komamura Sajin wouldn’t be as tense as he was now, but Su Xiao was a researcher providing the Spirit Particle Ball. If he had tampered with the Spirit Particle Ball, it would be an extremely terrifying matter.

In fact, Komamura Sajin was overly concerned, as the Spirit Particle Ball brought pure advantages to Soul Reapers with no harm whatsoever. With Yamamoto Genryuusai, Ukitake, and Momo Hinamori as these three captains, Su Xiao wouldn’t dare tamper within the Spirit Particle Ball, which would be digging a pit for oneself.

”Bai Ye, I still have one last question. You’ve painstakingly done all this...”

Komamura Sajin’s words held no draw for Su Xiao, for a simple reason: he had already discerned the ulterior motive being extraction of more intelligence from his mouth.

Although Su Xiao ignored Komamura Sajin’s inquiry, he was indeed probing the level of information possessed by the adversary, he wanted to ascertain the strength of Captain-level Soul Reapers, assuming Komamura Sajin was the lowest among Captain-level Soul Reapers.
