Not Being a Trainer This Time

”Wow!”

After a brief silence, the entire Royal Dome erupted into a sky-high cheer.

Countless spectators excitedly stood up from their seats.

Tapu Guardians!

What did they just witness?

An ordinary Alcremie actually used Metronome, a move purely relying on luck, to defeat three strong opponents in one fell swoop!

In terms of drama and excitement, this ordinary qualifying match far surpassed those in higher ranks.

Before the match, who would have imagined that Alcremie could fight one against three, starting off with Draco Meteor, instantly defeating Exeggutor, heavily injuring Incineroar and Tsareena!

Who said that Alcremie was harmless?

Roger completely forgot about his previous thoughts, gripping the microphone, his voice so excited that he was spitting saliva.

”So exciting! So exciting! The outcome of this battle is truly unexpected! That Alcremie accomplished the feat of one against three, using only one move, Metronome!”

”For three consecutive Metronomes to successfully unleash attack moves, and such powerful ones at that, aside from luck, I believe Alcremie absolutely possesses its own unique understanding and insight!”

”Let’s congratulate player King Wing on defeating the opponents, successfully advancing to the [Super] Rank!”

”Woohoo!”

The audience was ignited with enthusiasm, and people began to loudly chant Naoki’s codename.

”King Wing!”

”King Wing!”

”King Wing!”

The sound was like waves, moving rhythmically, echoing throughout the Royal Dome.

Bathed in this thrilling atmosphere, although Naoki was experiencing this for the first time, he was still able to face it with a calm and composed attitude.

But Alcremie was different.

This was its first time encountering such a situation.

The shouts of people and the colorful ribbons falling on the stage made Alcremie’s vision spin.

It also got excited.

”Ma-Ma!”

Alcremie turned to look at Naoki, its eyes filled with proud light.

That demeanor, it seemed to be asking Naoki, wasn’t it amazing?

Naoki smiled and nodded, generously praising, ”Great job!”

”Ma-Ma!”

”Today’s match was definitely worth coming to! Very nice, worth the ticket price!”

”It’s incredible, that Alcremie used one Metronome to defeat three opponents, I’ve only seen Trainers use this move in Glamorous Contests!”

”That player King Wing is interesting! I’m a fan!”

”King Wing... I really want to know when his next match will be, will he send Alcremie to battle again? It feels like that super sci-fi railgun move Alcremie used last, even Trainers in the Master Rank might not be able to handle it.”

”I really want to see that scene!”

In a café in front of the Royal Dome, several spectators who had just watched the match were enthusiastically discussing the match’s content.

Someone even made a GIF out of the battle screenshots and posted it on the Pokemon Forum, tagging the renowned researcher Professor Oak in the Pokemon Research Realm, asking him what those unseen moves were.

Meanwhile, in the Royal Dome’s player channel, Naoki, having changed back into regular clothes, was registering information with the receptionist Vivian.

”Congratulations, player King Wing, you have successfully advanced to the [Super] Rank, and now you can start challenging opponents in the Super Rank.”

”Just like in the [Normal] Rank, when you accumulate enough points, we will prepare a qualifying match for promotions to the [Advanced] Rank, at that time, you can advance to even higher level competitions.”

”Additionally, here is your prize money for this match, please accept it.”

Vivian handed over a stack of cash.

Naoki glanced at it, with his current fame, winning a Royal Battle could earn him at most three or four thousand League coins, totaling less than twenty thousand across several matches.

Compared to the income from his ranch, it pales in comparison.

But Naoki wasn’t disdainful, he happily accepted it, planning to take it back to buy some local Alola treats, Malasada, for Koraidon to enjoy.

Before leaving the Royal Dome, Naoki checked his current ranking using his Rotom Phone.

[Player Codename: King Wing]

Rank: Super

Points: 0 (10 points needed to advance to Advanced Rank)

Ranking: 1568]

Eh? The number of players in the Super Rank seems to be several times that of the Normal Rank?

No wonder the Normal Rank was full of Shorts Kids, those inexperienced new Trainers...

Turns out, the capable ones have all moved to the Super Rank!

Recalling the match just now, Naoki noticed that compared to the Normal Rank which was mostly kids battling, the Super Rank’s match audience seats weren’t full, but the number of spectators had noticeably increased.

Correspondingly, the opponents’ skills had also risen significantly.

But nothing will be a problem, he can handle it all, even with Professor Kukui, he has a fighting chance.

”Sign me up for the next match.” Naoki said directly.

”Eh? So soon?” Vivian was a bit surprised, ”Don’t you need to rest for a bit?”

”No need.” Naoki couldn’t wait to reach the Master Rank within a day and obtain the Proof of the Pilgrimage to the Islands.

”Alright then, I’ll arrange it for you.” With that, Vivian quickly operated the computer.

Soon, she matched player King Wing with an opponent for the next match.

”Matched successfully, your next match is at three o’clock this afternoon.” Vivian said.
