Not Being a Trainer This Time

”Finally arrived at Porto Marinada Town. According to the Paldea Academy students, the Naoki Ranch should be in this place, right?”

The contrarian Snivy, originally named John, after much traveling, finally reached his destination.

This is a bustling and prosperous seaside town, with bustling pedestrians on the streets and various souvenirs and gifts being sold along the sidewalks.

As John walked down the road, he curiously observed the novel surroundings.

Soon, something behind a glass window caught his attention.

”Huh? Why does this little wood carving look so much like the legendary King of Bountiful Harvests, Calyrex?” John murmured.

Coincidentally, the shop owner came out just then and grinned upon hearing this:

”That’s right! That’s Calyrex! Our Porto Marinada Town is the birthplace of Calyrex culture! Would you like one, tourist? 998 League coins for a Calyrex ornament. It’s okay if you don’t believe; it’s also a great decoration at home!”

”998? That’s quite cheap.” John looked at the exquisite Legendary Pokemon ornament and thought since he was already here, he might as well take a souvenir back!

”Boss, I want this one!”

”Alrighty!”

After straightforwardly paying, John held the Calyrex ornament up to Phone Rotom’s camera:

”Did everyone see it? A Legendary Pokemon ornament. But really, is this Calyrex? That Legendary Pokemon is really popular in this place!”

With that, John saw the images and symbols of Calyrex on the buildings.

This indicated that Calyrex culture was indeed flourishing in this town called Porto Marinada Town.

”Such things are rare in other places!” John said to his live stream audience: ”As far as I know, only Ecruteak City in the Johto Region has a thriving Legendary Pokemon culture.”

Some people were very curious about Calyrex, the Legendary Pokemon.

Immediately, a flurry of comments floated through the live chat.

[If I remember correctly, Calyrex seems to be a Pokemon from the Galar Region, right?]

[That’s right, but unfortunately, it was forgotten by the people there. Now that Calyrex is here, and so many people believe in it, it must be very happy now, right?]

[Alright, streamer, don’t wander around the town anymore, quickly go take a look at that ranch!]

”Okay, okay, I’m heading over right now!” Seeing the viewership beginning to drop, John quickly stated that he would go there immediately.

He found a roadside shop and, after inquiring with the local owner, quickly learned the exact location of the Naoki Ranch.

John hurried in that direction, and after roughly a half-hour journey, a vast ranch finally appeared on the plains ahead.

”Look! There are so many Dragonites in the sky!”

John suddenly noticed that many Dragonites were flying overhead, all carrying matching bags, as if they were performing some kind of work.

What’s going on? Are they Pokemon that have been captured by someone?

John was astonished and couldn’t wait to share this rare scene with his live-streaming audience.

However, next, he saw comments scrolling across the screen.

[What’s so surprising about that?]

[The streamer hasn’t seen the world. I suggest you look up Naoki Ranch; that shop specializes in using Dragonite as delivery couriers for customers.]

[Huh? Could that Naoki and this Naoki be the same person? The internet says there are 23,496 people named Naoki worldwide, but that’s quite the coincidence, isn’t it?]

[But speaking of which, the shop’s products are quite amazing, especially the super effective goat milk! The only pity is that Naoki’s store hours are too random; running a small shop seems to be just his hobby...]

[Hearing you all say that, I am becoming increasingly curious about that person.]

John, too, was extremely curious at this moment.

As everyone knows, Dragonite are incredibly rare and valuable Pokemon, with only a few Trainers able to capture them.

And now, there were so many Dragonites appearing in this location!

If they truly were Pokemon captured by that Naoki, doesn’t that mean the online rumors of a hidden boss are true?!

Realizing this, John widened his eyes and couldn’t help but walk towards the ranch entrance.

What came into view was a neatly managed farm and pasture.

It was morning, with golden sunlight spilling over the ranch, where various Pokemon were leisurely playing.

Sunbathing Gogoat, nectar-collecting Combee, grass-eating Miltank, fluttering Butterfree, and many other Pokemon he had never seen before.

And in front of a stable, a tall and strong man dressed in a blue work uniform, seemingly the Rancher, was pouring a tub of food into the stable trough.

Just then, a red Pokemon sunbathing on the grass noticed him.

Its golden pupils locked onto him in an instant, and John felt as if he was being watched by a fierce Pokemon, sending a chill through his heart.

The live chat audience also saw that Pokemon.

Instantly, the comments were filled with messages.

[???]

[Just what Pokemon is that?]

[So scary with those eyes!]

”Hi?” John froze on the spot, lifted his hand, and waved, trying his best to convey friendliness to that Pokemon.
