Not Being a Trainer This Time

”If you like it, just put it in here!”

Naoki helped Happiny place the Oval Stone into the pouch in front of it.

”As long as you keep wearing it, maybe it won’t be long before you evolve into Chansey. Then you’ll be able to produce big, white, round eggs all by yourself.”

”Puku...”

Upon hearing this, Happiny couldn’t help but imagine that beautiful scene:

White eggs being produced from its pouch, filling the entire house, giving one to Naoki, one to each of the Eevees, one to Ogerpon, one to Alcremie, one to Koraidon, one to Cyclizar...

”Puku~”

Just imagining it felt super happy!

Meanwhile, outside, partner Eevee had finished counting and started searching each room for everyone who was hiding.

When it entered this room, it immediately spotted Happiny standing in front of Naoki.

Partner Eevee rushed over: ”Bui!”

Only then did Happiny realize it was still playing hide-and-seek, and quickly shook its head vigorously, indicating to partner Eevee that it didn’t count this time because Naoki had something to discuss, so it hadn’t hidden properly.

Hearing this, partner Eevee looked at Happiny, then at Naoki beside it.

”Bui?”

Facing Happiny’s pleading eyes, Naoki smiled and nodded: ”That’s right, I have some matters with Happiny.”

”Bui...” Partner Eevee thought seriously for a moment, then nodded: ”Bui!”

Since that’s the case, it would count again!

Relieved, Happiny let out a sigh of relief, and once Eevee left, it immediately started searching for a hiding place.

Naoki didn’t disturb these little ones playing hide-and-seek; he quietly returned to his room and sat at his desk, using the Rotom Phone to look up information about the Pokemon Chansey.

As ”Chansey” was typed in,

soon, a segment of information popped up on the webpage.

[Chansey, Egg Pokemon, the evolution form of Happiny, is said to bring good luck to the person who captures it!

They can lay several eggs a day, which many Pokemon love to eat. The eggs are so delicious that even those without an appetite will eat them in one bite.

In the past, people hunted Chansey everywhere for their nutritious eggs, and after a history of rampant hunting aimed at taking the eggs from their abdomen, the number of Chansey has become very rare!]

Naoki continued scrolling down.

A natural Chansey is kind and gentle. Even wild Chansey will share their nutritious eggs with wounded Pokemon.

The eggs are nutritious and flavorful, thus earning the nickname ”No Need for a Doctor”; in the human culinary world, Chansey’s eggs are used as high-end ingredients.

The way Happiny evolves into Chansey is quite unique.

It needs to carry the Oval Stone constantly, absorbing energy from the stone through growth to evolve into Chansey.

Growth... expressed with game terminology, means leveling up.

After a little consideration, Naoki decided to let Happiny do some simple special training based on its situation.

In the evening, Naoki took Kubfu back from training at the World Tree for the day.

Back at the ranch, Kubfu sat on the couch pondering, as if reflecting on today’s achievements.

”What are you thinking about?” Naoki couldn’t help but ask.

”Bea...” Kubfu scratched its head, then started to vent its recent worries to Naoki.

It’s wondering if its life is a bit too laid-back.

If it could use the time for eating, sleeping, and walking for training at the World Tree, would it achieve better results?

Additionally, its two mentors have been inviting it to stay at the World Tree, so they can guide it anytime, helping it become a stronger Pokemon.

Naoki: ”...”

Groudon and Kyogre are inviting Kubfu to stay at the World Tree for training?

Upon hearing this, Naoki’s first thought was that those two Pokemon were feeling lonely.

After all, they’ve been alone for so many years, encountering a fresh mentee isn’t easy, but they’re too shy to say it directly, so they have to express their thoughts indirectly with guidance training invites.

Naoki thought for a moment before asking: ”What do you think?”

Kubfu hesitated: ”Bea...”

Upon seeing this, Naoki understood.

”Alright! Then just go!” he nodded.

”Bea?”

Just like Ash’s Charizard staying in Charizard Valley for training, Naoki thinks that if Kubfu wants to, it could stay at the World Tree for training too.

After all, the World Tree is right next to the ranch, and they can meet anytime.

This could also help Kubfu strengthen its relationship with Groudon and Kyogre and learn more experiences from them.

Thus, early the next morning, Naoki sent Kubfu to the World Tree like sending a child to boarding school, entrusting it to the care of Teacher Groudon and Teacher Kyogre.

Coincidentally, he would soon be heading to the Alola Region and wouldn’t be able to attend to matters here.

As a token of gratitude, Naoki sent Groudon and Kyogre some dishes as gifts.

”For the time being, stay here and train well!” Before leaving, Naoki patted Kubfu on the head.
