Chapter 244: Chapter 244: Killing Qin Dahai

Despair filled Qin Dahai’s eyes. He stared blankly as Ye Qingchen’s Qingfeng Sword pierced his chest. Until the moment of his death, Qin Dahai’s eyes brimmed with despair and resentment.

Ye Qingchen withdrew his Qingfeng Sword and looked at the lifeless body of Qin Dahai, his expression momentarily dazed.

The green-robed elder stood up, walked over to Qin Dahai’s corpse, and said to Ye Qingchen, ”Young Master, now that he is dead, this old one would like to take his body back.”

Although the green-robed elder detested Qin Dahai, he was, after all, Qin Zhantian’s son. Both out of sentiment and principle, he felt he should be the one to retrieve the body.

Ye Qingchen nodded. Debts are cleared upon death, and he was not the type to desecrate a corpse. He said to the green-robed elder, ”Elder, when you return, please tell Old Master Qin that I had no choice but to kill his son and granddaughter. Qin Xi sent assassins after me multiple times and even came personally to exterminate my Ye Family. More than a decade ago, Qin Dahai abducted my father and sold him as a mine slave! If I, Ye Qingchen, did not avenge such hatred, I would be unworthy of being a son. However, please also assure Old Master Qin that I am willing to pay for their lives with my own!”

Ye Qingchen knew that no matter how despicable Qin Dahai and Qin Xi were, they were still Qin Zhantian’s flesh and blood. And he, in the end, had used the black card from Qin Zhantian to slay his son. No matter what, he owed Qin Zhantian an explanation.

Hearing Ye Qingchen’s words, the green-robed elder nodded in approval. He greatly admired such a bold and responsible attitude. ”Young Master, you could actually return to the capital with me. I believe the Family Head will judge the matter fairly.”

Ye Qingchen shook his head. ”I won’t be going. My father’s fate is still unknown, and I must rescue him first. When I return, I will personally visit Old Master Qin to offer my apologies.”

The green-robed elder sighed, nodded, and then departed with the bodies of Qin Dahai and Qin Xi.

Once the dust had settled, Ye Qingchen could no longer support his weary body and collapsed to the ground. The Supreme Elder rushed over, helped Ye Qingchen up, and asked with concern, ”Qingchen, are you all right?”

Ye Qingchen shook his head. He was merely exhausted and needed to rest. Because he had been consistently taking Spirit Pills, the injuries he sustained had not damaged his foundation. They looked frightening, but they were not serious.

After a brief period of recuperation, Ye Qingchen said to the Supreme Elder, ”Supreme Elder, I must go to the Heavenly Profound Sect to rescue my father.”

The Supreme Elder frowned. He already knew that Ye Changqing was alive, but the Heavenly Profound Sect was a One-star Sect. A One-star Sect might not be much on the continent, but in the Northern Desolate Country, it was like a great mountain weighing on everyone’s mind. Although Ye Qingchen was formidable, to confront the One-Star Heavenly Profound Sect with his strength alone was like throwing an egg against a rock.

Ye Qingchen saw the Supreme Elder’s apprehension and said, ”Supreme Elder, rest assured, I know what I’m doing. We have no grudge against the Heavenly Profound Sect. I’m not going there to cause trouble, but merely to rescue my father under the pretense of ransoming him. There shouldn’t be any major issues.”

The Supreme Elder sighed. ”Qingchen, I know that despite your youth, you are very methodical. However, when facing the Heavenly Profound Sect, I still think you should ask the Qingyun Sect for help. The Qingyun Sect is the top sect in the Northern Desolate Country, after all. With their help, your chances of success will be much higher. Even if you fail, you’ll have a better escape route.”

The Supreme Elder’s words were very sensible, but Ye Qingchen disagreed. ”This is a matter between our Ye Family and the Heavenly Profound Sect. It’s better that the Qingyun Sect not get involved. If this escalates into a conflict between two sects, things will only get bigger and harder to resolve.”

Ye Qingchen understood the Supreme Elder’s good intentions, but the elder didn’t know the truth. Although the ten great sects of the Northern Desolate Country appeared harmonious, they were actually united in appearance but divided in spirit, with fierce underlying competition. The grand contest of the Alchemy Dao alone was enough to reveal the Heavenly Profound Sect’s animosity toward the Qingyun Sect. Besides, Ye Qingchen wasn’t sure if the Qingyun Sect would go to war with the Heavenly Profound Sect over a single disciple like him. It was better to rely on himself than on others. This was his business to handle alone.

The Supreme Elder knew that Ye Qingchen must have his reasons for refusing, so he didn’t press the issue further. He only insisted that Ye Qingchen fully heal his injuries before setting out. After all, he’d waited over a decade; what were a few more days?

Although Ye Qingchen was anxious to rescue his father immediately, he understood his current condition. Going to the Heavenly Profound Sect now would give him no chance of success, so he agreed.

Afterward, the Supreme Elder helped Ye Qingchen back to the Ye Family residence. After consuming a Spirit Pill, Ye Qingchen began his recovery.

After a full day and night of recuperation, Ye Qingchen’s strength and vitality returned to their peak. Ye Changyun had also arranged for a carriage to serve as his transport. This carriage was drawn by two Ragecloud Horses, a breed suited for long-distance travel at incredible speeds. With this carriage, his journey to the Heavenly Profound Sect would be significantly shorter.

The Ragecloud Horses were incredibly valuable, so Ye Changyun must have paid a steep price to procure the carriage.

Ye Qingchen boarded the carriage, turning down Ye Changyun’s offer to accompany him, and sped away from Qingyun Town.

Ye Changyun was anxious about his brother and wanted to help, but with his current strength, he would only be a burden to Ye Qingchen.

「In the capital, within the Rising Sun Pavilion.」

When the green-robed elder laid the bodies of Qin Dahai and Qin Xi before Qin Zhantian, he was filled with apprehension. Even as a high-level Martial Spirit Realm expert, he was extremely cautious in Qin Zhantian’s presence, especially now that Qin Zhantian had not only recovered his peak strength but had even grown stronger.

Qin Zhantian stared at the two bodies on the ground, his face ashen, not uttering a single word.

Qin Yue, holding his arm, wanted to offer some comfort but didn’t know what to say. She could only turn to the green-robed elder and ask, ”Elder Wang, what on earth happened? Please explain everything to Grandfather! And since you were able to bring their bodies back, you must have met the killer. Why are you unharmed? Why didn’t you bring the murderer back?”

Elder Wang sighed. ”Miss Qin Yue, please forgive my incompetence. The killer is named Ye Qingchen, and he possesses a VIP black card from our Rising Sun Pavilion. According to our rules, the black card signifies the Pavilion Master’s presence. Therefore, this old one did not make things difficult for him.”

”What? A black card? Ye Qingchen did this? How is that possible? He’s only in the Martial Master Realm!”
