Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 228: Chapter 228: The Pursuit of a Ninth-Tier Great Martial Master

Teased by Ye Qingchen, Qin Yue laughed through her tears and shyly dodged his hand.

Ye Qingchen was momentarily stunned before he chuckled and said to Qin Yue, ”Even if you escort a friend for a thousand miles, you must eventually part ways. We’ll meet again.”

With that, Ye Qingchen turned and left, leaving Qin Yue to silently watch his retreating figure as she vowed steadfastly in her heart.

Ye Qingchen, I will always be waiting for you!

What neither of them expected was that their intimate moment had been witnessed in its entirety by Qin Xi, who was hidden in the shadows.

Qin Xi was extremely displeased. Her sense of crisis intensified, especially when she recalled hearing Qin Zhantian’s plan to have Ye Qingchen marry into the Qin Family and even hand over the Rising Sun Pavilion to Qin Yue.

Ye Qingchen, you offended me, Qin Xi, and you still hope to use your healing skills to climb the social ladder and marry into my Rising Sun Pavilion? It won’t be that easy! she thought venomously before returning to the Rising Sun Pavilion.

A short while later, an elderly man appeared in Qin Xi’s room. He appeared to be over sixty, but his eyes were vibrant, and his entire body exuded a powerful aura.

The elderly man was bowing respectfully to Qin Xi. ”Miss Qin Xi,” he said, ”for what reason have you summoned this old servant?”

Uncharacteristically, Qin Xi did not treat him with the arrogance she showed other servants. Instead, she offered the elder a rare gesture of respect. ”Elder Yang, I need you to kill someone for me!”

The man, known as Elder Yang, looked surprised. For Miss Qin Xi to want someone dead, and to call upon me to do it... the target must be a formidable expert!

Qin Xi continued, ”This fellow is a disciple of the Qingyun Sect. As for his strength, he should have just advanced to the First Layer of the Grand Martial Master Realm a few days ago. Elder Yang, you are at the Ninth Layer of the Grand Martial Master Realm, so killing him will be effortless. However, you must be careful. He might be returning with other members of the Qingyun Sect, and their Elder Wuji is a Martial Spirit Realm expert, so you must choose your moment carefully. But no matter the cost, this man must die!”

Seeing how serious Qin Xi was, Elder Yang nodded and accepted the task.

Killing a boy at the First Layer of the Grand Martial Master Realm would be as easy as blowing away dust for Elder Yang. The only complication was the other experts from the Qingyun Sect.

But Elder Yang was old and cunning; he naturally had ways to lure the others away. He only needed a few breaths’ worth of time, and that boy at the First Layer of the Grand Martial Master Realm would undoubtedly die!

Qin Xi then handed a portrait of Ye Qingchen to Elder Yang. After studying it, the elder turned and departed.

...

After leaving the capital, Ye Qingchen’s group no longer needed to search for medicinal herbs, so they took the main road back to the Qingyun Sect instead of the small path through the Great Wilderness Mountain Range.

Along the way, Elder Yang quietly trailed the group. Although Ye Qingchen was constantly surrounded by the Qingyun Sect experts, Elder Yang was in no hurry.

As long as I wait, a moment will surely come when Ye Qingchen is alone. That will be the moment of his death!

After several days of travel, Ye Qingchen felt a sudden sense of familiarity with his surroundings and couldn’t help but stop.

”What’s wrong, Qingchen? Why have you stopped?” Vice Pavilion Master Liu asked with concern.

Ye Qingchen looked around, puzzled. ”Vice Pavilion Master Liu, why does this place look so much like the Qingyun Mountain Range?”

Vice Pavilion Master Liu couldn’t help but laugh. ”Look like it? This *is* the Qingyun Mountain Range!”

Ye Qingchen was taken aback. He hadn’t realized their route back to the Qingyun Sect would pass through the Qingyun Mountain Range.

Now that they had reached the Qingyun Mountain Range, Qingyun Town was not far off.

Ye Qingchen hadn’t been home since joining the Qingyun Sect. It didn’t usually bother him, but being so close now, he suddenly had the urge to visit. Moreover, the Qingyun Mountain Range was home to all kinds of Monster Beasts, making it an excellent place to train.

I have nothing urgent to do upon returning to the Qingyun Sect anyway. Why not train for a while in the Qingyun Mountain Range and visit home at the same time?

At this thought, Ye Qingchen quickened his pace to catch up with Pavilion Master Zhang.

”Pavilion Master Zhang, I’d like to train for a while in the Qingyun Mountain Range to improve my strength. And, to be honest, my home isn’t far from here. I’d like to take the opportunity to visit my family’s elders in Qingyun Town.”

Pavilion Master Zhang nodded. Disciples of the Qingyun Sect were permitted to visit their families annually, so Ye Qingchen’s request was perfectly reasonable. Seeing no reason to refuse, he replied, ”Qingchen, training is a good thing, but know your limits. After you’ve visited your family, be sure to return to the Qingyun Sect promptly.”

Ye Qingchen nodded and then bowed deeply to Pavilion Master Zhang. The Pavilion Master had taken great care of him on this journey, and his rapid improvement in Alchemy was in large part thanks to him.

Hearing that Ye Qingchen planned to leave on his own, a worried Vice Pavilion Master Liu advised him, ”Qingchen, the Qingyun Mountain Range is full of Monster Beasts. Although your strength has reached the Grand Martial Master Realm, you must still be cautious.”

Ye Qingchen nodded in acknowledgment. He had felt Vice Pavilion Master Liu’s concern for him most keenly, so he also offered the man a deep bow to express his gratitude.

Li Zongrui shot a sideways glance at Ye Qingchen and said, ”Ye Qingchen, make sure you stay alive. Don’t go getting yourself eaten by some Monster Beast. If you die in the Qingyun Mountain Range, how am I supposed to defeat you with my own two hands?”

Li Zongrui had actually tried his best to make his words sound pleasant. After all, Ye Qingchen’s performance in the Alchemy Dao Competition had made Li Zongrui see him in a new light. But the words that came out of his mouth seemed to have a will of their own, which promptly earned him a smack on the head from Elder Wuji.

Afterward, Elder Wuji also offered a few words of advice. The other alchemists from the Qingyun Sect came up one by one to bid Ye Qingchen farewell as well.

They all understood that if it weren’t for Ye Qingchen, the Qingyun Sect would have suffered a crushing defeat in the Alchemy Dao Competition. Furthermore, Ye Qingchen’s character and strength had earned all of their respect.

After saying his goodbyes to the members of the Qingyun Sect, Ye Qingchen headed deeper into the Qingyun Mountain Range.

He took a moment to get his bearings, then decided to search for suitable Monster Beasts to train with by following the distribution patterns of medicinal herbs.

What Ye Qingchen didn’t know, however, was that a dark figure was following him from a distance.

This shadow was, of course, Elder Yang, sent by Qin Xi to assassinate Ye Qingchen.

After waiting for so long, he had finally found Ye Qingchen alone.

A cruel smile spread across Elder Yang’s face.

This brat is as good as dead!
