Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 233: Chapter 233 Defeating Old Yang

This saved Ye Qingchen a lot of trouble. With that in mind, he leisurely began searching for medicinal herbs while waiting for Elder Yang to arrive. Moreover, whenever he casually killed a Monster Beast, he would build a campfire and enjoy an extra meal.

Another day passed just like that. As Ye Qingchen continuously hunted Monster Beasts, Elder Yang quickly sensed his aura and rushed in his direction.

Elder Yang had his doubts about why Ye Qingchen would be so brazen. But after so many days, he figured that Ye Qingchen had probably already sent for help from the Qingyun Sect. It was even possible that the Sect’s experts were already on their way. If he didn’t eliminate Ye Qingchen soon, it would be impossible to make a move once the people from the Qingyun Sect arrived.

Therefore, no matter what schemes Ye Qingchen might have, Elder Yang had to go immediately and kill him with the force of a thunderbolt.

In reality, Elder Yang was overthinking things. Ye Qingchen hadn’t called for help at all—not because he was arrogant, but because he simply had no Secret Technique to contact the Sect.

When Elder Yang found Ye Qingchen, the young man had just finished eating a Monster Beast. He was burping contentedly and looking at Elder Yang with a calm and leisurely air. What happened to the panic and frantic escape from their last encounter?

”Brat, this day next year will be the anniversary of your death!”

Although Elder Yang was inwardly suspicious, he was infuriated by Ye Qingchen’s reaction. What gives a mere low-level Martial Master the right to be so arrogant? Besides, Elder Yang had already scanned the surroundings on his way there. Finding no ambushes, he had put his mind at ease.

After all, it has only been five days. How much stronger could Ye Qingchen possibly have become?

After speaking, Elder Yang attacked Ye Qingchen with the force of a thunderbolt.

Ye Qingchen had escaped from him twice already. Elder Yang had decided that this time, he would seize the initiative from the very beginning and kill him swiftly. No matter how crafty he is, he won’t escape my grasp again!

But to Elder Yang’s surprise, Ye Qingchen didn’t dodge or evade his attack. Instead, he chose to meet it head-on.

”Picking Leaf Hand!”

Ye Qingchen used the Low-Grade Mysterious Rank Martial Technique, Picking Leaf Hand, which was also his most practiced attack.

I’ve just advanced to the fourth layer of the Martial Master Realm. To advance again, I need to constantly hone my skills. Elder Yang, a Ninth-Layer Martial Master, is the perfect whetstone for me. For this reason, Ye Qingchen didn’t use his full strength at the start. He only used Picking Leaf Hand to gauge the current level of his power.

Ye Qingchen’s attack collided with Elder Yang’s, and each of them retreated two steps.

Elder Yang was shocked. I just used a High-Grade Yellow Rank Martial Technique, but I still couldn’t overpower him in terms of strength. Could it be? Did this kid have another breakthrough in just a few days? How is that possible? It often takes years to advance even a single minor stage in the Martial Master Realm. How could Ye Qingchen leap two stages in just a few days?

Elder Yang suppressed his astonishment and continued his assault. This time, he used a Low-Grade Mysterious Rank Martial Technique—the most powerful one he had mastered.

Facing an Elder Yang who was now using a Mysterious Rank Martial Technique, Ye Qingchen didn’t dare to be careless. He immediately drew his Qingfeng Sword and unleashed Sword Dusting the Wind, slashing toward his opponent.

Boosted by his superior-grade spiritual weapon, the Qingfeng Sword, and using a High-Grade Mysterious Rank Martial Technique, Ye Qingchen’s sword strike sent Elder Yang reeling backward while he himself stood perfectly still.

After two exchanges, Elder Yang was even more horrified. How could I actually be at a disadvantage in a direct clash with him?

Ye Qingchen, however, was now gaining a preliminary understanding of his own strength. The Spiritual Liquid in his body had been endlessly tempered by both the Fen Tian Earth Fire and the Ancient Jade Spiritual Fire. In terms of quality, it was far superior to that of most powerful Martial Masters. Moreover, the Cultivation Technique he practiced was the Divine-Level Godwood Formula. Although it was still incomplete, it was more than enough to support him in fighting above his level. Finally, he had the superior-grade spiritual weapon, the Qingfeng Sword, and various advanced Martial Techniques. With these, he now held an absolute advantage against the Ninth-Layer Martial Master, Elder Yang.

But I can’t get arrogant. Just because I can defeat Elder Yang doesn’t mean I’m invincible in the Martial Master Realm. From the looks of it, Elder Yang is merely a family servant. If I were to face a disciple from a major Sect or a child from a noble family, the outcome might be completely different.

Although Elder Yang was greatly shocked, he convinced himself of another possibility. Ye Qingchen must have used some kind of Secret Technique to suddenly become so powerful. Such Secret Techniques are potent, but they don’t last long. As long as I can hold out, I’ll still be able to kill this brat in the end!

With this thought, Elder Yang resumed his assault on Ye Qingchen.

But Ye Qingchen, who had now grown accustomed to his newfound strength, was no longer willing to waste time.

A Ninth-Layer Martial Master? Perfect. I’ll use you to test the might of an Earth Rank Martial Technique! Ye Qingchen sneered inwardly. His fingers flew through a series of Seal Formulas, and he unleashed the upgraded Leaf Blade Storm.

Countless flying blades formed from Wood-Attribute Spiritual Qi materialized out of thin air, swirling into a tornado that rushed toward Elder Yang. The tornado moved with incredible speed. Sensing the terrifying power contained within it, Elder Yang knew it was already too late to dodge.

The sharpness of each Leaf Blade was no less than that of a Low-Grade Spiritual Artifact. Even with his strength, Elder Yang couldn’t possibly withstand such an overwhelming storm of blades. His body was relentlessly sliced by the Leaf Blades, and a shocking number of bloody gashes appeared all over him.

Watching the effect of his Leaf Blade Storm, Ye Qingchen himself was dumbfounded. So this is the power of an Earth Rank Martial Technique? With Elder Yang at its epicenter, the storm of Leaf Blades covered a ten-meter radius, truly achieving a state where not even a blade of grass survived in their wake.

However, Ye Qingchen also felt his head throb with mental strain. As powerful as Earth Rank Martial Techniques were, the Energy consumption was immense.

But Elder Yang was a Ninth-Layer Martial Master, after all. Though he was now covered in wounds, he had still managed to survive the Leaf Blade Storm.

Gravely injured, Elder Yang looked at Ye Qingchen in terror. Only a single thought remained in his mind: Flee!

Ye Qingchen didn’t immediately press the attack, partly because he had just expended so much energy using an Earth Rank Martial Technique and partly because he wanted to observe its effects. Seizing the opportunity, Elder Yang turned and fled. Pushing his speed as a Ninth-Layer Martial Master to its absolute limit, he rapidly widened the distance between himself and Ye Qingchen.

Ye Qingchen took out a Spirit Pill and swallowed it, recovering the Energy he had just expended. Then, he gave chase in the direction Elder Yang had fled.

You hunted me for so long. Now, it’s finally my turn to hunt you, isn’t it? Ye Qingchen thought with a cold sneer.

Although Elder Yang was seriously injured, his escape speed was by no means slow. After all, he had been searching for Ye Qingchen in this mountain range for a long time and was now incredibly familiar with the terrain. However, when Elder Yang glanced back, he was horrified to find that Ye Qingchen was still in hot pursuit!

After running for a full hour, he still hadn’t managed to shake Ye Qingchen off his tail.
