Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 237: Chapter 237: Defeating Qin Xi

As Ye Qingchen stretched, a series of cracking sounds erupted from his bones. After ten days of arduous cultivation, he had finally reached the fifth layer of the Great Martial Master Realm. Moreover, he calculated that Qin Xi should be arriving in Qingyun Town soon. With this in mind, he walked toward the courtyard entrance.

「...」

Ye Qingchen’s estimate was correct. After receiving Elder Yang’s message, Qin Xi had hurried to Qingyun Town. She was the type of person who, if she decided to act, would see it through with ruthless finality. Having learned from her last experience, Qin Xi wouldn’t be at ease until she saw Ye Qingchen’s corpse with her own eyes. Therefore, just sending an assassin wasn’t enough for her. She had made a special trip to Qingyun Town not only to witness Ye Qingchen’s death firsthand but also to annihilate his family, eradicating them root and stem.

After more than ten days of travel, Qin Xi finally arrived in Qingyun Town. She casually asked a passerby for the location of the Ye Family estate and made her way there.

When Qin Xi arrived at the entrance and saw Elder Yang sitting there leisurely, she felt a wave of relief. If Elder Yang can sit at the Ye Family’s entrance so calmly, he must have already subdued them. In high spirits, she smiled and said to Elder Yang, ”Elder Yang, your contribution this time is significant. I will certainly report this to my father and ensure you are handsomely rewarded.”

However, what puzzled her was that Elder Yang seemed not to have heard her, remaining in the exact same posture. A sudden apprehension struck her. Normally, Elder Yang would stand up to greet me immediately, acting with the utmost respect. It’s impossible for him to just sit there while I speak, let alone ignore me completely. Qin Xi had an ominous premonition but couldn’t quite believe it. She carefully approached Elder Yang’s side, only to discover that he was already devoid of life.

Her face drained of color. She spun around to flee, but Ye Qingchen, having waited for so long, had no intention of letting her escape so easily. In a flash, he appeared before her, blocking her path.

”Impossible! Elder Yang was a peak Ninth Layer Great Martial Master, a capable subordinate my father placed by my side. How could he have died here?” Qin Xi cried out, stumbling back a few steps in horror.

Ye Qingchen regarded her with a cold smirk. ”If you try to assassinate me,” he stated, ”you must be prepared to be killed in return.”

Qin Xi still found it hard to believe. Just a few days ago, Ye Qingchen had been at the Ninth Layer of the Martial Master Realm. Even if he had broken through to the Great Martial Master Realm by some stroke of luck, how could he have grown strong enough in such a short time to kill a peak Ninth Layer Great Martial Master like Elder Yang? Someone must be secretly helping him, someone who stepped in to protect him and kill Elder Yang! This was the conclusion Qin Xi reached.

Hearing her words, Ye Qingchen’s brow twitched as a thought formed in his mind. Since Elder Yang was assigned to Qin Xi by her father, the ’master’ he mentioned must be Qin Xi’s father!

Although it was just a suspicion, the matter concerned his own father. To be cautious and confirm the truth, Ye Qingchen decided he would first subdue Qin Xi and then lure her father here personally. At that time, everything would be revealed. With that thought, he wasted no more words and launched an attack.

As an early-stage Great Martial Master, Qin Xi was no match for Ye Qingchen. After only two moves, she was repeatedly forced back, and that was only because he was deliberately holding back. Otherwise, with her level of strength, Ye Qingchen could have killed her with a single blow.

The longer they fought, the more terrified Qin Xi became. She had never expected Ye Qingchen to be this strong; she was utterly outmatched. Realizing she couldn’t win, she seized an opportunity while dodging an attack and pulled out an inch-long cylinder.

Ye Qingchen frowned at the object. It was the Qin Family’s unique signaling device: the Roaring Heaven Thunder. He recalled that Qin Yue had once given him one, explaining that once activated, it would summon powerful experts from the Qin Family within a radius of several hundred miles for immediate support. Ye Qingchen wasn’t afraid of the Qin Family’s retaliation, but the more people who knew about this, the harder it would be to execute his plan to lure out Qin Xi’s father.

Therefore, the moment Qin Xi produced the Roaring Heaven Thunder, Ye Qingchen used Mystifying Steps, instantly appearing before her and swatting the device from her hand with a palm strike.

Seeing the Roaring Heaven Thunder knocked away, Qin Xi’s last sliver of hope was shattered, and her face turned ashen. She was no match for Ye Qingchen to begin with, and now that her will to fight was gone, he subdued her easily.

Ye Qingchen sealed her meridians with Soul Power, then watched her with a leisurely air.

Though terrified, Qin Xi mustered her courage to threaten him. ”Ye Qingchen, I am the Young Lady of the Qin Family! If you dare to touch me, you will die without a proper burial! Not even the Qingyun Sect will be able to protect you!”

Ye Qingchen chuckled and squatted beside her. Observing her fierce but fearful expression, he lightly caressed her cheek. ”Such a malicious heart for a young girl, but your skin is quite nice. It would be a pity to just kill you,” he said. ”Why don’t you warm my bed for a few months? Once I tire of you, it won’t be too late to kill you then.” After speaking, he burst into laughter.

Of course, he had no such intentions. He was only saying it to provoke her into calling her father for help.

However, Qin Xi was terrified. She had always held a high opinion of herself and her beauty, and she truly believed Ye Qingchen might commit such a vile act. The feeling of his fingers on her face was the last straw. She broke down, crying hysterically as she shrieked, ”Ye Qingchen, you bastard! I will never let you get away with this!”

Seeing that her emotional state had collapsed, Ye Qingchen smiled. ”Not let me get away with it? You’re a fish on the chopping block right now, for me to slice as I please. How exactly will you stop me?”

”My father! My father will avenge me!” she blurted out in desperation.

This was precisely what Ye Qingchen had been waiting for. He replied with an air of mock nonchalance, ”Oh, I’m so scared! But I’ll give you a chance. Go on, send a message to your father. If he can rush here and save you, I might spare you for now.”

Hearing his words, a spark of hope reignited in Qin Xi’s heart. Without thinking it through, she quickly took out her communication device and contacted her father.

At that moment, Qin Xi’s father was transporting goods in the Yanyang Kingdom, which bordered the Northern Desolate Country. Upon receiving his daughter’s message, he flew into a thunderous rage.

How dare he touch my precious daughter! He’s courting death!
