His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1640: Chapter 458: The Beginning and the End (Part 4)_2

He knew that her pretending to be unbothered was just for the elders to see, to put their minds at ease, but secretly, her heart had long been away from him.

Thinking about it, it was really infuriating; Jian Yan, that person, not too heavy or light, yet easily able to make Qin Mu show him a bit of a face.

In the morning, Huanhuan and Chengcheng hadn’t come back either. They were playing happily outside, while Qin Mu stayed in the study, under the guise of drawing, sitting there in a daze.

These unhappy days really didn’t suit this winter.

She got up, walked to the not-so-large window, and stood there looking outside. The snow was still falling, and those two little ones must be playing wildly in it.

This year, Mu Qingxin seemed to have no intention of coming back for the New Year; there hadn’t been any news. Qin Mu suddenly found herself missing Zifeng, that little one, who still somewhat depended on her and liked her.

Close to noon, just when she thought she would have to eat lunch alone at home, Mu Yichen suddenly returned.

Qin Mu heard the housemaid greeting him at the door. Sitting in the dining room, she felt as if she were sitting on pins and needles. She suddenly wanted to leave the dining room, no, leave the house, to avoid meeting him.

But while she was still pondering, he had already walked into the dining room and saw her.

Qin Mu was still angry about last night’s events and didn’t want to look at him at all now, but he seemed to enjoy seeing her angry.

He didn’t like the clothes, so she hadn’t asked him about Jian Yan’s matters again, not knowing if he was still looking into it. Qin Mu suddenly put down her chopsticks: ”I’m going to revise a drawing, take your time eating!”

With just a soft voice, she got up to leave.

Mu Yichen had just picked up his chopsticks, lifted his bowl, and before the rice touched his lips, he heard her words and suddenly let out a light laugh: ”What drawing is so important that you can’t even finish your lunch first?”

Qin Mu looked down at the man as cold as an iceberg, then reluctantly spoke again, weakly: ”What if I say I don’t want to have lunch with you, is that okay?”

During breakfast, Grandpa was home, so they were forced to eat together, which was tolerable, but now with only the two of them at home, why were they still pretending?

”Sit down and finish your meal before you go if you really have a drawing to revise!”

Mu Yichen coldly reminded her, refusing to accept her excuse.

”I just don’t want to eat with you!”

After hearing his words, Qin Mu became even more unhappy, abandoning even pretense, coldly responding before turning to leave.

Mu Yichen...

He clearly felt a chill in his stomach, yet he sat there without chasing after her.

If she didn’t eat, then he would eat by himself.

”Master! Are you really not calling Young Mistress to come for the meal?”

”Hmm!”

Mu Yichen responded, then restrained his temper and finished his lunch alone.

Qin Mu lay on the bed daydreaming, her stomach hurting terribly, but she was unwilling to see him, so she deliberately avoided going downstairs.

Mu Yichen, however, went upstairs after finishing his meal. Qin Mu heard the door open and thought she was mistaken. She turned her head and saw him entering, immediately scrambling up.

”Aren’t you going to work?”

Qin Mu asked, really like a mouse seeing a cat.

”Even though you’re on vacation, do I still have to go to work every day?”

Mu Yichen asked, casually tossing his coat aside and sitting on the edge of the bed.

Qin Mu’s eyes flickered, warily staring at the back of his head, wanting to get off the bed, wanting to escape.

He lay down at her feet, which made Qin Mu’s back instantly stiffen, while he casually lifted his eyes to look at her, then raised his arm: ”Your period has passed, but why do you still look so pale?”

Qin Mu...

His sudden question left her stunned.

”Oh, by the way! Jian Yan still hasn’t been found! Naturally, you’re worried about him, which is why you’re like this.”

Mu Yichen suddenly murmured while looking at the ceiling light, as if not speaking to her but to himself.

”If you don’t like him, you don’t have to mention him!”

Qin Mu said faintly, now extremely annoyed by hearing her master’s name from his mouth because he was clearly repelled by it in his heart.

From lunch till now, her temper had come more evident, and Mu Yichen laughed lightly, then turned and in a blink was face to face with her.

Qin Mu reflexively fell back, then there was a bang.

Her head hit the headboard. Although it was cushioned, it still hurt so much that her world spun.

Mu Yichen naturally noticed this, instinctively raising a hand to touch the back of her head, then frowning at the woman in front of him: ”Does it hurt?”
