His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1611: Chapter 450: Scratches (Part 4)

”Mm!”

Qin Mu agreed, and only after hearing the other side hang up did she put down the phone, unconsciously letting out a scoff, thinking, what’s with you again, my dear President Mu.

——

After work, Helian Hao went to the supermarket, bought the ingredients, and returned to the apartment a bit earlier than Jing Feng.

When Jing Feng came back, he could already smell the aroma from the kitchen. After putting down his briefcase and coat, he headed straight to the kitchen.

His steps were very light, so light that Helian Hao, who was too focused on her kitchen duties, didn’t notice his return.

Jing Feng placed his hands on the bar, watching the busy woman inside, feeling a bit uneasy in his heart. Her sudden enthusiasm for cooking was really unlike her usual self.

Helian Hao finished cooking a dish and, turning to place it on the bar, finally saw him there. Jing Feng smiled lightly, but his smile was a bit stiff because he was too nervous inside.

”When did you get back?”

Helian Hao asked, a bit startled! She didn’t know how long he had been watching from behind, and wondered if being this proactive was a bit too much.

”A few minutes ago. What’s special about today?”

Jing Feng spoke softly, wondering if he might have unintentionally forgotten an important day.

”What day? December 5th?”

Helian Hao thought for a moment and then answered him.

Jing Feng chuckled lightly, ”I’m not talking about the date. Why are you cooking yourself today?”

Jing Feng lowered his head to look at the dishes on the bar, and they seemed quite good.

Helian Hao suddenly didn’t know where to put her hands, instinctively wanting to find a pocket, but she was wearing an apron and couldn’t find one, so she just wiped her hands hard on the apron.

”Uh! I just suddenly felt like cooking!”

Helian Hao thought for a long time and finally came up with an ’acceptable’ excuse.

”Oh!”

Jing Feng didn’t ask further, but he couldn’t help but keep looking at her, noticing her expression was a bit unnatural, not quite sure what was up with her, and just walked over to her side: ”Let me tie the apron for you!”

”Why?”

Helian Hao turned to look at him and asked.

”I’ll do it! You go rest!”

Jing Feng said, already seriously cleaning the pot.

Helian Hao reflexively took off the apron tied around her waist and then helped him put it on.

That was when she suddenly realized she hadn’t really hugged him well in a long time.

Recently...

Jing Feng didn’t immediately sense anything was wrong, but she stood behind him for a long time without moving, forgetting to tie the strap for him.

”Helian Hao, is something on your mind?”

He turned slightly, looking at the woman lost in thought, and asked softly.

Helian Hao raised her eyes but then immediately lowered them, quickly tying the strap for him, then murmuring, while walking out: ”No!”

Jing Feng found himself overly tense by her actions and couldn’t help but ponder for a moment, uncertain how to ask about what was on her mind, thinking, could it be something happening at the hospital again?

Every time something unfortunate occurred in her department, she would become very heavy-hearted.

However, she had never come home to cook like she did today.

Jing Feng finished cooking the remaining dishes, placed them on the dining table, and went to call her for dinner. At that time, she was standing on the balcony in the living room with a cup of water, seemingly enjoying the view. He thought she might be enjoying the view.

Actually, she suddenly didn’t know where to start, about how she no longer wanted to continue the cold war with him.

”Has your office been very busy recently?”

While eating, Helian Hao asked.

”Not too bad! What’s really going on with you?”

Jing Feng’s thinking when it comes to emotions is really quite straightforward.

The atmosphere in the dining room was a bit awkward, and Jing Feng found it hard to endure her persistently melancholy demeanor.

”Nothing! Just making small talk!”

Helian Hao picked up the bowl and started eating vigorously.

Small talk?

Only then did Jing Feng realize that the two of them hadn’t talked properly for some time. He looked up at her again, cleared his throat lightly, and picked up his bowl, eating.

”How was your department today?”

Jing Feng asked.

”Our department was quite peaceful this afternoon; there weren’t many new lives born today, but on my way back after having lunch with Mumu, I ended up saving two people.”

Helian Hao recalled what happened at noon and talked to him with a bit of pride.

Jing Feng looked up: ”Saved two people?”

”There was a car accident, a driver was drunk driving, drove the wrong way, and sent a car from the other lane crashing into the roadside barriers, those protective barriers were bent, and the two drivers were in critical condition.”

Jing Feng listened to her story, knitting his eyebrows tightly.

”Weren’t you scared?”

Jing Feng wanted her to stay away from such incidents, but fearing she would be unhappy, he rephrased his concern.

”Scared of what? Rescuing people at the first moment is the most crucial. I’m planning to further my studies in this area and become a qualified Angel.”

Jing Feng didn’t say anything, but his brows remained tightly knitted. She wants to further her studies?

”What’s wrong? You don’t support me?”

Noticing his poor expression, Helian Hao asked.

”I support you!”

Jing Feng replied softly but regretted it right after. However, given the situation, he was in a weaker position and didn’t dare to contradict her too forcefully.

”Jing Feng!”

She suddenly called out to him, looking at him intently.

Jing Feng picked some food and put it in his bowl, then looked up at her, but his expression remained very serious.

”Let’s make up!”

Helian Hao suddenly said this quite candidly.

Jing Feng...

”It was my fault! We are a couple, I should trust that you can handle things well! I apologize to you!”
