God-Level Special Forces Soldier

Chapter 958: Chapter 954: Official Recruitment

Sugai Yasuaki agreed, then followed Ozawa Miwa and the woman beside her out, and naturally, Xiao Tian followed closely, stepping out of the private room together.

...

Once outside, Xiao Tian found that only Sugai Yasuaki was there, and Ozawa Miwa and the woman had disappeared.

Seeing this scene, Xiao Tian couldn’t help but curiously ask: ”Weren’t you going to escort the royal princess?”

”When I came out, I saw her heading to the corner. It seems she never intended for me to escort her.”

Sugai Yasuaki gave a bitter smile: ”Let’s not talk about this anymore, thank you, Mr. Xiao, for today’s matter.”

Xiao Tian asked with some amusement: ”Thank me? Thank me for what?”

”Thank you for saying what I’ve been wanting to say but never dared to!” Sugai Yasuaki said very earnestly, ”All these years, my uncle and cousin have been targeting my father and me overtly and covertly. This is no different. Like you said, their goal is to ruin the marriage.”

Xiao Tian had no interest in Sugai Yasuaki’s family matters, but he couldn’t help but ask, ”In that case, with your skills, dealing with that father and son shouldn’t be difficult, right?”

”Mr. Xiao overestimates me!” Sugai Yasuaki humbly said, ”After all, blood is thicker than water. My father grew up with my uncle; how could he bear to see me act against his own brother?”

Xiao Tian nodded understandingly: ”So, in fact, the current result is somewhat self-inflicted?”

Sugai Yasuaki nodded helplessly: ”The words may sound harsh, but Mr. Xiao’s statement is relatively accurate, so I’d like to ask you for one more favor.”

Xiao Tian couldn’t help but admire Sugai Yasuaki’s ability to exploit loopholes; in the blink of an eye, an opportunity was seized to make a request.

Seeing that Xiao Tian hadn’t shown any intent to respond after a long time, Sugai Yasuaki had to speak for himself: ”I would like to ask Mr. Xiao to stay and assist me.”

”To help you get rid of your cousin and uncle?” Xiao Tian asked with interest.

Sugai Yasuaki couldn’t help but laugh: ”With Mr. Xiao’s ability, resorting to such measures would be rather excessive!”

”Moreover, with Mr. Xiao’s intelligence, you should already guess what I mean.”

Xiao Tian certainly understood Sugai Yasuaki’s intent; this was evident from the latter’s current predicament.

Marrying the royal princess Ozawa Miwa was beneficial for both the Mizuno Clan and the Japanese royal family, and there was nothing to say for Sugai Yasuaki and his father.

It’s safe to say that the Mizuno Clan elders were all awaiting an opportunity; should Sugai Yasuaki and his father slip up slightly, they would be attacked en masse.

Even if Sugai Yasuaki’s uncle was this way, others would harbor even more malice, only without expressing it as openly as Sugai Kifumi and his son!

In such a situation, Sugai Yasuaki must seize every potential ally, drawing them to his side.

And whether it’s Xiao Tian’s personal strength or his quick mind, there’s no doubt he’s an ideal choice, so it’s only natural for Sugai Yasuaki to have such thoughts!

However, Sugai Yasuaki also had self-awareness, understanding that someone like Xiao Tian wasn’t easily swayed by money, beauty, or personal charisma.

If he wished to recruit Xiao Tian, he had to show utmost sincerity and be prepared for the latter’s hefty demands.

This was Sugai Yasuaki’s realization after several interactions with Xiao Tian.

Yet, even so, Sugai Yasuaki couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy.

In truth, he wasn’t afraid of Xiao Tian making impossible demands to scare him away.

What he feared was Xiao Tian not speaking at all, rendering him powerless, much like punching cotton with all his might, having no effect.

...

Elsewhere, Xiao Tian, after receiving Sugai Yasuaki’s formal offer, did feel somewhat tempted.

To him, the Mizuno Clan certainly wasn’t likable, as they had opposed each other several times before.

Upon learning of Xiao Tian’s sharp decline in strength, they had even dispatched many experts to besiege him, fostering deep enmity.

If he could seize this opportunity to infiltrate the Mizuno Clan through Sugai Yasuaki, Xiao Tian was confident he could turn it upside down, if not seriously weaken it!

But the issue still lay with the timing, if it weren’t for the matter with Ghost Face, Xiao Tian might have genuinely accepted, staying by Sugai Yasuaki’s side, living out a real-life espionage scenario.

Yet, the problem was that the Ghost Face matter was urgent; the longer it dragged on, the greater the risks.

After pondering for a long time, Xiao Tian gave a middling response: ”Let me think it over and I’ll get back to you once I’ve decided.”

At least for now, offending Sugai Yasuaki clearly wasn’t wise, yet agreeing might bring unforeseen troubles.

A vague response was the only way to defuse the current situation, albeit temporarily.

Unless Xiao Tian could quietly escape the hotel, he wouldn’t have a chance to avoid Sugai Yasuaki.

Upon hearing Xiao Tian’s reply, Sugai Yasuaki showed a very disappointed expression: ”Alright, Mr. Xiao, please keep this matter in mind, and if you have any conditions, feel free to state them!”

——

”You mean Sugai Yasuaki wants to recruit you?!” Adison Claire couldn’t help but open her mouth wide, incredulously asking.

Adison Claire couldn’t believe the turn of events; Sugai Yasuaki wanting to recruit Xiao Tian? The change was a bit too quick!

Xiao Tian nodded seriously with a serious expression: ”I’m so distinguished, it’s normal and understandable for Sugai Yasuaki to want to have me on his side.”

Adison Claire immediately looked exasperated, having never seen someone so self-assured without a hint of embarrassment.

After the joking, Xiao Tian said sternly: ”That’s the situation. Our chances of leaving quietly are slim. Do you have any other thoughts?”

Upon hearing Xiao Tian’s question, Adison Claire also frowned and murmured to herself: ”At this point, we probably can’t make the morning’s ship tomorrow.”

”That’s not the issue; if we want to go, there will always be a ship.” Xiao Tian pointed out the key: ”The issue is how we get out. Once we’re out, everything is negotiable; without escaping, thinking more won’t help.”

”Right!” Adison Claire agreed quickly and then fell into thought.

A moment later, Adison Claire tentatively suggested: ”Isn’t Sugai Yasuaki inviting you to the wedding in three days? With all the people, maybe we can slip away amid the chaos.”

Xiao Tian lowered his eyelids, thought seriously for a while, then shook his head and replied, ”I’m afraid not.”
