Chapter 955: Chapter 951: Nowhere to Run

Sugai Yasuaki showed an apologetic smile and then said, ”Mr. Xiao might not know, but I presume you have heard of the Mizuno Clan? My father is a minor leader in the Mizuno Clan, so investigating a person isn’t troublesome.”

”Of course, I only checked Mr. Xiao’s name and didn’t meddle in anything else.” Sugai Yasuaki apologized, ”Please don’t hold it against me, Mr. Xiao.”

Xiao Tian naturally didn’t believe Sugai Yasuaki’s lies. The latter’s way of speaking suggested he had some understanding of him, or perhaps Xiao Erren, which couldn’t have been achieved just by checking a name as Sugai Yasuaki claimed.

Still, Xiao Tian knew there was no point in dwelling on it, so he changed the topic: ”I remember the invitation stated the date is three days from now. Mr. Sugai, arriving so early, there must be something else, right?”

However, Sugai Yasuaki shook his head, ”Mr. Xiao, you misunderstood. I’m here precisely for the wedding three days later, specifically to invite you both to the hotel hosting the VIP guests. If you have any arrangements to make, feel free to let me know.”

”Isn’t it a bit early to go now?” Xiao Tian chuckled softly, ”We can go there by ourselves when the time comes; no need to trouble you, Mr. Sugai.”

Saying this, he reached to open the car door, but halfway there, Sugai Yasuaki stopped him.

”Mr. Xiao, what are you talking about? We became acquainted not from nothing, and I feel at first meeting like I’ve known you for a long time. Please, don’t be so courteous!” Sugai Yasuaki said with ease.

Seeing this, Xiao Tian could discern Sugai Yasuaki’s determination not to give up until he achieved his goal. He had no choice but to follow him to the so-called hotel for entertaining VIPs, at least to get out of his sight first before making any plans.

About to return to Huaxia soon, Xiao Tian didn’t want any incidents at this point.

...

The car stopped at a luxurious hotel far superior in both size and decor compared to the previous small hotel. After the three got out of the car, Sugai Yasuaki looked at Xiao Tian and asked, ”How is it? Are you satisfied with this place, Mr. Xiao?”

Xiao Tian nodded calmly but secretly surveyed the surroundings in brief. Even with this cursory glance, he noticed many people with walkie-talkies patrolling each floor.

Moreover, ever since Sugai Yasuaki got out of the car, Xiao Tian sensed that they were being monitored from all directions by at least ten experts. Any abnormal moves would be met with immediate, swift retaliation.

”The room is ready for both of you, please this way.” Sugai Yasuaki gestured invitingly and then stepped forward slightly, leading Xiao Tian and Adison Claire inside the hotel.

Upon entering the first-floor lobby, Xiao Tian quickly scanned the crowd and noticed everyone dressed in fashionable attire, including several celebrities from various fields. They greeted Sugai Yasuaki warmly upon seeing him.

Sugai Yasuaki adeptly responded to each salutation, maintaining everyone’s respect—it seemed he was very familiar with this routine!

But that was to be expected. As the son of a high-ranking Mizuno Clan member, it would be unusual if he wasn’t well-versed in social etiquette.

Upon reaching the room arranged by Sugai Yasuaki, Xiao Tian found the decor quite impressive, and the facilities were all-inclusive. However, there was only one bed, which, although more than spacious enough to accommodate three people, obviously misunderstood Xiao Tian and Adison Claire’s relationship.

Adison Claire exchanged a glance with Xiao Tian and, seeing him shaking his head, chose to remain silent.

According to Xiao Tian’s plan, they would just wait for Sugai Yasuaki to leave and then he would take Adison Claire away from here, heading directly to the dock, ready to depart by morning.

However, at this moment, Sugai Yasuaki suddenly turned around, forcing a smile at Xiao Tian, ”Mr. Xiao, I have a banquet at noon today, and I would be honored if you could attend.”

Xiao Tian thought it over and, finding it feasible time-wise, nodded in agreement.

”Then it’s settled!” Sugai Yasuaki seemed pleased as he exited the room.

As soon as the door closed, Adison Claire was about to speak, but Xiao Tian gestured for silence and began thoroughly searching the room, examining the ceiling, under the bed, and various corners.

To Sugai Yasuaki’s credit, he hadn’t used any sleazy tactics—there were no hidden cameras or bugs in the room.

Of course, maybe Sugai Yasuaki knew Xiao Tian would detect them, so he didn’t install those things.

”What do we do now?” Adison Claire, caught off guard by the situation, felt somewhat anxious and at a loss.

Xiao Tian moved to the bay window, opened the curtain a tiny crack, observed carefully for a while, and then sighed, ”It seems escaping won’t be that easy.”

It wasn’t as if the six-floor height posed a problem; Xiao Tian was confident he could safely get Adison Claire and even a couple more people to the ground.

The main issue was the surrounding layers of security—constant overlapping patrols left no blind spots, making it possible to instantly detect anyone entering or exiting.

As for leaving through the hotel’s main entrance, it wasn’t even considered by Xiao Tian or Adison Claire.

If Sugai Yasuaki could bring them in, it would clearly not be easily done to leave or slip away unseen.

...

Time ticked slowly by as Xiao Tian came up with several plans, all of which he rejected. Whoever devised the security measures was indeed talented, employing a ruthless approach that would rather overreact than let anything slip by.

Judging by the level of coordination and detail, it wasn’t the work of a single person, adding more unpredictability.

Couple that with the Mizuno Clan and Japanese royal family’s exhaustive manpower deployment, it wasn’t an exaggeration to say not even a fly could buzz in or out unnoticed!

This meant the usual tactic of eliminating a guard to break through a line of defense was entirely futile because killing one would alert the others, setting off a chain reaction.

If Xiao Tian were alone, he might just fight his way out and flee, but with Adison Claire in tow, it wasn’t so straightforward.

Only with overwhelming superiority could they safely escape, and clearly, Xiao Tian didn’t possess that level of strength at the moment.

Adison Claire wore a grave expression while Xiao Tian brooded in contemplation when suddenly there was a knock at the door. The two exchanged glances; the former put on sunglasses and a mask, while the latter crumpled a piece of white paper and stuffed it into his pocket.

Opening the door, it was none other than Sugai Yasuaki, greeting with a beaming smile.
