Chapter 956: Chapter 952: Temporary Bodyguard

”Mr. Xiao, would you please come with me to the banquet?” Sugai Yasuaki spoke, then glanced at Adison Claire nearby: ”Oh, Miss, don’t worry, a sumptuous lunch will be delivered to your room soon.”

Xiao Tian glanced at Adison Claire, nodded, and knew that hiding was definitely out of the question; he had to go with Sugai Yasuaki.

Sugai Yasuaki led Xiao Tian through the hotel corridors. As they reached the corner, he suddenly stopped, and somewhat awkwardly said, ”I have an unusual request to ask of Mr. Xiao, you might feel a little aggrieved later.”

Xiao Tian’s gaze changed, his brows could not help but furrow: ”Tell me what this is all about.”

”Actually, it’s nothing much. My bodyguard has some urgent matters, so I would appreciate it if Mr. Xiao could temporarily act as my bodyguard during the meal,” Sugai Yasuaki said, fearing Xiao Tian might decline, and immediately took out a bank card: ”There’s half a million US Dollars in this, consider it your service fee.”

”Please don’t misunderstand. I know you are not short of money; this is just a token of my appreciation.”

Honestly speaking, Sugai Yasuaki’s attitude made it hard to feel any aversion, but Xiao Tian still felt a bit uncomfortable. If a lady was asking him to temporarily act as her bodyguard, it would be understandable, but the one asking was a man.

Moreover, Sugai Yasuaki, being the kind of person he is, surely wouldn’t have just one bodyguard; even if something happens, it wouldn’t be that all of them have issues simultaneously.

So it’s quite clear, Sugai Yasuaki was doing this deliberately, but the reasons were still unknown.

For a moment, Xiao Tian found himself in a dilemma, should he agree or not?

After a while, Xiao Tian steeled himself; since he was now acting as Xiao Erren, not using his real identity, he decided to accept.

Sugai Yasuaki saw Xiao Tian nod in agreement and was overwhelmed with joy, constantly saying thank you, as he quickly slipped the bank card into Xiao Tian’s pocket without further ado.

In a short time, the two arrived outside a luxurious private room. Sugai Yasuaki stopped and nodded to Xiao Tian, then the two attendants outside the room opened the door, revealing the people inside.

However, when Xiao Tian saw a corner, his gaze couldn’t move away.

There sat a petite figure, a girl with a face as delicate as a porcelain doll, with two ponytails tied behind her head, dressed in a light pink dress, looking extremely cute. It was none other than Ozawa Miwa!

Beside her, a dignified and stately woman sat next to her, occasionally whispering something in her ear, as if guiding her.

Seeing Sugai Yasuaki enter, the expression on Ozawa Miwa’s face, which originally showed no emotion, finally changed slightly but not in a positive way.

”Your Highness the Princess...”

The woman beside Ozawa Miwa quickly reminded her, then showed an apologetic smile to Sugai Yasuaki: ”Her Highness the Princess didn’t rest well last night. Please excuse her.”

Sugai Yasuaki smiled and nodded to the woman, then walked directly to Ozawa Miwa, complimented, ”You look very beautiful today!”

”Thank you!” Ozawa Miwa still seemed downcast, responding out of basic courtesy.

After exchanging pleasantries, everyone laughed and took their seats. Xiao Tian, adhering to his role as bodyguard, stood behind Sugai Yasuaki, and Ozawa Miwa’s seat was right next to him.

Soon, a middle-aged man with seven or eight parts resembling Sugai Yasuaki raised his glass and stood up, saying: ”In three days, my son Sugai Yasuaki and Her Highness the Princess will be married. As a father, I’m happy for him and proud that he can marry the princess!”

”I offer this glass to everyone. Now we will be one family!”

After speaking, he raised his glass and drank it all.

Everyone else picked up their glasses and drank them down, creating a lively scene where hosts and guests were enjoying themselves.

However, the next moment, the person who raised the glass earlier noticed, frowned, and said: ”Why hasn’t Her Highness the Princess moved her glass?”

The woman beside Ozawa Miwa stood up to mediate: ”Her Highness the Princess has always had a low alcohol tolerance, so tea should substitute for wine...” As she spoke, she picked up the teapot, ready to replace the wine in Ozawa Miwa’s cup with tea.

But before the woman could finish, the slender man stretched out his hand to stop her: ”Hold on!”

The woman paused and looked at the person who stopped her. She heard him speak again: ”Our Mizuno Clan has a vast business empire, and occasions like this will be frequent in the future, so it’s best to get accustomed early.”

While speaking, Xiao Tian’s gaze remained fixed on Ozawa Miwa, who kept her head down, her expression unchanged like a sculpture, as if she were a puppet needing guidance from the woman beside her.

Xiao Tian vividly remembered that when he and Yu Ningxue first saw her, Ozawa Miwa, the young princess, was quite lively and spirited, starkly different from her current lifeless state.

This great contrast raised doubts about Ozawa Miwa’s attitude towards this marriage; it might not be as agreeable to her.

The woman showed a helpless expression and said to Ozawa Miwa next to her: ”Your Highness the Princess, how about following Mr. Sugai Kifumi’s suggestion and drink half a cup first?”

The slender middle-aged man known as Sugai Kifumi became somewhat dissatisfied but was restrained by the middle-aged man next to him, Sugai Yasuaki’s father, and had to sit back temporarily.

Ozawa Miwa nodded, then picked up the glass in front of her, but it was intercepted midway by Sugai Yasuaki next to her.

Sugai Yasuaki’s action caught everyone’s attention, as he rose from his seat with a gentle smile and said, ”Her Highness the Princess cannot handle alcohol, so I will drink on her behalf.”

He spoke, not waiting for anyone else to respond, and had already consumed the wine from the glass, then gently looked at Ozawa Miwa, who had her head lowered.

The next moment, a handsome young man looked at Sugai Yasuaki and sarcastically said: ”Cousin has already drunk on behalf of his future wife, so can we family members also ask him to drink for us? I’m not good with alcohol either, please drink all my upcoming drinks for me, cousin.”

Sugai Yasuaki squinted his eyes and retorted: ”Sure, as long as you admit you’re a woman, I can drink all your life’s liquor for you!”

”Don’t be mad, cousin. I was just joking,” the young man resentfully glanced at Sugai Yasuaki but then quickly shifted his gaze.

Sugai Kifumi frowned and said: ”Koosuke, don’t you think that’s a bit too harsh? Your cousin was only joking with you.”

”Uncle, that’s a misunderstanding,” Sugai Yasuaki said with a laugh: ”I was just joking too!”

”Joking?!” Sugai Kifumi’s gaze changed: ”I truly didn’t hear that.”
