Chapter 34: Chapter 32: Life-and-Death Pursuit

It was apparent the robbers had deduced Xiao Tian’s identity, aiming to lure him into overtaking, preparing to ambush the Chevrolet.

However, Xiao Tian remained undaunted, even rather pleased with their plan.

Inside the Chevrolet, Xiao Tian flashed a grin, and slammed the accelerator hard down.

Vroom——

The speed was cranked up by Xiao Tian, making the Chevrolet swiftly overtake.

Inside the SUV, the men in black thought Xiao Tian had fallen for their trap, showing vicious smiles, ”Kid, come to meet your end, hahaha...”

Yet, the very next second, their vicious smiles froze abruptly.

They saw the Chevrolet, which was speeding by, suddenly perform a dragon tail sweep, hitting their SUV directly.

The surging recoil seemed to burst through the chassis, going straight at the Heizi-driving man in black, shocking him into a yell, ”Not good!”

He hurriedly steered, but was still a step too late.

”Bang!”

The SUV was hit solidly by the tail of the Chevrolet, its front swerving, directly rushing towards the deep ditch beside the road.

Screech——

A piercing sound of emergency brakes.

But it was of no avail; the Chevrolet’s formidable momentum dealt the SUV a ruthless blow.

Inside the car, the occupants endured a severe jolt, the men in black were thrown in disarray, frantically grabbing whatever they could.

”Damn it! Lao Wu! How did we get hit!!” the man in black in the passenger seat shouted angrily.

”Damn, I don’t know either! This kid seemed to know our plan!”

”Damn it! Lao Wu, we’re going to fall, quickly correct the car!!”

”Oh mom, the car is going to fall! Help!”

”Lao Ba, don’t make random moves or we’ll fall!!”

The SUV eventually jutted out half its body, hanging beside the road.

In the car, the men in black who just moments ago were arrogantly seeking Xiao Tian’s demise, were now clinging to the SUV in fear, not daring to move.

From their conversation, Xiao Tian already ascertained that the boss wasn’t inside this SUV, and the items couldn’t be on them.

Following the recent dash, Xiao Tian had spotted the leading SUV, certain that the items must be in that vehicle.

With that thought, the Chevrolet didn’t pause for a moment, rushing ahead at lightning speed, targeting the leading SUV.

Meanwhile, the other SUV ahead, having witnessed Xiao Tian’s earlier maneuver, cursed, ”Damn, Lao Wu got smacked aside by the cop!”

”Damn it, kill that cop!”

”Smash him!”

...

Once the SUV separated from the one behind, it wasn’t far, and as soon as the Chevrolet completed overtaking, it suddenly swerved fiercely towards the Chevrolet.

The SUV towered over half a section of the Chevrolet, Xiao Tian felt a shadow looming ahead, and an intense pressure surge towards him.

Yet, he didn’t even flinch, as if he had anticipated the SUV’s trajectory, slightly adjusting the direction and pressing the accelerator.

Vroom——

The Chevrolet deftly swerved aside, just rightly hugging the mountainside, and sped past like lightning.

The SUV missed its target, the Heizi-driving man inside shouted gloomily, ”Damn! How is this cop driving so well!”

”Third Brother, don’t worry, Big Brother will intercept him ahead!”

Indeed, after narrowly evading this SUV, while clinging to the mountainside, the Chevrolet wasn’t finished yet.

The leading SUV suddenly appeared ahead, catching them off guard.

This time it came even faster, almost without warning, Xiao Tian felt the shadow looming again.

Vroom——

Heading straight for the Chevrolet.

At this moment, the Chevrolet was almost cornered, with sinister laughs echoing from both SUVs occupied by men in black.

Yet, the very next second, their laughter froze again.

Screech——

The Chevrolet reacted swiftly with an emergency brake.

Such a sudden brake caused the Chevrolet to lift half its body off the ground, but under Xiao Tian’s control, it remained stable.

Vroom——

Simultaneously executing a lateral drift, perfectly sidestepping the obstacles.

Xiao Tian seemed like he had activated cheats, within minutes of appearing on the scene, his maneuvers ranged from overtaking, tail drift, to serpent weaving, swift as lightning, with speed not only unimpaired but increasingly faster.

On this steep, narrow, road termed as ”Death Road,” he raced freely, several times leaving behind the SUVs attempting to crash him, gradually extending the gap, moving forward at top speed, leaving a trail of illusion in his wake.

Such dazzling driving skills were akin to effects seen in racing blockbusters, astonishing those watching from afar, erupting in cries and cheers.

Among the spectators were retired drivers from international races, observing the ordinary Chevrolet being controlled so artistically by Xiao Tian, they couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration.

”Oh my, am I seeing things? Who is this guy? Could it be Fujiwara Takumi running out from the movies?!”

”Damn, that’s amazing! So cool!!”

”When this guy returns, I must become his disciple!”

”Discipleship +1”

”+1”

...The praise continued without end.

Even the two off-road vehicles left in the dust by Xiao Tian, driven by a man in black who always prided himself on being a top-notch driver, couldn’t help but angrily slap the steering wheel and shout, ”Damn it, how can this cop drive so well!”

The owner of the Chevrolet, a slender young man, stared incredulously at the Chevrolet on the track and muttered to himself, ”Is that my car?”

Nie Lan also never imagined that an old car, in Xiao Tian’s hands, could deliver such an extraordinary performance beyond its limits.

The initial resentment towards Xiao Tian for choosing a car at random had long dissipated, and a wide grin was on her face, ”This rascal is actually quite handsome!”

Now the championship and the money were both theirs.

Suddenly noticing a little punk girl beside her who was equally shocked, she walked over with a full smile, gently raised an eyebrow, and asked, ”How about it, little punk girl, do you accept it?”

The little punk girl huffed, wanting to stubbornly say she didn’t accept it, but Xiao Tian’s displayed driving skills were just too impressive. In their circles, possessing such extraordinary driving skills commands respect. She had already been conquered in her heart and couldn’t say a word.

Seeing the little punk girl’s reaction, Nie Lan smiled contentedly and continued to cheer loudly for Xiao Tian from afar.

However, Nie Lan quickly noticed something was off. The two off-road vehicles and Xiao Tian’s Chevrolet in her line of sight didn’t seem to be racing but were instead locked in a head-on confrontation.

While collisions are common on the race track, the three vehicles were relentlessly pursuing each other, especially the off-road vehicles, seeming intent on driving the Chevrolet to its end.

Though Xiao Tian skillfully navigated using advanced techniques with little risk involved, the upcoming road section made Nie Lan most worried.

These clueless spectators merely thought it was a high-speed race, but Xiao Tian remained focused, undistracted by the cheering or his own worries.

He hadn’t forgotten; he was here to retrieve important data.

However, the current scenario was odd, with the chasing Chevrolet ahead and the fleeing off-road vehicles tirelessly pursuing from behind.

Xiao Tian glanced indifferently at the somewhat frustrated off-road vehicles in the rearview mirror and smiled faintly. He was waiting for the right moment.

In a flurry of high-speed driving, the three racing vehicles swiftly approached the mountain pass death track, the most challenging road section.

——Hairpin Turn!

The site once claimed countless drivers and racers, ranked as the most dangerous road section in Shanghai!

However, the most treacherous part was due to visual obstructions. Those unfamiliar with this road section wouldn’t know that ahead of the curve lies a continuous stretch of hairpin turns extending over several kilometers.

——Continuous Switchbacks!

This is precisely why this road is dubbed the ”Death Track.”

Approaching closer and closer.

In the distance, Nie Lan saw the Chevrolet maintaining its speed, anxiously stomping her foot, ”Why isn’t this rascal slowing down!”

Taking the corner at full speed is almost impossible.

Even the other spectators were puzzled, wondering if the Chevrolet driver was showing off recklessly.

Suddenly, Nie Lan slapped her forehead, ”Oh no, in the rush, I didn’t introduce him to the road conditions.”

With a deadly hairpin ahead and a menacing off-road vehicle behind, Nie Lan sensed Xiao Tian was in great danger.

The other spectators held their breath as well.

This death-defying road segment; would the Chevrolet end up in the bottom of a ditch or continue on its miraculous, breathtaking display!

Vroom——

The Chevrolet entered the turn at full speed.

Screech——

The Chevrolet began braking, preparing to drift.

The front of the car glided perfectly through the curve, while the rear merely brushed against the stone steps for support, poised to complete the turn.

He actually managed to drift around the corner at full speed!

This provoked a renewed wave of shock and awe from the distant spectators. They truly witnessed the breathtaking driving skills usually seen only in movies!

However, amidst the joy, Nie Lan raised her voice nervously.

Since during the drift, the Chevrolet would have a momentary stop at the curve’s apex.

That paused moment was perilous.

In the trailing off-road vehicle, driven by yet another top-notch driver, though unable to take the turn at full speed, after several continuous switchbacks.

They seized the fleeting pause of the Chevrolet.

One of the off-road vehicles abruptly accelerated, charging straight for the Chevrolet that hadn’t finished the turn!

No escape.

If the lightweight Chevrolet were struck by the ferocious off-road vehicle, the outcome was conceivable!

Nie Lan gasped in shock and screamed, ”Rascal, danger!!”

Other spectators also noticed this situation and widened their eyes, exclaiming, ”This is the end!”

Inside the off-road vehicle, the man in black revealed a cruel smile, ”Damn cop, there’s a path to heaven but you don’t take it, no gate to hell and you barge in! I’m sending you off today!”

Bang! Thump!——

The intense sound of the crash pierced into the ears of the spectators, roaring loudly.

Soon, thick smoke and fire rose from the mountainside, spreading across the entire hill.

With such intense noise and smoke, there was no doubt that the car was totaled, and lives were lost!

On the hill, the crowd shook their heads, sighing, ”Alas, coolness doesn’t last three seconds!”

”Yes, such a shame to encounter a character akin to a Car God, only to lose them so soon!”

”My master~”

”Let’s go, let’s go, nothing more to see!”

Just as the crowd was begrudgingly preparing to leave, someone exclaimed in surprise, pointing into the distance, ”Look down there!”

The crowd turned, following the person’s gesture and gazed.

They saw a vehicle slowly driving out from within the thick smoke.

Chevrolet!!!
