Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

This left Lu Li feeling very disappointed, and he wasn’t ready to continue searching for black holes for observation.

But just as the thought of giving up observation began to form, he happened to encounter a peculiar black hole.

Black holes can be described as the ”super gluttons” of the Cosmos.

Theoretically, black holes have the ability to ”consume” any matter in the Cosmos, light included.

However, Lu Li, forty-three thousand light-years away from the solar system, encountered a black hole just finishing its ”meal” and currently ”swallowing.”

Stars are a common type of celestial body in the Cosmos and one of the many ”food” sources for black holes, but black holes don’t ”eat” stars all at once as might be imagined; it’s a process.

When a star is too close to a black hole, it gets captured by the black hole’s gravity.

After that, the tidal force generated by the black hole gradually stretches and flattens the star, eventually tearing it into pieces, which then spiral towards the black hole.

Due to the conservation of angular momentum, the movement speed of the stellar fragments becomes faster and denser.

Eventually, this material forms a rapidly rotating disk-like structure in the vicinity of the black hole.

This is the ”plate” used by the black hole when ”eating” — the ”accretion disk.”

The material within the ”accretion disk” typically approaches the speed of light.

The material has already been torn into subatomic particles.

Because there is a variation in their speeds, intense friction and collision occur between them, producing extremely high temperatures and releasing a large amount of electromagnetic radiation, which can be observed by us from billions of light-years away.

This process is known as a ”tidal disruption event.”

During this process, if there is too much material in the ”accretion disk” and it moves too quickly, some material can acquire enough energy to break free from the gravitational pull of the black hole.

This material then surges out from the poles of the black hole, forming spectacular ”black hole jets” that appear as if the black hole is ”spitting.”

The black hole in front of them is exactly like this.

Lu Li observed material and energy being ejected from the black hole at nearly the speed of light.

It spewed out two streams of material and energy.

The power was enormous, many times more terrifying than gamma-ray bursts.

Observing this scene, Lu Li suddenly realized, ”I understand, I understand!”

Although energy can be compressed to a certain extent, it is possible to form matter and become ”solid,” much like a black hole; it’s a dense celestial body formed by constant compression of matter. Still, with enough external force, a black hole can ”swallow” energy or even matter.

Lu Li thought that if he could achieve this step, even if energy was infinitely compressed and transformed into matter, it would not affect its manipulation and use.

For instance, the black hole ”spitting” is mostly due to three reasons.

First, the influence of magnetic fields, as charged material in the accretion disk generates powerful magnetic fields.

These magnetic field lines get twisted and compacted in the accretion disk, forming spring-like structures.

As material moves along these twisted magnetic field lines, part of it is ”catapulted” out by strong electromagnetic forces, forming jets.

Second, heat and friction, as material in the accretion disk accelerates under the massive gravity of the black hole, generating enormous friction and heat.

This high-temperature material is ejected in the extreme environment of the black hole, forming jets.

Third, the influence of rotation, where the rotation of the black hole significantly impacts the formation of jets.

Faster rotating black holes can generate stronger magnetic fields, more effectively driving the jets.

Through observation, Lu Li discovered that the faster the black hole’s rotation, the greater the power of the jets.

”I roughly know how to ’upgrade’ my energy.”

He continued pondering, ”But whether energy ’upgrading’ would lead to my seventh deep evolution is still uncertain for now.”

Lu Li decided to go back and give it a try.

If energy really undergoes transformation, there’s a chance it might enable him to enter the seventh deep evolution ahead of schedule, rather than reaching a qualitative change through natural energy accumulation.

”During my sixth deep evolution, I stayed too long without any progress; now that I’ve found a potential way to influence deep evolution, I have to try it at any cost.”

Without any hesitation, Lu Li transformed into his ”will” form and sped rapidly towards Earth.

...

Forty-three thousand light-years is still quite a distance.

Even though Lu Li could ”slide” ninety light-years per second, it still took him about eighty minutes to travel such a long distance.

This was his farthest ”journey” to date.

Upon returning to Earth, it was exactly ten o’clock in the morning.

Lu Li plunged into the secret chamber of the super base and began preparing to attempt the energy transformation.

This chamber had been prepared for himself.

He was the only one in the entire super base with access.

Aside from a high-tech rest pod, there was nothing else in the chamber.

The reason Lu Li created this chamber was essentially for ”peace,” so he didn’t put too many things in it.

He lay in the rest pod, recalling the appearance of that ”swallowed” black hole.

”First and foremost, energy must be infinitely compressed. This is something that must be done.”
