F1: The Speed Legend

The logic was beautifully simple.

Kai carried zero authentic interest in a Hollywood career, meaning the absolute success of any individual studio dinner wasn’t the critical metric.

A private executive dinner offered high credibility; a chance encounter at an industry gala provided massive public distribution.

Regardless of the immediate setting, he would secure his strategic target. By leveraging LVMH’s institutional backing, the narrative weight multiplied, but the core objective remained unvaried: generate immense off-track noise to clear operational space for Ferrari’s technical department back in Europe.

And as a secondary reward, it allowed them to completely upend the plans of GQ and Chris Hemsworth.

The compliance crisis had transformed from a fatal threat into a definitive commercial lever.

It didn’t just misdirect rival teams; it proved Kai’s personal brand gravity extended far beyond the cockpit of a race car.

As Kai sketched out the raw parameters of the play, Nicolas’s professional agency training immediately engaged, his mind mapping the necessary industry connections.

Lorenzo watched Kai quietly before a sudden scenario occurred to him. ”What if a major studio director actually locks onto your profile and formally offers you a leading role?”

The unexpected question caught Kai off guard, and he nearly choked on his water. ”What? Come on... let’s avoid modeling scenarios that ridiculous, okay?”

For once, the unshakeable driver looked completely thrown off balance.

Lorenzo looked thoroughly pleased with his counter-punch, leaning back with an easy smile. ”You can’t write off the probability. What if an independent director is actively developing a high-budget motorsport feature? You possess the technical credentials, the raw driving history, and undisputed visual appeal. Hollywood would gladly open its boardrooms to a profile like that. Look at Dwayne Johnson: he anchored a massive footprint in cinema coming out of professional athletics, so what makes your baseline layout any different?”

Kai looked completely defeated.

Lorenzo laughed out loud. ”Outstanding! You seriously need to check your facial metrics right now.”

”Actually, it carries legitimate commercial logic,” Nicolas cut in from the side.

Kai raised his hands in mock surrender. ”Nicolas, I concede the point. Please avoid planting that specific narrative inside my processing loop. This isn’t Inception.”

Nicolas shook his head. ”No, I’m analyzing this purely on commercial metrics.”

Watching Kai’s expression temporarily freeze in mock horror, Lorenzo laughed so hard he nearly slid off the sofa, thoroughly entertained by the driver’s reaction.

Nicolas remained entirely analytical. ”We are well aware that Formula 1’s executive board is desperate to capture the North American market, and Netflix is actively leveraging the current docuseries to scale up its cultural footprint.”

”But that’s simply step one.”

”The deeper reality is that Netflix is currently bidding for the exclusive North American broadcast rights for the entire sport. We understand the immense value of media distribution contracts. An elite streaming platform doesn’t just increase baseline viewership; it redefines how the sport’s technical precision is packaged for a mainstream audience. It’s a massive variable.”

”Sky Sports has held an unshakeable monopoly over the UK broadcast rights for years, driven entirely by the world-class commentary delivery of David Croft and Martin Brundle.”

”The sport’s commercial rights holders are deeply dissatisfied with the current legacy network coverage in North America, and they are actively shopping for a modernized media partner. Netflix stands as a primary contender.”

”The absolute dominance of traditional cable networks is dead; streaming platforms carry identical corporate leverage now.”

Lorenzo finally controlled his laughter, wiping his eyes. ”But how does a streaming broadcast contract connect to a Hollywood studio project?”

Kai caught the agent’s logic first, taking a slow breath. ”Nicolas is tracking the macro-vision. If Formula 1 is systematically hunting for alternative platforms to scale its brand reach, they won’t restrict their parameters to live race streams. If streaming infrastructure works, theatrical distribution is the next logical step. If television expands the audience, why ignore cinema?”

Lorenzo blinked, momentarily confused. ”Wait, what? A live race stream inside a public movie theater?”

Kai looked exasperated. ”A feature film, Lorenzo! A major Hollywood theatrical feature about Formula 1!”

”The cultural reach of a global blockbuster is at the absolute summit of the media industry. Look at the international footprint Marvel has built around its characters. If an elite production team structures a high-fidelity racing film, the downstream commercial value would be unprecedented.”

”Specifically, a critically successful motorsport feature.”

Nicolas nodded firmly. ”If Kai can position himself as the defining human bridge that connects the paddock’s technical layout with the studio’s creative executives, he clears two major targets. First, he secures absolute personal access within Hollywood’s top tier; second, he earns significant leverage before Formula 1’s primary investors. He transforms into an indispensable asset to the sport’s entire ecosystem.”

”Exactly like Zak Brown,” Lorenzo noted.

Nicolas pointed a finger in agreement. ”Precisely like Zak Brown.”

McLaren’s leadership had played a defining role in coordinating the initial integration between the paddock and Netflix. Despite McLaren’s prolonged technical deficit on track, Zak Brown’s brilliant commercial maneuvering had systematically increased the team’s institutional influence within paddock governance, matching the political weight of legacy engine suppliers like Renault or Honda. That was macro-vision.

Consequently, Nicolas wasn’t encouraging Kai to abandon his seat and become a professional actor; he was directing him to establish an independent power base.

If the layout executed smoothly, Kai would step entirely out of Ferrari’s corporate shadow, standing before the sport’s primary financial titans as a self-contained commercial entity with independent leverage.

Kai aligned with the logic. He lacked a deep understanding of Hollywood financing or studio production mechanics, but he understood the baseline architecture of power. Possessing the leverage to trigger a major international project was the ultimate display of status.

Kai sat up straight, his spine cracking slightly after the long session. He tilted his head with a grin. ”How did a technical compliance crisis back in Italy evolve into an executive film brief in California?”

Lorenzo glanced at the agent, offering a light shrug. ”The exact second our transport cleared the airport perimeter? Welcome to Hollywood, man.”

The timeline had experienced a minor shift, but within the chaos, Kai and his management group had stabilized their parameters to launch a total counter-offensive.

On one front, Kai delivered a highly formal, public apology to GQ’s editorial desk. Industry insiders immediately parsed the wording, and alternative style forums began tracking the undercurrents.

The fashion circle analyzed the fallout from multiple angles. While Kai’s timing error on the red carpet was an undeniable operational miss, GQ’s immediate, aggressive cancellation of the feature spread looked remarkably rigid and heavy-handed.

Given that the rookie driver was navigating his very first Hollywood media cycle, minor logistical variances were entirely normal. The editor’s absolute refusal to allow a standard diplomatic review looked less like professional discipline and more like simple arrogance.

On the secondary front, Kai began appearing across several high-end private industry galas. His effortless wit and relaxed personal carriage left a distinct impression on the local attendees. The ongoing digital noise surrounding his Spider-Man entrance had turned his profile into the definitive topic of conversation across the West Coast entertainment desks.

Then the primary misdirection leak went live: trade outlets reported that Kai had shared a private lunch with top production executives from Netflix.

Netflix again.

Initially, rival analytics teams paid little attention. It was common paddock knowledge that Netflix was actively filming the latest season of Drive to Survive alongside Kai’s personal docuseries feature. Any Hollywood executive tracking his location would naturally review those files; a simple production check-in carried low baseline weight.

It looked like a routine corporate lunch.

Gradually, however, specific details began surfacing in the trade columns, indicating that the Netflix directors weren’t checking standard documentary footage. They were discussing a completely fresh asset:

A major scripted feature film, with the studio actively pitching the lead role directly to Kai. The newly crowned world champion was reportedly preparing a transition into mainstream Hollywood production as a leading man.

The entertainment trades exploded.

At this stage, the reports remained unverified leaks. Hollywood thrived on speculative copy, and transitioning a rumor into a finalized, contractually locked studio production was an incredibly long process that required substantial corporate clearance. It was far too early for structural panic.

Yet the sheer velocity of the story sent a shockwave through the local talent agencies, the topic dominating the daily entertainment briefs.

The narrative gained significant traction as specific script details leaked into the press:

The columns reported that Netflix was aggressively pursuing Kai to anchor their upcoming high-budget action feature, Extraction, aiming to cast him as the rugged mercenary lead, Tyler Rake.

The trades noted that the role had initially been assigned to Chris Hemsworth, but negotiations had stalled after the actor’s representatives insisted on an absolute twenty-million-dollar salary baseline. Netflix viewed the financial parameter as commercially inefficient—especially with Disney actively hesitating to position Hemsworth as the central face of the next Marvel phase—prompting the studio to evaluate alternative talent assets.

The leaks claimed Netflix was deeply captivated by Kai’s distinct personal charisma, while the driver’s representatives were actively resisting the contract because his primary racing duties and title defense left zero room in his calendar for an intensive studio shooting schedule. Yet the production team was showing absolute commercial flexibility, offering to completely restructure the filming blocks around his grand prix calendar to protect his track commitments.

The rumors multiplied across the digital feeds.

Every detail looked remarkably precise, transforming a wild, unverified concept into a completely viable studio project. Step by sector, the entertainment industry found itself caught up in the digital storm surrounding the driver’s profile.

Between the visual impact of the Spider-Man red carpet, the public fallout with GQ, and the sudden casting leaks, the media drops came in continuous waves, leaving the opposition’s scouts zero room to establish a clear baseline.

It was an unprecedented distraction layout.

Under normal parameters, an athlete attending a film premiere drew very little serious attention. The practice of cross-industry promotion via corporate sponsor invitations was standard paddock business.

Mainstream social media influencers regularly used brand credentials to walk the red carpets at Cannes, the Grammys, or the Academy Awards without holding a single artistic credit. The general crowd ignored their presence, while their digital fanbases claimed their icon had secured international stardom.

The practice was routine across the industry.

A summer blockbuster screening was no different; any high-profile guest could secure a ticket without altering the event’s trajectory.

A grand prix racer? The mainstream audience simply looked past the profile.

Across North America, professional sports metrics were dominated by football, baseball, and basketball. Formula 1 held zero baseline leverage in the mainstream market.

It was commercially negligible.

Yet Kai’s on-track execution had already proven why Formula 1’s executive board viewed him as the definitive future of the sport’s global image. True star power wasn’t a corporate narrative; it was an authentic presence. He moved through the Hollywood environment with total ease, avoiding the awkward look of an uninvited guest to stand confidently at the absolute center of the media space. His red-carpet interactions carried far more editorial value than the standard, rehearsed studio interviews.

Even Disney’s official marketing feeds shared the news clips of his arrival.

Blockbuster premieres occurred weekly throughout the summer season, following a highly predictable PR script that the general public had learned to tune out.

Kai’s presence altered the data completely. During their subsequent press junkets, both Tom Holland and Zendaya actively commented on his arrival, discussing how intense and technically fascinating Formula 1 racing looked, and describing how striking it was to meet the champion in person.

”Once they clear the helmet, their focus and carriage look completely different from standard expectations—it’s very much like Peter Parker’s dual identity.”

Step by step, the media traffic intensified, drawing Kai directly into the center of Hollywood’s primary narrative machine.

Yet while the external networks were operating at maximum volume, the interior of Kai’s suite at the Beverly Hills Hilton presented an entirely separate profile:

Quiet, disciplined, and perfectly level, devoid of a single byte of media noise, the thick carpets dampening even the sound of footsteps.

Kai was locked into a secure engineering brief, coordinating directly with Simone Resta, Charles Leclerc, and the core design department back in Italy.

Despite his active social calendar in Los Angeles, a close look revealed that Kai kept his device online continuously, even during high-end industry functions.

To any casual observer, the behavior was perfectly normal; within the digital era, every professional was tied to their smartphone data.

But Kai wasn’t parsing public comments. He opened his device at fixed intervals to verify the latest simulation logs, maintaining absolute parity with Leclerc’s analysis. Even amidst the high-intensity networking of his Hollywood schedule, he refused to lower his operational discipline, utilizing every single second to push the technical review to its absolute limit.

Yet reading long-distance telemetry data wasn’t enough; Kai had to participate in the actual engineering debate.

Consequently, he used every blank space in his itinerary to log into the group link. The design members were scattered across various summer destinations: some analyzing telemetry from holiday rentals in the Alps, others tracking software models from secluded mountain chalets, and some hiding out in their private garages to escape family noise, completely overcoming the mandatory shutdown constraints to advance the work.

Because the personnel were operating from unstructured environments, unexpected variables were common, and the technical briefings were frequently interrupted by routine real-world events.

”Simone, your assistant has entered the sector behind your chair,” Kai noted, pausing the technical review.

Resta looked back, confused. ”My assistants are completely offline for the holidays with their families—”

He turned around just as a large Golden Retriever bounded into the frame, knocking the engineering lead straight off his console as Resta let out a startled shout.

The video link exploded into immediate laughter, several technicians doubling over at their desks, the extreme structural pressure of the compliance review clearing away for a brief moment.

Watching from the side of the room, Nicolas Todt monitored the driver’s metrics with visible professional concern. Kai had logged less than two hours of sleep the previous night.

Managing a packed commercial calendar was draining enough on its own; balancing that workload while simultaneously directing an undercover technical defense against an impending FIA audit demanded an immense physical and cognitive toll.

He was burning his candle at both ends without a single resting window.

Yet the agent held zero levers to ease the immediate workload.

Turning to Lorenzo, Nicolas murmured quietly, ”Is his physical platform genuinely stable under this load?”

Lorenzo kept his eyes on the driver, patting the agent’s shoulder. He held absolute faith in Kai’s capacity; the young athlete simply couldn’t be evaluated using normal human baselines.

The reality was that the intensity fueled Kai’s competitive drive, unleashing an incredible level of focus when cornered.

This performance recalled Lorenzo’s memories of the previous season’s crunch at Silverstone and Hockenheim. Following Marchionne’s sudden passing, the entire institution of Ferrari had been fractured and unstable, its long-term future completely undefined. Yet Kai had gritted his teeth, stabilized his track side operations, and unified the team around a single belief in the title.

The current crisis was identical. Mercedes had zero assumption of the competitive monster they had awakened.

Paddock analysts traditionally pointed to Silverstone or Monaco as the defining turning points of Ferrari’s season. But to Lorenzo, the true foundation was being constructed right now in this hotel room. Standing at the absolute edge of a regulatory cliff, with their entire campaign on the line, the pressure had completely solidified Kai’s authority over Maranello’s technical core.

The threat was real, and the operational risk was extreme.

Even now, the engineering department had yet to lock in a finalized compliance map, and the timeline was tightening around their neck like a noose.

To claim they weren’t battling severe pressure would be an absolute lie.

Yet Lorenzo trusted the driver explicitly. Kai was shoulder-loading the entire captain’s responsibility through concrete actions. No matter how volatile the political landscape became, he had utilized the pressure from Mercedes, Red Bull, and John Elkann to fully lock down the technical department’s alignment.

A crisis of this scale could easily have triggered an institutional collapse, leaving the engineering factions scattered and open to recruitment by rival top-tier teams. But Kai had controlled the descent, directing the group toward an entirely new level of discipline.

The process had required eight months of continuous tracking, navigating internal friction and design failures where a single error would have ruined their leverage. Outside the executive office blocks, the technical group itself had been riddled with deep-seated institutional habits, their proud legacy leading to constant resistance against new leadership. Yet Kai had dismantled that inertia piece by piece, turning a fragile structure into a solid front.

Historically, Jean Todt had argued that Ferrari’s internal friction was an incurable cultural habit—one that could only be cleared by a total structural collapse that forced the organization to rebuild from zero. The embedded pride of the institution couldn’t be modified by administrative directives alone.

Yet the combination of Marchionne’s initial layout, Kai’s relentless execution, and Binotto’s management—backed unintentionally by Elkann’s pressure and the external threat from Wolff and Horner—had systematically carved out a path through the political vice.

They had survived the journey to stand at this exact position.

Lorenzo trusted Kai, not because he viewed the driver as an invincible superhero capable of resolving complex powertrain physics with a smile, but because he recognized his absolute, unshakeable will to fight through any sector of adversity until the checker dropped. He would run his race to the absolute limit and meet the outcome with an unblinking gaze.

Whether they secured the titles or faced disqualification, they would exit the arena fighting with a level smile. That was the sole metric that mattered.

That was the baseline focus Lorenzo wanted the agent to track: manage the logistics, maintain the cover story, and stand firmly behind the driver’s leadership.

The agent’s device vibrated sharply, cutting through his analytical loop. Checking the screen, Nicolas answered the line rapidly, offering Lorenzo a quick nod as he stepped out of the main room. Moving into the bathroom to protect Kai’s audio environment, he closed the door quietly, sitting down on the counter to manage his corporate communications from the flank.

The work continued across every available space.

Concurrently, in New York City, the atmosphere inside the flagship offices of Vogue magazine presented an entirely separate layout.

Inside the editor-in-chief’s private suite—an environment completely detached from grand prix racing but holding absolute authority over global media—a parallel scene was playing out.

The room was completely silent, matching the quiet of Kai’s hotel suite, but the underlying tension carried far more institutional risk.

Anna Wintour stood behind her desk, her hands resting flat on the mahogany surface as her gaze scanned the layout boards before her. She didn’t say a word, but her commanding presence filled the entire room.

Having held the editorial wheel of Vogue for over thirty years, she stood as the absolute benchmark of global style culture, her career serving as the physical blueprint for the industry’s most definitive media caricatures. Within the international fashion matrix, fewer than five individuals held the leverage to match her veto power.

Under her direction, Vogue had become the absolute bible of mainstream style. While the publication maintained authoritative editions in Paris and Milan, the American flagship edition held undisputed primacy at the absolute peak of the market. It was the Everest of print media; alternative lifestyle publications operated entirely in its shadow.

Her professional reputation matched her reality: an uncompromising force.

Exacting, cold, unyielding, and focused entirely on absolute perfection.

Flawless down to the last millimeter.

Wintour had utilized that exact discipline to build an absolute print empire.

She didn’t need to speak; the air inside the office was frozen. Line editors and creative assistants stood motionless along the walls, none of them daring to meet her eyes through her signature dark lenses. The heavy psychological pressure in the room was enough to break a junior designer’s confidence completely.

They were conducting the final verification layout for the upcoming autumn issue.

Wintour was thoroughly dissatisfied with the photographic results.

Following a long, heavy silence, her level voice cut through the room.

”No.”

The delivery was cold, flat, and entirely calm.

”No. No. No.”

Yet each individual rejection dropped like a clean blow, cutting down the creative concepts on the board.

”The selections are entirely generic. Completely unusable. Where is the life of the tailoring? Where is the physical carriage of the model? Is this the absolute limit of this department’s creative capability?”

”Is this your finest execution? Are you locking your parameters on this data?”

She paused briefly.

”If the answer is yes, the entire design desk is terminated.”

The tone carried zero emotional warmth, making it instantly clear to the assistants that the editor-in-chief had reached her absolute limit. The calmer her delivery, the more dangerous the fallout.

No one along the wall dared respond. Wintour adjusted her focus to deliver a direct question.

”If this isn’t your final baseline, where are the alternative assets? Don’t tell me every elite male model on this continent has a calendar conflict, or that the agency books have completely emptied out.”

The air remained frozen, the design assistants holding their breath to avoid drawing her focus, terrified of becoming the primary target for her immediate corporate clearance.

Yet letting the silence stretch was an equally fatal strategy. They understood her management style: if a clear counter-proposal didn’t surface, the entire room would face immediate dismissal.

Finally, a senior line editor stepped forward, balancing her layout board with trembling hands. ”Anna, we have a raw alternative asset from the West Coast feeds, though the compliance parameters are unverified...”

Wintour raised her eyes, her gaze instantly freezing the explanation. The assistant swallowed her remaining words, pulling her shoulders back as she stepped forward to place the print board flat on the desk.

Wintour evaluated the images, her sharp instincts immediately identifying a unique visual layout.

”Who is this? The face lacks any history in our database.”

”The tracking indicates the TCL Chinese Theatre... the Spider-Man premiere. Is he a newly signed studio prospect?”

For an unlisted rookie actor to walk a major superhero carpet in custom all-red tailoring and completely hijack the fashion lines required either absolute, reckless ignorance or a brilliant, intuitive understanding of personal branding. She wanted to know which profile they were tracking.

The editor clarified immediately. ”Negative. A Formula 1 driver.”

Wintour raised an eyebrow, a rare sign of genuine interest. ”Did Lewis attend the screening?”

Hamilton maintained a familiar social connection with Wintour across the international circuit. While not intimate friends, their paths crossed regularly at major fashion events, and Wintour was fully aware of the British driver’s desire to secure long-term brand equity in the style market. She had never been opposed to backing his profile.

”No, he skipped the event. This is the newly crowned world champion. His name is Kai.”

Wintour didn’t reply, her focus staying locked on the image prints.

Bold, intense, sharp, and completely unapologetic, his entire silhouette commanding the visual space. Yet his personal carriage presented a striking contrast: calm, relaxed, entirely at ease in his own skin. His natural grace softened the aggressive red of the tailoring, creating a balanced, elite aura that captured the eye instantly.

She scanned the frame, then returned to parse the details a second time.

It extended far beyond standard symmetry.

She automatically compared the profile to Hamilton. The veteran champion had never hidden his ambition to be recognized as a global style icon, consistently challenging different design movements and experimenting with highly visible runway looks. He possessed immense personal confidence, his grand prix success providing a powerful baseline presence. Yet despite his continuous efforts, the fashion establishment had consistently hesitated to grant him absolute validation. Why?

Authentic presence.

It wasn’t a matter of forced confidence or dramatic styling, nor did it come down to complex layering or designer labels. It was an intangible, unedited quality that simply existed within the individual’s baseline carriage.

Excessive ambition, obvious commercial drive, and an intense desire to prove oneself frequently threw a profile out of alignment. Trying too hard to please the critics stripped away an athlete’s authentic identity, which was a fatal flaw in high fashion.

Yet the young man on this print board possessed that exact quality of effortless independence.

Even standing in the center of a chaotic blockbuster premiere, surrounded by a wall of Hollywood stars, he remained entirely anchored in his own presence. He didn’t need to play to the lenses, prove his status to the studio reps, or align with standard red-carpet trends. He was simply himself, his authority entirely self-contained.

That absolute visual gravity commanded the lens, radiating an incredible vitality.

Wintour’s fingers moved slightly against the mahogany desk, her sharp instinct locked onto the profile.

Vogue held an undisputed, independent position at the absolute peak of global print culture. While they occasionally coordinated cross-industry features with cinema or music, every layout was executed strictly on their own terms. Vogue completely rejected routine promotional tie-ins.

If a major studio launched a blockbuster feature and requested a layout for commercial promotion, Vogue declined.

If a top-tier musical artist dropped a new album and sought an interview for marketing distribution, Vogue declined.

If an elite athlete captured the Super Bowl and sought a cover to maximize his commercial value, Vogue declined.

Because of that rigid filtering, alternative lifestyle magazines were packed with routine celebrity promotional pieces, while Vogue preserved its exclusive standard. Even when the publication extended a formal invitation, it was never a corporate marketing agreement; it meant the editor-in-chief recognized an authentic style authority within the individual. That was her unyielding metric.

Everything focused entirely on high fashion.

Consequently, an invitation from Vogue carried immense industry capital, with every layout managed under absolute creative control.

Until this second, a grand prix driver had never appeared within the pages of the American flagship edition—neither on a cover nor within a main feature spread. High fashion and motorsport had remained entirely separate universes.

Yet looking at the board now, was it time to execute a breakthrough?

No one understood the boundaries of Vogue better than Wintour. The publication’s standard was her personal standard; she held the absolute soul of the fashion empire.

She closely analyzed the young driver’s features on the print: clean, balanced, carrying a subtle, intellectual composure that contrasted sharply with the rebellious, intense edge of the leather jacket styling. It was a complex, contradictory mix that blended seamlessly into a unique personal aura.

He was far more than a professional athlete. He possessed a visual identity that extended beyond the grand prix paddock, carrying a deeper, compelling complexity that invited serious creative exploration.

Standing at a major cross-road for the autumn issue layout—

Wintour didn’t hesitate. She executed an immediate, clinical corporate decision, cutting right through the administrative clutter.

”Establish direct contact immediately.”

”Tonight. Los Angeles. Secure a primary studio location and a top-tier photographer before the hour ends.”

The directive was absolute, but the junior editor didn’t turn to execute the deployment. Her expression looked intensely compromised.

”What is the delay? Is your comprehension failing? I have zero intention of repeating a baseline instruction.”

The cold delivery panicked the assistant, who looked ready to break under the load. ”No, my apologies, Anna. We have a sudden logistical conflict in the tracking data.”

”The profile is currently being blacklisted by GQ’s local line editor. He was scheduled to shoot an eight-page feature spread for their autumn layout, but following an unverified timing conflict on the Spider-Man carpet, GQ canceled the contract. They immediately booked Chris Hemsworth to fill the empty slot and upgraded his package to anchor the autumn cover.”

The office went completely silent. The surrounding assistants looked toward the line editor with immediate pity, as if tracking a person walking toward a career execution. Then the pity was replaced by pure professional anxiety.

The editor swallowed hard, knowing she was standing in a dangerous position.

Truthfully, she regretted her sudden impulse to pull Kai’s red-carpet prints from the West Coast feed. She began questioning her own professional judgment. Why had she assumed introducing an unverified driver brief to the editor-in-chief was a smart move? If Wintour had just dismissed options from the world’s top modeling agencies, what made her think she would validate a grand prix racer?

Good lord.

Her knees felt weak. Had she just destroyed her entire career footprint within the fashion industry?

Her thoughts were completely locked, her analytical capacity blank. She could only manage a tight, uneven whisper. ”Should I instruct our West Coast bureau to run a complete data check on the background of the GQ conflict?”

To map out exactly what had transpired on the carpet.

Wintour looked back, her expression entirely flat. ”GQ? You are presenting an entry-level style publication as a metric? Since when does this desk track their editorial decisions?”

”They don’t even qualify as a high-fashion publication.”

”No serious fashion authority announces a casting choice like that muscular blonde actor for an autumn cover and continues to claim a position at the peak of the industry.”

”What demographic are they targeting exactly? Men’s Health? Chris Hemsworth on a style cover? If this is an early April Fool’s brief, their creative team has delivered an excellent joke.”

A cold, level assessment, completely devoid of emotional drama. She didn’t even waste the energy to lift her voice.

Wintour paused for a split second. ”Verify which absolute idiot on his management team directed him to sign with GQ in the first place. And isolate the stylist responsible for that generic red-carpet wardrobe choice.”

The final critique was directed at Kai’s operational group.

Wintour was starting to feel a genuine interest in the profile. Choosing an entry-level publication like GQ while simultaneously executing a brilliant, custom Dior red-carpet entrance represented two completely contradictory levels of style direction. It indicated that Kai’s management team was entirely green regarding fashion positioning, leaving her curious to see if the driver’s red-carpet visual impact had been an accidental fluke or authentic charisma.

She wanted to verify if the young driver could deliver under her creative standards.

Who knew? Global motorsport might finally produce an authentic cultural icon, much like Beckham’s arrival had pulled a massive mainstream demographic toward his sport decades ago.

With her target locked, Wintour repeated the order. ”Immediately. Clear the lines.”

”I expect him inside our Los Angeles studio core by eight o’clock tonight for the primary shoot. By eight o’clock tomorrow morning, the revised print sheets must be flat on my desk. Otherwise, the entire design desk is terminated. Clear the waste.”

Turning smoothly, she moved out of the suite like a sudden storm, leaving the editorial room behind.

Concurrently, on the West Coast, the transport vehicle cruised through Los Angeles.

The moment his device vibrated for the second time, Nicolas Todt had just cleared his primary line with the Netflix producers. Preparing to exit the vehicle, a sudden surge of jet-lag fatigue hit his legs, forcing him back into the seat.

Biting down on his immediate exhaustion, he answered the call with his standard professional discipline. ”Hello, Nicolas Todt speaking.”

”Mr. Todt, this is the main editorial office of Vogue magazine in New York.”

Nicolas blinked. ”Which specific publication?”

”...The American flagship edition of Vogue.”

The agent froze, the words catching in his throat as he forced back a sudden cough under the sheer weight of the information.

By the time the connection closed, Nicolas was still navigating a complete mental haze. His balance felt entirely disconnected, his steps uneven as he cleared the transport door, barely holding his ground.

For a brief second, he genuinely questioned if he had just processed a high-level prank call. Vogue? The absolute pinnacle of global print culture?

And not an entry-level international subsidiary, but the definitive American flagship edition!

While fashion wasn’t his primary operational sector, his historical data confirmed that a grand prix driver had never logged a single page within the American flagship edition of Vogue.

Even Hamilton had been kept outside that boundary.

Yet here was the flagship house, extending a priority invitation directly to Kai.

If this was an engineered prank, he had to admire the sheer creative reach of whoever had constructed the script. To link an F1 driver to that level of print authority was a stroke of absolute genius.

Yet every technical indicator proved the communication was entirely genuine. The operational timeline, the studio location, the booking procedures, and the specific creative parameters were perfectly aligned. The rep hadn’t just requested a meeting; she had systematically cross-verified Kai’s compliance parameters and personal schedule.

Furthermore, the moment the call disconnected, an official confirmation brief landed on his secure server.

Checking the digital source address confirmed the origin beyond any doubt: it was Vogue.

The structural parameters交汇 converged seamlessly, transforming a visual mirage into an absolute, physical reality.

He stood there in a daze, his exhaustion completely cleared by a massive surge of adrenaline. His fingers and toes tingled as his physical systems returned to full capacity. His heart hammered in his chest like an engine initializing a hot lap, the rhythm booming through his ears.

Every obstacle contains its own breakthrough.

The red-carpet timing variance had derailed their original GQ layout, forcing them to pivot and target Hollywood studio production to maintain the misdirection.

Yet that very disruption had cleared the path for an unprecedented breakthrough. Chris Hemsworth’s upcoming action project happened to be controlled directly by Netflix’s development team. Bypassing unnecessary agency intermediaries, Kai had established a direct link with the studio principals, and when Netflix realized the driver required a media cover story, they welcomed the layout completely.

The reality was that Hemsworth’s twenty-million-dollar wage demand had left the production team looking for a contract lever.

Netflix could use the rumors surrounding Kai’s casting to recalibrate their negotiations with Hemsworth, applying pressure to lower his salary baseline; Kai could leverage the studio’s media drops to generate a massive wave of off-track noise to protect Maranello’s timeline. It was a flawless commercial alignment where both entities extracted exactly what they required.

Furthermore, the Netflix executives had expressed their appreciation by opening the doors to Beverly Hills’ most exclusive private functions, providing Kai with total access to the city’s power elite.

Yet even that asset paled in comparison to the style vector that had just opened up.

GQ had closed its doors, only for Vogue to open theirs.

Kai was preparing to become the first grand prix driver in history to secure a dedicated feature layout within the American flagship edition of Vogue, executing the milestone before any veteran champion on the grid.

A minor operational error on a red carpet had opened up a massive alternative trajectory. By riding the momentum of the crisis, Kai had systematically pushed open a major door for global motorsport.

Unlocking a completely new tier of cultural influence.

Yet the excitement lasted only a moment. Nicolas didn’t have a single second to celebrate, because their timeline had zero downtime remaining.
