F1: The Speed Legend

Whoosh—Whoosh—

No verbal response came through the radio channel. However, Kai’s heavy, labored breathing was clearly audible. It was glaringly obvious that the brutal, continuous sequence of high-speed duels against Albon and Hamilton had demanded a massive, exhausting expenditure of physical energy. Furthermore, the extreme, hyper-focused mental capacity required to execute those maneuvers under wet conditions had pushed his concentration to the absolute, ragged edge. His entire being was operating in a state of absolute, fiery combustion.

Fortunately, his respiration wasn’t frantic or chaotic. He maintained a perfectly stable, highly measured rhythm. Amidst the intense pressure and absolute chaos, he had firmly, ruthlessly grasped the reins of rationality.

With every inhale and exhale transmitting through the headset, Binotto’s own emotions violently churned. In truth, the direct, explicit command ordering Kai to box had already been sitting heavily on his tongue, ready to be issued. But a final, microscopic sliver of rational restraint violently yanked him back from the precipice, allowing him to suppress the urge.

He had to trust Kai. The Ferrari strategy department had already committed a catastrophic, inexcusable volume of blunders today, coming terrifyingly close to single-handedly obliterating their entire race. Now that they had miraculously managed to drag themselves back from the brink of the abyss and re-establish a functional trajectory, he absolutely had to trust his primary driver. He absolutely could not afford to repeat the horrific disaster of Interlagos last season.

His nerves were pulled terrifyingly taut. Although his external demeanor remained a mask of profound, icy calm, internally, Binotto’s organs felt as though they were being slowly incinerated—

At this specific microsecond, Silverstone felt exactly like an apocalyptic disaster zone.

Damp, humid, and suffocatingly hot. That was a given. Yet simultaneously, the howling gale ripped across the plains, injecting a piercing, freezing chill into the atmosphere. It felt exactly like being trapped inside a massive steam cooker, while simultaneously being subjected to violent, uncontrollable shivers. If you zipped up your windbreaker to block the freezing gusts, you instantly began suffocating from the humid heat, your entire body drenched in sweat.

Purgatory.

Perhaps it hadn’t quite descended into the deepest levels of hell, but it was undeniably purgatory.

”Breathe. Mattia, remember to breathe.” Kai’s voice suddenly drifted over the radio, laced with a faint hint of dry, sarcastic amusement.

”Regarding the Silverstone weather... my apologies, but currently, I absolutely cannot spot any definitive, conclusive signals. It is fundamentally impossible to issue an accurate prediction. However, analyzing the immediate, real-time track conditions, I can comfortably maintain my pace on these slicks. There is absolutely zero issue.”

”Pierre, I require immediate, real-time telemetry updates detailing the exact lap rhythms of Hamilton and Alex.”

Borreipaire turned his head, shooting a highly loaded glance directly at Binotto.

Binotto, whose arms had remained tightly crossed over his chest, secretly clenched his fists. However, the rigid tension in his shoulders visibly relaxed. Utilizing the most stable, level voice he could muster, he offered a light, supportive response. ”I am fully, mentally prepared. The absolutely lawless Kai is officially preparing to take absolute command of Silverstone.”

Even though Binotto still fundamentally lacked the absolute, towering confidence required for this massive gamble, he trusted Kai. The logic was entirely, profoundly simple.

A faint smile crept onto Borreipaire’s face. ”Copy that, Kai.”

...

Pitter-patter, pitter-patter. The rain continued to fall.

It wasn’t a massive, apocalyptic torrential downpour. It was a fine, dense, continuous British drizzle. Exactly like the infamous, historical fog that once defined London, this specific type of relentless, suffocating drizzle is a classic, defining characteristic of the region. Acting exactly like a massive, ethereal net, it completely enveloped Silverstone. The asphalt shimmered with a dark, bruised, cyan hue beneath the floodlights and heavy storm clouds. The water film was microscopic yet incredibly treacherous. The mechanical grip on the circuit fluctuated wildly, appearing and vanishing exactly like a breathing organism. The massive, expansive world had suddenly, terrifyingly shrunk down to a microscopic, palm-sized bubble surrounding the chassis.

Claustrophobic. Deathly quiet. The only sound in the universe was the visceral roar of the engine continuously, violently hammering against his heart—

The red chassis rocketed out of Turn 5, blasting onto the Wellington Straight. The taillights flashed rhythmically in the dense water mist, acting exactly like a solitary ray of hope guiding the way through the terrifying darkness of ’Silent Hill.’

HOWEVER!

That brilliant flash of silver had absolutely not vanished. It stayed perfectly in step, clinging to him exactly like an inescapable shadow.

Hamilton had completely reclaimed his icy, absolute composure.

The terrifying, blindingly aggressive murderous aura that had seemed ready to violently tear the air to shreds had been quietly, methodically retracted. Taking its place was his absolute most terrifying, lethal operational profile—

Patience. Absolute composure. Flawless precision. A silent, suffocating, crushing pressure.

Although the brutal, head-to-head duel between Kai and Hamilton moments ago had been spectacularly brilliant, successfully resurrecting the paddock’s visceral memories of the fiercely aggressive, wildly uninhibited young ’Lewis,’ the objective reality was that over the past decade, the fully mature, legendary Hamilton very rarely allowed his emotions to derail his rationality. He almost never blindly, recklessly attempted to violently shatter the strategic equilibrium.

Occasionally, when Hamilton found himself operating from a deficit, trapped in a massive crisis, or even agonizingly losing a World Championship, he consistently maintained absolute, icy calm. He always maintained a massive, overarching strategic vision. Because he was fully mature and possessed a profound, unparalleled understanding of Formula 1, he knew that the ultimate victory or defeat in a single Grand Prix was fundamentally insufficient to permanently upend the entire macroeconomic landscape of a season. You must look forward. You must meticulously plot your campaign from a vastly higher strategic vantage point. There was absolutely zero justification to violently shatter your own operational rhythm merely due to a temporary, localized setback.

This philosophy applied not only to an entire season, but equally to a single, isolated Grand Prix.

Yet moments ago, Hamilton had completely discarded his supposedly impenetrable, bulletproof armor. He had abandoned his icy calm and rock-solid stability, adopting a highly uncharacteristic, wildly impulsive, hot-blooded posture.

At the absolute climax of their continuous, brutal sequence of offensive and defensive maneuvers, Hamilton had completely lost control of his own rhythm. In an incredibly rare occurrence, he found himself utterly outmatched and suppressed by Kai during a massive rhythm duel at Silverstone. That jarring reality had functioned exactly like a massive alarm bell, violently hammering against his heart. Hamilton instantly realized his own catastrophic loss of composure, and he firmly, finally stopped blindly charging forward.

Having successfully reclaimed his icy calm, Hamilton seamlessly mutated back into the absolute, undisputed King of Mercedes-Benz.

Operating under wet conditions, he absolutely refused to execute highly aggressive, extreme-risk maneuvers—relying entirely on his elite, flawless car control, he generated a massive, omnipresent, suffocating aura of pressure. He continuously, relentlessly projected that pressure forward, violently crushing down upon the leader. He aggressively forced all the high-risk variables and terrifying uncertainties directly onto his opponent’s shoulders. Operating exactly like a masterful, seasoned predator, he patiently waited for his prey to expose a microscopic vulnerability, or inevitably commit a catastrophic error.

Even under normal, dry conditions, Hamilton’s massive, towering presence on the track was more than sufficient to generate an unparalleled level of psychological pressure.

But under wet conditions, Hamilton’s presence became vastly more terrifying, vastly more dominant. He resembled a massive blue whale suddenly breaching the surface of the abyssal deep. The entire paddock universally acknowledged Hamilton as the absolute, undisputed wet-weather grandmaster among active drivers. Time and time again, he had utilized undeniable, concrete actions on the asphalt to validate his absolute mastery of rain-soaked circuits.

The current scenario was a perfect example.

Hamilton was no longer frantically attempting to pull out of the slipstream, nor was he aggressively trying to forcefully wedge his chassis into microscopic gaps.

On the surface, he appeared constantly restless, clearly demonstrating an active, ongoing intention to launch an attack. But in reality, this was a highly sophisticated, elaborate theatrical performance. It was a spectacular, flawlessly executed bluff. The Number 44 car constantly oscillated on the absolute, ragged edge of the DRS activation window. He meticulously maintained the distance, utilizing his rhythm to generate massive psychological pressure. He explicitly refused to grant Kai a single microsecond of breathing room, yet simultaneously, he explicitly refused to expose himself to the massive, statistical risk of committing a catastrophic error.

—Exactly mirroring Kai’s execution moments prior.

’Kai vs. Hamilton: The Rhythm War 2.0’ was officially underway.

He knew with absolute certainty that under wet conditions, the true, lethal offensive absolutely wasn’t dictated by violent, erratic steering inputs. The true battlefield was entirely located within the heart rate of the driver positioned ahead. He temporarily decoupled the mechanical influence of the chassis, reverting to a pure, unadulterated duel between drivers, utilizing high-stakes psychological warfare to execute a lethal, long-range confrontation.

The critical difference was this: Hamilton understood Silverstone far too intimately.

Operating from the position of the pursuer, willingly surrendering the absolute initiative, Hamilton had paradoxically successfully secured massive breathing room. His singular, absolute focus was entirely locked onto Kai. He possessed an intimate, profound, encyclopedic knowledge of every single corner and every single millimeter of the circuit. Even though it was raining—no, to be significantly more accurate: especially because it was raining—visibility was severely compromised, making it impossible to visually map the complete circuit trajectory. At this specific juncture, a driver was forced to rely entirely on pure intuition and heightened sensory perception to resurrect their deep-rooted neurological memories of the Silverstone layout. Utilizing those memories, Hamilton was perfectly capable of locating the absolute optimal racing line amidst the erratic, terrifying fluctuations of the water film. He was successfully maximizing his massive home-turf advantage to its absolute zenith.

At Copse Corner, Hamilton noted Kai’s braking marker. Hamilton deliberately hit the brakes a half-meter earlier, yet simultaneously fed a fraction more throttle mid-corner. Relying on a vastly smoother, significantly more stable rhythm, he remained perfectly glued to Kai’s gearbox.

Approaching the violent directional changes at Maggotts, Kai subtly tightened his steering rhythm. Hamilton’s steering angle inputs were practically flawlessly synchronized, matching Kai’s movements exactly like an inescapable shadow.

Left, right, rise, fall. Executing a perfectly synchronized, elegant waltz amidst the freezing rain. Yet, the atmosphere possessed absolutely zero romantic charm resembling ’Singin’ in the Rain.’ The relentless pursuit, the intense, suffocating proximity... the tension was continuously escalating at a terrifying rate. A romantic cinema classic had instantly, violently mutated into a terrifying psychological thriller. The heavy scent of blood was rapidly spreading through the air.

Pressure—Pressure—And vastly more pressure!

On the live broadcast feed, the red and silver machines consistently maintained a highly specific distance ranging from two-thirds of a car length to a full car length. It felt exactly as though an invisible, highly taut rope permanently connected the two drivers.

If Kai accelerated, Hamilton accelerated.

If Kai decelerated, Hamilton decelerated.

The highly similar rhythmic profiles, subtly offset by the fundamentally different engineering characteristics of the Mercedes-Benz and the Ferrari, created an incredibly fascinating, highly complex dissonance. The suffocating, crushing pressure felt as though it were practically spilling out of the monitors, bleeding directly into the fine, needle-like drizzle. It aggressively burrowed into pores, violently pierced the skin, and rapidly seeped directly into the bloodstream. Before anyone even consciously realized what was happening, the tension had completely, inescapably suffocated their souls.

This, was the true, absolute terror of Lewis Hamilton.

It absolutely wasn’t hot-blooded impulse; it was absolute, terrifying order.

It absolutely wasn’t raw passion; it was absolute, total control.

The invisible smoke of political warfare was violently rising once again. The massive ”Rhythm War” had been resurrected. Having swapped offensive and defensive positions, the tension had officially ascended to an entirely new, terrifying stratosphere.

Whoosh, whoosh—The sound of the rain violently hammering against eardrums.

VROOM, VROOM, VROOM—The visceral roar of the engines violently smashing against hearts.

The chaotic noise and massive clamor had completely, totally detonated across the venue. But the most bizarre paradox was this: despite the deafening, apocalyptic volume, the circuit simultaneously felt utterly, deathly silent. Trapped within the heavy, freezing water curtain created by the rain, every single spectator had been reduced to a completely isolated, solitary island. They stared unblinkingly, absolutely mesmerized by the asphalt, utilizing their pounding hearts to viscerally feel the ultimate, peak showdown between the two absolute grandmasters—

”Hamilton vs. Kai 3.0”

Hearts violently shot straight up into throats. The pit lane entry was rapidly, terrifyingly approaching. The absolute focus of the entire global audience was firmly, unblinkingly locked onto the two brilliant flashes of silver and red light tearing through the gloom.

Moments ago, when the rain initially began to fall, due to the massive chaos and confusion in the pit lane, the leading group spearheaded by Leclerc had executed immediate pit stops. Consequently, the secondary group, spearheaded by Albon, had remained out on the track.

Immediately following that strategic divergence, the audience had been treated to the absolute most spectacular, breathtaking offensive and defensive pursuit of the entire Silverstone weekend. Kai had fought a grueling, agonizing battle all the way through to Sector 3 before finally successfully completing the overtake. Consequently, he had absolutely no time to execute a pit stop.

If the drivers currently operating in the secondary group still genuinely intended to execute a tire swap, it absolutely had to be right now. This was the absolute, definitive microsecond. The high-stakes strategic warfare between the ’Big Three’ was once again violently primed to detonate.

Red. Blasted past the entry lane.

Silver. Blasted past the entry lane.

Blue... Dove into the pits.

A massive, unified gasp of profound shock rippled across the entire circuit.

Unbelievable! Kai actually, genuinely refused to box!

The current visual evidence heavily suggested the rain was steadily escalating in intensity, and the geographical footprint of the storm was rapidly expanding. Analyzing the trajectory, it seemed highly probable that the cells were preparing to completely, aggressively blanket all three sectors of Silverstone. The leading group that had pitted earlier had clearly executed a brilliant, flawless calculation. The Intermediates were currently playing a massive, critical role on the asphalt. Indeed, upgrading to Full Wets should absolutely be placed on the immediate agenda for discussion.

And the ultimate result?

Even more unbelievably! Hamilton also completely refused to box!

Mercedes-Benz was absolutely not an organization prone to irrational, emotional decision-making. They absolutely would not stubbornly refuse a required pit stop simply out of petty pride or a desire to aggressively posture. Toto Wolff and Hamilton were both absolute masters of analyzing the macroeconomic landscape and prioritizing long-term strategic viability. If the weather conditions were genuinely catastrophic, transitioning to Intermediates was undeniably the absolute, fundamental key to successfully challenging for the ultimate podium, or perhaps even the ultimate victory.

Perhaps, the sole, absolute explanation was—Interlagos?

Last year in São Paulo, Mercedes-Benz’s wet-weather strategic execution had suffered a total, apocalyptic bankruptcy. Hamilton’s catastrophic pit stop timing had completely, irreversibly destroyed his entire race, ultimately triggering a massive domino effect that directly resulted in Hamilton losing the World Championship crown.

Operating under the assumption that Mercedes-Benz was desperately terrified of repeating that catastrophic disaster... Hamilton had rolled up his sleeves, fully prepared to engage in a direct, one-on-one duel against Kai. He was explicitly dictating his own strategic choices based entirely on Kai’s pit strategy. From a highly optimistic perspective, this demonstrated that Hamilton was absolutely, fiercely determined to win. But from a highly pessimistic perspective, it meant that Mercedes-Benz was actively surrendering their own rhythm and strategic autonomy.

Was this a brilliant masterstroke, or a catastrophic blunder?

And then! Albon actually executed a pit stop!

This mathematically guaranteed that Albon would likely suffer a massive, catastrophic sequence of overtakes, potentially plummeting all the way down to P6, completely squandering a golden opportunity to secure his very first professional podium finish.

Therefore, was this an indication that Horner fundamentally lacked confidence in Albon’s wet-weather capabilities? Or had Red Bull finalized a highly accurate meteorological calculation confirming that the rain was destined to far exceed current projections? Were they equipping both their drivers with wet-weather tires specifically because they intended to execute a massive, lethal strike during the absolute closing stages of the Grand Prix?

Taking the analysis a step further: did Red Bull genuinely possess absolute conviction that the weather would continue to deteriorate, while Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz were actively, blindly ignoring the official meteorological forecasts? Had the strategic landscape of the ’Big Three’ been completely, violently altered once again?

Shock! Wave after massive wave!

Today’s Grand Prix was absolutely flawlessly fulfilling every single demand and expectation of the global audience. It was overflowing with relentless climaxes and breathtaking spectacles. There wasn’t a single microsecond of breathing room. Catastrophic variables and massive anomalies arrived in continuous, rapid-fire succession. Absolutely every conceivable element of motorsport drama was present. But the true, absolute focal point was this: the fine, freezing drizzle currently blanketing the circuit showed absolutely zero signs of relenting. The apocalyptic chaos was continuing unabated.

Absolutely anything was possible.

Stapleton raised her head, staring up at the dense, gray sky. The intensity of the rain had noticeably escalated. The fine, needle-like drizzle seemed to finally be succumbing to the violent pull of gravity, plummeting toward the earth with significantly greater velocity.

Increasingly dense, increasingly heavy. The chaotic noise of the world grew massive and deafening.

The passionate fans, wrapped tightly in their rain ponchos and standing in the open-air viewing areas, were already completely, entirely soaked to the bone. Although they physically lacked the ability to directly touch the asphalt to verify the grip levels, the wet, muddy ground beneath their boots had already begun to pool with significant standing water. It was incredibly easy to deduce that the conditions on the actual racing surface were likely vastly more catastrophic.

The objective reality was exactly that.

Across Sector 2 and Sector 3, a highly visible, highly volatile film of water had begun to actively flow across the track surface. Massive, dark patches of damp asphalt were rapidly appearing along the outside racing lines.

Although Sector 1 wasn’t currently completely blanketed by the precipitation, the massive volume of water being aggressively flung off the Intermediates of the leading cars was actively disrupting the uniformity of the track temperatures.

Tire core temperatures were rapidly plummeting. The carbon brake discs were cooling at a catastrophic, highly accelerated rate. In Bahrain, Ferrari’s fatal flaw had been that their brakes completely failed to cool quickly enough. But now, in this specific scenario, the brakes were cooling far too rapidly. Every single time a driver stomped on the brake pedal, it felt exactly like stepping onto a wet, highly polished porcelain tile. It was a massive, terrifying crisis. The driver’s ability to execute hyper-precise, delicate inputs was severely compromised.

The SF90 absolutely demanded vastly more caution and vastly more delicate manipulation. But inevitably, the chassis still exhibited visible, terrifying signs of instability.

Hamilton was the absolute first person to detect Ferrari’s agonizing struggles—

Although the absolute importance of raw chassis performance is significantly diminished under wet conditions, it still represents the foundational machinery the driver relies upon. It remains a massive, critical partner in the fight. The inherent engineering superiority of the W10 was subtly, undeniably beginning to manifest.

The opening!

Hamilton smelled the distinct scent of blood within the damp, heavy air.

Consequently, Hamilton immediately initiated a violent escalation of the rhythm.

Entering Turn 6, Brooklands, Hamilton delayed his braking phase by a critical half-beat, aggressively shoving the nose of his Mercedes toward the inside line. Kai flatly refused to execute a desperate, extreme block to seal the trajectory. Instead, he executed a highly calculated, premature steering input mid-corner, explicitly prioritizing his exit traction to defend his speed.

Immediately following that, entering Turn 7, Luffield, Hamilton deliberately, highly artificially slowed his mid-corner velocity, actively manufacturing a deceptive illusion that he was ”desperately maximizing his exit speed.” But Kai completely ignored the bait. Focusing entirely on his own execution, he absolutely refused to aggressively apply throttle prematurely. He maintained absolute patience, waiting until the steering wheel had returned completely to center before flawlessly, linearly pushing the throttle, maintaining absolute continuity in his rhythm.

The two race cars looked exactly like two legendary, peerless martial arts grandmasters engaged in a brilliant, high-stakes game of chess amidst the freezing drizzle.

Hamilton was aggressively laying out the board.

Kai was flawlessly decoding the moves.

Exactly mirroring the scenario moments ago, Kai had maintained absolute patience, executing a relentless pursuit and methodically applying pressure. On the surface, he appeared completely calm and entirely unbothered, yet he was actively concealing a highly lethal intent. When Hamilton had launched his assault on Albon—

The mantis stalks the cicada, completely unaware of the oriole lurking behind.

Now, the positions had been completely inverted. Hamilton was maintaining absolute patience, slowly, methodically accumulating massive, crushing layers of pressure, violently rolling them forward to crush Kai. Back and forth. The two race cars meticulously maintained their precise spacing. They continuously, relentlessly escalated the explosive tension of their confrontation, yet they absolutely refused to conceal their razor-sharp, lethal edges.

Slowly, methodically, the pressure began to physically manifest.

That brilliant flash of silver remained permanently, inescapably lodged within Kai’s rearview mirrors. It flashed menacingly within the apex of the corners. It loomed massively within the dense water mist. Every single time the braking markers approached, it closed the distance with terrifying aggression. Yet, it consistently maintained absolute patience and icy composure. Lingering right there, exactly at the threshold. Hovering not too far, but absolutely not too close. It continuously projected the illusion that a massive attack was imminent, yet the attack never actually materialized. Operating with the sadistic posture of a cat toying with a trapped mouse, it shadowed every single movement. The highly calculated, perfectly calibrated rhythm control was flawlessly glued to his tail. Regardless of how aggressively Kai maneuvered, he was fundamentally incapable of shaking it loose.

When operating in fine, freezing drizzle, the vast majority of drivers naturally default to establishing a significantly larger physical distance between the cars, explicitly aiming to maximize their margin for error. Because under these treacherous conditions, a microscopic millimeter of deviation frequently guarantees a total, catastrophic bankruptcy.

However, they completely refused to conform.

The physical gap separating the Number 44 and Number 22 cars absolutely never fully expanded. One driver operated with terrifying audacity and meticulous precision, staying glued to the rear wing exactly like a madman dancing on the edge of a razor blade. The other driver projected an aura of casual ease, entirely unhurried. Despite commanding the lead of the Grand Prix, he exhibited absolutely zero panic or desperate urgency to shake the tail, projecting a bizarre, almost relaxed elegance amidst the raging hurricane.

It was completely unknown how the two actual protagonists were internalizing the pressure. But the hearts of the global audience had already been violently shoved directly into their throats. The tension was hovering on the absolute brink of total detonation. Absolutely no one possessed the courage to even exhale loudly.

”Do not commit an error.”

This was the highly specific, highly lethal message Hamilton was aggressively transmitting directly through the rearview mirrors.

”The exact microsecond you suffer a massive understeer, a microscopic slide, or a slightly overly aggressive throttle application... any microscopic flaw... I am right here!”

Although the threat was completely silent, the brilliant flash of silver continuously, frantically probing the edges of his vision was incredibly clear and terrifyingly bright. Hamilton was meticulously ensuring Kai could clearly ”hear” the message.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Kai heard it perfectly.

But he offered absolutely zero response.

To be significantly more accurate: he explicitly refused to respond. Kai remained entirely, flawlessly focused on his own execution. Operating entirely according to his own rhythm, he entered a state of absolute, complete, profound immersion.

Entering the massive heavy braking zone at the absolute terminus of the Wellington Straight, he executed a rapid manual adjustment to the brake bias, shifting the load distribution one click rearward to explicitly prevent a catastrophic front lockup.

Entering Copse Corner, he absolutely refused to execute a direct, aggressive slice. Instead, prior to the turn-in point, he deliberately, highly calculatingly steered his chassis onto a significantly wetter, less optimal racing line. He was actively avoiding the massive rubber accumulation zones, exploiting the significantly lower surface temperatures to desperately preserve the structural integrity of his tire surfaces.

Navigating the rapid, violent directional transitions at Maggotts, he deliberately allowed the rear of the chassis to gently, microscopically slide along the absolute ragged edge of physics. He was utilizing that tiny fraction of oversteer to actively assist the rotation of the nose.

The absolute core definition of wet-weather racing absolutely isn’t about raw velocity. It is entirely about possessing a vastly more profound, hyper-accurate comprehension of the absolute limit.

Amidst the relentless, freezing drizzle, the drivers who had successfully transitioned to Intermediates were finally beginning to rapidly showcase their massive engineering advantage. The massive time delta they had originally surrendered by executing a pit stop was currently being methodically, rapidly chewed away. They were once again utilizing undeniable, concrete actions to perfectly validate the absolute, towering importance of operating on the correct tire compound within Formula 1.

When compared directly against the Intermediates, the lap times of Kai and Hamilton—who were stubbornly, insanely attempting to survive on slicks—had noticeably, significantly dropped.

The massive, high-stakes psychological warfare between the leader and the pursuer was silently, incredibly tensely spreading through the dense rain curtain. This specific battle for supremacy had transcended a simple duel between Kai and Hamilton. It had officially mutated into a massive, overarching war between two fundamentally different tire compounds, and two entirely divergent tactical philosophies.

HOWEVER!

Kai remained absolutely icy, utterly composed, and terrifyingly stable. He didn’t execute a frantic, desperate attempt to aggressively shake his tail, nor did he allow the massive, crushing pressure to induce panic and shatter his rhythm—

Hamilton’s presence, the massive threat of the Intermediates rapidly closing in from behind... absolutely everything was merely a chaotic external interference. They possessed absolutely zero fundamental difference from the rain currently plummeting from the sky.

For Kai, the single, absolute priority was maintaining hyper-focus. Locking his concentration entirely upon his own execution.

This was especially true right now. The circuit absolutely wasn’t entirely saturated. Certain sectors were completely submerged, while other sectors remained surprisingly dry. Furthermore, certain areas featured highly volatile, floating water films. The wildly fluctuating mechanical grip generated by the slicks was currently manufacturing a highly erratic, completely unpredictable state of dynamic equilibrium. The raw, visceral feedback transmitted from the asphalt through the tires to his peripheral nervous system was becoming increasingly complex and terrifyingly difficult to decode.

Fascinatingly, this specific iteration of Silverstone felt... slightly alien. It presented a massive, fundamental divergence from the standard dry-weather profile. It felt exactly as if he were navigating a completely brand-new, entirely unknown circuit.

Kai actually felt a massive surge of adrenaline. It felt exactly as though he had been violently transported back to his roots in street racing. Blasting through the abrasive, raw, wildly untamed, completely natural streets. Although the machinery was far from perfect, although catastrophic variables arrived in continuous waves, although the steering wheel in his hands was fundamentally incapable of asserting absolute control over the environment... the profound, absolute immersion required to continuously, relentlessly challenge the absolute limit allowed every single cell in his body to viscerally, intimately experience the true, unadulterated essence of speed and passion.

Wherever the water flowed, he borrowed its momentum.

The exact microsecond the tires began to ”float,” he instantly, flawlessly eased the pressure.

That specific paradigm of control was no longer a rigid, mechanical technical input. It was a profound perception, a visceral touch, an absolute comprehension. The race car had magically, beautifully regressed to its absolute, primal origin.

It was an undeniable reality that Hamilton was glued directly to his gearbox, utilizing an unparalleled display of elite driving to manufacture an unbelievable level of crushing pressure and relentless assault. He was aggressively, masterfully weaponizing the rain to explicitly manufacture his own golden opportunity.

But Kai, operating deep within the storm, had officially entered an entirely different stratosphere of existence. The rain felt exactly like a trusted partner, marching alongside him. His driving execution projected a wildly untamed, yet effortlessly elegant aura. Fluid, seamless, entirely unified with the elements. That brilliant flash of red radiated a blinding, spectacular light amidst the massive, boundless ocean of cyan rain mist. It firmly, ruthlessly commanded the absolute, undivided focus of the entire global audience.

Completely mesmerized. Utterly intoxicated. Crofty stared at the live broadcast monitor, absolutely, totally immersed in the spectacle.

—Ayrton Senna!

Once again, Kai was aggressively, involuntarily resurrecting the legendary memory of the immortal Racing God. This absolutely wasn’t the first time, and it was highly probable it absolutely would not be the last. It wasn’t because their driving styles were perfectly identical, but entirely because of that specific, transcendent aura.

While others cowered in terror of the rain, he appeared to absorb it, radiating an entirely new, brilliant vitality within the storm. It wasn’t merely reckless audacity, and it absolutely wasn’t just hot-blooded impulse. He was genuinely, authentically breathing the rain. Swimming through the storm. Completely devoid of fearful trembling or hesitant caution. On the contrary, he appeared exactly like a fish returned to water, fiercely arrogant and magnificently uninhibited.

From Interlagos to Monaco, and now to Silverstone. Staring obsessively at the Number 22 car, Senna’s legendary silhouette continuously flashed through his mind... only to slowly, methodically fade away. Taking its place was Kai’s visage. He absolutely didn’t require comparison to anyone else. He absolutely didn’t require a historical template to validate his existence. A highly distinct, brilliantly vivid legend was slowly, definitively taking shape.

Operating on a slight delay, Crofty finally realized his gaze was entirely, obsessively tracking the Number 22 car. Kai, operating within the rain, was... fundamentally different.

It was a quality that was incredibly difficult to accurately articulate using human language, but it was undeniably, objectively a completely different reality.

For years, the paddock had continuously, universally praised Hamilton as the undisputed wet-weather grandmaster, the absolute vanguard of the current active grid. But watching Kai soar with absolute, unrestricted freedom through the freezing rain, the Ferrari red painting a majestic, epic masterpiece across the Silverstone circuit... the visual was so profoundly intoxicating it was impossible to escape.

—Silverstone no longer shined exclusively for Lewis Hamilton.

A terrifying, massive thought violently crashed into his brain. The exact microsecond Crofty consciously registered it, it struck his heart with devastating force. He involuntarily inhaled a massive, sharp breath of freezing air. Yet, his eyes were fundamentally incapable of tearing themselves away from that blazing streak of Ferrari red. It was an objective reality that nineteen other cars were currently operating on the circuit. Yet, they had all completely vanished from his perception. His heart was continuously, rhythmically beating in perfect synchronization with the majestic trajectory of the Number 22 car.

And it wasn’t just Crofty.

Hamilton was also gradually, viscerally beginning to realize the terrifying truth. He was executing a massive, full-scale campaign of psychological pressure, yet his opponent wasn’t registering the pressure. He was aggressively, relentlessly attempting to force a catastrophic error, yet his opponent was merely absorbing the pressure and converting it into fuel.

The red chassis remained so incredibly, terrifyingly stable amidst the water mist it bordered on absolute cruelty. The steering inputs were microscopic, razor-sharp, and flawlessly precise. The throttle application curve was perfectly straight, resembling a highly taut, unbreakable thread of silk.

Corner entry, corner exit. Braking, throttle. The erratically flashing taillights guided the way through the dense cyan mist, appearing exactly like the rhythmic heartbeat of the freezing drizzle itself. Silverstone, bathed in the storm, had officially awakened. It was radiating a brilliant, entirely new vitality.

Hamilton involuntarily experienced a terrifying, deeply unsettling illusion. Kai, operating within the rain, appeared to be his true, absolute, ultimate form.

Was that actually, genuinely mathematically possible?

For three continuous, grueling laps, Hamilton had operated at absolute, maximum hyper-focus. He had emptied his entire arsenal of elite techniques. He had utilized every single ounce of his capability to manufacture massive, crushing pressure amidst the rain. Yet, the time delta separating him from Kai absolutely refused to fully expand. It stubbornly, agonizingly hovered between one and two seconds. He had fundamentally, completely failed to locate a single, genuine vulnerability or functional opening.

In a daze, his hyper-focused concentration began to subtly, terrifyingly unravel amidst the water mist. Hamilton viscerally felt the rhythm lasso slowly, agonizingly slipping through his fingers. The absolute initiative governing their secondary rhythm war was actively, violently breaking free of his control. The highly sophisticated strategic maneuvers that had consistently, flawlessly succeeded against every other driver on the grid were currently producing absolutely zero tangible progress against Kai. As a direct consequence, the vastly experienced, legendary Hamilton suddenly, terrifyingly experienced a fleeting microsecond of profound bewilderment and deep confusion.

So, exactly what the hell was he supposed to do?

Doubt. A microscopic seed of hesitation sprouted. But Hamilton violently, ruthlessly crushed it.

He absolutely could not afford to question himself. The microscopic emergence of doubt is the absolute genesis of a total confidence collapse. If his confidence wavered, his ultimate defeat was mathematically guaranteed before the wheel-to-wheel dogfight even truly commenced.

Inhale. Exhale.

And then, repeat the process. Within the microscopic interval of adjusting his respiration, his fighting spirit violently re-ignited. His battle intent skyrocketed. Hamilton’s perfectly straight, rock-solid spine straightened even further—

The absolute only methodology to shatter terror is to confront it head-on. The absolute only methodology to eradicate doubt is to aggressively charge directly into the teeth of the storm.

Having survived an endless array of catastrophic storms and massive challenges throughout his legendary career, Hamilton absolutely would not allow himself to sink into despair. He would calmly, resolutely welcome the challenge, utilizing undeniable, concrete actions to violently reclaim his glory.

Therefore, let them unleash an absolute, uninhibited bloodbath!

The absolute focus of the entire global audience was locked in.

On one front: The secondary group, spearheaded by Leclerc, had successfully transitioned to Intermediates. They were executing a ferocious, relentless pursuit. They were actively, aggressively attempting to fully exploit their massive tire advantage to completely overturn the board. Their overall lap rhythm was significantly, terrifyingly faster. Although Bottas was currently hunting Leclerc, and Verstappen was actively hunting Bottas... the average rhythm of all three drivers was virtually identical. They were collectively, unanimously unleashing 100% of their capability to violently hunt down the leaders. For the time being, absolutely zero overtaking opportunities had materialized among the trio.

Conversely, Albon, who had executed his pit stop a full lap later, had completely failed to synchronize with the rhythm. He had been instantly, brutally dropped from the pack.

On the other front: The high-stakes rhythm war between Kai and Hamilton remained a brutal, bayonets-drawn, entirely uncompromising standoff. Both drivers were putting an absolute, masterful display of elite wet-weather racecraft on display. Despite stubbornly refusing to abandon their slicks, their unparalleled, breathtaking driving capabilities allowed them to maintain a terrifyingly stable rhythm. Despite the massive, highly aggressive pursuit rapidly closing in from behind, they stubbornly, ruthlessly commanded the absolute, undivided focus of the entire global audience. The overlapping waves of gasps and profound admiration radiating from the grandstands were completely, totally unstoppable.

Every single lap they completed generated an entirely new wave of profound shock—

Still hasn’t pitted!

Still hasn’t pitted!

They’ve stubbornly refused to pit, yet they are miraculously maintaining competitive pace!

But the absolute, catastrophic problem was this: the competitive pace generated by Kai and Hamilton was currently being rapidly, violently chewed away by the secondary group. If they stubbornly insisted on remaining out on the asphalt and refused to box, the massive performance delta generated by the Intermediates would inevitably, mathematically catch them. When that microsecond arrived, they would be reduced to nothing more than helpless meat waiting on a chopping board. Confronted with the terrifying, high-speed assault spearheaded by Leclerc and his pursuers, they would possess absolutely zero chance of survival.

So, was this genuinely a functionally sound strategy? Had Kai and Hamilton completely lost their minds, engaging in a mutually assured destruction? Or did they possess absolute, unshakeable conviction that the rain was destined to stop momentarily?

However, analyzing the current atmospheric reality, the freezing rain showed absolutely zero signs of relenting.

Stapleton, her expression laced with profound concern, raised her head to stare at the sky. She froze in absolute shock—

Was that... the sun?
