F1: The Speed Legend

A sudden, intense energy surged through the crowd, sending a sharp wave of adrenaline through the onlookers along the barrier.

Maya Fortman finally snapped back to reality, letting out a deafening cheer before her brain could even process the moment.

Devon Powell flinched in genuine surprise, looking at Barbaro and Fortman in absolute disbelief. It was incredible how much raw excitement those two could generate, single-handedly lifting the energy of the surrounding crowd.

Turning around, Powell realized it wasn’t just them. A localized pocket of dedicated Ferrari fans had gathered tightly along the barrier, looking like a tiny boat in the middle of a massive ocean, riding the waves and facing the crowd with absolute pride.

The shared excitement was infectious, pulsing through the group.

Powell couldn’t hold back any longer. Throwing caution to the wind, he raised his fists and yelled with everything he had.

”Yeah!”

His shout blended into the massive wash of noise from the boulevard, a single drop in a vast ocean of sound, barely making a ripple on its own.

Yet wave after wave of energy rippled outward from their spot, catching the attention of the surrounding spectators.

The momentum was steady and continuous, spreading down the line.

Heads began to turn.

”Who’s that?”

”Is he a new actor? I haven’t seen his face before.”

”Is he some young billionaire’s kid?”

Even though his face was unfamiliar to the mainstream film crowd, whispers spread rapidly down the line. As people leaned in to exchange guesses, the crowd’s focus shifted like a rising tide.

Along the red carpet, a steady stream of Hollywood stars moved past the camera flashes, making it hard for the press to keep up.

Yet amidst the sea of standard black tuxedos and white shirts, that vibrant flash of Ferrari red caught every eye. A fresh, unfamiliar face was injecting an unexpected jolt of energy into the Marvel event, sparking endless theories among the spectators.

”Shang-Chi! Yes! Shang-Chi! Didn’t Marvel announce that project for the next phase?”

”Have you heard about Eternals? Maybe he’s a new cast member for that.”

”Is Marvel finally introducing a major Asian hero?”

”He looks incredibly sharp!”

”I heard a rumor he’s another Spider-Man variant from a multiverse project. Imagine seeing him share a frame with Tom Holland!”

As the theories multiplied, the excitement grew louder, buzzing through the crowd like electricity.

Right at that second, the figure who had been standing calmly by the classic 275 GTB finally moved, stepping up the entrance stairs with an easy, fluid grace that brought the look to life.

The group of Ferrari supporters let out a sudden, deafening shout, waving their red team caps and lanyards in a sea of vibrant color that matched the warm orange twilight glowing over Hollywood.

Their energy was completely infectious, spreading outward until the surrounding film fans joined in, cheering at the top of their lungs without even knowing who they were shouting for.

The camera shutters started clicking immediately as the flashbulbs strobed.

Photographers reacted purely on instinct, their fingers hitting the triggers before their brains could process who was walking up the steps.

Who was this?

A small group of press delegates recognized Kai immediately. They had received the media brief that the newly crowned F1 world champion was making an appearance at the Spider-Man premiere, but few had given it much thought. With dozens of A-list stars scheduled to arrive, a grand prix driver wasn’t expected to command primary media attention.

Yet for the majority of the Hollywood press corps, his face was entirely new.

It was an unfamiliar Asian face stepping onto a major red carpet, raising endless questions among the press pack.

Yet the photographers relied on pure muscle memory, their hands reacting faster than their analytical minds.

Recognizing him or not, the visual impact was undeniable, and they responded by hitting their camera shutters in unison.

A steady wave of camera flashes lit up the walkway.

As the press pack adjusted to the glare and caught a clear look at the tailored red silhouette moving calmly up the carpet, a quiet shock settled over the photo line.

Even surrounded by Hollywood royalty, he commanded total visual focus. For a brief second, several photographers froze mid-motion, their minds trying to process the sheer visual impact of the moment.

Then, muscle memory kicked back in.

The camera shutters went wild.

The rapid clicking gathered into a rhythmic wave of sound that echoed through the entrance, matching the energy of the crowd. The warm evening air felt charged as the flashbulbs created a cascade of light, dragging the Chinese Theatre and Hollywood Boulevard directly into the center of a red-hued media frenzy.

Until Kai paused once more.

Looking out over the photo line, observing a wall of camera lenses snapping away without a single shouted question or scripted prompt, he offered a calm, effortless smile.

Then, he gave a simple, relaxed wave.

The crowd exploded.

A massive roar broke out from the fans along the barriers, releasing a wave of pure excitement.

The entire concourse went wild.

Nicolas Todt tightened his fist in absolute professional satisfaction, a triumphant grin breaking across his face.

Lorenzo Moretti could hardly believe what he was seeing. Watching the crowd’s reaction, he turned to the agent, thoroughly bewildered. ”...Do any of these people actually know who Kai is?”

Nicolas laughed out loud. ”Recognizing his driving record isn’t the point, Lorenzo. What matters is that Kai made a massive visual impact and left a permanent footprint on this event.”

”By tomorrow morning, every entertainment column in town will be asking, ’Who was the unexpected star at the premiere?’ That means our Los Angeles deployment is an absolute success.”

It was a bold, high-risk play, but the execution was flawless, exceeding their best expectations.

Lorenzo stood there, taking it in. Once he thought about it calmly, he realized this was vintage Kai. It matched what had happened back in Rome, his initial arrival at Maranello, and his first press briefing in the paddock. Even when no one recognized him initially, he always managed to leave an unforgettable impression on his own terms.

Lorenzo shook his head with a dry smile. ”I seriously hope Kai doesn’t get any wild ideas about pursuing an acting career in Hollywood.”

Nicolas burst into a loud laugh, clapping his hands together.

When Chris Hemsworth arrived outside the Chinese Theatre, he could hear the massive roar of the crowd from a block away, easing some of his internal tension.

His manager turned around from the front seat, noticing that Hemsworth still looked somewhat reluctant, clearly dissatisfied with the evening’s arrangements.

The manager moved to reassure him. ”See? I told you. The fans are eager for your presence. They need you here. This is your moment to take control of the narrative. Once Disney sees this reaction, they’ll know exactly who should lead the next phase of the Marvel universe.”

Hemsworth let out a slow breath. ”I’m already here, so you can stop running the pitch.”

”This is my moment, and I intend to take it. Trust me, I deliver when it counts.”

Adjusting his jacket and straightening his posture, Hemsworth flashed his signature bright smile, displaying a polished, camera-ready look. He was completely prepared.

The black Mercedes transport pulled smoothly up to the drop-off point at the edge of the red carpet.

...

Chris Hemsworth had been frustrated with Disney and Marvel Studios all summer, feeling his contribution to the franchise wasn’t being properly valued.

With Avengers: Endgame concluding the main storyline, the studio had to establish a new leadership core. Robert Downey Jr. had officially stepped away from the Iron Man role, bidding a permanent farewell to the Marvel universe, forcing Disney to locate a new central figure to anchor the franchise.

Captain America actor Chris Evans was their primary target.

The issue was that Evans seemed hesitant to commit to a long-term contract extension. He remained non-committal about anchoring the next phase of films, leading to drawn-out, stalled negotiations.

Disney, usually decisive in its talent management, was showing rare hesitation.

Hemsworth’s management team saw an immediate opening, pitching a contract extension for Hemsworth to continue playing Thor. They suggested Disney build the next generation of ensemble films around the character, shifting Iron Man’s narrative importance onto Thor to drive the franchise forward.

Yet Disney had delayed its response.

That hesitation deeply annoyed Hemsworth. He had been an enthusiastic partner, yet the studio was dragging its feet.

Frustrated by the delay, Hemsworth had casually mentioned in an interview that he was prepared to move on from the Thor role and explore new acting opportunities.

That comment alarmed Disney executives, who worried about losing another original Avenger in quick succession. They moved to reassure Hemsworth, yet they still hesitated to formally offer him the central leadership role for the next phase.

That unresolved dynamic left Hemsworth deeply frustrated.

To make matters worse, Disney had asked him to make a promotional appearance at the Spider-Man: Far From Home premiere.

It was an obvious play. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson had all declined to attend the event, leaving Disney scrambling to bring in established talent to boost the red carpet lineup.

Hemsworth hadn’t wanted to attend. With the other primary stars skipping the event, he felt like a backup option.

Yet his manager had ultimately convinced him. ”This is your strategic opening!”

With the other major Avengers absent, Hemsworth would stand as the primary star of the carpet, outshining even the core cast. Demonstrating his massive personal fan appeal would force Disney to recognize his true value to the franchise.

Instead of waiting on Evans’ decision, Disney would be motivated to lock in a new deal with a willing lead actor.

Handled properly, the appearance could anchor Hemsworth as the primary face of the next phase, substantially raising his career leverage and contract value.

Hemsworth had accepted the logic.

A single red-carpet appearance to redefine his career standing and force the studio’s hand was a smart move.

Even so, the underlying frustration lingered. His loyalty and commercial value hadn’t received the immediate recognition he felt they deserved, leaving a lingering bitterness beneath his professional demeanor.

Taking a deep breath, he focused on the job. He was going to prove his value to the studio and the fans alike.

The transport door opened, and a wave of heat and sound hit him: loud cheers, enthusiastic shouts, and a wall of flashing camera lights.

It was an environment Hemsworth managed effortlessly. Straightening his suit, he put on a polished smile and scanned the crowd along the barriers.

Yet something felt subtly off.

Hemsworth squinted slightly, taking in the scene outside the Chinese Theatre, only to notice that the main wall of camera lenses wasn’t pointing in his direction.

The massive wall of noise wasn’t directed at his arrival either. The flashbulbs were firing wildly further up the walkway, creating a wall of light that wrapped around a figure positioned ahead of him on the carpet.

Hemsworth froze slightly.

Old memories from past press tours surfaced instantly.

During ensemble press events, the primary attention had always flowed toward Robert Downey Jr. first, then Chris Evans, before reaching the rest of the cast. He had always shared the media spotlight with Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, or Tom Hiddleston.

Was that happening here too?

Disney had brought him in to support the premiere, not to play second fiddle to another guest.

A spike of genuine annoyance hit him.

Who was up ahead?

Jeremy Renner? Paul Rudd? Elizabeth Olsen? Or Chadwick Boseman?

How could any of them trigger a crowd reaction that intense, drawing the entire press pack away from his arrival?

Hemsworth held his composure with an effort, unwilling to show irritation before the cameras. He had a friendly, accessible public image to maintain.

Yet his posture was visibly tight, his shoulders and back rigid as he held himself straight. A single wrong move could break his calm exterior, and he wasn’t entirely sure how he would react.

Taking a slow breath, Hemsworth looked down the red carpet, spotting a tall, well-proportioned figure dressed in a bold, tailored red suit. He caught a partial glimpse of the man’s profile, but searching his memory yielded zero results.

Who was that?

Before his analytical mind could process the situation, Hemsworth stepped forward, pushing through his frustration to march down the carpet directly toward the red-suited figure.

”Chris!”

A few fans along the barrier finally noticed Hemsworth. At six-foot-two, with an athletic build and long blonde hair, his sudden arrival down the carpet caught their attention, drawing a wave of recognition.

”Chris!”

The cheers picked up as fans recognized him.

Photographers along the line turned their lenses toward the arriving star, hitting their shutters as he moved into frame.

Hemsworth was wearing a tailored black suit without a shirt underneath, wearing only a vest beneath his jacket to display his physique. It was a bold look designed to command immediate visual attention.

The camera flashes strobed as the press pack captured his arrival, the summer evening buzzing with noise.

Yet Hemsworth barely registered the photographers, his focus locked entirely on the figure ahead. He wanted to reclaim the visual focus of the carpet, re-establish his standing at the event, and demonstrate his true value to the studio reps watching the feed.

Closing the distance in a few quick strides, Hemsworth stepped up directly behind the young man in red. His frustration cut through his professional filter, his voice carrying an unscripted, blunt tone.

”Who are you?”

It was a direct, impolite question, devoid of standard red-carpet courtesy. Despite trying to hide his annoyance, the irritation in his voice was obvious.

Kai turned around, looking at the large blonde actor in mild surprise. What was this guy so worked up about?

Hemsworth regretted the blunt opening the second the words left his mouth. On a public red carpet, maintaining basic social grace was mandatory for media management. Dropping his professional mask was a mistake, and he needed to recover his composure immediately.

Yet the regret vanished a second later, replaced by complete confusion.

Who was this guy?

He wasn’t even Tom Holland!

Why was he here? More importantly, why was he triggering a crowd reaction that rivaled an ensemble release, turning the Chinese Theatre into a wall of noise? What had he missed? Was any random guest allowed to capture the main spotlight now?

Hemsworth paused, momentarily thrown off.

The young man before him offered a calm, polite nod, extending his hand with complete composure. ”Kai.”

That was it?

No title, no career explanation, no contextual background—just a single name. Who on earth was Kai?

Kai continued smoothly. ”It’s a pleasure to meet you. What’s your name?”

Hemsworth had been preparing a polished media smile, but the question made his expression freeze instantly.

Was this guy serious?

Attending a major Marvel premiere and claiming not to recognize Chris Hemsworth? Was he intentionally playing dumb to throw him off?

”Are you one of the actors in the film?” Kai asked, looking up at the six-foot-two actor. Standing before Hemsworth’s muscular frame, Kai looked visibly leaner, creating a clear contrast in physical presence.

Yet Kai showed zero hesitation. His calm, level posture kept him entirely grounded, projecting an effortless confidence that held the space. ”My apologies if I missed your credits. With an athletic build like that, you’re obviously talent rather than production crew. Putting a frame like yours behind a desk would be a waste.”

A few subtle giggles broke out among the press line nearby.

The dynamic of the conversation had shifted completely into Kai’s hands.

If Hemsworth didn’t respond carefully, he risked looking foolish on camera.

Glancing down at Kai’s extended hand, which remained steady without a hint of awkwardness or hesitation, Hemsworth realized his own hesitation was making him look rigid and arrogant.

Biting back his annoyance, Hemsworth put on a polite smile, reaching out to shake Kai’s hand. ”Chris Hemsworth. I’m an actor, yes. It seems I need to expand my global press footprint if my face isn’t immediately recognizable.”

Kai smiled, shaking his head gently. ”No need to worry about that. I’m hardly your primary target demographic, so my recognition isn’t a useful metric.”

A few photographers along the photo line laughed out loud. Was Kai dryly implying that Hemsworth relied primarily on his looks rather than dramatic depth?

A pulse beat at Hemsworth’s temple, but he held his composure with an effort. ”You dressed up in an all-red tailored suit for a major film premiere,” he noted, looking Kai up and down to land a subtle counter-punch, ”yet you don’t recognize the main cast members?”

He was subtly pointing out that Kai was using the event for personal visibility without showing basic familiarity with the film’s cast.

It was a clever attempt to flip the narrative.

Hemsworth looked down at Kai, a faint, competitive smirk appearing at the corner of his mouth.

Yet Kai remained completely unbothered, looking up with an expression of mild surprise. ”Oh, so you play Spider-Man?”

A few journalists muffled a laugh.

”My apologies,” Kai added smoothly, his tone entirely sincere. ”The promotional posters show the character fully masked, and modern heroes don’t leave their faces exposed like classic Superman, so identifying the actor under the suit is tricky. Please excuse my oversight.”

”Mind you, you look significantly larger in person than the character appears on the posters. The physical transformation for the role must be intense. What about the height difference? Did the production crew use forced perspective tricks like they did for the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings?”

A wave of genuine laughter erupted down the press line. Photographers and casual observers alike couldn’t hold back their amusement, the scene turning completely lighthearted.

Hemsworth stood there, unable to decide whether to correct him or let it drop.

Looking at Kai’s entirely sincere expression, he couldn’t tell if the young man was delivering a brilliant, dry satire or if he was genuinely clueless about Hollywood actors.

Before Hemsworth could formulate a response, Kai stepped forward, offering a brief, polite embrace. ”It’s an honor to attend the screening tonight. I’m genuinely looking forward to the film.”

Hemsworth stood frozen for a second.

He forced a tight smile. ”I don’t play Spider-Man.”

Kai’s eyes widened slightly. ”Oh.”

A simple single-word response, followed by complete silence.

Hemsworth found himself unable to deliver his prepared explanation. Explaining his actual role now would sound defensive and self-important.

Kai offered a warm, encouraging smile. ”Well, I’m sure you deliver a fantastic performance regardless. It would be a shame for a physical presence like yours to go unnoticed by the audience. Keep pushing!”

Hemsworth felt a pulse of sheer frustration, completely unable to determine if he was being dryly mocked or genuinely encouraged.

More importantly, if it was sarcasm, how on earth was he supposed to counter it without looking petty?

He stood there, completely out of moves.

To the surrounding press pack, the interaction presented a striking visual contrast:

Chris Hemsworth, the actor behind Thor, one of Hollywood’s most recognizable leading men, stood there looking strangely out of place.

Despite his taller, muscular frame, his posture looked rigid and awkward. Despite his bold, shirt-less suit styling, his presence felt completely overshadowed by the young man standing beside him. Despite his years of navigating high-profile press lines, he looked thoroughly thrown off his game.

The visual contrast was absolute.

Beside him, Kai looked completely in his element.

It wasn’t just the tailored red suit; it was his calm, effortless presence that anchored the scene. His natural, dry humor had completely reframed the interaction, capturing the absolute focus of every camera along the carpet.

In that brief exchange, Hemsworth seemed to fade into a black-and-white background, looking like a static figure stuck in place, while Kai radiated a bright, intense energy that commanded total attention.

The surrounding crowd noise gradually settled, the sound of camera flashes giving way to a focused quiet along the press line.

Then Kai offered a bright, clean smile. ”My apologies for taking up your media time. I’m simply a guest here tonight, and the press line belongs to the cast. Allow me to step aside so you can enjoy your moment in the spotlight.”

”It was a genuine pleasure meeting you. I’ll be supporting your work!”

Giving Hemsworth a brief, encouraging nod, Kai bowed politely, stepped back, and turned to walk down the remaining length of the carpet.

He simply walked away.

Hemsworth was left standing alone at the drop-off point, completely bewildered, his mind racing to process what had just happened.

What had just transpired? Where was he supposed to look now?

His thoughts were a complete mess, a knot of frustration tightening in his chest. He knew his arrival had been completely derailed, but he had zero idea how to counter it on camera. The entire exchange had taken place live on a public red carpet in broad daylight.

How was that even possible?

The young stranger had completely dominated the interaction, leaving Hemsworth looking like an incidental bystander on his own press line.

He stood there frozen, watching Kai’s red-suited figure move smoothly down the carpet, completely unable to react.

Wait, what was that guy’s name again?

”Kai!”

A high-volume shout cut through the barrier noise. Hemsworth flinched slightly, looking toward the source of the sound.

Monica Barbaro had stepped up to the metal barrier, cupping her hands around her mouth as she shouted with everything she had.

”You are hands down the most stunning person on this carpet!”

The sudden, loud declaration echoed through the momentary quiet, making Hemsworth’s face burn with immediate embarrassment.

Kai paused mid-stride, searching the crowd until he spotted Barbaro along the fence line. A realization clicked: their casual joke in the hotel lobby had actually played out in real life.

Turning around, Kai offered a wide, brilliant smile to Barbaro and her friends. He raised two fingers to his temple in a sharp, effortless salute.

Bold, confident, and completely at ease.

He accepted the praise without a hint of hesitation.

The warm, orange California twilight caught his profile, outlining his sharp silhouette against the crowd, the vibrant red of his suit commanding the entire visual space.

Barbaro stood there staring at the image, her heart pounding against her ribs.

Photographers hit their shutters simultaneously, capturing the moment forever.

A barrage of camera flashes lit up the walkway, but before the light could fade, a massive wave of cheering erupted from the fan section along the barrier.

The energy swept down the line as Fortman and Powell cheered along with the rest of the Ferrari supporters.

The group of red caps formed a vibrant focal point along the fence, their enthusiasm spreading to the casual spectators nearby until the entire section was cheering.

The crowd was completely captivated by the moment.

Press photographers along the red carpet continued shooting at a frantic pace. Even with Hemsworth standing nearby, their lenses stayed locked on the red-suited driver, capturing every angle of his departure.

Having an established Hollywood star standing in the frame as a secondary figure only amplified the visual impact of Kai’s entrance.

A distinct realization settled over the press line: they were witnessing the arrival of a major global icon.

Watching the scene unfold from the media enclosure, Nicolas Todt let out a long, slow breath, his tight shoulders finally relaxing as he turned to look at Lorenzo.

Lorenzo gave him a dry, knowing look.

Patting Nicolas on the shoulder, Lorenzo offered a light smile. ”You should have a little more faith in Kai. Handling an environment like this is second nature to him.”

When Hemsworth had initially marched up to Kai with an aggressive posture, Nicolas’s heart had almost stopped. The agent wanted to generate digital traffic, but he had no desire to trigger a public feud with a major Hollywood talent and turn the studio against them.

Under the original plan, Nicolas had arranged a simple media sequence: Kai would walk the carpet, engage in a brief, scripted interview with a fashion magazine editor, and then quietly introduce himself to a few cast members for a quick photo opportunity. That would have provided enough content for the secondary news feeds: F1 World Champion Attends Hollywood Premiere.

It would have been a conservative, controlled introduction, providing enough material for rival press outlets to claim Kai was ”distracted by off-track fame.” Nicolas could then quietly amplify those columns from behind the scenes to complete Phase Two of their strategy.

Hemsworth’s unscripted intervention had been a total wildcard.

Chris Hemsworth was an established A-list talent, not a secondary actor who could be easily managed.

Nicolas had been genuinely worried, knowing that an unscripted confrontation on a live red carpet could easily derail their entire PR layout.

Yet Lorenzo had remained entirely calm, assuring the agent that Kai possessed the baseline poise to handle any sudden variable.

Looking at the quiet, orderly scene on the carpet now, Nicolas realized Lorenzo had been right all along. Kai had managed the interaction with complete authority, making it look effortless.

Nicolas took a moment to compose himself, his analytical mind already pivoting to the next tactical step.

Their objective in Los Angeles was to generate massive media noise, and with this unexpected interaction, they had been handed a major asset. Kai had handled the carpet masterfully, but directing the subsequent narrative required immediate media management.

Nicolas didn’t know if Hemsworth’s team had planned the initial approach, but he knew they hadn’t anticipated the outcome. Kai’s composure had caught them completely off guard.

Now was the time to capture the initiative.

Nicolas went straight to work on his device. Even without his intervention, media tags regarding Kai’s red-carpet appearance were already trending under the official premiere hashtag.

The digital traffic was surging.

Within minutes, targeted topics began popping up across major networks: Kai Makes Hollywood Debut, F1 Champion Commands Red Carpet, and Kai Interacts with Thor. The initial commentary was overwhelmingly positive.

The press hadn’t anticipated such a striking entrance from a grand prix driver, nor had they expected him to hold his own so naturally alongside a major Hollywood star. His effortless humor had injected real energy into an otherwise standard studio event, providing a highlight before the main cast had even arrived.

The coverage was exceptional.

”Who expected Kai to command the carpet like that?”

”From the grand prix circuit to the Chinese Theatre, he carries absolute presence.”

”True star appeal is impossible to hide. The paddock was clearly too small for his footprint.”

The digital footprint was expanding rapidly, with Kai’s unexpected appearance capturing the primary focus under the film’s official tag.

And this was only the opening sector.

Finishing his immediate media drops, Nicolas took a deep breath, his neck and shoulder muscles tight from the quick work, though his focus remained sharp.

Scanning the venue to locate Kai, he found the driver without any trouble—every eye along the perimeter was pointing toward the same spot.

Nicolas paused, looking surprised. ”Wait... when did that happen?”

Lorenzo looked on with a completely relaxed expression. ”If I told you she approached Kai on her own initiative, would you believe me?”

It was a repeat of what had happened at that lounge in Rome years ago, where people were naturally drawn to Kai’s presence. The scene playing out on the carpet was no different.

Standing beside Kai, deeply engaged in a warm, animated conversation, was Elizabeth Olsen.
