F1: The Speed Legend

A 1:25.172—temporary P2.

Leclerc, pushing his machine to the absolute limit under the crushing pressure of his second flying lap in Q3, successfully delivered a completely unbelievable time.

Not only did he shatter his personal best at Silverstone, but he also violently leaped past Hamilton and Verstappen. Trailing only Bottas’s seemingly untouchable lap time, he momentarily held second place. This successfully sustained the brilliant upward trajectory he had established since Monaco, instantly detonating the intense, hostile tension between Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz.

A massive uproar!

This specific outcome was completely unexpected. Ferrari hadn’t merely comprehensively suppressed Red Bull; they were now legitimately threatening Mercedes-Benz’s absolute dominance.

The chaotic landscape of the British Grand Prix weekend had been violently reshuffled once again!

”Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!” Adami completely lost his battle for self-control, clenching his fists and shouting enthusiastically over the radio. The entire Ferrari pit garage erupted into pure bedlam.

Leclerc let out a long, heavy exhale. ”Ah!” he screamed, venting his frustration. ”AHHHHH!” The restrictive, frustrating shackles that had plagued his run since Q1 had finally been violently shattered.

”Temporary P2. Charles! That was a spectacular lap!” Adami cheered.

After a brief microsecond of pure joy, Leclerc rapidly regained his focus. ”Where is Kai?”

”He’s currently navigating Club Corner.”

The intense commotion, chaos, and surging adrenaline were entirely temporary. Whether it was Mercedes-Benz or Ferrari, both organizations immediately reined in their emotions, locking their focus entirely back onto the asphalt.

Red Bull was absolutely no exception.

With Verstappen and Albon both currently provisional row-mates behind Leclerc, Red Bull was officially languishing at the bottom of the ’Big Three’ hierarchy. Horner’s mood was undeniably foul. However, because three cars on the grid had still not completed their final flying laps, Red Bull’s ultimate starting positions for Sunday remained completely up in the air. There was absolutely zero time to waste on frustration or self-pity.

Turn 18: Club. The final long corner of the circuit. The absolute final opportunity, carrying the absolute maximum risk—

Patience.

Composure. Absolute focus. Meticulous execution. He absolutely could not afford to be greedy. He could not afford to rush.

Kai’s mind was operating with hyper-focused clarity. This specific phase wasn’t designed for a violent explosion of raw power; it was entirely about systematic confirmation. Confirming the steering angle, confirming the rear tires, and flawlessly calibrating the exact microsecond to strike. Only when every single variable harmonized perfectly could he successfully lock into the optimal rhythm.

He didn’t rush to mash the throttle. He intentionally delayed the power application slightly, waiting patiently until the steering wheel had unspooled and the rear tires were perfectly planted against the asphalt—

The microsecond arrived!

Throttle, pinned completely to the floor.

The undulating, twisting ribbons of asphalt aggressively straightened out. A small, sweeping incline materialized in his visor, exactly like pushing open a massive window, slowly revealing the magnificent panorama of the main grandstands and the crowded pit walls. The howling gale and violent turbulence were transformed into fluid currents, cleanly parting to clear a path along both sides of the chassis. The entire world morphed into a brilliant, bleeding blur of light.

Whoosh—

He blasted past.

To the naked eye, it was virtually impossible to capture the physical reality of the Number 22 car. Retinas could only process a brilliant, elongated scarlet streak tearing through space, leaving a lingering, shimmering wake of aerodynamic turbulence quietly dissipating in the cold air.

Thump. Thump.

Terrified hearts hammered violently against ribs. Stapleton stood completely rigid, her body locked in intense suspense, staring unblinkingly at the timing monitor mounted outside the pit lane exit.

The entire universe hit the pause button.

”P1: 1:25.093, Bottas.” ”P1: 1:25.093, Kai.”

Stapleton instantly clapped her hands over her mouth, desperately trying to suffocate the massive gasp of pure shock and ecstatic joy building in her throat.

The broadcast booth completely flatlined. Crofty’s eyes went wide as saucers. He was forced to verify the data three consecutive times before he could trust his eyes.

”Kai has just delivered a lap time perfectly identical to Valtteri Bottas!”

The exact microsecond the exclamation burst from his throat, a massive shockwave of pure adrenaline surged through his boiling blood, causing his entire body to tremble uncontrollably.

”Good god!”

”During his very first flying lap in Q3, Bottas unleashed a phenomenal performance that shattered the absolute track record, establishing a towering benchmark that looked entirely untouchable. Even Hamilton was forced to engage in a desperate, agonizing pursuit.”

”Yet! Despite the odds! Miraculously!”

”Kai has successfully delivered the exact same lap time! Precise down to the absolute thousandth of a second!”

”Whoa—”

”This is truly mind-blowing!”

”Now, the ultimate resolution of this session rests entirely in the hands of the two Mercedes-Benz cars—the only entity on earth capable of defeating Mercedes-Benz is Mercedes-Benz themselves.”

The visceral shock of the moment completely defied simple verbal description.

Kai had undeniably secured a Pole Position in Bahrain earlier this season. But to be brutally frank, the paddock had universally dismissed that performance as a solitary, freak explosion of pace. Following the introduction of Ferrari’s initial update package, their single-lap Qualifying competitiveness had suffered a massive, visible regression.

Initially, the elite technical analysts had responded with intense mockery, firmly convinced that Ferrari had actively crippled their own weaponry. But those critics rapidly realized how incredibly shortsighted their analysis truly was. Ferrari had explicitly abandoned Qualifying pace to obsessively optimize their long-run Race setups, relying entirely on strategic execution and the sheer, raw brilliance of their drivers to fight on Sunday—

And the strategy had yielded spectacular results. Kai had comfortably claimed the ultimate prize in Shanghai and Monaco, while Leclerc had come heartbreakingly close to a magnificent coronation in Austria.

It was precisely under this specific strategic backdrop that the British Grand Prix weekend had commenced. Ferrari, having debuted their second massive upgrade package, had looked deeply strange and completely incomprehensible throughout the Free Practice sessions, entirely baffling the paddock.

But evaluating those sessions retroactively... had Ferrari been quietly, meticulously incubating this devastating Qualifying pace all along? Had they successfully resurrected their raw single-lap speed to match their dominant long-run pace? Was Ferrari officially fully prepared to launch a massive, full-scale counter-offensive?

No one should dare underestimate the sheer magnitude of Kai’s achievement. A 1:25.093. Although he technically shared an identical lap time with Bottas, when you analyzed that figure through the lens of the current season’s competitive trajectory, juxtaposing the raw aerodynamic profiles of the W10 and the SF90, the true, terrifying brilliance of Kai’s extraction became glaringly obvious.

This was especially true considering Leclerc had just delivered a highly impressive 1:25.172.

A single stone had been dropped into a peaceful lake, and the resulting ripples simply refused to stop expanding.

Even Crofty was left completely speechless. He finally, viscerally understood that the sudden flash of inspiration he had experienced during Sector 2 hadn’t been an illusion. It was an objective reality. Although Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz prioritized fundamentally different performance profiles across the various sectors, the two organizations were now officially standing on the exact same baseline.

This...!

Crofty’s immediate reflex was to snap his head around to look at Brundle, desperately searching for validation, a response, or most critically, an analytical explanation.

Had Brundle flawlessly foreseen this miracle all along?

Brundle, however, remained characteristically, brutally honest. ”It appears Ferrari arrived at Silverstone carrying a few massive surprises. We have just witnessed yet another classic display of Kai’s magic.”

Although Brundle had accurately detected the intense focus hidden behind Ferrari’s lackadaisical Free Practice times, he ultimately hadn’t been able to predict this specific, explosive outcome.

A surprise! An absolute, spectacular surprise!

Absolutely no one could state with absolute certainty whether Silverstone would serve as the definitive turning point of the championship campaign. But without a shadow of a doubt, Sunday’s Grand Prix was going to be an exceptionally entertaining spectacle. Red Bull’s long-run race pace potential and highly aggressive strategic execution remained a massive threat that could not be ignored. And given the massive, tangible progress Ferrari was currently demonstrating, exactly what kind of spectacles would they unleash during the race?

Utilizing an unparalleled display of skill, Kai had meticulously extracted 100% of the SF90’s performance ceiling. Even if the raw engineering of the chassis remained subtly inferior to the W10, the driver operating behind the steering wheel was successfully erasing the deficit, violently overturning the board.

A genuine smile broke across Brundle’s face. He didn’t offer an extensive technical monologue. ”Right now, the crushing, suffocating weight of the pressure has officially shifted entirely to Mercedes-Benz.”

Out on the asphalt, the final two cars on the grid were deep within their final flying laps. A few spectators in the grandstands desperately tried to initiate a chant to support their driver, but their voices were instantly, completely swallowed by the visceral roar of the engines. The entire crowd involuntarily stopped breathing, their eyes locked unblinkingly onto the two Silver Arrows navigating the final corner sequence.

”Valtteri Bottas!”

”Oh, wow! Bottas fails to improve upon his provisional time!”

”The data clearly demonstrates that Bottas’s initial flying lap in Q3 had already effectively pushed the chassis to the absolute, ragged edge of its performance limits. Is it truly physically possible for a Mercedes-Benz to breach the 1:24 barrier today?”

”Lewis Hamilton!”

It wasn’t just the broadcast booth, and it wasn’t just the grandstands. The collective, burning focus of the entire paddock was concentrated exclusively on that single silver car.

Toto Wolff’s muscles were rigidly, painfully tense. Every single ounce of corporate expectation and fanatical hope was resting squarely on the shoulders of the Number 44 car. He secretly clenched his fists with absolute force.

Under the blinding glare of the global spotlight, the intense scrutiny was sharp enough to practically ignite the air. The Number 44 car violently tore across the starting straight, blasting past at terminal velocity.

Time temporarily flatlined. Every single breath in the venue was violently severed—

1:25.099.

The data materialized on the timing screens. Hamilton had fallen short by a microscopic 0.006 seconds. He had ultimately failed to bypass Bottas and Kai.

Qualifying Q3 was officially over.

The air solidified. Dead silence. Absolute tranquility. Thousands of pairs of wide, unblinking eyes stared intently at the monitors, desperately verifying the exact numbers trailing past the decimal point.

Upon a cursory glance, it looked exactly as if the pixels on the display screens were malfunctioning. A 0.093 and a 0.099 looked incredibly, dangerously similar. The initial instinct born in their brains was instant denial.

”There’s no way. Three consecutive times perfectly matching?”

And then, the final digit at the absolute tail end of Hamilton’s lap time permanently solidified on the timing graphics.

The vertical pixel on the left side of the box completed its configuration. The ’3’ officially became a ’9.’

The hyper-tightened, agonizingly taut nerves instantly unspooled. Yet, no one could make a sound. The collective spine of the crowd felt as though it had been violently extracted. Their bodies went completely soft, and they collapsed heavily back into their seats.

”[BEEP].”

Wolff ultimately lost his battle for self-control, a bitter curse escaping his lips—

And it absolutely wasn’t because he believed Ferrari had deployed a deceptive smokescreen during Free Practice.

At this exact microsecond, the seasoned professionals in the paddock could clearly read the reality. Ferrari had pushed themselves to the absolute, ultimate extreme in Q3. Both Kai and Leclerc had absorbed an unimaginably massive amount of pressure to deliver top-tier, limit-shattering performances. Their final, desperate do-or-die gambits had successfully extracted an almost illogical amount of pace from the chassis. Operating at that extreme zenith was a highly volatile anomaly that absolutely could not be easily replicated.

In other words, while the performances delivered by the two Ferrari drivers were undeniably brilliant and had successfully caused a massive cold sweat to ripple through Brackley, Mercedes-Benz technically didn’t need to panic regarding Ferrari’s long-run Race pace on Sunday.

The true, underlying source of his seething frustration was the stark contrast in execution. Kai and Leclerc, pinned against the wall by immense pressure, had successfully dug deep to unleash a reservoir of performance that didn’t even logically belong to the chassis, boldly launching a majestic challenge against the empire. Conversely, the execution delivered by the two Mercedes-Benz drivers under pressure was deeply, profoundly unsatisfactory—

The W10 possessed the absolute mechanical capability to comfortably drop into the 1:24 range today. Yet, when confronted with Ferrari’s aggressive, relentless assault, they had looked incredibly ragged, unstable, and desperate.

It felt exactly like a microscopic encapsulation of the entire 2019 season.

Furthermore, previously, they had only been forced to manage a single monster named Kai. Now, Leclerc had officially, completely closed the gap. The ’Ferrari Twin Stars’ were radiating a blinding light across Silverstone. The Italian legacy squad had effectively, violently transformed Silverstone into their own personal playground.

For God’s sake, Ferrari flatly refused to even establish a satellite corporate office in London!

Exactly which specific idiot had aggressively pushed the corporate narrative that pairing two highly competitive, hyper-talented young drivers together was guaranteed to result in an unmitigated disaster?

Had that idiot completely failed to realize that every single dynamic in the universe possesses a hidden duality? That forcing two brilliant, fiercely passionate young minds into an intense, close-quarters crucible possessed the raw potential to trigger a magnificent, hot-blooded explosion of pure excellence?

He fiercely reined in his temper, violently suppressing the urge to unleash another string of creative profanities. But his face remained an absolute mask of cold stone. Devoid of emotion. His piercing, icy eyes inspired absolute terror. No one dared to make direct eye contact with him. He looked exactly like Medusa.

If a seasoned, calculating operative like Wolff was completely failing to manage his frustration, the reaction of the partisan domestic crowd at Silverstone was exponentially worse—

They stared at each other in profound, bewildered shock, feeling entirely lost and abandoned.

Qualifying had officially concluded. In an incredibly rare, historic anomaly, Bottas and Kai had delivered identical lap times down to the absolute thousandth of a second—

1:25.093.

While this scenario was mathematically exceptional, it had historically occurred, and the FIA sporting regulations explicitly provided a clear protocol to resolve the deadlock: if two drivers set identical lap times in Q3, the driver who successfully recorded the time first is officially granted the higher position.

To summarize: Bottas claimed Pole Position. Kai secured P2.

However, for the fanatical domestic crowd, those bureaucratic technicalities were completely irrelevant. They didn’t matter in the slightest. The single, catastrophic reality that mattered was this: Hamilton had been relegated to third.

A microscopic deficit of 0.006 seconds had completely extinguished their cheers.

For a brief, agonizing moment, they honestly couldn’t decipher which specific reality was more depressing: losing to Kai, or being out-qualified by Bottas. But without a shadow of a doubt, losing to both Kai and Bottas simultaneously was an incredibly humiliating, profoundly frustrating pill to swallow.

They had barely finished witnessing Red Bull’s sudden resurgence in the previous race, and now, at their own absolute home circuit, they were facing a massive, unprecedented threat from Ferrari.

Everything was completely, utterly terrible!

Some fans stood frozen in the grandstands, their hands clutched tightly over their heads, staring unblinkingly at the massive video screens, flatly refusing to accept the objective reality playing out before them.

Others suffered a complete collapse, slumping heavily into their grandstand seats exactly like miserable goblins. They melted into a puddle of absolute despair, staring blankly at the sky with wide, expressionless eyes.

Some were aggressively shouting profanities. Others were openly weeping. A few desperate individuals loudly insisted that the timing screens were suffering a massive technological failure. A chaotic, rustling wave of pure despondency swept across the circuit. The crowd moved exactly like a massive swarm of headless flies. Their collective hearts had just taken a free-fall plunge from a height of a hundred thousand miles, violently smashing against the asphalt of the Hangar Straight.

And then—

In a tiny, isolated corner of a distant grandstand, a single spark of vibrant, brilliant scarlet red began to burn fiercely.

It appeared incredibly fragile, looking exactly as if a sudden gust of wind could effortlessly extinguish it. Yet, in defiance of its surroundings, it radiated an incredibly potent, fiercely arrogant energy. It cut through the gloom exactly like a brilliant ray of sunlight tearing through dense, heavy clouds, cleanly, ruthlessly monopolizing the absolute splendor of the Silverstone circuit. A single name echoed passionately through the air.

”Captain!”

One shout. Followed immediately by another.

”Captain!”

Stapleton stood perfectly straight, her head held high, chest thrust forward. She emptied her entire physical capacity into screaming the name with absolute passion. Exactly like young David fearlessly confronting the towering giant Goliath, she stood unyielding against the hostile storm.

Beside her, Bearman held his smartphone high in the air, capturing the magnificent spectacle on video. His face was split by a massive smile, his chest swelling with pure adrenaline as he enthusiastically joined her in shouting the chant.

On the other end of the line, Antonelli had buried his face entirely in his arms. A massive, uncontrollable wave of intense jealousy washed over him. His heart rhythmically tracked the audio drifting through his earpiece. One beat, then another. The heavy thumping sound felt exactly like the visceral resonance of the Silverstone circuit itself, mirroring the heavy pulse of blood pounding against his eardrums.

Kai had just finished celebrating with his mechanics in the pit lane. He unbuckled his helmet. He was preparing to head directly toward the mixed media zone when he caught the faint, distant sound of the chant drifting on the wind.

He paused his stride and looked toward the grandstands. Although the distance was massive, his sharp vision easily locked onto that tiny, isolated cluster of vibrant red.

Kai raised his right hand high into the air, offering a relaxed, deliberate wave to his supporters—

”AH! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

In an instant, the rhythmic chanting mutated into high-pitched, ecstatic screaming. It rolled across the circuit in a massive, thunderous wave. The asphalt beneath his feet subtly vibrated. The raw magnitude of that hot-blooded energy was terrifyingly apparent.

This was Silverstone. This was Hamilton’s absolute fortress. The British teams and British drivers commanded absolute allegiance, and the vast majority of the track staff were domestic. Yet, right here, in the absolute center of the empire, a crowd was losing its mind for Kai. This spectacular visual plunged the British media establishment, spearheaded by Sky Sports, into a state of profound shock. They genuinely questioned their own eyes.

The Netflix production crew didn’t hesitate for a fraction of a microsecond, violently swarming the area to focus their high-definition lenses directly onto that specific section of the grandstand.

”LEWIS!”

The partisan domestic crowd finally snapped out of their daze. Drawing upon their deep-rooted football culture, a massive, deafening roar erupted across Silverstone. The thunderous chant cleanly, ruthlessly swallowed absolutely all other ’noise,’ explicitly, aggressively reminding everyone present that this was the United Kingdom, this was Silverstone, and a certain Ferrari driver needed to shut his mouth and step aside.

The smile crept back onto Kai’s face.

He was completely, entirely unbothered. He turned around and immediately spotted Hamilton standing directly in front of a massive bank of media cameras. Hamilton’s expression was incredibly stern. Devoid of any smiles.

Click—Click-click-click—

Although an absolute, unbridgeable chasm separated Kai and Hamilton, the photojournalists at the scene immediately mashed their shutters, capturing the incredible frame.

Since Monaco, the invisible sparks flying between the two drivers had been on a continuous upward trajectory.

Both Kai and Hamilton were absolute masters of public relations. In front of the media, their execution was flawless and airtight; they absolutely never exposed a vulnerability.

The FIA management had been acting with extreme caution, meticulously ensuring the two drivers were never scheduled to attend the official press conferences simultaneously. But this bureaucratic isolation had only served to pour gasoline on the fire. The media’s frantic speculation escalated exponentially. Because the two drivers displayed absolutely zero interaction—even when forced to occupy the exact same physical space, they aggressively ignored each other’s existence, acting exactly as if the other didn’t exist—the tension was palpable.

That invisible, suffocating tension was continuously tightening, exactly like an unstable powder keg. The most microscopic spark possessed the raw potential to trigger a massive, catastrophic explosion.

They didn’t need to speak, and they didn’t need to interact to comfortably dominate the global headlines and generate massive clicks.

The current scenario was identical.

Anyone with functioning eyes could read the reality. It was merely a distant, accidental framing of the two drivers in a single shot, yet the air instantly became terrifyingly viscous and heavy. The invisible smoke of political warfare was rapidly heating up. Following the intense tactical battle of the British Grand Prix Qualifying session, the rivalry between Kai and Hamilton had escalated to an entirely new stratosphere. For both drivers, Sunday’s race was an absolute, non-negotiable must-win scenario—

And what happens if you add a fiercely competitive, hyper-aggressive Max Verstappen into that exact mix?

”Heh. We possess absolutely zero requirement for a miracle.”

Confident. Unapologetic. Composed. And elegantly refined. Hamilton put his trademark media persona on full display. Even when confronted with highly provocative, borderline insulting questions from the reporters, his composure remained unshakeable. He fired back utilizing a faint, relaxed smile. The elite aura of a four-time World Champion allowed him to stand completely steady amidst the brewing storm.

”Our long-run Race pace is exactly where it needs to be. Starting from Free Practice 1 on Friday, we have consistently maintained our optimal trajectory. Moving into tomorrow’s Grand Prix, we simply need to remain focused and execute what we do best.”

”This is our absolute home circuit. We are blessed with the absolute best fans on the planet, an incredibly familiar track layout, and undeniably the best weather in the world...” A flash of effortless, dry British humor triggered a soft wave of genuine laughter from the assembled journalists. ”Therefore, our self-confidence is absolute. Tomorrow, we merely need to focus entirely on our own execution. Everything will proceed exactly according to plan.”

”Pole Position?”

”My sincerest congratulations to Valtteri. However, Qualifying is absolutely not the conclusion of the story. In the actual Race, we will both be unleashing our absolute maximum potential.”

This was vastly more than just baseline confidence. The profound, unshakeable certainty radiating from the inside out was so intense it subtly projected an aura of towering arrogance.

Consequently, when a reporter aggressively asked, ”So, what about Kai? Ferrari delivered a completely incomprehensible, limit-shattering lap today.”

”Pardon?” Hamilton replied, acting exactly as if he hadn’t heard the question.

The reporter was forced to explicitly repeat the inquiry. ”What about Kai? Tomorrow, he will be sharing the front row of the grid alongside Valtteri.”

”Pardon?” Hamilton repeated, his face a mask of absolute, innocent bewilderment.

The reporter: ...

Hamilton didn’t wait for a third repetition. He offered a light, dismissive shrug. ”As I explicitly stated moments ago, this Grand Prix is entirely, exclusively about our own execution. As long as we maintain absolute focus, Silverstone remains the absolute optimal circuit profile for our chassis. We will be unleashing our absolute maximum potential to deliver a spectacular show for our home fans.”

The journalists exchanged highly amused, knowing glances—

Had Hamilton just blatantly, publicly, and entirely intentionally ignored Kai’s existence?

Snap, snap, snap!

Every single pair of eyes in the media zone instantly snapped directly toward Kai, who was currently approaching the interview area. The reporters were practically vibrating with intense excitement. Did Kai catch the blatant insult?

Right in front of him, Hamilton acted exactly as though he were completely blind to Kai’s presence. He calmly, politely concluded his final interview, turned around, and walked away.

He simply... walked away...

Hamilton even deliberately took his time, casually greeting other individuals as he navigated the media zone—drivers, PR managers, track officials—projecting an aura of flawless decorum and regal grace.

Yet, from start to finish, he had flatly refused to grant Kai a single microsecond of visual recognition.

The journalists’ eyes darted frantically back and forth between Hamilton’s retreating back and Kai’s face. The atmosphere was incredibly awkward, yet saturated with intense, malicious anticipation.

Kai—remained entirely, flawlessly Kai. He confidently stepped up to the microphone, standing directly in front of the reporters. He appeared completely, utterly unbothered by the fact that Hamilton had just staged a massive public snub on that exact same patch of concrete.

He opened his mouth, immediately delivering a devastatingly sharp joke. ”It appears my presence in the paddock still lacks sufficient magnitude. The slightest lapse in concentration, and I am prone to being entirely overlooked. I suppose I am obligated to continue pushing myself on the asphalt, aggressively flashing our pace to firmly carve out a space for ourselves, explicitly forcing others to acknowledge my existence. Because if I don’t, Formula 1 might violently mutate into bumper cars, and surely that would be an incredibly tragic development.”

The brilliant smile bloomed.

The journalists, who had been holding their breath waiting for a toxic explosion, completely failed to suppress their amusement. Soft, rustling waves of genuine laughter rippled through the media zone. The atmosphere instantly became incredibly relaxed and lighthearted.

But it didn’t end there. Hulkenberg, who was casually walking past the area completely oblivious to the intense political undercurrents, clapped Kai affectionately on the shoulder. ”Man, you’re delivering stand-up comedy routines again. Take it down a notch, please. You’re making the rest of us look exactly like a bunch of pathetic clowns.”

Pfft—

This time, all restraint completely collapsed. The entire press corps burst into roaring laughter.

A short distance away, deep within the mixed zone, Hamilton’s footsteps visibly faltered. His muscles went completely rigid.

Hulkenberg looked thoroughly confused. ”Did I just tell a brilliant joke? I honestly had no idea I possessed such a phenomenal talent for comedy.”

The laughter intensified exponentially.

Kai bumped shoulders playfully with Hulkenberg. ”Don’t worry about it. Welcome to the circus. We are all proud performers here.” The effortless, masterful handling of the interaction instantly dissolved any lingering awkwardness, forcing a massive smile onto every single face present. Even Raikkonen, who was trudging past the area, let out a soft, wry twitch of his lips.

It was absolutely no wonder that in the span of a single season, Kai had completely usurped Daniel Ricciardo to become the undisputed, absolute favorite driver of the global media corps.

The remainder of the interview proceeded along the exact same trajectory. In stark contrast to Mercedes-Benz’s towering, unshakeable expressions of corporate confidence, Kai maintained a highly low-profile demeanor, yet flatly refused to conceal his lethal edge.

”Qualifying was a massive surprise.”

”Charles delivered a highly respectable micro-surprise, while I managed to unleash a massive, absolute bombshell. To be brutally frank, if you forced me to attempt a third flying lap today, I am genuinely uncertain if the chassis would be physically capable of replicating that time.”

”Here at Silverstone, we have successfully unlocked a few critical areas of progress, but we continue to face a massive mountain of challenges. My core assertion is this: we were forced to exhaust our entire arsenal and aggressively push the machinery to its absolute absolute limits just to secure this brief breakthrough in Qualifying. Moving into tomorrow’s Grand Prix, we will likely require a literal miracle to advance our position further.”

Wait a second. ’Advance our position further’? That mathematically meant—

”However, we will absolutely be dedicating 100% of our capacity to the fight. We will be launching a massive, do-or-die gamble, exactly as we did in the previous race, and exactly as we have done for the entirety of the 2019 campaign.”

”Oh, and the exact same rule applied last season too.”

”Gentlemen, this is the core DNA of Ferrari. We are an organization defined by constant, relentless challenge. And we fundamentally, absolutely refuse to concede defeat.”

A single, highly sarcastic joke successfully triggered a massive wave of unified laughter from the reporters.

”Perhaps the infamous ’Home Race Curse’ can graciously offer us some tactical assistance. It already brutally destroyed Charles’s weekend in Monaco; I desperately hope it decides to demonstrate absolute, mathematical fairness tomorrow.”

Uproarious laughter. The press corps was completely out of control, unable to stop themselves. Absolutely no one noticed exactly when Hamilton finally exited the mixed zone. Or, to be vastly more accurate: absolutely no one cared.

Seizing a brief lull in the laughter, a reporter rapidly fired a critical inquiry. ”Kai, based on your technical analysis, are you explicitly stating that you intend to aggressively challenge for the ultimate victory on Sunday?”

”Naturally,” Kai replied smoothly. ”Isn’t that the absolute, singular justification for why we chose to unleash our ultimate, hidden weapons in Qualifying today? We absolutely did not endure that terrifying, high-speed crucible simply to go for a casual, relaxing Sunday afternoon stroll outside the points, correct?”

The media zone exploded with massive laughter. Honestly, who on Earth possessed the capability to resist this version of Kai?

Although he had seamlessly mirrored Hamilton’s strategy—flatly refusing to explicitly utter the names ’Lewis Hamilton’ or ’Mercedes-Benz’ throughout the entire interview, and completely omitting Bottas’s existence—the brilliant wit, the razor-sharp sarcasm, and the undeniable arrogance bleeding through his lighthearted delivery clearly projected the aura of a lawless predator, fully prepared to violently overturn the entire chessboard.

Just as Kai was concluding his media obligations and preparing to leave, a veteran reporter flatly refused to let him escape without addressing the elephant in the room. He threw down a massive, highly critical question.

”Kai, during Q1, when George executed that massive on-track block... what exactly transpired from your perspective?”

The question was phrased with extreme caution and heavy diplomacy, but the underlying subtext was glaringly obvious. The reporter was explicitly asking a terrifying question: had Williams deliberately followed instructions issued by Mercedes-Benz to covertly, illegally sabotage Kai’s Qualifying program?

Kai slightly tilted his chin upward. He didn’t project a single ounce of surprise. A brilliant smile bloomed in his eyes. ”Oh, George and I will definitely need to schedule a private, face-to-face meeting to comprehensively review the incident. High tea, premium pastries, fine cigars, single malt whiskey... you know the standard operational protocol. But given the circumstances, I’m honestly not entirely certain if his arrival will be perfectly on time. I promise to maintain absolute patience.”

Was he... ruthlessly mocking the Williams car for being catastrophically slow?

Watching Kai’s tall, confident silhouette walk away, the journalists exchanged wild, ecstatic glances. Their eyes were flashing with intense excitement—

The invisible smoke of political warfare was fully rising. The tension was overflowing.

They possessed a powerful, unshakeable premonition: the 2019 British Grand Prix was pre-ordained to deliver a completely unparalleled, legendary clash of titans.

The actual Race on Sunday hadn’t even commenced, yet with Saturday’s Qualifying officially concluded, the full-scale media war was already raging at maximum velocity.

Spearheaded by ’The Times,’ the domestic British press had already aggressively sounded the bugle. They published massive, soaring columns praising Mercedes-Benz, praising Albon, praising Norris, and praising Russell. They proudly declared that British drivers, led by Hamilton, were brilliantly, flawlessly dominating the entire paddock. They claimed Silverstone was currently witnessing the majestic, simultaneous rise of two generations of elite British talent, and that the World Championship crown would inevitably, rightfully return to a British driver.

Despite starting from P3, Hamilton operating on the hallowed asphalt of Silverstone was a fundamentally different beast. The catastrophic, fatal ’Home Race Curse’ that routinely destroyed other elite drivers was completely powerless against him. Since his debut in 2007, Hamilton had consistently delivered flawless, spectacular performances at Silverstone, utilizing his home turf to firmly lay the absolute foundations for his championship campaigns.

This year would be absolutely no exception.

”A massive, terrifying storm is preparing to make landfall at Silverstone. This weekend possesses the absolute potential to act as the definitive, critical turning point for the entire 2019 World Championship campaign. Hamilton is fiercely, absolutely determined to claim his crown!”

Confident! Regal! Unwavering!

Flawlessly mirroring Hamilton’s unshakeable posture, the British media put their own towering conviction on full display, their crosshairs locked entirely onto a magnificent coronation at the British Grand Prix!
