Chapter 1239: Chapter 1239:- War Goddess’s Last Stand

”Time to die, Miss Goddess of War!” Kaito shouted with a vicious smile on his face as he raised his right dragon claw and swung it directly toward Freya’s head. With her body covered in deep wounds and several of her bones broken, Freya was in no condition to avoid such a powerful attack. Kaito was confident that his claws would pierce straight through her head and end her life.

However, just as his sharp dragon claws were only a few inches away from Freya’s head, something unexpected happened. A powerful surge of energy suddenly spread throughout Freya’s body as one of her most terrifying innate skills automatically activated.

『Skill Name: War Goddess’s Last Stand』

『Rank: Sixth Order Innate Skill』

『Description: An extremely powerful innate skill possessed by Freya, the Goddess of War. This skill automatically activates when her health falls below 10%, allowing her to release the hidden power within her body. Once activated, Freya enters an absolute berserk state, where her physical abilities increase to an unbelievable level. The closer she is to death, the more dangerous she becomes.』

『Abilities: When Freya’s health drops below 10%, all her stats, except Mana, are instantly boosted by 300% for 5 minutes. This includes her Strength, Agility, Stamina, Endurance, Defense, and other physical attributes. Her Mana remains unchanged. During this state, Freya enters Absolute Berserk Mode, allowing her to continue fighting with greatly increased physical power despite her severe injuries.』

Just as Kaito’s dragon claw was about to strike her head, Freya suddenly opened her eyes wide. Her body moved at an unbelievable speed as she quickly tilted her head to the right, narrowly avoiding the sharp claws that passed only a few inches away from her face. Before Kaito could understand what had happened, Freya suddenly reached forward and wrapped her left arm around his waist, pulling him closer to her.

At the same time, Freya reached down with her right hand and grabbed the handle of one of the katanas lying on the ground beside her. Without giving Kaito even a moment to react, she raised the weapon and drove its sharp blade directly into his throat.

STAB!!!!

The katana pierced through the front of Kaito’s throat, cutting through his flesh before the sharp tip came out from the back of his neck. Freya had put so much strength behind the attack that a large part of the blade passed straight through his throat, leaving the weapon stuck inside his neck.

Kaito’s eyes widened in complete horror as he felt the cold blade pierce through his throat. He had not even seen the attack coming. One moment, he had been swinging his dragon claw toward Freya’s head, fully expecting to kill her. The next moment, one of her katanas had already pierced through his throat.

For a brief moment, Kaito could not understand what had happened. He stared at Freya with wide eyes, unable to believe that the heavily injured woman who had been kneeling helplessly before him just a second earlier had suddenly moved faster than he could react.

However, what frightened him even more was the expression on Freya’s face. Her eyes were completely cold, and there was not even the slightest sign of fear or hesitation in them. Despite the terrible injuries covering her body, she was staring directly into his eyes as if the pain meant nothing to her.

Kaito instinctively tried to speak, but the moment he opened his mouth, blood began flowing out instead. His throat had been badly damaged by the katana, making it almost impossible for him to produce any words. He tried to raise his dragon claws to attack Freya, but the terrible pain and shock caused his movements to become slow and weak.

Freya finally released her grip on his waist, allowing Kaito to stagger backward. However, because the katana was still stuck through his throat, every movement caused him even more pain. He managed to take a few unsteady steps before his legs finally gave way, causing him to fall onto both knees.

”COUGH!!!!”

Kaito suddenly coughed up a large mouthful of blood, which spilt onto the ground in front of him. His breathing had become extremely difficult, and every time he tried to draw air into his lungs, more blood came out of his mouth. He instinctively raised both hands toward his throat, but he was too afraid to touch the blade that was still stuck inside his neck.

Freya silently watched him for several seconds before slowly walking toward him. Although the deep X-shaped wound was still present across her chest and abdomen, her movements were now much faster and stronger than before. Thanks to the activation of 『War Goddess’s Last Stand』, all her physical stats, except Mana, had increased by 300%, allowing her to move with incredible speed despite her terrible injuries.

Kaito slowly raised his head and looked at Freya as she approached him. His eyes were filled with fear and confusion. He could not understand how someone who had been so badly injured could suddenly become this powerful. Even more importantly, he could not understand why the ability that had saved his life only moments earlier had failed to protect him from this attack.

Freya stopped directly in front of him and reached forward with her right hand. She firmly grabbed the handle of the katana that was still stuck through his throat, causing Kaito’s entire body to stiffen in fear.

”That was a really clever trick.” Freya said as she looked directly into his frightened eyes. ”But unfortunately for you, I am the Goddess of War, and this is my innate skill, 『War Goddess’s Last Stand』.”

After saying those words, Freya tightened her grip on the katana’s handle. However, instead of pulling the weapon backwards through the same wound, she suddenly moved the blade sideways with tremendous force.

SLASH!!!!

The sharp blade cut through the remaining flesh on the side of Kaito’s throat, opening a deep wound as Freya forced the katana out through the side of his neck. The blade passed through his throat and came out from the new cut, leaving a terrible wound behind.

Blood immediately poured from Kaito’s neck as his eyes widened even further. His mouth opened as if he wanted to scream, but no clear sound came out. His body shook violently for a brief moment before he lost his balance and collapsed onto the blood-covered ground.

Freya stood above him with her bloodstained katana in her right hand. She watched silently as Kaito’s movements slowly stopped, his eyes still wide open with the fear and shock he had felt during his final moments.

And just like that, Kaito Black, the heir of the famous Black Dragon Clan, had been killed by the Goddess of War.

Freya was still in terrible pain. Although her innate skill, 『War Goddess’s Last Stand』, had increased all her stats except Mana by 300%, it did not mean that she could no longer feel pain. The deep X-shaped wound across her chest and abdomen was still there, and several bones in her body were still broken.

Every movement caused pain to spread through her body, but thanks to the huge increase in her physical abilities, she was able to continue fighting despite her injuries.

Without wasting another second, Freya took out a Sixth Order healing potion from her storage ring and immediately drank it. As the potion entered her body, its healing effects began working on her injuries.

The bleeding from her wounds gradually slowed down, while the broken bones inside her body began recovering. However, even with such a powerful healing potion, it would still take some time for all her injuries to heal completely.

After drinking the potion, Freya bent down and picked up her second katana from the ground. Now that she had both weapons in her hands again, she turned her attention toward the battlefield, where hundreds of thousands of soldiers from both factions were still fighting against each other.

There were still four minutes and forty seconds remaining before the effects of 『War Goddess’s Last Stand』 would disappear. During this time, all her stats except Mana would remain boosted by 300%, giving her a huge increase in strength, speed, defense, and other physical abilities.

Freya had no intention of wasting even a single second of this opportunity. She knew that once the effects of her innate skill ended, her physical abilities would return to normal. Therefore, she decided to use the remaining time to kill as many enemy soldiers as possible.

The moment she made her decision, Freya tightened her grip on both katanas and disappeared from her position.

SWOOOOOSH!!!!

In the next instant, Freya appeared among a large group of Emperor Faction soldiers who were fighting against the Anti-Emperor Faction’s army. However, before any of the enemy soldiers could even notice her arrival, she had already swung both of her katanas.

Several heads were instantly separated from their bodies, and blood sprayed into the air as the headless bodies collapsed onto the ground. Before the nearby soldiers could understand what had happened, Freya had already moved past them and attacked another group of enemies.

Her speed was now so great that even many Fifth Order cultivators could not follow her movements with their eyes. By the time they noticed something moving past them, Freya had already disappeared, leaving behind several dead soldiers.

Before the activation of her innate skill, Freya had been moving through the battlefield like a powerful jet stream, cutting down anyone who stood in her way. Her speed and strength had already been enough to frighten the enemy soldiers, and very few cultivators had been able to survive even a single attack from her.

However, compared to her current state, her previous speed was nothing.

With all her physical stats increased by 300%, Freya was now moving through the battlefield as if a terrible calamity had appeared among the enemy soldiers. Wherever she passed, bodies immediately began falling to the ground, and the soldiers standing nearby could barely understand what was happening.

Some soldiers suddenly found the heads of their comrades falling beside them, while others watched in horror as several men standing only a few meters away collapsed with deep cuts across their bodies. In most cases, the victims had their heads completely severed before they could even raise their weapons to defend themselves.

The most terrifying part was that the soldiers could not even see who was attacking them. All they could see were bodies rapidly falling to the ground, blood spraying into the air, and heads rolling across the grass. By the time they realised that the Goddess of War was responsible, she had already moved on to another group of enemies.

Freya continued moving from one group of soldiers to another without slowing down. Her two katanas moved so quickly that ordinary cultivators could not even see the blades. Every swing was aimed at killing an enemy, and she rarely needed more than a single attack to finish off a soldier.

Even when several enemy soldiers attempted to surround her, it made no difference. Before they could complete their attacks, Freya had already passed through their formation, leaving their bodies falling to the ground one after another.

The soldiers who were unfortunate enough to stand in her path had almost no chance of surviving. Their armor, weapons, and defensive barriers offered little protection against her katanas, which cut through them with frightening ease.

And Freya showed no signs of stopping. She knew that every second was valuable, and as long as the effects of 『War Goddess’s Last Stand』 remained active, she intended to use her increased strength and speed to their fullest.

For the Emperor Faction’s soldiers, however, it felt as if death itself was moving through their ranks. They could not see Freya approaching; they could not defend themselves against her attacks, and they could not even predict which group of soldiers would be killed next.

All they could do was watch in growing fear as more and more of their comrades fell to the ground, their heads severed before they even realised that the Goddess of War had passed through their formation.
