Chapter 1238: Chapter 1238:- Goddess of War vs Black Dragon [III]

At the centre of the enormous crater, Kaito Black lay on the ground for several seconds, unable to move. His entire body was covered in dust and blood, while the ground around him was filled with cracks from the force of his crash. Although thousands of soldiers were still fighting nearby, Kaito could barely hear anything because of the loud ringing in his ears.

With great difficulty, Kaito placed his right claw against the ground and slowly tried to push himself up. However, the moment he moved, a sharp pain spread throughout his body, causing him to grit his teeth. His arms were shaking, and he had to try several times before he finally managed to stand on his feet.

Even without checking his injuries, Kaito could tell that several bones in his body were broken. His ribs hurt whenever he tried to breathe, while his shoulders, back, and legs were also in terrible pain. Although his Black Dragon body was much stronger than that of an ordinary cultivator, even his powerful body could not escape the damage caused by such a powerful attack.

However, his broken bones were not his worst injuries. Across his chest and abdomen was a huge X-shaped wound that stretched from both shoulders to the opposite sides of his abdomen. One cut started near his left shoulder and went down toward the right side of his abdomen, while the second cut started near his right shoulder and went down toward the left side of his abdomen.

Together, the two deep cuts formed a large X that covered almost his entire chest and abdomen. Blood continued flowing from the wounds, soaking his torn clothes before dripping onto the ground. These injuries had been caused by Freya’s last attack, when she had swung both of her katanas together and struck him with enough force to send him crashing into the battlefield.

Kaito lowered his head and looked at his injuries. For a moment, his vision became blurry, and he almost lost his balance. He had already lost a lot of blood, and the pain from his broken bones was making it difficult for him to remain standing.

What frustrated Kaito the most was that he had been fighting Freya with everything he had. From the beginning of their battle, he had used his full physical strength and speed, attacking her with his hardened dragon claws without holding anything back. Yet despite giving everything he had, he had failed to land even a single successful attack on her.

Kaito did not know how much of her strength Freya had used during their fight, but he knew that he had been fighting at his maximum capacity. Every time he attacked, he had put his full strength behind his claws, hoping to break through her defense. However, Freya had either blocked or avoided every single attack, and in the end, she had completely defeated him.

What made this defeat even more frustrating was that Freya had not used a single elemental attack against him. As a member of the Black Dragon Clan, Kaito possessed the ability to absorb the mana contained within elemental attacks, which made him extremely difficult to defeat for cultivators who mainly relied on elemental spells.

However, Freya clearly knew about this ability. Instead of using elemental attacks that Kaito could absorb, she had chosen to fight him using only her two katanas, physical strength, speed, and fighting experience. In other words, she had defeated him in close combat, which was something Kaito had always considered one of his greatest strengths.

For someone as proud as Kaito, accepting such a defeat was extremely difficult. However, despite his terrible injuries, he had no intention of giving up just yet.

’This battle isn’t over yet.’ Kaito thought as he slowly raised his head.

However, the moment he looked forward, his eyes widened in surprise because Freya was already standing directly in front of him. Kaito had not even noticed her approaching, and it almost felt as if she had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Even the nearby soldiers who had been watching their battle were shocked by her sudden appearance. To them, it looked as if Freya had teleported directly in front of Kaito, but in reality, she had simply moved so fast that their eyes could not follow her movements.

Freya looked at the heavily injured Black Dragon standing before her. She could clearly see the huge X-shaped wound covering his chest and abdomen, along with the blood that continued flowing from his injuries. However, she had no intention of giving him any time to recover.

After all, this was a battlefield, and Kaito was an enemy Sixth Order cultivator who had been sent specifically to stop her. As long as he remained alive, he would continue to be a threat to the Anti-Emperor Faction’s soldiers. Therefore, Freya decided to finish him off before he could do anything else.

Without wasting another second, Freya stepped forward and thrust her right katana directly toward Kaito’s heart. Her attack was extremely fast, and considering his current condition, Kaito had almost no chance of avoiding it.

However, just as the sharp tip of her katana touched Kaito’s chest, something completely unexpected happened. A strange yellowish energy suddenly appeared around Kaito’s body before gathering at the exact point where Freya’s katana had touched him.

Everything happened within an extremely short moment, so quickly that even Freya could barely react. Before she could understand what was happening, the yellowish energy entered her katana and began traveling along the blade at an unbelievable speed.

Within a tiny fraction of a second, the energy travelled from the tip of her katana to its handle. The moment it reached Freya’s hand, it immediately entered her body.

Freya’s expression changed instantly as a terrible pain suddenly spread throughout her entire body. Her eyes widened in shock, and before she could understand what was happening, her fingers lost their strength, causing both of her katanas to slip from her hands.

CLANG! CLANG!!!!

The two katanas fell onto the ground beside her, and at the same time, Freya’s legs suddenly became weak. Unable to support her own weight, she fell onto both knees directly in front of Kaito.

”COUGH!!!!”

Freya suddenly coughed up a large mouthful of blood, which splattered across the ground in front of her. Her entire body was shaking from the terrible pain, and for a moment, she could not understand what had happened.

Just a second earlier, she had been completely unharmed and was about to kill Kaito. However, now she was kneeling on the ground, suffering from injuries that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.

Her chest hurt terribly, while sharp pain spread through her shoulders, ribs, back, and abdomen. Even taking a normal breath had suddenly become difficult, and she could feel that something was seriously wrong with her body.

Freya immediately lowered her head to examine herself, but what she saw left her completely shocked. Across her chest and abdomen was an enormous X-shaped wound, exactly like the one that had been on Kaito’s body only moments earlier.

One cut stretched from her left shoulder to the right side of her abdomen, while the other stretched from her right shoulder to the left side of her abdomen. The two deep wounds crossed in the middle of her chest, forming a large X that covered almost her entire upper body.

Blood was already flowing from the wounds, soaking her clothes before dripping onto the ground. However, what shocked Freya even more was that she could also feel several broken bones throughout her body.

Her ribs, shoulders, and other parts of her body were suffering from the same injuries that Kaito had received after crashing into the battlefield. The pain was so intense that she struggled to remain on her knees, and her breathing became increasingly difficult.

’What... what just happened?’ Freya thought as she stared at the wounds covering her body.

She was certain that Kaito had not attacked her with his claws. He had not used any elemental spells against her either, and she had not sensed any powerful attack coming from him. Yet somehow, she had suddenly received injuries that were almost exactly the same as his.

Realising something, Freya immediately raised her head and looked at Kaito. However, what she saw made her even more shocked.

The enormous X-shaped wound that had been covering Kaito’s chest and abdomen had completely disappeared. His clothes were still torn and covered in blood, but the skin beneath them was perfectly fine, without even a single scratch.

Even the broken bones and other injuries he had suffered from crashing into the ground seemed to have completely healed. His breathing had returned to normal, and he was standing straight without showing any signs of pain or weakness.

It was almost as if he had never been injured in the first place. Freya stared at him for a few seconds before finally understanding what had happened.

’He transferred all his injuries to me!’

The moment she realized this, Freya felt extremely frustrated. She had spent the entire battle carefully studying Kaito’s fighting style, finding his weaknesses, and using them to defeat him. She had successfully injured him several times before finally landing a powerful attack that had almost completely defeated him.

Yet just when she was about to finish him off, Kaito had somehow transferred every injury he had received onto her body. The deep wounds, the broken bones, and even the injuries caused by his crash into the battlefield had all been transferred to Freya.

Meanwhile, Kaito had completely recovered from every single injury.

What made this ability even more dangerous was that Freya had not noticed anything unusual until the strange yellowish energy had already entered her katana. Everything had happened so quickly that even with her incredible speed and reactions, she had been unable to stop it.

’So, besides being able to absorb elemental attacks, he also has another terrifying ability.’ Freya thought as she struggled to control her breathing.

She did not know whether Kaito had used a special skill or some kind of powerful artifact to achieve this. The heir of the Black Dragon Clan possessed a terrifying ability that allowed him to transfer the injuries he had received onto his opponent while completely healing his own body.

And now, after putting so much effort into defeating him, Freya found herself suffering from all the injuries she had caused Kaito throughout their battle.

”Time to Die, Miss Goddess of War!”
