Chapter 400: Chapter 400: Lin Yun’s Backup Plan (Part 2)

Bai Zhicheng lowered his head, lost in thought. ’Could it have been one of the other Main Seat Elders?’ he muttered.

But he immediately dismissed the thought. ’Impossible. Practically all the Main Seat Elders knew what Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing were up to. They wouldn’t have the guts to injure them.’

’If it wasn’t a Main Seat Elder, then who could it be? In the entire Flawless Palace, besides the twenty Main Seat Elders, who else could so easily injure Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing?’

After all, Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing both had one foot in the Celestial Spirit Realm and were hailed as the two strongest among the one hundred thousand disciples of the Flawless Palace. Even Bai Zhicheng himself, another of the Ten Core Disciples, wasn’t confident he could defeat them.

He considered many possibilities, even Luo Feng. But they were all unlikely. As the Palace Master, if Luo Feng wanted to stop Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing, he wouldn’t have done it in secret. That would have been beneath his status.

Besides, what Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing were doing was hardly honorable. There was no need for Luo Feng to be secretive. Wouldn’t it have been better to stop them openly and righteously?

After running through all the suspects, one person finally came to mind. Bai Zhicheng immediately asked his subordinate, ”Has Elder Puzhu returned to the palace?”

After much deliberation, Bai Zhicheng concluded that Puzhu was the most likely suspect. If Elder Puzhu was in the palace, everything would make sense. However, his subordinate’s reply only added to his frustration.

”Senior Brother Bai, Elder Puzhu is not within the palace. I’ve already confirmed it. It’s a fact.”

’Not in the palace? Then who could it be?’ Bai Zhicheng wracked his brain but couldn’t come up with anyone.

Meanwhile, in He Yuntian’s courtyard, he had also received news of Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing’s injuries. His reaction, however, was completely different from Bai Zhicheng’s.

Upon hearing his subordinate’s report, He Yuntian simply smiled faintly and dismissed the several Direct Disciples present, telling them to go rest.

Although they didn’t understand what He Yuntian was thinking, his Direct Disciples still filed out of the room. Once everyone had left, He Yuntian took a sip of tea and chuckled softly.

”Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing... looks like they’ll have no choice but to swallow this loss in silence.”

While He Yuntian remained serene, the other Core Disciples were all busy speculating about who had injured Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing. At that very moment, a dark figure slipped back into Luo Feng’s courtyard.

The figure approached a door and pushed it open. After lighting a candle inside, they were startled to find Luo Feng sitting in a chair, waiting.

”Senior Brother, what are you doing here?” the figure asked upon seeing Luo Feng. It was none other than his junior sister, Caiyi.

”If I hadn’t come, should I have just waited for you to go berserk again?” Luo Feng said gruffly.

Caiyi stuck out her tongue sheepishly, about to make an excuse, but Luo Feng cut her off. ”Hurry up and sit down. I’ll help you calm your blood and suppress your Elemental Power.”

Every time Caiyi used her Elemental Power, the Blood Slaughter Saint’s inheritance within her would run rampant, causing her to lose her reason and become murderously bloodthirsty.

Therefore, Luo Feng had to immediately help Caiyi suppress her agitated Elemental Power to prevent the Blood Slaughter Saint’s inheritance from running wild within her.

No one could have ever guessed that the person who had injured Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing tonight was actually Caiyi. On the night before Lin Yun left, the person he had gone to see was, in fact, Caiyi.

An hour later, once Luo Feng had confirmed that everything within Caiyi’s body was back to normal, he withdrew his Elemental Power. He looked at her and said gruffly, ”Master’s dying wish was for you to never use your Elemental Power again. Have you completely forgotten?”

Unafraid of Luo Feng’s scolding, Caiyi stuck out her tongue playfully and said in a wheedling tone, ”Senior Brother, it’s because those two scumbags were going too far! Trying to assault a fellow disciple right here in the Flawless Palace... and you weren’t doing anything about it! If your dear junior sister hadn’t stepped in, things would have gotten much worse tonight, wouldn’t they?”

She hooked his arm and shook it back and forth. Luo Feng kept a stern expression and said, ”Even if you had to stop them, you didn’t need to be so heavy-handed. Look at the state you left them in! When their masters come asking tomorrow, what am I supposed to say?”

”What’s the big deal? It’s their own fault for being blinded by lust,” Caiyi said, completely unfazed. ”If their masters ask, just tell them I did it. Problem solved.”

Luo Feng truly felt like an older brother to his junior sister. Despite their large age gap, his affection for Caiyi was genuine.

A smile finally broke through his stern facade. Luo Feng patted Caiyi’s head and chuckled. ”Alright, I’ll let it slide this time. When that kid Lin Yun gets back, I’ll make sure to punish him properly. But you really can’t use your Elemental Power so carelessly again, you hear me?”

”I knooow... my dearest Senior Brother,” she replied, deliberately drawing out the words.

After giving Caiyi a few more instructions, Luo Feng stood up and left her room. He gazed toward the distant horizon, a smile playing on his lips. ’That little rascal,’ he thought, ’he’s a clever one. Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing really took a beating they can’t even complain about this time.’

The night passed, but it was anything but peaceful. Many interested parties clearly didn’t get much sleep—the Ten Core Disciples, for example. Every one of them was trying to guess the identity of the mysterious expert.

An expert who could so easily injure Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing had appeared out of nowhere, shocking all of the Ten Core Disciples. More importantly, why would this powerhouse protect Lu Bingning and the other woman? Could this person be connected to Lin Yun? That was their primary concern.

「The next day」

Luo Feng arrived at the Main Hall early in the morning. He was there waiting for someone. Meanwhile, the Ten Core Disciples were also waiting, eager to see how the situation would unfold.

Not long after Luo Feng’s arrival, just as he’d expected, two Supreme Elders entered the Main Hall. They were the masters of Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing.

”You little brat!” one of them bellowed as soon as he entered. ”Some expert injured Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing right here in the Flawless Palace yesterday. What’s the meaning of this?”

”Elder, perhaps you should be asking your own disciples about this,” Luo Feng retorted. ”What exactly were they trying to do last night?”

’From the looks of it, Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing didn’t tell them the whole story,’ Luo Feng thought. ’They both saw Caiyi. The fact that these two Elders don’t know who the attacker was means their disciples kept their mouths shut.’

Luo Feng’s question left the two Supreme Elders stunned.

Seeing their reaction, Luo Feng continued in a slow, deliberate tone, ”Elders, last night, your disciples were attempting to assault a fellow female disciple within the Flawless Palace.”

As Luo Feng slowly laid out the truth, the two Supreme Elders were thoroughly humiliated. But Luo Feng wasn’t finished. ”And what’s more... the one who injured them was our dear sister, Caiyi. So, tell me, Elders... how do you propose we handle this matter?”
